I was impressed with the felafel as there aren't many good food choices in this part of Ohio. The mixed grill equally impressed as I'm normally not a fan of lamb. Mom and I were craving some Mediterranean food so we hit up Yelp to find a place. We picked this place because of the pictures. Unfortunately, our experience was not reflected like these pictures. The service was good and we did receive a friendly greeting. We were surprised when we got there on a Friday night at 6:30pm that no other diners were there. People must haven been there previously since there was still dirty dishes on some tables. A couple people trickled in after we ordered. They had a salad bar, but some of the items were frozen in the pan. Ordered the beef schwarma and it was dry and like a pot roast texture. The server said that's normal. I have eaten at plenty of Mediterranean places where I have had incredibly amazing food. It has never been dry. The ambience was also uninviting. Unfortunately, I would not eat here again. Yaffa Grill is a good place for lunch and I have even picked up food to go for dinner before when the hubby and I didn't feel like cooking. I think the prices are good and I love that they have a lunch buffet. For lunch, I would get there early, its popular and they run out of things fast. The chicken shawarma meat is good, but the other chicken they serve on the buffet tends to get a little dry. I do like their hummus, it has a nice consistency, and I like their falafel. I do wish they would cut the pita, just a little bigger tough. I like to stuff them with a little of everything and then take a bite and its so small it is hard to do that. Love love the garlic aioli - it goes great on everything. They tend to stay pretty busy which is good (buffet food is rotating a lot), but service can be a bit slow, and you may have to wait a little for food to get replenished. All in all this is one of our places we like to go and I see us going back multiple times in the future. read more

Oh my! This is one of the best places I have eaten at in a while! I am just visiting the area this week but man, I wish I knew about this place sooner. It's a bit hidden in the shopping plaza when driving down the street, but you can't miss it when you make the turn. So.... I didn't really know what to get.. I was just hungry and wanted some food... I saw the Yaffa Grill mix and boom, I was done. The gentleman asked what sides... Ugh... Yeah... I said surprise and I love spicy... So, I get this food to go.. WOW, it was all placed in near containers, several sauces and a yummy red spicy one. The bread was nicely placed in a bag too! Well, the food tasted fresh and well seasoned. I ordered the Falafel and the Chicken Shawarma sandwich which was the perfect amount of food for a hungry (fatty) dude like me. I have grown to love Mediterranean food because my Wife has family that is Lebanese. I stopped here during a business trip because it had the best reviews of all the restaurants near my hotel. The Falafel was perfectly crispy. They're served with a runny sauce which is much different from the usual paste consistency garlic sauce in used to seeing. This was much less potent but was really good nonetheless. The Chicken Shawarma appeared to be all white and dark meat which I prefer. I also ordered the Turkish Coffee! Which is something that I have always loved. It's basically 2.5oz of espresso served straight black but has a very unique taste to it. It tastes how I imagine an outdoor Arab market smells. One of our favorite Mediterranean places in the Dayton, Oh area. My favorite thing thing to order here is the beef shawarma with the saffron rice and hummus. I generally am not a fan of hummus but I simply cannot get enough of theirs! The wife and I have been to Yaffa Grill multiple times for both lunch and dinner since moving to the area, but I've never gotten around to writing about my experience until now after our most recent lunch visit. Yaffa Grill serves Lebanese food with an AYCE lunch buffet ($10) in addition to its full menu service for both lunch and dinner. Located across the street from the Wright St. campus and short drives from both WPAFB's Areas A and B, Yaffa Grill is definitely a popular lunch spot, doing steady, solid business from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. We arrived at 11:45 AM. The dining room was at near capacity. We had a short wait for a table to be cleared before being seated, which wasn't really a problem since we weren't in a rush and we were having the lunch buffet. The buffet offered your usual suspects like shawarma (chicken and beef), falafel, pita bread, hummus, and baba ghanoush. The falafel and baba ghanoush have consistently been my two favorites. The falafel possessed the expected crunchy exterior with a soft, hot and steamy, nicely seasoned and spiced, chickpea interior. The baba ghanoush was the perfect combination of smoky notes from the fire-roasted eggplant, tahina, and a touch of acidity from lemon juice. Yaffa Grill isn't without its faults. Service can be hit or miss as drink orders are slow to be taken and water glasses aren't always refilled, but that's more attributable to insufficient staffing in the front of the house during the lunch rush. Also, the buffet frequently runs out of certain items which sometimes are slow to be replenished. That, too, is a function of the lunch rush. However, it also means that the items on the buffet line are usually freshly prepared and haven't been sitting around for long. Still, those are minor critiques. For my money, Yaffa Grill consistently serves up tasty, satisfying food at a very reasonable price especially at lunch. It will continue to be a regular lunch stop for me. read more

