Horrible customer service. I placed my order on Ubereats and it was clearly communicated. The two pizzas that came were entirely incorrect. I called immediately to let the store know the order was wrong. He blamed the delivery guy and then told me I had to do a better job at figuring out what I want. He was completely rude, even though HE messed up the order. The pizza was trash. What we tried to eat was unflavored and bland. Pretty sure it wasn't fully cooked through. Don't order from here. We ordered four Italian cheesesteaks from here. It's about $9 a piece. We were sorely disappointed that the sandwiches were primarily French fries, onions and bread. The proportion between the meat and toppings is way off that you can barely taste the beef. My friend who ordered hers with onions said there was way too much. Pizza is pretty good. Crust is different than most places, reminds me of pan pizza. If I go again, I'll be sticking to that. Oh and dude who answers the phone can be rude and impatient. Ever been so insulted, shocked, and angry that all you can do is be pissed and then have a delayed cry in the car? Went to pick up pizzas for a school function (I am not a student, but a full grown adult.) The order was paid in advanced and was told that someone would pick them up (pickup person being me). I was late by like 15-20 minutes because of traffic. The older man working spoke broken english, so I don't know if he didn't understand me and tried to have me buy pies. I kept declining and saying I was picking up for the school. He wouldn't give me the pizzas even though I said I was picking up for the school event and that the order was paid for. He finally understood. He then said why are you so late. The pizza boxes were on top of the oven so they weren't in the way. And proceeds to say to me "Ni hao". He asked me where I was from and if I was Filipino. He then proceeds to make fun of my voice and the way I speak (mind you, I speak perfect English.) It's been a while since someone has done the racist "ni hao" thing to me and asked me where I was from. Internally, I'm seething. I know I'm not the first Asian person he's seen, since the pizzaria is right by Seton Hall, so asking me where I'm from was uncalled for. I'm a mix of angry, shocked, and disgusted. I know that we are in the midst of a pandemic but the pizza that I got just now tastes like pizza from a fried chicken joint. It absolutely was not fresh pizza. It was hard and the crust was inedible - I gave it to my dog. If there was any cheese on the pizza - it must've soaked into the pizza days ago. This is the first time in my life that I actually had to doctor up a piece of pizza and I'm in my late 60s. Check out the photos. I have lived in Maplewood/South Orange since i was 12 years old went to the High School,my family still lives there even though i do not anymore etc etc. I love pizza and could eat it it every day in some shape or form. But if you are looking for GREAT pizza then El grecos is it. It kind a hole in the wall type place, not very flashy with bright signs and what not. It blends in to the surrounding neighborhood like i think most place should. Dont get me wrong, i like domino and other pizza establishments but when i get home from philly that is automatically one of the first things i want to eat ...after my grandmothers cooking of course lol. If you decide to walk in they handle you order quickly and timely as it could be considering these are all hand made and not mass produced. This along with the aforementioned reasons add to the overall appeal of the both the place and pizza. No frills pizzeria for sure. The restaurant is nothing to look at and the bathroom is absolutely disgusting. It looks very dirty and peaked my awareness in keeping my eyes open for unwanted critters. When asking for toilet paper for the restroom, I was met with the question of "there's no paper in there?"...uhh no, that's why I'm asking for some. There weren't enough rolls in the establishment to cover the toilet seat to even mildly invite me to sit down. My fiance and I have only eaten in-house once, it's not really my style to dine on lawn furniture, since the first time that we visited together we have only made pick up orders to eat back at home. Which brings me to why this is a 3 star rating given my negative feelings toward almost everything but their food....their pizza is mighty yummy. The crust is always crispy, always greasy, and not too much sauce. Their pizza tastes good cold the next day, which for me helps to divide the good from the not so good. Our typical order consists of a plain pie and an order of french fries so I can't speak much to the rest of the menu, but if you're looking for a good pie in the Maplewood/South Orange area, give El Greco's a try. read more

I've ordered from them before via Grubhub and they delivered to my town with no issues but probably because I ordered online and they already charged my card so they had to fulfill my order. So today I called because I didn't feel like using card being that I have cash on hand. When they finally picked the phone I told them that it was an order for delivery and she okay and proceeded to take my order then we got to the details of my address and then she put the phone down. In the background I hear her telling someone else my address then she tells me that they don't deliver right now and when I inquired as to why, she hung up. I'm been eating out from El Greco for close to 20 years... Always loved their food even when more popular pizzerias popped up in the area. This one particular night I order a pepperoni pie to be delivered. Nearly an hour goes by and I call to question the holdup, the owner picks up and says "oh he's leaving now." No apology and abruptly hangs up. I don't make a big deal out of it, I wait another five minutes and the delivery guy arrives with a cooled down plain pizza. I told him rather nicely that I ordered a pepperoni, he says ok takes the box out of my hand and leaves, I quickly call the owner again and he says did you pay, I tell him no I gave it back, he says good and again hangs up on me. At this point I'm infuriated. I drive down to the pizzeria and voice my concern, the owner was so arrogant. He said my guy brought you the pizza and you didn't want it, I said no he brought the wrong pizza. Ok what do u want me to do about it, still no apology. I went there today to get a chicken parmesan sandwich this is perhaps one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had in my life first off I was the only person at El Greco at lunch time it still took the guy behind the counter I think is the owner almost half an hour to make my sandwich. he burned it to a crisp some of the roll was actually charcoal. when I complained he agreed to make another sandwich this time he took the meat from the first sandwich put it on a roll with some sauce and very little cheese put it in the oven and when I got my sandwich the bread was ice cold I took 2 bites realized the sandwich was completely inedible especially after discovering the Franken chicken hockey puck that passed for the meat. I paid for the soda I purchased but refused to pay for the meal at which point the owner became rude and abusive I guess it's okay for him to serve in edible food you're just not allowed to complain about it. he accused me of cheating him because I ate 2 bites of the sandwich which was not even a quarter of one half. I have lived in this town for 20 years and have never eaten there before and will never eat there again.
