I selected a Deli Veggie Sandwich on my selection of marble rye bread and pepper jack cheese. That was $10.99 which these days isn't that bad for a sandwich. At the last minute before checking out I added the macaroni salad. For $3.69 it was tasty enough but a bit overpriced when you can get much more for slightly more in price at a nearby supermarket, if you want to make an additional stop. There's a small parking lot in back, which is convenient. The place is kinda cute on the outside as it looks like a small, simple shack. Inside the place is rather dark and dismal so I wouldn't eat there. There's a small outdoor eating area as well, and although rather exposed to the elements it might be a better choice than indoors if you plan on eating there. The staff were efficient enough, and more matter of fact than friendly in their greeting. It was pointed out to me to get the macaroni salad out of the self-service refrigerator. Now I know the drill in picking up a take out order. The sandwich itself was quite good. All of the ingredients were fresh and crisp. It was nicely prepared and the bread was also fresh and delicious. I was pleased with the size and tastiness. They have sandwich size options too. I'd go back when a sandwich craving hits. Arriving for a 1pm lunch there was plenty of parking but the restaurant was empty. It was rather depressing compared to the vibrance of the other fast food hamburger joints nearby. It didn't seem obvious but you can order either at the counter or a kiosk. I chose the kiosk and all went smoothly. I simply got the Charbroil meal with cheese (an extra $1.10) which comes with a standard burger, fries and a drink. There's some outdoor seating but I settled into an indoor table. Staff was great and very kind. The minute I put in my order a server brought me a cup for a drink at the fountain. They have the usual sodas plus a couple of side things, including two types of tea. I chose one tea, not the black tea, and it was blander than bland. Totally tasteless, as if watered down. A server kindly brought the tray of food to my table, which was very kind, and I doubt routine. Yet, it wasn't busy either. The burger was just OK. Not overly large, it was satisfying enough, but in no way a standout. I've had far better elsewhere. I hoped the charbroil would be tastier and add flavor. It didn't. The fries were also just OK. A bit smaller amount than other comparable places, again the consistency, texure and flavor was rather disappointing. I dipped them heavily in ketchup. They have some nice extras at the self-serve counter, like a variety of peppers and even Tabasco, so that's a plus. I left feeling somewhat underwhelmed, especially for over $15., more than I'd pay at other burger joints. The place is very clean and organized which is a plus. I hate saying this, but I hope it survives, yet I'm doubtful. Location, price point, lack of a standout uniquely different meal, and nearby competition! It's not good. I feel most for the service workers and employees who need the work. It's not their fault the business model doesn't work. Oh well, I do hope it survives, but improves. No more Habit Burger for me. Three times, it's out.
