Turkey sandwich with avocado and cucumber
    Sherry G.

Everything here always is so fresh! I love to get a turkey sandwich with avocado and cucumber. I love their bread and how they are generous with their toppings. I called my order in and the gentleman was very nice and upon arrival both a male and female greeted me super nice. Sandwich was delicious with great presentation! Great go to for lunch or even dinner. They also have an outdoor patio with seating.

As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the order counter, where the staff will greet you, and you place your order.

Sourdough and Company is a chain of around the size of 40-something sandwich shops located in central California and the Bay Area. The restaurants are known for their freshly baked in-house sourdough bread, their soup of the day, along with their wide array of sandwiches. The Rocklin location just happened to be my latest Sourdough and Company into the sourdough experience and Gold Country Dining. As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the order counter, where the staff will greet you, and you place your order. The dining room is sparsely and casually seated. The restaurant operates on what I call the "taqueria" format, in that you make your selection from the overhead menu, you pay for your order and in return, you'll receive a "number." You take your "number" and seat at the table of your choice, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you, and your "number" will be picked up and recycled. From the "Specialty Sandwiches" section of the menu, I went with "Smoked Brisket," along with a bowl of chili and slices of sourdough bread on the side. Such an amazing lunch! Six-inch sourdough sandwich along with a 12-oz bowl of chili made for a very satisfying lunch in every way. My delicious lunch was based on the delicious in-house-baked sourdough bread the restaurant is famous for, and branched out from there. So... talk about a sourdough bun... freshly baked from the kitchen. Crunchy on the outside, yet tender, sweet and a little bit sour on the inside. Now you're talking about a perfect sourdough roll, the kind that are baked fresh at Sourdough and Company in Rocklin.\ Add to the fresh, delicious sourdough bread slices of smoked beef brisket. Then... barbecue sauce, coleslaw along with what the restaurant calls "house spread," tomato, Cheddar cheese and onion. Now... you're talking about a sandwich! Did I mention barbecue sauce? The coleslaw clinched the deal, and made the sandwich, as it added a creamy, tangy and delicious angle to this amazing meal. The coleslaw was the "deal breaker..." as it simply elevated the sandwich to amazing heights. Oh my... as one bite into the sandwich was simply ... how can I describe it? ... You combine the crunchy sourdough bread with the smoked brisket, tomato, cole slaw and "house spread" to make for a sandwich that is stand alone delicious for Placer County and the greater Sacramento area. You want a sandwich? Check out Sourdough and Company in Rocklin! How could we ever forget the chili... Lots of chili beans, ground beef, savory broth and simply... delicious! All twelve ounces of it was amazing. Freshly baked sourdough bread worked wonders with the broth. Chili and a sandwich at Sourdough and Company... how can life get better? Sourdough and Company bakes some of the most amazing sourdough bread in the area. Simply delicious! Come for the food, enjoy the friendly service, but stay for the amazing sourdough bread.

The food is so fresh and delicious And I like the service the price a bit high We try the garlic turkey sandwich

i came here during lunch on a tuesday afternoon & there wasn't a line. the staff is very friendly & are open to answering any questions. i ordered the pesto turkey w/o tomatoes and it was so good!! i sat down and ate inside & they have so many tables and also tables outside. i definitely recommend this place.

I am so disappointed. I was looking forward to a good sandwich today. If the young lady making my sandwich wasn't so polite and nice this would be a 1 star. I ordered the #8-Pastrami and Turkey. The picture says it all. 1 piece of pastrami, common on. 1 1/2 pieces of turkey? A slice of tomato per half a sandwich. You only get tomato when you eat the middle. Definitely not worth the $9.53. I won't be back.

    Gluten free wrap

It is nice that they now have a gluten free option but not sure it is worth it. They were very slim on the meat and fillings and the wrap is large so I felt like I was just eating a tortilla. You already have to pay extra for the GF wrap I wish it was filled with more meat and produce. The good thing is their food is always fresh just not sure the gluten free is worth it.

