I can't believe I've never been to Mozart's until this past weekend. When looking for a restaurant to host my party of 15, I decided to email them. I'm glad I did. Each staff member I worked with was helpful and professional. Our waitperson Susie was fantastic. She was warm, friendly, and did an excellent job explaining the menu. I had heard about this place for years, finally went (10.21.18). I had the pork schnitzel, and the other person had the beef stroganoff. Schnitzel would have been perfect, except for a very mild, rancid oil taste. Spatzel was delish; beef was an 8-9. Side salad was OK. Bloody Mary was off, too. You could taste (feel) the alcohol, but the tomato was too watery. We actually asked for a side of Worsteshire sauce for them...(sorry about the spelling). Sweets were good. A-. One thing, this place could use a good yearly cleaning. The little lucite ad holders on the tables were NASTY sticky and grungy, as were the wine menu and salt and pepper shakers. read more

Mozart's what has happened to you? I've been coming here for 20 years, but haven't visited in the last 5. Pastry recipes have changed and not for the better. The Hungarian goulash is still one of the best things on the menu. I miss the curry chicken salad! The smoked salmon sandwich had great quality salmon on it, but not much of it and the focaccia was so dry! They're serving focaccia with everything. Good with soup, way too dry as a sandwich. Way too dry to be served alone. The tiramisu has gone from the most amazing I've ever tasted to a very generic unimpressive version. The espresso in it is utterly tasteless and now there are sprinkles which just detract from the flavor of the cake. The cherry cheesecake was awful. A giant maraschino cherry on top of eggy custard. If we had tried it while we were still inside the restaurant, we would have sent it back. From the look of the other cakes and pastries in the case, they've changed everything. Mozart's has definitely missed the boat on changing with the times. Everything needs an update, but the recipes need to be changed back to the originals. The new location decor/setup looks like the cafeteria in a nursing home. It is possible to be a high end piano bar and cater to your aging demographic while still drawing customers (and REVENUE) from this generation of young foodies. You could start by telling your staff not to ignore groups of bright haired tattooed customers when they walk in the door. They looked at us like we were lost. read more

Mozart's has wonderful food...spaetzle, Hungarian Goulash, and delicious pastries. We've been going to their pop-up bakery on Saturdays during the quarantine... everything is as good as you get eating in but you take it home and reheat it. We have been getting Sunday dinners on Saturday and they have tasted fantastic, reheating easily with no problems. We've been eating here for many years... it reminds us of our trips to Europe! Crawford Mechanical had a Christmas party at Mozart's December 2, 2016. It was a little different kind of Christmas party, as I was bringing a casino company from Cincinnati OH to host the event. Mozart's did a phenomenal job setting up all of the tables and having everything and everyone in the perspective places. I was very nervous, as I have never done an event like this, and my employees were a little apprehensive of going in the first place. Well, it was a hit. Everyone had a wonderful time. Mozarts has the best dessert in town. Come here for coffee and dessert, but make sure to get a table in the restaurant. There are little cafe tables in the front that are very uncomfortable. There is often a piano player that adds to the ambiance. I love the Napoleons, but there haven't been any the last few times. The petit fours are delicious-- definitely try the peach and the chocolate bourbon. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. The mushroom soup is fantastic. Make sure you try a cup with your meal. The club sandwich can't be beat. We love Mozart's for coffee and brunch but recent held a private event in their back room and it was great! We worked with Janelle, who was wonderful. She was easy to reach, gave us lots of different options for food and drinks, and made the whole planning process smooth. It was a wonderful space for a baby shower. Hadn't been to Mozart's in the new location. Beautiful! We had excellence service. I had the pumpkin strudel , husband omelet with breakfast potatoes and whole wheat toast. He said it was perfect, even mentioned how good his toast was. Son, chicken paprikash, he's 14, and he cleaned his plate, even veggies. We took our pastries to go, but they are mouthwatering. The new Mozart's location is superb. Finally, enough space to have a leisurely cup of java and dessert with friends without feeling like you're on top of the other patrons. What the owners have done with redoing this building (formerly a rug shop) is amazing. All my traditional favorites are still offered in a space finally worthy of a European name. Only small gripe: service at the tables can still be spotty. Our high tea there was disappointing two weeks ago, partially due to the server's slowness and lack of knowledge about the tea. read more

