Moxies is one of the many upscale restaurants in the uptown area of down town Dallas. It is located in the Crescent Hotel. On a weeknight for dinner around 4-6 it was relatively crowded and pretty noisy with both music and customer conversations. The bar has a central role/location in the restaurant and observing the customer interaction and the relatively scanty clothes of the servers/bartenders it felt like a pickup night club atmosphere. Don't know if that's what they are going for. Our server was friendly and polite, but not super attentive and disappeared a bit when we needed her. Not bad service, just not the best. The food was very good and about that you would expect for an upscale restaurant in the area. While there were other business people eating at the surrounding tables, I would not take my kids here. However, we would consider coming back for another business dinner. read more

The waiter was sweet but she kept forgetting things. My mom ordered the farmers hash with pancetta bacon and jalapeño sausage but it didn't have the pancetta. They offered to bring a side of bacon, it took almost 20 minutes to arrive for half done bacon (which is fine for her), my mom was halfway done with her meal by the time it came out. Pros: they let us sit at our table even though we were a little late, food was mostly decent, and the vibes were fun. Cons: we were a party of 9 and literally everyone received their order at a decent amount of time except me. I asked for a margarita and waited forever for it and when we asked, they forgot to put the drink order in. Then I decided to order an appetizer at the same time my friend ordered her salad, my friend got her salad wayyy before I got my appetizer. The server seemed to have some sort of issue with me for no reason. They didn't even offer to comp one of these off my bill. Didn't feel like dealing with the sever, so I didn't even bother to ask. Stopped into Moxies in downtown Dallas after dinner for drinks and dessert Saturday Night. The atmosphere is really nice and makes it a great spot to unwind. The food and drinks were solid, but the service left a lot to be desired. Our server was friendly, but the timing was way off--we had nearly finished our appetizer before our drinks even made it to the table, and everything just took much longer than expected. What made it more frustrating was that the patio was empty and, while the bar was busy, the restaurant overall wasn't nearly as crowded as I've seen it before. Not sure why the service was so slow under those conditions. That being said, the overall vibe and quality of the food were good, so I'd give it another try. However, docking one star for the the two people that came to the host stand and completely ignored us and avoided eye contact instead of saying "we'll be right with you." The servers made up for it though. Lisa was so sweet and kept checking up on us. There was another server who also checked on us and got a bag for our leftovers without us asking, which was nice. While in Dallas with my team for a recent work event, we decided to all go to Moxies as the day ended. I loved the upscale ambiance as we walked in and I quickly noticed how many couples were there, it seems like a great date spot. They didn't have a large enough table to accommodate our entire team (we did have reservations) but they sat us in close proximity to each other and it worked out well. We arrived before happy hour ended so we ordered a number of appetizers for the table as well as drinks before ordering our actual meals. While there, I tried the following: - Maple Glazed Brussel Sprouts - Fresh Smashed Guacamole - Poutine - Vegan Potstickers - Short Rib Bolognese Aside from the poutine which was excellent, the other items were all just OK and pretty bland. Of all of the items, I was most disappointed with the short rib bolognese as it was so flavorless and wasn't worth finishing. My team members that I spoke with about their food also agreed. I would go back to Moxies for the ambiance and to meet friends over drinks, but I wouldn't go back for the food. read more

Have only been to the southlake location before so I didn't realise there were two different entrances. One for the bar area and one for the dining room. The host was kind enough to show us to a booth after I clarified I wanted a booth. Our server sierra was amazing. I have a dairy allergy and she was great at communicating how their kitchen worked to accommodate that. The mahi mahi was so delicious all I had to substitute was rice in place of the mashed potatoes which in my opinion fit the dish better in general. We went with a mango theme tonight because we got the potstickers, tuna tower and mahi mahi all which had some form of avocado and mango going along with it. Also the side of seasonal veg which ended up being carrot and green beans was seasoned heavenly. But overall our experience was made great by sierra. She was never rushing us and never making me feel bad for asking like a million questions. The booth had a window to the patio which was super cute and I want to try out once it isn't so hot outside.
