Tonight MY husband and I and our 4 year old went to eat at the Kenner location. The server was friendly enough, but the food was awful. It cost us 71$ and some change with out the tip. My lettuce in my salad was warm and wilted. The oysters were soggy and we left very unsatisfied. I think that will be our last trip to Mr. Eds. Both locations have proven to us they are no where near worth the money spent. We did tip our server 20$ because it is not a servers fault when the kitchen can not get the food right. read more

Mr. Ed's in Kenner, Louisiana has a nice, yet simple exterior, and a clean, neat, and attractive interior. The wait staff are professional and friendly. My friends shared a Super Seafood Platter ($21.95), which came with salad, fries, oysters, shrimp, catfish, stuffed crab, and toast. I had the 1/2 & 1/2 Catfish & Shrimp Dinner ($16.95). We were pleased that the portions were generous and the batter not greasy, but we thought the batter was rather bland and could have been better spiced. We scored it a "C+/B-". I came with my girlfriend knowing nothing about the restaurant. I ordered the chicken Parmesan with a side of a cup of gumbo, the chicken was crispy and perfectly fried and breaded; The chicken also just fell apart I didn't even need a knife. The gumbo was perfectly seasoned. It had a slight acidic taste which was a nice touch IMO. If you like lighter roux then the gumbo is for you. My girlfriend got a soft shell crab fried whole and a plate of white beans, both were perfectly cooked. I would 100% recommended this to anyone who asked. Definitely going again. read more

My family and I went to Mr. Ed's for a birthday dinner. The experience was terrible. My grandfather ordered the pork chops and they were chewy and not edible. When we told the waitress, she was very kind about changing his order. The manager, on the other hand, was rude. She did not apologize and had a very bitchy attitude towards my grandfather, who was already embarrassed about the situation. My boyfriend and I had dinner here tonight for the first time and everything was perfect. The weather was nice so we opted to dine outside not much of a view, but it was still nice. James was our server and he convinced us to get the seafood nachos as an appetizer which were fully loaded with tons of shrimp, crawfish, and crab!!! As my main entree I got the Ribeye cooked medium and it was so juicy and full of flavor!! I was offered toppings for the steak and I'm so happy I decided to not get it because it would have altered the flavor and it didn't need it! We will definitely be going back very soon! I am always in this area and just decided to finally try out this location of Mr. Ed's for the first time last month. I will say that I prefer this location to the original one near Buck Town. I find everything a lot nicer, newer, and much less cramped. The food is pretty traditional.. everything from salads, sandwiches, veal parm, eggplant dishes, and other pasta dishes. The service was really good.. the wait staff definitely are in sync with customers.. everything comes out timely and they do go over quite a lot of available specials. Overall, the food is tasty. It isn't fine dining, but it is a nice solid establishment to go to and the food is consistently good because we went back again the week after my first visit. They do have a nice selection of cocktails from the bar too that were quite good. as well. read more

My boss took us here for lunch today. Nice atmosphere, soft jazz playing in the background. Roomy and spread out nicely. Seeing the sign advertising the fried chicken (and hearing raves about it), my boss and I decided to order it along with the potato salad. We started with an appetizer--ask for the Crawfish Spinach Artichoke dip. Not on the menu for some reason but OMG! sooo good! Creamy, with big chunks of artichokes and crawfish tails, accompanied by seasoned french bread. Delicious! I had the in-house made blue cheese dressing with my salad and it also was very good. However, I was disappointed with the fried chicken. I know it's difficult to do a fried chicken that is tasty, juicy and seasoned through out, so I can sympathize....but I just don't think it's all that great. The texture WAS great, I have to say--crispy and fresh, and not a hint of grease. But the actual taste of the chicken was bland and the breast was dry. It was a letdown :( . I wasn't thrilled with the potato salad either. It was more like a mashed potato consistency that while tasty, wasn't firm enough for my personal tastes. On a high note, my other companions raved about their plates--one had the grilled red snapper that smelled delicious (she said it was) and I tried her peas and mushrooms, and they were great. Being new to the area, my wife and I relocated from Knoxville, we have been trying all the restaurants in Kenner. This may be our favorite. Crab Cake appetizer was wonderful. Decided on Applebee's, was seated and proceeded to wait over 15 minutes for a server to no avail, despite the fact that the place was not even half-full. So we left. Chanced upon Mr. Ed's while driving and decided to pull in. I must say, Kenner is lucky to have this gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere was comfortable, inviting and the place was bustling with a good mix of clientele. Despite the busy lunch hour, service was quick, efficient and friendly. Food was wonderful. Nothing fancy, just good ole Southern comfort fare. LOVE the fried chicken. When in Kenner, this place would be THE place to go for a satisfying meal. Prices were pretty reasonable too. I read that they had the best fried chicken in the New Orleans metro area so I had been dying to try. We ordered the gumbo as an appetizer. It was edible. Nothing I'd ever want again. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with fries. The fried chicken was awful. Greasy was an understatement. Also, it didn't have any flavor. I was shocked at how bad it was. My husband had their shrimp and catfish plate with fries. All I can saw is EW! The catfish wasn't fresh. It tasted like iodine. As if it were old and frozen. The shrimp tasted the same. On the plus size the fries and iced tea weren't awful. This place is beyond overrated and way over priced! read more

Perfect dinner out in NOLA! Our waiter Donald suggested the chargrilled oysters in addition to the dozen raw oysters we ordered and the special was blackened redfish with bbq shrimp and some kind of rich, amazing sauce straight from heaven! We will definitely be back!!!!! read more