Took my family here for dinner last night and overall, was very happy. I had no idea what to expect as I remembered shopping for rugs in this location before it was a restaurant. We were all impressed by the little touches, fresh flowers at table, cleanliness and table setting. Comparing ambiance and quality to cost - this place has a lot going for it. Oh, and Arnettte Howard happened to be playing horn and singing this evening - this was a great treat. Food was delicious. We primarily stuck with the German-dishes. I had the special: pork, spaetzel, and red cabbage. We were pleasantly surprised and I believe that all three kids cleaned their plates. Came here for brunch today with the family and I can definitely say that I'll be back; for tea that is. Don't get me wrong, the place offers yummy pastries, good coffee and tea, plus they have excellent service, but the food was okay. My Blue Danube omelet was overbearing in cheese but I found the breakfast potatoes to be outstanding. I also tried the Hungarian Goulash and that was hearty and rich as well, but I guess you just have to be cautious about what you order here. read more

Food was good. However, waiter seemed challenged and had difficulty serving the table. He brought a refresh of drinks. Took our dirty glasses and refilled them. I had been to the old location a couple times but just went to the new location when they were having open time for kids during some of the snow days. It is a great location with good parking, banquet space, a good menu, helpful staff, etc. Especially compared to the old location it feels really spacious and you don't feel like you're tripping over tables. I was also surprised by how kid-friendly they were in the main area and definitely will hit it up for brunch sometime. read more

At Mozarts yesterday and had a horrible lunch! There were 5 of us and 2 of us got the special and it was so dry we could hardly eat it. Two others food was extremely salty. The waitress ask how our meal was and 2 of us told her how it was and she agreed it even looked dry. We paid full price. That' s my second experience with a lousy meal, I won't be back and neither will my friends. read more

I mainly come here for pastries (which are amazing) and coffee. I love the piano player. I think there are 2 of them and they are most absolutely fantastic. My musician friend says that they are concert level pianists. All I know is that one of my favorite ways to relax is with a coffee, apple strudel, a book, and listening to piano. read more

My husband and I are in Columbus to celebrate his birthday. Our friend Bev recommended Mozarts to us. We were very happy with our pork tenderloin sandwiches with delicious fresh fruit. Our server Tiegen (sp. ) was excellent. And the chocolate sonata cakes we chose, one, with apricot preserves and the other with rich buttercream covered in caramel were decadent. I used to go to the old location when I lived in Columbus... went back over thanksgiving because I wanted to bring a Sacher torte home with me .. staff was extremely courteous and helpful when it came to storing the cake properly given I had a seven hour drive and no way to refrigerate it .. the cake survived the trip and I have to say it is the only true Sacher I have tasted this side of the Atlantic ... as far as their regular food I remember they used to make killer schnitzels and I will make a point to go there for lunch or dinner next time I'm in town read more

I won't be back. There were at least two employees for every customer there. Despite this, my wife and I sat for 5 to 10 minutes waiting for a server. We even put our menus down to make it apparent that we were ready to order. No drinks, no water, not even acknowledgement that we existed. The manager even walked by and instructed servers to help a couple that arrived several minutes after us. No one even noticed we were leaving or addressed us on the way out. Great place for a special event! We belong to the oldest German Singing Society in the United States. We have celebrated our annual Christmas Party at Mozart's for several years and are planning on coming back again this year. Pleasing 30+ ladies is not easy - but Mozart's is getting it done! I'll give you the looks for the food and cakes they offer but the taste of cake is bland and its just plain. for the price they put, i think its pricey for that kind of cake. Don't get me wrong, It was a okay cake. It was moist and all but just not quite to the point where i say its good. I went there on a weekend around noon. There were only 3-5 customer there (two tables, three including mine) They also had a group of musician practicing there too. It wasn't great at all. Pretty much playing random notes. Anyone that wrote a great review must be a relative of the owners! Service was so slow, I thought we were never going to get our lunch and none of the items we ordered needed prep work. We got the two items our waitress recommended quiche which was luke warm and served with two pieces of bland toast and the salmon salad containing lettuce which had obviously just been dumped out of an uninteresting prewashed bag, had a couple of grape tomatoes thrown on and somewhat decent smoked salmon on top. I have been here and the old location many times and while the cakes and scones are delicious, the service here is unbearable. Don't act like you are a high class restaurant just because you have a $250 truffle with gold plated paper. There is no excuse for the poor service and snobby waiter at the pastry area. I ordered a cake here and wanted a "happy birthday" chocolate piece decoration on it and was told that it's impossible because "they don't have a baker here". This is at noon and half of your store is a bakery and you don't have a baker on staff ??? Should I be worry that your pastries are days old then? When I was paying for the cake, he took my card and then handed me the recipe and left. He didn't even pack the cake or stay to take the signed recipe. I actually had to chase him down to give him his copy of the recipe because there was no place to put it. As good as some of their pastries are, their services have been so poor way too many times for me to ever come back. Pistachio vera in German village and north market has cakes that are just as good if not better minus the terrible service. And if you want scones, try the hazelnut one at North Star down the street. read more
