Super fresh and oh so tender and moist. Perfectly fried on the outside and juicy inside. I also ordered the onion rings, nothing super special there but at least they the actual onion. When I first opened it up, I didnt expect much because it looks pretty unassuming. If im honest i didnt love the plain fried chicken. The seasoning on it just wasnt my jam but my parents enjoyed! To be honest it might just be because i was explaining a plain/just salted skin. It wasnt bad or anything, just not my jam :/. It was still good though! Fried well where it had cronchy skin but juicy tender meat. I much preferred the red spicy sauce but be warned it IS spicy (think like yupdduk spice level? Dark ambience is my jam for late night munchies. My friend and I walked in around 8pm on a weekday and it wasn't super busy. I always enjoy having something to watch when I'm eating and they had the sports channel on one screen and K-pop videos on the other. My friend and I wanted to catch up over dinner and decided on 16 soy garlic wings and a rice cake and sausage skewer. The food came out fairly quick and looked mouthwatering. We tried the rice cake sausage skewer first and was caught off guard a little by the flavor. Wasn't bad but just not what we expected. Rice cake was slightly crispy on the outside and chewy to our liking. The sausage was closer tasting to a regular hot dog. We would probably just get the rice cakes next time. The soy garlic wings were YUM! We love garlic so they definitely didn't skimp out on the flavoring. Wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They gave an even amount of drums and flats for the 16 piece which was a win win for us because I prefer flats and my friend prefer drums. It was great service, clean, and attentive. I have a consistent joint that I go to when it comes to Korean Chicken...so as not to be monotonous I searched on Yelp for an optional spot and I found this wonderful, modest, trustworthy, decent, neat place which in my opinion is deserving to be revisited. After we were seated, we browsed the menu list and decided to have their soy garlic wings and spicy red (half and half), chicken Caesar salad and fries, I matched it initially with a mug of allagash white and then later on with a Guinness. Their prices are reasonable. I did not have to wait long till our orders were served. "Chicken Caesar salad" - considerable amount of chicken as compared to other places that I have tried (a plus), a nice balance of Caesar's dressing and Parmesan cheese, the whole salad was of significant amount. "spicy red wings" - pleasantly surprising, wings are just a little bit bigger than what other Korean places are offering, spicier (another plus) than other joints or I may say "right on the spot", (I have a high tolerance for spicy foods). "French fries" - crispy on the outside and soft inside. "Beer" - served at just the right coldness and temperature. "Trustworthy" - after I paid the bill, I mistakenly forgot my credit card on their table, called them the next day, I had to confirm with them my name while I was on the phone and while I was picking up my credit card. We took my daughter her for an afternoon snack. This is our first time coming here and don't recall ever seeing this place which is 2 - 3 store fronts down from Gyro World. We ordered the whole chicken w/ soy garlic sauce on the side and some crispy french fries. The fries came out first and were nice and hot and very crispy not like the fries you get from some fast food places and 100Xs better than fries from Gyro World. Don't get me wrong I love GW 's giant horiatiki salad w/ grill chicken, the beef and lamb gyro and bifteki platters and spinach pies. But let's be honest their french fries are weak and are not hot nor crispy. Once our chicken came out everyone stopped talking and grabbed chicken wings, drumsticks and thighs and went to town. Mr Dak is a new Korean fried chicken spot that opened up on Northern Blvd and with the variety of sauces and options, it definitely sets itself apart from other fried chicken spots. The quality of the food is great and the service was exceptional too. When I dined in, I tried the three flavor special, which is boneless fried chicken that comes in 3 sauces. This is the option I'd recommend if you're dining in with other people, as there are plenty of chicken to go around and you have to try all of the sauces! I tried both option 2, which was the Korean style seasoning, onion & sauce, and honey sauce as well as option 3 where the Korean and honey sauces are replaced by the Spicy Red and Soy Garlic. Not sure if I have a favorite amongst the two, but the onion & sauce is definitely worth trying and the creaminess of the sauce helps balance the spice of the Spicy Red, which wasn't that spicy honestly. If you like sweet, the honey sauce is the pick and if you prefer something more savory, then you would want the soy garlic. No matter which option you get, you get a lot of chicken and though I thought getting 2 of the sets for 4 people wouldn't be enough, we were definitely full by the end of it. The chicken here is saucy and crispy on the outside while tender and juicy on the inside. It's everything you want with Korean fried chicken as it's not dry nor tough to eat, which is a big no-no with fried chicken. The different sauces keep changing the flavor profile, so you don't get sick of what you're eating either. I also tried the Katsu set, which comes with rice, sauce, salad, radish, and soup. The katsu was crispy on the outside while still juicy on the inside and the Worcestershire sauce was tangy, yet savory, which was perfect for the katsu. Additionally, I recalled the server underselling the soup, which was pretty good honestly! I also tried the onion rings, which were really good too, as they were crispy and definitely fresh out of the fryer, as they were hot and still juicy on the inside. By the way, I have to comment on the service, which was exceptional. The server was very hospitable and made sure that we had everything we needed. If things got a bit slow in the kitchen, he would not hesitate to let us know and he even offered to change what was showing on the TV as well. With service like that, I definitely would come back to dine in again. I have also ordered takeout before and I've gotten Mr. Dak's Chicken Burger. The neat thing about Mr Dak is that you can get either chicken thigh or breast, so whether you like white or dark meat, you get to take your pick! The burger comes with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles and Mr. Dak's Chicken Burger has a spicy and sweet sauce drizzled all over it, which reminded me of yangnyeom sauce (I believe it is the Korean style seasoning on the menu). The chicken thigh is super crispy on the outside and yet still juicy on the inside, which was perfect, even when I had to wait 15 minutes or so before eating, as I thought it was going to get soggy before I could dig in. The vegetables provide a nice crunch and balance out the fried chicken while the bun was still nice and toasty. Overall, it was a really good chicken burger. Add some fries and you get a lot for one meal. Mr Dak is a great addition to the neighborhood. Though there may be Korean fried chicken spots all over Northern Blvd, this one here has great service and fried chicken along with a variety of sauces for everyone. The person who served me was really friendly and welcoming. Since I was alone and eating lunch, I didn't want to eat or spend a ton. I was tempted to try their other dishes, but I settled on getting an 8-piece chicken wings ($11.95) and french fries ($4.95). The fries came out first, and they were really good and crispy. The chicken came out next, and that was really good too. The wings were really crispy - I was worried that the sound would be really loud in the quiet restaurant - and the juices were still contained within the chicken. Definitely be careful when eating since the juices are still very hot! All in all, I was really satisfied with the meal because both the fries and the wings were crispy and tasty. The only thing I would change would be getting their hot sauce instead of the soy garlic because, while the soy garlic sauce was good, after a while the taste of the fries and wings kind of blended. I think picking a spicier sauce would be a better choice. Great first experience, and I'm looking forward to trying this place again! Been patiently waiting for this place to open for months now! And finally visited here last Friday night. Once we walked in, we were greeted by a nice worker who I believe is the son of the owner. It seems like a family owned business in which we all love :). The menu is very straightforward with the first main page being chicken, the only place I really care for hehe :)! At first, I thought we will take some home but nope we finished it all. The sauce was really good - it was sweet and tangy. The worker gave us a sample of the spicy sauce and it was my personal fav. It isn't too spicy but had enough kick. My bf doesn't like spicy so he preferred what we ordered. Personally, I like the sauce on my chicken so next time we will do half and half.