I was brought out to this restaurant on a date and by a recommendation of a friend. As far as location goes, it is close to Esplanade Mall which is convenient. As we walked it, I enjoyed the decor. The bar was open and close to the entrance, everything was clean, and the staff was well mannered. As far as the food is concerned, I was not too impressed. I had the Shepherds pie. The pie crust was excellent; baked to a nice crisp. However the meat filling,under seasoned ground beef, was disappointing. If the food was better I would have gladly given it four, maybe even five stars. I am willing, however, to give this place a second chance in the future. It definitely has potential. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to take a chance on this place after being unable to find a parking spot at Zea's. My boyfriend and I both had margaritas and they were both mixed differently. Mine had a strange chemical taste to it. I couldn't finish it. Don't go here for the margaritas. We had the spinach, crawfish and artichoke dip, which was mediocre at best. It was served with crispy bread rounds that were so delicate, they were basically croutons. Not a fan. I did enjoy my house salad and my main dish, which was the stuffed catfish with vegetables and potatoes. Everything was well seasoned and the portion size was huge. My boyfriend had the chicken parmesan poboy and he absolutely loved it. The waitstaff were wonderful. There are better options in the NOLA area, but if you're in Kenner, this one isn't too bad. read more

Well I finally have to scratch this restaurant but not because of food. Like to eat 8:30 - 9 ish. Have been putting up with indifferent service for years going there a couple of times per month. They have on the door open till on Fri & Sat. Got there 8:45 pm & host says we try to stay open till 10:00pm. Problem is they go into closing mode 8:30-8:45, sweeping, spraying bleach all over the place not a pleasant environment for eating especially if you have a sensitive nose. So, why don t you just say we close at8:30pm. For that reason I am out . Last Sat my wife & I were seated by the bar & were overwhelmed with bleach smell so we just got up and left. The bar tender sarcastically says thanks for your business. Really! So, I am going to take my $800 - $ $1000 / year business somewhere else! I guess that is why only 1 couple was in the place @ 8:45 on a Sat night. So sad because it could be a good restaurant but I guess their owner or mgr wants them off the clock by 9-9:30 PM & doesn't really care! My group of 6 eats lunch out almost every day of the week (today we were 5), and we were enthusiastic about giving Mr. Ed's a try and possibly adding it to our regular lineup. We will NEVER go there again. The manager (Jessie) is possibly the worst I've encountered in any restaurant. The server was very nice. The manager brought the food to the table, and the first thing we noticed was that she was VERY unfriendly and abrupt. Included in the order was a meatball poboy and a veal parmesan poboy. Both sandwiches came completely dry (not even enough tomato sauce to color the bread), so I asked the manager if I could have a small amount of sauce just to moisten it. She brought out a tiny dish with about 2 oz. of sauce (which was fine). Afterward we were charged $1.50 extra for this (after paying about $12 and $13 for the sandwiches). I explained to the waitress that the sandwich was served completely dry, so I didn't understand the extra charge. She told me that the manager had instructed her to add it to the bill. I told her that I'd pay it if the manager insisted, but that I'd never return again if that was their policy. She mentioned this to Jessie (the manager), and the charge remained on the bill. So for a $1.50 charge THIS MANAGER CHOSE TO LOSE 5 CUSTOMERS for good. Meatball and veal parmesan sandwiches are supposed to come with at least some tomato sauce on them, the same way a salad comes with dressing or the same way a BBQ sandwich has BBQ sauce. If the kitchen neglects to put dressing on a salad, am I supposed to pay extra to get it?? Two poboys and two soft drinks came close to $40 with the tip, and the sandwiches were fairly sparse. To add to the "experience" it took at least 15 minutes to provide a table for 5, even though it was not crowded. Although there were many other tables in a nicer part of the restaurant, they chose to seat us right next to the door and the rear of the hostess podium (ILLOGICAL if you care AT ALL about someone's dining experience). Then after ordering soft drinks, it took an additional 15 minutes to receive them. The room temperature was extremely cold (we were actually zipping up our jackets), and the music was loud and very noisy. I frequently encounter cold restaurants and sometimes noisy music, but I have NEVER seen a poorer decision than this particular manager made. She knew we were not going to return if she insisted on charging extra for 2 oz. of sauce, and yet that's EXACTLY WHAT SHE CHOSE TO DO. It's the principle for me... Mr. Ed's is a seafood restaurant with excellent food and a comforting atmosphere. On September 27, 2016 my family and I decided to meet at Mr. Ed to celebrate my memes 74th birthday. As we park and get out our vehicles, I notice how neat and tidy the parking lot was. They had a ramp leading to the door which was very convenient for my Meme because she uses a walker and is prone to falls. As I entered the restaurant the aroma of food met me at the door. We were greeted by wonderful staff which were helpful in accommodating our party of eight. After being seated, we were introduced by a very professional and friendly waiter. Our waiter gave us outstanding service and treated my Meme as if it were his own grandmother. We began our dinner experience by ordering a crawfish dip and a mouth watering, to die for turtle soup. We then ordered our entrée, I had crab cakes over a delicious pasta. My nanny had a pecan crusted trout, that I just had to taste. My sister had a seafood platter that was a super big portion for an exceptional price. read more

Do not waste your time or money. The menu sounds great, but after giving this place multiple chances to get it right...epic fail. I have been quite a few times and every time I always find a hair in my food. Not to mention, the food lacks flavor. The service was horrible. The staff is more concerned with entertaining each other than tending to the customers. This place needs a complete do-over! read more
