We were two people and would have given a bigger tip if one was not already on the bill. Minimal seafood in the soup but what they had wad good quality and the creamy base - delicious. My fried shrimp had a nice thick breading, plenty of shrimp, good tarter sauce and coleslaw. This is my first visit here. Others in my party have been here before. I am giving it a 4-star because the service was a little slow especially with the drinks. Even the second round of drinks was slow. Maybe they were short staffed on a Wednesday night. However, the drinks were good. The seafood platter and the lobster salad were repeaters from others. First time customer for take out. I live so close and delivery was about 40 mins after order received. Ordered the fried oysters, lobster mac and cheese ( based on others glowing reviews) and coleslaw. Fried oysters were hot upon arrival-tasted fresh-battered perfectly. Pretty good. Great tarter sauce. First bite into mac and cheese-which was also hot- I was not blown away..kind of a strange taste..not at creamy, dry noodles, but I forged on. Found maybe at most a Tbsp of lobster-all in miniscule cuts, which were so dry and rubbery that I could not even say it was lobster. Definitely some form of imitation seafood-or dyed horribly old frozen lobster. Did not look or taste like lobster. Prices exorbitant but I was willing to pay the additonal $11.00 add on for quality, fresh lobster. I did not get that. Coleslaw was decent but would not return for this. Happened to be seeing a show in the are and needed a place to have lunch with the family. We happened to find this place that was not too far from where we were. We went on a Sunday they were able to sit my large group of 13 people. We ordered drinks to start. They have unlimited drinks for brunch but they also have a variety of cocktails. I ordered the drunken gummy bears cocktail and the Honey comb. Both were really good! For food I ordered the clam chowder soup, which I liked that it was not salty or too heavy. And for main course I had the Connecticut lobster roll and it came with fries. Good portions, the lobster roll was fresh and the fries were seasoned. Pamela was our server and she was so friendly, patient with our group and very helpful. She was the best and made our experience the best. I recommend this place. The price was very affordable which was amazing when I saw how big the portion was. Let's just say I have food for days now. I was very pleased at how delicious everything was. I say this because in a review or two I noticed people talking about the service being slow. It really wasn't when I was there. And everyone seemed friendly as well. We have been here twice now and both times it was great. We went around 9:00 on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy at all. The waitress came and took our drink orders. She let us know that they automatically add 15% gratuity to the bill. That's usually a bad idea, as I would too more than that if they didn't. We ordered fried calamari and a spinach dip appetizers. The calamari was excellent. Spinach dip had a thick layer of melted cheese on top. Not my favorite, but others in the group liked it. We all ordered the seafood boil. We had crawfish and shrimp boils with the Mr Crab sauce, spicy with sausage. Yummmm! The sauce is so good. The crawfish was great. It's a lot of work, so I may try the shrimp next time. The two that had that said it was really good. It's comes with potato and corn. Wish I had more potatoes to soak up that sauce! Overall, service and food were great. Rustic decor and nice ambience. I had this on my list and wasn't disappointed. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure all three of us had what we needed at every moment. We sat at a bench type table with enough room to sit six adults comfortably. We started off with a side of clam strips. Now, I have been eating strips along time so I know when clams are great or decent. These had no real bite of clams and mostly breading. Was a little disappointed. They came in a cute fry basket and had a really good mango chutney dipping sauce on the side. I didn't taste the clam unfortunately . Hubby and I decided on sliders with fries as our entree. My girlfriend had the king crab boil with corn and potatoes. She loved hers. Big chunks of crab and good seasonings. Hubby had the shrimp po-boy . Three filled sliders with delish thick shrimp . A little surprised by all the bad reviews! Went for lunch today and was VERY pleasantly surprised... a friend swore this place was awesome, and I only went because I trust him on all things food. I really don't get the bad reviews! Our waitress was fantastic, super friendly & attentive. We got the boil for 2 and added crawfish... so so so good! Definitely add the crawfish, they are bomb (and now that Black Duck is going downhill fast, I'm excited to have a new place for them!). I've been wanting to come here for a while and I was highly disappointed. All I wanted was a good quality lobster roll. While the meal seemed like a good value at $22 for a good sized lobster roll, fries and cole slaw, the lobster roll was mostly claw meat with little flavoring. Also, the roll was excessively greasy and buttery for no good reason. It would've been different if it was a flavorful butter but this wasn't. There was so much grease it soaked all the way to the bottom of the roll and into the takeout container. Unappetizing and inedible, unless you like eating your way to a heart attack. And as someone else said, the website does say Mr. Crab Sedfood in the title, as well as other typos on the menu. Maybe these were my warning signs *sigh*. Almost forgot! As I waited for my take out order, on the menu in small print I read mandatory 15% gratuity for all dine in orders. What's that all about? I'm surprised by the iffy reviews. We've been here 3 times and had a fantastic experience every time. The service was spectacular every time. Delicious food! Our go-to dishes are mac & cheese, white wine garlic mussels, lobster bisque, bbq baby back ribs, and shrimp seafood boils. We particularly like the Mr. Crab Special spicy sauce. It's not spicy, just more flavorful. Lemon Garlic Butter sauce is AMAZING. The cajun sauce is pretty bland - our least favorite out of all of the options. We usually get a 1lb of shrimp per person. Along with some sides it's usually too much food for us. We've tried other seafood boil places, like Sono Boil in Norwalk, and Mr. Crab is our favorite. It's a huge plus that they have a parking lot and despite always coming in on weekends we've never had an issue getting a spot. Very COVID safe - waiters wear masks (properly) and the tables with benches are spread out well so there's no concern of people being too close. read more

What a pleasant surprise. We were really in the mood for seafood and this place delivers on all levels. The restaurant has 2 major dining areas, the area under the windows were too hot for us so we chose to move to the area which was a bit darker but had picnic tables set up. It was more comfortable and definitely much cooler. We ordered the lobster bisque and the New England Clam Chowder. They were both delicious, nice and thick how I like it, full of lobster and oysters. For our entrees I had the fisherman's platter and my girlfriend had the seafood boil with clams. The platter was just out of this world. The portion was huge with shrimp, calamari, clam strips and white fish. It was full of flavor and perfectly fried. I'm stuck and order only one thing most of the time from this restaurant and it's The Peel and eat Cajun shrimp!!! I usually get THREE orders and that is all I need and am totally satisfied. I make jasmine rice at home to eat with it and becomes our dinner. Shrimp is crispy, sweet and full of flavor. Fried calamari, fish, clam strips and fried shrimp are also good. Great food! We have come twice and enjoyed the seafood boil each time however service is not the best. Last night they forgot to bring our soup, the waitress never checked on us, and when we got the check we waited 10 minutes before just going up to the bar to ask to pay. Also- they ADD THE TIP TO YOUR BILL! I understand when restaurants do that for a party of 6 or more but it was just two of us and I did not see it posted anywhere.
