Pretty good atmosphere, great service, friendly staff. Food was average, but it is to be expected at a chain restaurant.

Fair to middling bar/resto. I ordered the haddock which was seared and sitting atop spinach and mashed potatoes. I enjoyed the food however became very ill a few hours after I ate. I suspect it may have been the mashed potatoes. Decor of this place is very nice--dimly lit, creative wine bottle display and your standard flat panel tv's. Our server Brad was EXCELLENT very patient and helpful. It gets packed quickly after 5pm but when I left around 8:30 I could see several empty tables. Street signage could be better. read more

Ate here before a second city show. Staff was pleasant enough but both tacos and beef vindaloo bowl was way too spicy. Did replace one of the dishes. Asked for yogurt to cool the vindaloo, took way too long to come. Ended up eating the scrapes from friends at the table. read more

Food is ok. Beware of big groups since gratuity is 18% after tax. Service is below par - they didnt even refill water for the table. Lunch menu options are limited. Ordered the steak sandwiches... someone received "well done" instead of "medium rare". read more

I don't know if this was the exact location cause I am posting this after I was there. All I have to say is that the service is extraordinary from the hostess to the girl attending me at the table to the food quality all deserve 5 stars plus!! I had an awesome sirloin with vegetables cooked to perfection and I even got a drink made for me that wasn't even on the beverage menu! This was the Moxie's at the hotel I stayed near the airport! Do not eat here unless you like frozen, boxed food, or just like crappy overpriced food (sorry if I offended). The service is so slow and watching the waitresses makes me even more annoyed. No one came over and asked how things were, we had to each time flag her down. I don't understand why a chain restaurant can't run as smooth as say Terroni (any location) and Gusto; just to name a few. There was 12 of us and we ordered: Calamari (2 orders) - over cooked first off and there were so many small bits they were just gross since over cooked and tiny. There is a BT which stands for moxie's executive chef - brandon thordarson draws on his international training & his love of world cuisine to fuel his passion for fresh contemporary dishes. Moxie's need to get there staff in check because this is a JOKE! haddock with lemon quinoa | sautéed kale leaves, edamame beans & fresh herb chimichurri - Again there was a BT beside this dish. Gross! The fish didn't taste fresh at all and over cooked. I had no clue where this chimichurri was on the dish. I love chimichurri too but didn't see any. The whole dish was a flop really. The lemon part was a small slice of lemon on the side I guess for me to squeeze on the dish. LOL! Nachos - double cheese nachos - those weren't good either. I think there should of been layers of cheese. dry ribs - tasted like dry deep fried jerky grilled fish tacos - fish was not fresh or even portion in each taco. Also the lettuce slaw (if thats what they call it) was not fresh tasting either. I also didn't taste any of the valentina hot sauce because it was more mayo based. They were gross. Wild mushroom pizza - was ok thank goodness. sirloin with compound prawn & lobster butter | 7 oz cab® sirloin with chorizo, baby potato & corn hash with chimichurri - was ok but still poorly executed. Steak wasn't that great so good thing there was that butter on top. Again where was the chimichurri?! Burger - was good finally something good! Stay away from chain restaurants in my opinion. This city has so many other opinions that are way better than Moxie's, Jack Astors, etc. read more

Major props to Moxie's! We struck out on 3 other restaurants that were either closed or not child friendly before stumbling in on a cold and windy evening. They handed us crayons and a highchair and the rest is history. Kind and patient staff, really good food (I rec the dirty tacos) and a relaxed but chic atmosphere. Good service, meal reasonably fast at 5:30, filet sirloin and Spanish cod were above average. Also gheir Amber lager was a pleasant surprise