I've noticed a ton of Greek & Mediterranean spots in Ohio. I don't know anything about immigration or migration so don't try to explain. Just know that I noticed. Yaffa is one of those places. And the name of my boss when I worked at Hicksville Twin in the early 90s. They got an all you can eat salad bar that includes hummus, baba ghanoush, and dolma. The dolma were kinda whack. But the hummus was wonderful. Food is quite good. Service is fine, relatively quick. Prices are reasonable. And all you can eat Pita & Hummus. That's rad. read more

You could do the buffet or order what you want, but I would recommend the buffet since the food is already cooked. The hummus here was good as well as their chicken shawerma. The service is a little slow, but it's not too bad. There is also plenty of parking for the restaurant since there is a huge parking lot for Yaffa Grill as well as other stores. I was so excited to visit Yaffa Grill because I really wanted to eat some rich, comforting hummus and pita bread! Everyone was so sweet and helpful! Their menu lists yummy Mediterranean favorites such as the hummus plate, fattoush salad, and baba ganoush. I ordered the Yaffa Grill Mix (skewers of chicken and lamb with fragrant rice) which comes with two sides. For the sides, I chose the tahini salad and the hummus with pita bread. Everything tasted delicious. I especially liked the hummus and the tahini salad. I loved the yogurt dressing with the fragrant rice and the chicken. I also got some hot water with lemon.They have huge portions, so you can take some home for a snack later! Note that they use paper plates and plastic silverware, so it's kind of a dining hall and a restaurant. The food tastes good, though! And everyone is friendly! I want to come back soon! read more

Whoa buddy I liked this place a lot! First off, the food was high in quality and fresh. The lunch rush gave the place a bustling vibe. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. If it's your first time here and want to dine in, go ahead and grab a table of your choice, menus are on the table, and a waitress will come by shortly to take your order. I ordered the Yaffa Mix Grill, which came with beef, lamb, and chicken, cooked skewered but served with the skewer removed, on a bed of rice, which was sweet. My favorite meat was the beef, which was steak quality, well-seasoned, well-cooked, with no chewiness at all. My second favorite was the chicken which had an Indian-tandoori kind of taste, and was also tender and juicy. I didn't love the lamb as much; it was ground and pressed, much like a hamburger patty, but shaped long and skinny. My order came with two appetizers (or sides). I chose the hummus because it was recommended on Yelp, and the Turkish salad based on my waitress' recommendation. I've never been in love with hummus but this was some of the best I have had. It had chick peas and a spicy red paste in the center, plenty of oil, with parsley and a kind of spice I didn't recognize around the whole dish. I really liked the Turkish salad. It is tomato-based, has pepper seeds, onion, and parsley in it, and tastes a little like American chili without the beans, but served cold. It was perfectly spicy and had a great kick. Both dishes came with a plate of pita bread which was served warm and if not made there then at least so passable as freshly baked that I couldn't tell the difference. My waitress was really nice and came to see me about four or five times during my 20-30 min dining experience. The restaurant was completely packed but people were filtering through easily and everyone seemed to be getting served happily. The food here is very very good. Not sure the exact ethnic origin but it reminds me more of Jordanian/Palestinian Mediterranean food vs Turkish or Israeli. No matter what it is very well prepared. Grill plates are perfectly cooked but a bit too much food and too pricy for lunch. The wrap combos are a great lunch deal and I am a fan of the vegetarian plate. I held off writing a review when they first opened because the service was a bit rough and didn't match the quality of the food. They seem to have worked all that out. Service is much better now. We're visiting and while in the area decided to get some healthier food. Food was decent, not the best Mediterranean that I've had but my husband really enjoyed his chicken shawarma sandwich.
