My group of six visited MQ Healthy Food for an early, healthy dinner before a long international flight. We were warmly welcomed by a very friendly and passionate staff member, who might have been the manager or owner--I'm not entirely sure. He patiently answered all our questions in depth and made great suggestions. We each ordered different entrees, and I chose a combo plate which comes with one protein, one vegetable, and two sides. I opted for salmon as my protein, and mixed grains and black beans as my sides. My meal was tasty, filling, and nutritious. Everyone in my group also felt the same about their entrees. So let me start by saying this was my second visit here and I guess I didn't leave a review the first time. The first time I came was about a year ago when it first opened and was remodeled and I was not impressed for the price point so I never came back. Recently some friends said they really liked it, so I thought why not give it another try? I have to say, I really did like it and they changed up their menu so that it was reasonable and you order from the menu the way you want eat. For example, pick a salad; or a salad and a protein; or a salad, protein and two sides. There is a lot of versatility so you should be able to get something for everyone. I got the apple salad and the chicken cutlet (really a chicken katsu). Felt like it was a nice combination of healthy and a little bit bad so a good compromise hahahah. The lady at the front counter was very nice and explained how the menu worked since I was initially confused. There is a sign saying they don't expect a tip because they want you to come back and they make the tip screen disappear quick so you don't feel guilty but there is a cash tip jar if you want to leave a tip. Lol. Still some pressure but not as much! The restaurant has a nice soft ambient lighting. Since you pick up your own food from the counter and help yourself to water you don't feel rushed to eat and run. So why the 3 stars since it sounds like I enjoyed it? Honestly, and I hate to say this, but it's cuz the people putting the your food on the plate (you can watch them) either didn't have gloves on or had one glove on but moved things on the plate with the ungloved hand. It was my first time trying MQ and right after my first bite of food, I knew I wanted to come back. MQ offers healthy alternatives to fast food and they had a great selection to choose from. They also have lots of seating and it was really clean - it seems like it would also be great for families and groups. The service was friendly with helpful and patient staff. They were great at answering our questions and explaining items. The food came out quickly and it was carefully packed. I appreciate that they put parchment paper between my chicken and the salad - it's about the small details! I ordered crispy chicken breast and a fresh kale smoothie. MQ has reopened with new owners, new workers and a new menu. They're currently doing a 20% off the bill until the end of the month for grand opening. Prices are very reasonable since they mentioned they don't request tip since you bust your own table. The menu is much more simplified than before which is a good and a bad thing. Good is it's easier to order and decide. Bad since there were things we liked on the menu such as burgers and sandwiches that aren't available anymore. The food was simple, tender and delicious. It's not big enough to feel bloated or have leftovers. Instead once you're done with your meal, you'll feel good and satisfied. My husband really enjoyed his breaded chicken breast as did I with the two baby back ribs on a bed of kale salad. All in all, we will return for another meal. PS. Chicken Rice Bowl for $15 This comes with two types of rice, vegetables, chicken, cabbage salad, a fruit and a dressing. The chicken was good and I like how they added nuts to it. The dressing was too spicy for me, I have no idea what it was. It was very strong and spicy. I just ate the salad by itself and didn't use the dressing. This place has been on & off my radar for a while now since hearing about it through my Next Door & Facebook social media. Unfortunately, I never find myself in the area during dinner time to try it, but tonight we were coming back from a movie at Tanforan and I decided to finally give it a go, here is my review: Conveniently located in the ECR in Central Downtown Millbrae close to freeways, shopping, business, and public transportation. The lot has amply parking since it was a massive Burger King originally (since when I was a kid). They even retained the drive-thru and use it, nice feature! The restaurant is very huge, airy, lots of windows, and seating is very well laid out to accommodate lots of diners while giving parties space & privacy. There are conference rooms and an outdoor enclosed patio with heaters if you feel like eating communally. Music is low and unobtrusive and things here are generally clean. Owner is very friendly & positive. Greeted us, offered a free mug of ginger tea (which was delicious), and walked us through the menu and ordering process. Lots of variety and customization options here, almost endless. You can see all the sides and fixings displayed up