I was quite disappointed in my experience here. Came with a friend after work one day, around 4:30pm. We asked the waitress several questions and she was unable to answer any of them. Atmosphere: High ceilings, white tablecloths, definitely looks like it caters to the corporate crowd, and why not, it is in the Financial District. When discussing with the waitress what was on tap, she mentioned that there were two house brews. When inquiring as to who brewed the house brews, she was unable to answer the question (the answer is Big Rock Brewery of Calgary, Alberta based on a call to Moxie's Corporate HQ the next day). Anyway, I tried the Big Life Amber and it was better than a macro product, but not much better. Food: I ordered the 'Loaded Backyard Burger' and it sounds better than it tasted. The portion size was certainly fine, but the patty was on the dry side and the cheese was not fully melted in places. The salad I had with it was a run of the mill Caesar salad that was neither good, nor bad. I know you shouldn't expect much from chain restaurants, but I always hold out hope that I'll find a gem. I came here with my family for dinner during an overnight weekend stay in the city. We chose Moxie's as it was relatively close to our hotel. The décor was nice, and the staff very pleasant. I didn't notice wait staff poorly attired - I'd say every one was dressed professionally - and my wife would have commented if it wasn't the case. We ordered the ginger sesame tuna appetizer and it was great, although a bit messy to eat - they are big mouthfuls if you take that approach. Unfortunately for us our daughter, who was up at 4am to line up for a contest, was completely exhausted, and after ordering our entree's we asked to get them to go. Our food came promptly and they assisted us with getting a cab as even the short walk back to the hotel was going to be a bit much for her. As for the food: I had one of the most delicious restaurant burgers that I have had in the GTA in a very long time. The 'Braised Short Rib Stuffed Burger' is absolutely to die for. The Salt and Pepper wings we ordered for my daughter were outstanding, and my wife's Chipotle Mango Chicken was also a hit. All in all, we would definitely consider a return visit to dine in the restaurant. It will be really tough not to order that burger again!! read more

I would not recommend going to this location. I ate at the Yorkdale location a while back and asked for them to recommend me their best steak as it was my first time. They gave me the Honey Garlic Steak and I fell in love. Unfortunately, when I dined at this location, my steak was over cooked which is ironic considering the server describes the amount of pink you will see inside your steak when you order it, then you receive something completely different from what he/she said. My "medium" steak was more cooked than my boyfriend's "medium-well" steak. Might I add that there was no sauce on my Honey Garlic steak. The restaurant was pretty well empty, so I had expected that they would at least spend a little extra time and care cooking the food. Overall, bad experience. Wouldn't recommend. read more

This place is awesome....service is great even though the place is rammed Thursday's when I usually come. Food has always met expectations (it's not Jacobs steakhouse or Lee for some of the reviewers who seem to expect gourmet) . But service has always been great and any small issues have always been remedied very quickly. Moxie's is definitely the place to be within Toronto's financial district. I would rank it as my top bar in Toronto, albeit I do not live in Toronto right now but always go to Moxie's when I am in Toronto (which happens every month). Diana (a.k.a "D" by regulars...Guys, no breast-type pun her!!) is the main bartender there, and does a fantastic job. She is always in a great mood and is always making customers feel great through her ability to make people smile. I often hear some of the regulars there call her "the bartender boss", which you could see through the respect that every customer and every employee shows her. "D" is the real deal! And Moxie's is the place to go! read more

We came here for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night at 9pm. We were the only table in the restaurant, really odd for a Saturday night. They forgot to take an order for one of the people in our party. The food took over an hour to come. Worst service I've experienced at a Moxie's, especially with the restaurant being empty. The food was ok. Waiter was slow and made excuses that they were short on staff. Tried getting wing special, had my son so we couldn't sit in the bar. Waiter had manager come to say that they couldn't do it. All you could smell was his last cigarette. The service was slow, food portions were small. Will not ever go back. read more

Good food, ambiance and service. Nothing great, but nothing bad either. A good place to go with a group who can't decide on a specific cuisine. Should have something for everyone. A little on the pricey side, but won't break the bank. I would go again, but maybe not my first choice read more

We just had a company lunch at the Moxie's located at University and Wellington and unfortunately that will be the last time we will be going there. Service was not great. They automatically told us that 18% gratuity would be added, which is fine but as soon as the bill arrived it wasn't added and we had to double check with the server. She then said oh no i forgot to add it and then hand wrote it at the bottom instead of re issuing a new bill. Only after did we realize the tip was a lot more then 18% as she calculated it after the taxes were added. We found it very unprofessional and sloppy. Our whole team has decided to never go there again. I rate this location 0 stars. The system wont let me post at zero stars the one star does not apply. read more

The environment at these location is cool with mild music, I was little disappointed with the food i was expecting to be good but it was okie. The Service of waitresses were good and cooperative. The most disappointing thing about these location is that i have waited the most to order my drink. Usually they take your drinks order withing 5 to 7 minutes at other Moxie's Location while here i almost waited 12 to 14 minutes and no one showed up. I was expecting them to show little early. Overall it was okie not a fan of these location. read more
