My husband and I have eaten here before which is why we chose to go here the other day. Usually the service is good and we like the ambiance of the place. There are a lot of pictures and artsy things hanging around. We hadn't been in a while because my husband thought the place was closed for some reason. But to our surprise it wasn't and we decided to give it a try again. They don't have a liquor license-which I notice is pretty common here in NJ for restaurants to have a BYOB policy due to no liquor license. Despite this, we've usually liked the food here. This time I ordered the short rib dish which was about $30 which I was assured was a good choice and my husband ordered shrimp scampi. Now good is subjective right, as it pertains to food, it's all based on your individual palette. To keep it 100% the short rib left much to be desired and was short on short rib, heavy on noodles, and lacked all sort of flavor and personality. To say the least I took a few bites and just could not do it. My husbands shrimp scampi was similar as it as a bit bland as he described it but he was able to doctor it up. We explained this to the waiter and instead of taking it seriously he just nodded and said would you like me to box it or take it away. That was the extent of his care. He was an attentive waiter but his ability to solve an issue related to the quality of the food was despicable. My husband paid the bill, but I won't recommend this place to eat for us in any near future. Especially since they cannot stand behind the quality of their food. This was a disappointment by far especially the nonchalant attitude of the waiter. Give the place a try for yourself, but please do not try that short rib dish! I was in the mood for Italian recently because I haven't had it in a while, so I ordered from Mozzarella for my Italian fix. Got the chicken Francese with Angel hair pasta. I enjoyed it, however, the chicken wasn't very saucy..but it was still delicious and fresh nonetheless. If I order from here again, I'll probably request that they make the chicken a little bit more saucy or put it in a separate container. Upon walking up to mozzarella, you're greeted with this corner property that is dark and alluring with beautiful lighting & red napkins, first thing through the windows. When you enter the front is like any other pizzeria where you can order a slice for take away. Once you come around there's a full seating area, equipped for small and large groups. My partner had a margarita pie and a kale Caesar salad. Both were beautiful and tasty. I had the pesto with homemade pasta and grilled salmon. Also beautiful and tasty. I think the food is reasonably priced and the servers mean well. They want you to enjoy your experience and get exactly what you want. Service was amazing. My friend and I went here for lunch on a Wednesday and they were empty. You walk in and it's a pizza counter but then to your right is an elegant dining area. My friend said they mastered a balance of casual and fancy dining. He also said he'd give this place five stars based on service. Andrew was our server. He was super informative and personable. I got the crispy eggplant sliders and penne vodka. The crispy eggplant sliders were delicious. I enjoyed that the slider is on garlic knots. I would get this again. The penne vodka was good, but I'd try something else. My friend got a salad which looked super yummy. This is a good place for a date. I've been to Mozz two separate times. I enjoy the modern Italian menu. I like a good red sauce joint as much as anybody else but we have enough of 'em around here. I think I accidentally got the same thing or similar both times because all the ingredients appeal to me so much. I ordered the Mediterranean pasta (I chose the pappardelle) which is tossed with a slow-roasted cherry tomato confit, capers, Kalamata olives and crisp, seasoned toasted breadcrumbs. I've also had the same server twice and he is VERY attentive and will carefully describe items to you and suggest his recommendations. The ambiance is casual and the decor is a sleek clean modern situation. There's a lickee store right across the street if you want to BYO. We visit Mozzarella for lunch on a Saturday. The space is very sweet and elegantly decorated, especially for the holidays. The lunch was fine, it wasn't anything we would have to return for. I. always try to support local businesses when possible. Hence my wanting to visit Mozarella again. First time I visited was about a year ago. I can't remember what I ordered and don't think I left a review, but I do recall that whatever I ate tasted good. I also remember the very large calamari rings that were very chewy and only 2 or three was what I could eat. I prefer the smaller ones. So back I go and visited yesterday, May 19, to this cute and homey restaurant. Our server was the very polite and sweet Halit, who we didn't see again after he delivered our very meager salad. I'll forgive him this time. He was the server last time and was polite then. So I'll cut him a break for being a