front to better help you select your menu. They were very knowledgeable & passionate about the quality and source and preparation of their ingredients, we talked for about 10 minutes about healthy eating before I even ordered! Went with two salmon teriyaki dinners. The filets were gigantic, I loved that. Good value in today's expensive dining out times. The sides we chose were sort of hit and miss. Got sweet potatoes, kale salad, cooked vegetables, wild rice, and some sort of barley & quinoa mixture. The ingredients were very fresh, but I couldn't help thinking that the entire meal tasted like an extremely healthy person's home-cooking. Almost zero seasoning, no salt, no spice. It was my impression that this place is truly Healthy Foods, very low in fat, no sodium, and a balanced food pyramid. While I do like to eat healthy, I guess I'm just used to a lot more flavor when dining out. I did end up putting my own salt-to-taste and a bit more dressing on my salad, so maybe I ruined the healthy factor for myself, lol. Food was very good & fresh, I just felt that it was a little bland for my tastes. They do offer a condiment and seasoning bar, which I'm sure other people must use frequently like myself. Very good tilapia plate for dinner. Price is great for a portion that will easily fill you up. The seating area is so comfortable and we would love to come again. This is the place to go when you are too lazy to cook dinner and don't want to settle for heavy and greasy fast food. the price of this healthy meal may have even been less than what I would pay at some chain restaurants. The service was an extra bonus, even though you order from a QR code at the table, the owner Lance checked on us several times and offered us complimentary ginger tea. I definitely understand the high ratings of this place. We came here as a last-minute pit stop before going to the airport, and needed something fast and delicious. MQ delivered on that amazingly. The person who served me was one of the owners- she was kind, informative about the menu and recommended the kale salad with the tofu mushroom stew for us. It was a healthy vegetarian option that wouldn't spoil on a long airplane ride. The portion size was also big for only $8.99, a price almost unheard of in the Bay area. Afterwards on the plane, I inhaled that salad so quickly. The sesame ginger dressing was so good, and perfectly balanced with the crunchy kale/beets and soft tofu/mushrooms. After being closed for two months, they came back with an even better menu. They now offer local beers, they have wine and coffee bar. They even have soft music playing, we enjoyed it. They have a decent selection of sweets. Tarts, cakes, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and brownies. The one thing that we're glad didn't change is the service, Lance and his crew are so friendly. I had to order my usual, I had the teriyaki salmon. It come with rice, edamame, and salad. I really wish they would let you add potatoes and mushrooms instead, but they don't let you substitute. Great option for healthy meals that are not just your typical salads. My wife and I have driven past so many times and have been wanting to try it but then they closed for a few months. After re-opening we thought it would be perfect to try them out. The menu is a little hard to figure out but I think it's because they want to give you a lot of options for your meal. My wife and I had the plates so had choice of protein and a couple of sides. The tilapia was REALLY good - very tender, moist, and good flavor. The crispy chicken breast was also tender and cooked just right - not too dry, not as much flavor but the sauces help supplement that. I've been wanting to try MQ for some time now. Looking on Yelp, I was interested in the healthy options this fast food joint had to offer. We finally made it here for lunch. The location is right on El Camino and there is a parking lot. MQ also offers drive-thru. There is plenty of space to eat there. We opted to order and eat there in the small outdoor dining area. Upon placing my order by scanning the QR code in store and placing it online, I asked about the free can of sparkling water that comes as part of checking in on Yelp. Lance, the owner, said he would bring it right out to me. A few minutes later, Lance came to our table with three cans of sparkling water for us. He was super friendly and truly showed an interest in how we heard about his place, what city we live, our names, etc. He went onto give us an overview of their mission as far as serving up healthy, good quality food and plans to expand to a larger menu with beer and wine. He said the pandemic impacted them quite a bit but business is slowly picking up again. Our food arrived fast. Everything was tasty and fresh. This has been my fave place since I tried it a month ago and it really is healthy and fresh!! I am vegetarian so the mushroom and tofu protein is my go to with avocado, quinoa, black beans, salsa and salad for the combo plate. For drinks I tried the mango smoothie which was yummy but the house ginger hot tea has been my go to coz it's been cold. Just recently I tried the Nutella crepe with strawberries and whip cream, really yummy too. The