Usually a great experience and great sandwich. But, is this the new standard for Sourdough and Co for meat? 1 slice?! Disappointed and still hungry. I will likely be switching sandwich shops...

Disappointing Experience Due to Food Safety Concern…read more I visited this restaurant on Wednesday for lunch. This was actually my second time dining here. My first visit was pleasant, which is why I decided to come back. This time, I ordered what I believe was the tri-tip steak wrap. As I was finishing the first half of my wrap, I noticed a dead fly in my food. Needless to say, I was shocked and immediately lost my appetite. I walked to the front and asked to speak with a manager. The cashier who helped me was very friendly and professional. I explained the situation to her, and she relayed it to the manager. While I do appreciate that they refunded my meal, what disappointed me most was the manager's response. He never came over to speak with me, apologize, or acknowledge the situation directly. From where I was standing, he appeared visibly disturbed when informed, but he simply instructed the cashier to issue a refund and never addressed me as the customer. I understand that mistakes happen and that it was a busy lunch rush. However, finding a fly in a meal is a serious food safety issue, and I believe a manager or owner should take a moment to personally speak with the customer, show concern, and offer an apology. A little empathy would have gone a long way. The refund was appreciated, but the lack of acknowledgment and customer care left a much stronger impression than the refund itself. Unfortunately, after this experience, I'm hesitant to return.

I first called the Roseville location. The gal who answered was very sweet, but she couldn't answer catering questions and let me know she'd need to check with the kitchen. Rather than play phone tag, I decided to swing by in person (the following day) to see if I could make a stronger connection. The gal working was just as kind face-to-face as the first girl I spoke with on the phone, she also did her best to answer what she could, and ultimately recommended I get in touch with Kat, who handles catering. When I finally connected with Kat, I felt more at ease about going with this restaurant. She was absolutely fantastic and should probably have a PhD in reassurance. She patiently walked me through the options, answered everything with confidence, and made me feel completely comfortable placing a fairly sizable catering order over the phone for pickup at the Rocklin location. Five stars for Kat. She is exactly the kind of person you hope to work with when planning an event. On pickup day, I arrived about 15-20 minutes early. Some restaurants build in a little buffer and have orders sitting around before the promised pickup time, but not these folks. My order was ready exactly when they said it would be, and honestly, I prefer that. It meant everything was as fresh as possible rather than sitting under a warmer waiting for me. We chose the #2 catering package. Of the options we chose: a large Greek salad, two skewers of meat per person, pita bread, dip, lemon potatoes, and pilaf rice. The presentation was beautiful, everything was thoughtfully packaged, and, the food was very good. If you're deciding between the proteins, I'd give a slight edge to the steak skewers. They stayed tender, while the chicken, was a bit drier by comparison. If you're looking for catering that's both visually impressive and well received, The Great Greek delivers on both fronts. Whether you're feeding family, coworkers, or guests at a special event, this is the kind of spread that earns compliments before people even take their first bite. Four and a half shining stars!

The line was long when we came in, but moved quickly. The bigger problem is that there aren't nearly enough tables for how many folks were dining in. We did end up finding a table on their patio- which is always a win for our family. For about $70, we got two kids' meals (one slider and one chicken tenders), a shareables order of the tri-tip tacos (that my wife ate as her entree), and a two-protein platter with the pulled pork and tri-tip. They asked how we wanted our tri-tip cooked, and we answered medium, but all of the tri-tip came out well done. The flavors of everything were good, though, and the portions are substantial. The kids' meals are a great value. The two-protein platter was enough for two meals if you wanted it to be. The tacos were filled generously and were very tasty. I enjoyed the coleslaw- though I read some others find it bland. I did not think that at all. I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available at Buckhorn. They have a pump-your-own-sauce station with several types of BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, ketchup, and spicy ranch. Yum! My favorite was the mustard-based BBQ sauce. Overall, I would totally return to Buckhorn. I could probably lean 4 stars here, but I think it's a better spot for BBQ than many others in my area and in the Roseville area that I've tried. It's certainly made my Roseville area visit list.