Houdini. Our order (to be shared and brought out by another server) was as follows: Appetizers: Greek salad. Ordered the regular at &14.95, not an appetizer. It was supposed to arrive with lettuce, tomatoes, red, green, bell peppers, red onions, feta and kalamata olives. What I got was more like a cheap salad. It resembled one of those little salads that you get on a little side dish with just lettuce and tomatoes at a local takeout pizzeria. I so wish I had taken a photo. But the person that I was with immediately started serving the salad and we started talking, which is when I realize that I forgot to take a picture, when we were foraging for the promised items that were not delivered. For $14.95, I got two little Kalamata olives. Lots of lettuce, a few tidbits of green and red pepper and two itty-bitty pieces of feta cheese. Seriously, no lie I am not exaggerating here. Fried calamari with the red sauce. Still the big rings, but with extra crunch and less chewing. A bit over fried for my tastes. Wild mushroom ravioli: listed as having a filling of ricotta and wild mushroom, fresh Italian herbs, and wild mushroom truffle cream sauce on a bed of baby arugula in lemon poppyseed dressing. Oh wow this sounded so delish! It was good, but on paper! Someone must have mixed up the lemon poppyseed and gave me balsamic. I don't like balsamic vinaigrette unless it's balsamic fig. Nowhere did I taste mushroom truffle cream sauce or any type of lemon poppy. It just tasted like balsamic. I did see poppy seeds but I know for a fact that some balsamic was in there. The other dish we got was a Ricotta cheese ravioli with pesto sauce. The pesto sauce was definitely lacking in flavor. It needed salt. It needed flavor. It needed to taste like pesto. Maybe the basil wasn't fresh. I'm beginning to feel very cheated. Thankfully, that is all we ordered. This time around the meal was not so great. I think Houdini knew this, which is why he was hiding. He must've been onto something I don't know. I did call him over and told him about my meager Greek salad that really wasn't Geeek. He said he will speak to the manager and get back to me. So he returned and said that they can order me a new salad to take home. At this point, I no longer want a salad. I requested 50% off the salad and he said he will speak to the manager. He returned and said that they can only offer us 25% off, which turned out to be $3.50. So they would have rather give me an entire salad than to remove at least 50% and chance a less than stellar review. Did I tell you folks that I feel very, very, very cheated? Would I return maybe, last resort if I can't find another place to eat last minute. I don't know. Maybe try the pizza pies, which looked good. I want to give them another chance, but... PS: bread is not offered here. For the broke folks, there is a five dollar liquor fee for byob. My bottle had a screw cap, but they did bring two glasses and one of the tall thin buckets of ice. If you want to savefuve bucks, skip the ice bucket and glasses and take a swig out of the bottle and maybe you will. read more

The 18% goes to the restaurant, not the wait staff... it's not a tip. They also pay the wait staff a "living wage," as explained to me by our waiter. So tipping is optional. None of this is explained beyond the note on the menu... "18% charged for dine in." So that's my criticism... it should be explained. Don't make me have to ask the waiter what it all means. The classic cheese pie is very basic and nothing special at all. Tasted a bit bland. Mozzerella sticks were awful. They can't read or follow instructions either, I noted no Parmesan for the meatball side and of course it came with Parmesan. After seeing a friend visit this spot and a couple of Tik Tok-ers I had to visit as I LOVE mozzarella sticks! Ambiance: Warm and cozy. They have Christmas decor as well as a tree up right now. For apps, we started off the mozzarella sticks which come with 4 in an order ($9). The cheese pull? IT'S SERIOUS! The mozzarella sticks were nicely breaded on the outside, cheesy on the inside. Paired with marinara sauce for dipping it was a great start to our meals. This spot has so much to choose from so it was hard to narrow it down. I decided on the fettuccine alfredo ($15) with shrimp ($6); super good! The portion was enough to take home for dinner too. $6 for shrimp was cheap for the size and amount they loaded in my pasta. Really good find! We actually found this spot from no eats tik tok LOL, definitely lived up to the hype. It was byob so we brought a bottle of wine to enjoy with all the food. For pizzas we got the spinach pie which was amazing, has feta and olives which adds a nice flavor twist. We also got the pesto pie which was really good. You've GOT to get the mozzarella sticks here, that cheese pull was unreal. And finally we got the eggplant parm special with vodka sauce pasta as our side. Definitely a bit tight in the seating area (I thought it was larger when looking up pics), but the service was quick and the place was clean so I was a happy camper.
