I had an okay experience at the Moxy Downtown Boston. First, it is in a good location. It's close to bars and restaurants. The staff was friendly and professional. My issue was that I had no heat on my first night and couldn't change my room because the hotel was sold out. I turned the heat up before I got into the shower. When I got out of the shower, the HVAC was blowing nothing but cold air. I slept in my thermals, socks, and a beanie. I woke up congested and coughing. I have asthma, so breathing in cold air all night wasn't a good idea. The next morning, I was able to get another room, but the damage was already done. Luckily, there was a CVS on the corner where I was able to get some items to help me with my cough. Oh yeah, as I was returning from CVS, the fire department showed up because the elevators malfunctioned. I wasn't about to walk up 16 flights of stairs, so I went back out and got something to eat. When I came back, the elevators were operational again. You are given a $35 F&B coupon to use in the bar/restaurant. It works out that if you buy a hamburger and a soda, you have spent $35. The Moxy is not for older, seasoned travelers. It has a very young Gen Z vibe.

Great Central Hotel in the Heart of Boston. Right next to Boston Commons!!!! Walking distance to several Charlie Trains.... Boston has it down when it comes to Public Transportation!!! Driving is a nightmare! It is a Micro Hotel so the rooms aren't big but it has everything you need.... Including a Private bathroom!!! We received a $Food Credit so Breakfast or our snacks were covered... Staff were very helpful and friendly!!! The only downfall was it can get noisy on the street below and it echos up.... We are by Tufts Medical Center plus on the weekends people are Partying on the street and cars and motorcycle are revving their engines. So the Weekends are a bit rough Also beware of the hidden "Resort Fee" that were charged after we checked out. This comes directly from the Hotel and not by the site you booked your room!

Loved my stay here. Service was awesome, room clean, whole place was not just beautiful, but also very unique and fun. The breakfast pizza was out of this world too. Would love to return here.

The Moxy is in a great location and has a fun vibe but when you get to the second floor and find out there's a $35 per night amenity charge, the fun stops there. It wasn't listed when I booked the room. They give you a $35 voucher for each night that you can use in the bar/food area but 2 drinks for $34, it didn't feel like a "perk" and the bartenders aren't the friendliest. You can only use in one transaction so if you only get a Pepsi, it was a $35 Pepsi. Up to the room, quirky, no refrigerator, decent view with floor to ceiling windows and had what you needed plus ear plugs which I thought was strange until you find out that your room is not even close to being sound proof. All night sirens and horns! I didn't feel comfortable wearing ear plugs to sleep so got very little. There was a sound machine on the other side of the bed, turned it up for the second night and it worked great for 90 minutes at a time! Towels were small and thin. 100 percent would not stay there again when the Marriott is a block away.

Breakfast tacos. They were very good.

If you're looking for a clean, trendy and comfortable room, this is a good choice. The vibe is very cool. The location is great, too. So, 4 stars for just a place to stay. With that said, the peripherals leave much to be desired. The parking situation is confusing, at best. The food situation is even more confusing, mostly because the staff wasn't/isn't very friendly or helpful, at least not on the days we were there. Our breakfast order, from a very limited menu, was done incorrectly and had to be redone. The breakfast tacos were very good, though. The front desk manager, once she got involved, was great. She saved the stay for us (and them) from total disaster.

What a wonderful experience! First and foremost, what a shocker when I checked in and received 2 ($35) meal vouchers and a drink ticket to use during my stay! What an awesome perk. And the food was delicious! The room itself, was enough space for myself - no complaints. Loved that they had a foldable table and foldable suitcase stand to use. The decor was beautiful! A mixture of woods and metals. The rooftop was lovely with a nice view of Boston. Located in the heart of Chinatown it was within walking distance of multiple train stops and bus routes as well as restaurants and shops. All in all a wonderful experience! Will definitely have the Moxy on my radar when traveling.

This was my first time in Boston. The hotel is really nice and close to everything. I like the Moxy brand. Room clean and spacious with the view of the theater area. Got a complementary drink. Bar and restaurant staff were pleasant The bad. security knocked on my door around 3 a.m until I answered it stating noise complaints. I was asleep. When I went to the door I didn't hear any noise in the hall. I was traveling solo and it scared me because why?. There were lots of younger groups in the hotel but I didn't hear or had any issues with them. I called the front desk and got a gaslit answer basically saying it was routine.

Great location. I don't like that there was no valet and that the parking was whatever I came up with in either the public parking deck or the street. At night the street is very loud. They do put a noise machine and ear plugs in your room to help with the late night noise. There is a destination fee and you can use it as a credit for drinks or food in the hotel bar. Kinda cool but the bar area was so icky. Sticky bar top. Kids were in there. I'm talking 5 year olds. Clean. Spacious. Nice.