ambiance is so chill, I sit in the back room with the bench seating and can work. Finally got to try takeout from MQ Healthy Fast Food one rain filled Saturday earlier last month. I only wished I tried them sooner, and before their renovation too. I decided to get the crispy chicken bowl, and my husband got the crispy chicken sandwich. Online ordering was easy, and from the pics my hubs sent me when he went inside to pick up the other set, the space is huge, and really nice like a modern coffee shop. The breaded chicken wasn't greasy at all, and was quite tasty and moist. I got a choice of a salad dressing and a dipping sauce for the chicken. For the salad dressing I chose a sesame vineagrette, and the green sauce for dipping. The green sauce was a bit creamy and does pack some spice but I loved it, the vinegarette was pleasing too. The forbidden rice was fine but a tad on the dry side. The dish came with forbidden rice, which was a tad dry, half an avocado, peeled orange, and cut up sweet potato. A very filling and healthy but still pleasing dish. He enjoyed his crispy chicken sandwich as well (same concept as my chicken). Several weeks later, wanting to be healthy-ish, we decided on a brunch takeout from MQ. I got the breakfast crepe, and he got the pancakes. The breakfast crepe is a an egg based crepe wrapped like a burrito filled to the brim with plenty of sausage, egg and avocado. It comes with a cup of assorted fresh sliced fruit. It's hearty, but doesn't make you feel guilty because it's not super heavy or greasy. The pancakes were plentiful, fluffy and moist with a touch of sweet coconut cream. Lastly, last week we had a really late lunch from MQ. I got the children's chicken katsu sandwich. It was so big that it could've totally passed for an adult menu item. Crispy, moist and came with condiments and fixings to round it out. The inside of the restaurant looks so nice like a mod coffee shop. Wow! What a gem I found today. I am trying to eat healthy and I was looking to start the new year eating more plant based meals and MQ was an awesome choice! I got the tofu mushroom meal with black beans and rice. The brown rice was sooo good and the little onion tomato salad that came with it really compliments the flavors. And yes people there is a drive thru! The lady that took my order was so sweet and cute! She was older and it felt like my mom or my Tia was making me lunch . Ample parking too I am so glad I didn't go to taco bell lol. The ambiance felt down home as they took their time making my meal I waited 4 min tops. I will be coming back here again! read more

Delicious, filling salmon teriyaki bowl was had!!! I asked for the house green sauce as suggested by other reviewers but that was missed from the order, but that doesn't stop me from giving 5 stars to this place because of how tasty the food was. Another thing, drive-thru option is GENIUS. I don't know why all restaurants not have drive throughs. On most days I am lazy, don't want to meet people, want to sit in my car, order, and eat in my car. Though the idea is brilliant and it is being executed, it would be great if a tentative waiting time is provided at the time the order is taken. I waited for 20 mins at the window before my food arrived. There's very little communication once order is placed and I think that could be improved. But the food? I don't even know how to describe except say it's incredibly flavorful and filling! They use compostable containers and that's a plus too. Though a little pricey, I think you get the bang for your buck since food contains Non-GMO healthy ingredients that will keep you satiated for long. Easy to find parking in the area, and easy to get to from 101. Definitely coming back for more!!! read more

This place has been on my radar for some time. I read the Yelp list of 100 best places and there it was at number 7. It's not far from me and every time I pass it I'm like I should give it a try. Well I did and it's really really good. Fast friendly service and the food is amazing. Awesome choices, that's the real challenge, what will I have today. Everything we got we enjoyed. We will be back to do more menu exploring. We came on a Sunday around 12:30 and it wasn't busy at all. The baseball game was on so we dined in. We tried the chicken bowl and a California burrito. We both like them! Although we didn't realize the burrito had eggs in it so we switched when they were delivered. The service was a little slow but we enjoyed a complimentary cookie. Reading reviews when deciding to try this place, I was skeptical they could legitimately have that many 5 stars. Having eaten here now I can totally see why! Ordered a crispy chicken bowl which was phenomenal with a good mix of veggies and lean chicken while tasting very light with what seemed like nearly zero oil. Also was given a sample of their ginger tea which was great; fresh sliced ginger made a big difference! Topped off the meal with a couple of cookies and while they tasted great, what stood out to me most was how lean they were from a butter/sugar standpoint. Just the right amount of lightly sweet while still packing flavor. Great service and really friendly staff, will definitely be back! read more
