I love eating the food at Mr Pollo, it's always fresh, the chicken is so much better than the rotisserie fowl at Sam's or Walmart or most places in town, because they use those gross GMO triathlete yard bird pretenders, not so at Mr Pollo, these birds were raised in the sun eating pico de gallo and sipping on margaritas because they melt in your mouth, no strange textures like GMO chicken either, the charcoal they smoke it in gives the chicken a very good flavor, and combined with the black beans and rice, pico, plantano, even the homemade sauces and flan are very very good. the usually have passion fruit juice, or mango or another excellent caribbean juice choice available, and the prices are fair especially for the quality and portions, highly recommended. read more

I listened to the hype and am so glad! Ordering online is a breeze so give that a try. When I went to pick up I had one foot in the door and they were greeting me by name?! Wow. My food was super hot, fresh, and ready to go with no wait. We ordered the full chicken, mac and cheese, rice and beans, and every sauce they had. AMAZING!!! Meh. I expected a lot. Chicken is decent but not better than Publix or chicken I make at home. Got the combo for 2 with 2 "large" sides. If those are large, and meant for two people, I hate to see what a regular side is. Jello cup size? Beans are very good, but should come with the onions on them, not in a teeny side cup. Mac is ok. Very salty. Sauces are really the reason I ranked them so high, and even then you don't get enough. And they charge for a teaspoon size cup extra. I won't go out of my way to go back. read more

I was craving food from my favorite Peruvian chicken restaurant which is all the way up in Maryland, so we decided to give this place a try and it was DELICIOUS. There was no line on a weekday at dinner time and we were able to get seats immediately. The chicken was perfect, and so were the sides. This place is excellent. It is far from boring chicken. We are big fans of the sauces and marinated onions, they pair perfectly well with the chicken. Had been waiting to try Mr Pollo. Impressions - modest entry, dirty floors, no one cleaning tables except patrons with napkins, loud. Perhaps not their fault, as this is one part of a three part building, but the outside of the three was also filthy, rundown, old crates laying around, trucks with flat tires, branches from trees and leftover refuse, etc. What I would describe as way low rent. The lack of cleaning going on, given the diners leaving was troublesome - even McDonalds does better. Food - I think we chose poorly - chicken rice bowl and tostones. Chicken rice bowl was very wet with too much broth from the black beans. Chicken shredded on top was mush and icky. Plantain side was good. Tostone was another with mushy blended chicken on top of plantains. Plantains plane would have been OK - the stuff on top - even with the "mayonnaise ketchup" sauce? I would recommend anyone trying this place - go with the chicken and sides - do not get salads, or bowls or tostones. read more

The chicken is amazing; flavorful,juicy. The mac n cheese is best I've tasted since moving here. Green sauce...spicy! Brownie tastes just like Little Debbie brownies; not worth $3.50, go buy a full box for $2. Mashed potatoes have something added in them like sour cream; I didn't care for them but that's a preference. Black beans, just black beans! Fries, just fries! Loved the very creamy cole slaw. Just went yesterday for the first time after being recommended by someone at Ulta. The menu isn't very big and they serve only chicken as a meat but don't let that steer you away because their food is AMAZING! We got the combo for 2 which comes with a FULL chicken (yes full) and 2 large sides which was only $17!! It was delicious and the owner was SO NICE! He came to our table to make sure we were doing good and to ask how our meal was. We will definitely be back to try something new! read more

It was soooooo good. The chicken was tender and juicy. Even the breast was juicy and not the least bit dry. The rice and black beans were on point and I'm pretty critical of rice and beans coming from an island background and tasted many different kinds. Had the half chicken, black beans and rice, and Pico de Gallo. The platter came with 2 sauces and chopped onions was it? Not sure but they were all delicious. I put the dark Green sauce( has some heat so pay attention) on the black beans and rice and it was great. The pico was spot on and wonderful, I could probably fill up on this alone. The chicken was outstanding, moist, flavorful, tasty and darn near falling off the bone. The skin was crispy and tasty. The parking is tight, the place is clean, welcoming and had nice music playing. The staff is friendly and genuine. For under $10, I had myself a truly unique, and incredible meal and I plan on return trips. Ate here this afternoon with my wife. I got there early so I "snuck" and had an order of yucca and the Aguadito soup! Oh my I was in heaven and instantly transported back to South America. The owners are actually from Venezuela. (Wished they offered their country's food as well) The chicken was so moist and tender with a good crispy skin. It tastes just like the "pollo al carbon" that is everywhere in Central and South America. We had the plantains and French fries as our sides with the combo for two. Great value for the price!!