I wanted to rate with 5 stars, but there were a couple things I have to note that push me to give the Moxy in downtown Boston an "ok" rating. I got a corner room with a nice view, but it also happened to be an accessibility room so the door had this interesting mechanism where it would automatically bust open upon key entry, stay locked open for several seconds, and then shut. If you try to pull it shut on your own, it's like playing tug-o-war! The room was definitely on the "cozy" side, meaning it was like a studio loft and meant for one person to move around in without too much issue. My only issue with getting a good night's rest was on the Friday night of my stay. A group of "hooligans" decided to have a dance party right outside the hotel at 2am and I was forced awake due to the noise disturbance. A limo was blasting music while people were dancing around it. I was definitely not happy at all, but when I called the front desk, they didn't do much to help and in fact, dismissed my complaint as if I shouldn't complain, given that it was a Friday night and that the hotel was "near a bunch of bars and clubs". I was taken aback by this attitude and this definitely influenced my lower star rating. Fortunately in the two nights after I didn't face issues with noise. The imposed "destination fee" is quite a drag...yes, you get a $30 credit each night of your stay to spend on food and drinks, but if you don't want to get your food needs met at the hotel, it can feel like a waste of money. I did manage to use it for breakfast on my last morning, and had some decent breakfast tacos, but I did not appreciate the ample amount of plastic waste right outside the hotel restaurant...instead of being lazy, they should for sure offer silverware and plates for in-dining patrons, and not just give everyone to-go cartons for their food. It was not even 10am when I saw the garbage right outside already full to the brim! Moxy hotels definitely bring a sense of style and feeling chic, but I found it to be overpriced for some of the things I experienced. There's also plenty of hotels in downtown Boston to choose from, so do your research beforehand to help decide what's best for your needs and what fits your priorities.

Great location. Surrounded by plenty of good eats, and things to do. More than likely you will be parking at the beach street garage which is about a 5 minute walk away. However there are parking spaces in the front so you can unload your bags first, which I wish I knew Before lugging them through ChinaTown When you walk in your greeted with an event calendar, we were disappointed that the Sunday DJ night was not happening as it said on the calendar but no biggie. We definitely want to come back and experience one of those events. 2nd floor is home to the front desk, as well as the bar. The customer service at both the bar and the front desk were good but nothing to write home about.... I will say we had an issue with our toilet not flushing when we got to the room as well as our key reader on the door dying, but they got someone on it and it was fixed right away. You do get a $35 voucher for each night you are staying, and coupons for free drinks. (as you do pay an equivalent resort fee each night) you can then vouchers use towards meals or drinks, but it can only be applied to one bill. This was nice as we had planned to have a meal and some drinks at the hotel one of the days we stayed. Admittedly the signature cocktail and the fig pizza were DELICIOUS! The rooms were very small and quaint. They had floor to ceiling windows... speaking of ceiling what is with the hostile cement ceilings!? Lol. They provide earplugs if you're bothered by the city noises or maybe if you're on a lower level the music may bother you. Overall I would love to stay here again, but I am young and enjoy a "quirkier" hotel experience, and I can see how it's not for everyone.

    Crystal M.

Great view from the room! My stay was flawless! There was a bar and a lot of seating down stairs. And also in a very convenient location.

On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.

Which I will say if you are looking for a place to stay for an event at TD Garden, good luck finding a better option than here! Check in staff and valet workers were friendly and greeted us with a smile. Rates were very reasonable for end of summer and with a concert so close. Room was smaller this stay around and our view was more of just a building with a small glance of TD Garden if you looked to the side. Overall a very clean room and still a good amount of space. Can not think of any complaints for our stay and would stay here again. They offer valet parking and anytime we needed the car it was quick to get it back. Inside the lobby/first floor they have plenty of seating and what they dub "The Bistro" that offers breakfast, dinner, and full bar and I believe Starbucks drinks too. Location wise it is quite ideal, obviously if your activities/work is in this area of Boston. Besides TD Garden it is also close to North station along with plenty of food and drink options. Personally for a morning coffee or matcha I say check out Blank Street Coffee, then food wise I would say take a quick walk to the North End or closer try Tavern In The Square. I called the hotel and left 4 messages with the accounting manager (I never received a call back) and tried for 9 days straight (to include filing multiple claims with Marriott Corporate) and they refused to refund me for the extra night and valet for the night. Their justification was that my car was parked in their garage that night (they must have a way to manipulate the valet time stamp) so they could not refund me for the night because that means we were at the hotel. I emailed both the manager and Marriott corporate my EZPass receipts (to prove we had left Boston the day we checked out) and they have yet to resolve this case. The environment was beautifully decorated for Christmas, like last year, and I had to take some pictures to have as desktop wallpaper on my computer. We had a very nice time and the selections on the menu were impressive. I went with the carrot cake chai black tea, mainly because it had pumpkin pie kinds of spices and vanilla rooibos. It tasted wonderful, like an autumnal tea, and all our teas came in beautifully decorated tea pots, apparently from Australia. The Four Seasons also does this interesting thing where they give you a liquor that fits with your tea order, to be added if you wish or drank by itself. I had a sip of mine and from someone else's, a bit strong for me but a bailey's one was alright. I'm fine with just tea myself! As for the food, this year's high tea was one of the best I've had. The menu was different from last year's, which was great too but in my opinion this seemed like an upgrade. Some of the food items included pieces of salmon in a little pastry, mini lobster roll, peking duck crepe, curried chicken croissant, a beautiful deviled egg, vanilla bean and brown butter scones, an eggnog tart, and a Santa hat shaped raspberry pastry. We even got some alternate options for a lactose sensitive person, so that's a great plus as well. The atmosphere was elegant and calming, and the service was great. The Four Seasons high tea was a very special holiday event, and comes highly recommended!
