This is one of my favorite local restaurants in the area! This is single handedly the BEST hummus I have ever had!!! I thought maybe the first time was just a "lucky day," but every single time we get the hummus it is 10/10! If you have any leftover hummus at the end of your dinner, get a to go box and dip your veggies in it at home! You will be disappointed!!!! I've tried the mixed shawarma plate and then gyro entree. I always add a side of tazeki when I order a platter like this because I like to dip the grape leaf rolls, falafel, etc. BUT this already came with a delicious side of creamy tahini, the smoothest hummus and smoky babaganoush. Strange place. I didn't actually see the name "Yaffa" on the exterior. I just saw a Shawarma grill but it's definitely the same place. So let me stay right off that if ambience is super important to you, this place will not have it. There's no other way to say it but it's a bit rough on the edges. Part of the restaurant has a bare-bones sort of vibe to it. However, its clean. they have a few booths and tables We went on a cool day, and for some reason the restaurant was freezing cold. We decided to try the buffet for no particular reason, other than to try different dishes. Selection of dishes was on the small side, but they had the most important dishes. We liked all the dishes. I found the Arab salad particularly tasty. Since we did, the buffet service really wasn't part of the equation, but we were greeted nicely served our drinks quickly. read more

I saw the menu online. Drove 20-30 minutes out of my way in the rain only to find out they had taken all of the items I had planned to order off the menu. Then there was the funky smell. This place was fairly empty when we showed up, however we were greeted and advised we could sit anywhere we would like. They were not busy but it was after 2. The young lady who waited on us was very good and attentive. She explained many of the items on the menu to my daughter. We decided on a mixed grill Shawarma which was pretty amazing. The meat and the chicken were both tender and seasoned wonderfully. The hummus had a nice flavor with a little bit of the cake with the peppers in the pita provided was nice and thick not just a floppy pita out of the bag. My daughter also ordered a gyro which the lamb was OK but the beef Shawarma was much better. Next time I think she'll go with the Shawarma beef but of course the lamb was also pretty good. The baklava was probably the best baklava I've had before. It was not overly sweet and had a nice flavor. The rice was also nicely seasoned. The amount of food we were served was impressive. The gyro was a generous amount of meat and defiantly worth the price. We both are for about $30 with dessert and a plate of hummus, and have left overs we will enjoy. read more

I asked what the favorite was and this was the recommendation. What? The salad bar was picked over dregs, the hummus and baba ganoush were specs in the corners. We just had a rough weekend of eating fast food due to travel and moving, and Mediterranean food always makes me feel better if I can't have a homecooked meal. The pita was just okay, but I think it hardens a bit when it's sitting out for the buffet, so that's just the nature of it. The falafel was also not the fluffiest or biggest, but I'm not sure if that's just the nature of the buffet as well. They also had this soup out that they labeled "chicken shish soup." We shared a bowl of it and it was....SO. GOOD. I make a big deal out of what they named it because I definitely tried to google a recipe online and it does NOT exist lol. At least, not very easily. The soup that day was more reminiscent to me of a Vietnamese coconut curry that I love back home, so I was super interested in how that combination showed up in a Mediterranean place. I asked the lady who both cashiers/buses and she said they do tend to mix it up back in the kitchen, so it probably is just something they create on their own (and she is also a little put out that even she doesn't know what's in it! lol). Anyway, this place will be a regular for us while we are living up here. We're looking forward to their coffee and I'm looking forward to just ordering a sandwich every once in a while. read more

This little restaurant is located in a strip mall in front of the Holiday Inn and across the street from Wright State University. There was plenty of parking and had easy access from both sides, meaning the Holiday Inn or the Colonel Glenn Highway side. There was also plenty of seating inside, it was comfortable, and clean. Our waitress was a lively character! She seated us promptly and did a very good job of taking care of our needs. Another positive was that she made excellent suggestions based on our preferences. She is the reason that this review gets a four and not a three. This is the first time we've had Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food on a buffet (I would like to note that we are not usually buffet fans) and the food was average if not just below. I would like to note that the hummus, Turkish coffee, and lamb were pretty good and a tabouli wasn't bad either. All the rest was just OK. The service is excellent, the food is always delicious and perfectly seasoned, ample indoor seating, as well as ample parking outside. Located across the street from Wright State University on Colonel Glenn Highway, You can't miss this place. Although I go back-and-forth between the grilled chicken and shawarma, I always make sure to get an appetizer of baba ghanouj and pita bread. I came in for dinner one evening with my family and we tried a bunch of different menu items and were pleased with everything. The service was also fabulous. We had to wait a while for the food to come out, but I know that was because it is all made fresh to order. Our waitress was so friendly and welcoming. I ordered the veggie plate, it was a little smaller than it looked in the photos, but it was so tasty. I tried to eat as slowly as I could to savor every bite! My favorite thing was the hummus though. Others at my table tried some of the kabobs and shawarma. I saw that they have a lunch buffet during the week days.