We tried this spot out for the first time this morning after driving by it for years. The Owner's Yelp business description states they "specialize in breakfast", which sounded awesome. Reviews and photos looked so promising. Our experience was nothing like what others have shared though :( The space is nice and spacious, with an old school vibe which we liked, and we were so hopeful upon entering for the first time. Service was polite enough...but felt insincere and disinterested in taking good care of the customer. The one employee who I felt actually cared was the hostess, but the waitstaff seem to just be going through the motions. We shared it was our first time coming and we were excited to treat ourselves to a rare breakfast out. We needed a few extra minutes to study the menu since it was our first visit, but then we got forgotten about. I attempted to catch the waitresses attention numerous times with no success. After waiting about ten minutes longer than was reasonable, I did seek out the hostess's help in tracking down someone who could take our order. She was super apologetic, but of course it wasn't her job as she was busy seating people and handling her own tasks. The biggest disappointment was the food - in looking back at the photos the French toast we ordered looked nothing like the photos - first, when I asked what the difference between the 1/2 and full order was we were told it was 4 slices vs. 6 slices. That definitely seemed to justify the price so we ordered a half order for my young boy and I to share. What came out was shockingly different - it was two tiny slices of bread that looked like the inexpensive sliced grocery store bread. Because it was already small thinly sliced bread before being cooked, it was truly tiny once plated. We were honestly surprised they felt comfortable serving it. Maybe they ran out of their thick large French toast bread? No matter, they certainly shouldn't have served what we received though. It was confusing and embarrassing, IMO. So, we were misinformed that it was a 4 slice portion when it was 2 small thin slices of bread cut in half...that is not 4 slices of French toast. And then the waitress didn't come around our entire meal so I couldn't inquire about it until we were done. I ended up giving the French toast to my boy who ate it all in under 120 seconds, no joke (because there wasn't much to eat) and then he said he was still hungry. I, too, was quite hungry. Other family members agreed that the taste was good, but nothing special, and the servings did not match the high prices. So, the food was tasty enough but the portions were unreasonably small and do not justify the price, the service lacks greatly, and the misinformation was truly disappointing and misleading. When I did politely ask at the end about why she said it was 4 slices vs. 6 slices the waitress backpedaled stating she meant it was 4 halves vs. 6 halves...and then she apologized that we were leaving hungry and offered me a biscuit. ??? Why would I want a biscuit? I just wanted the meal the waitress told me I was ordering. I wanted what some previous customers have shared in their photos here. The French toast in the photos here on Yelp looks legit and exactly what we wanted and expected...again, so odd the kitchen staff felt comfortable plating up the order we received. Zero quality control there. Honestly, it was just a weird and disappointing experience that had us leaving hungry and unsatisfied, so we went home and prepared a meal there. We are super chill people with realistic expectations, so for us to struggle with this first experience says a lot about how subpar it was. The price of a soft drink is unreasonable as well ($5) - which isn't a huge deal, but with the disappointing food it was just the icing on the cake. A large cup is served but it's completely filled with ice. When asked if we wanted a refill she brought a small cup over with 85% ice and some soda, using that small cup to refill the large cup...splashing soda all over the table and then having to use her dirty damp rag shoved in her apron pocket to clean it up around our food plates, which was definitely unsanitary and made us cringe. There were customers there though - not sure if they were first-timers like us due to the new Farmers Market, but maybe they do have a repeat clientele so none of this matters to them because they can keep their doors open without new customers like us. Sad to try a local business we were excited about and then have this disappointing experience. We envisioned making trips to the new Farmers Market across the street often and then enjoying a wonderful breakfast afterwards, as a nice new Saturday morning tradition. Sadly we will not be returning to this restaurant.
