Yelp Review 2023 #319: I've been going to Mr. Smog to get my annual smog check for the good ol' DMV for the past 3 years. They're right next to a gas station and Viva Zapata's. They have 2 service lanes and the times I've been here, I'm always the only customer which is great for me. The old place I went to in Aliante has a Starbucks next to it and it was a pain in the you know what. And that's how I ended up finding this place - and not the many times I've been to Viva Zapata's. I'm giving 4 stars for the first 2 years I've had my smog check done here and not the most recent visit. The first two visits were flawless. I handed them my little postcard from DMV, I step out of my car and they take care of the rest: smog check and registration renewal. Quick and hassle-free process. My last visit, I pulled up, handed the young man my DMV postcard and I stepped out of the car. He asked me for my car key which was still in the ignition. He did the smog check gave me my paper and told me the amount for the smog check. I asked him "can you do my registration renewal" and he said "no". I told him I've been getting my renewal done with my smog check for the last 2 years I've been here. His reply: "our services are temporarily down." Whatever. I paid. As I was pulling out of the service lane, my car wouldn't reverse. I checked the e-brake and it wasn't that. The guy forgot to take his little contraption from behind my wheel! So, I stepped out of my car and told him. Next year, I'll do a drive by and if it's the same dude working here, I'll go to Aliante. read more

I went to get a smog on my 1970 Buick and the tech is struggling to see the computer and not keeping the rpm in the range again because he can not see the screen and i am trying to help him, and it come back as a fail. I ask him if he could do it again and he said i would have to paid again,I go to another company on the same day and it pass. While i was stand there another guy was waiting and ask him if his check engine light was on will it pass and he going to lie and tell him it all depend, let tell the truth and be honest you know it not going to pass and that is what i told him and he left.people will respect you more when you just tell the TRUTH. read more

I called first to see if needed an appointment for my smog test. I did not. I was told that I could come in til 5pm. Which is their closing time but he said as long as I was there before he can get me in. I didn't inquire about price. I did manage to get there at quarter til 5 and Emmanuel took me in and was very quick and conversed with me as he did the smog test. He was informative to my questions and very nice. The test did not take long maybe 5/10 minutes and I was on n my way. This was not my usual smog place to go to but the one I have gone to for the past many years no longer did smog altho they still advertised they do (big brand tires use to be AA Auto on corner of Centennial and Losee) but the Smog Shoo is my new go to and I'll recommend to anyone who asks. drove to this spot after a 14-hour shift to get my smog checked and renew my registration. Although there was a line, the man (who's name I didn't get) working this morning worked so efficient that I only had to wait 15 minutes to get service. It took 5 mins for the entire transaction. They charge about $25 for smog check and $10 (plus the entire cost of your registration renewal). I definitely recommend this place! I saved so much time, gas and mileage for $10. I've had quite a few cars smogged over decades in multiple states. This was the first time I had to smog a hybrid (which I still think is stupid). Service is extremely fast and efficient. Mine was 3 minutes from the time he hooked up the OBD. I will share with you, if you're one of those 'Muricans who feels like they have to drive a huge gas guzzling SUV, your smog check will take a lot longer. He can also get your registration renewed. That part is included in the time quote I gave. I'm telling you, if you drive a normal, efficient HYBRID car, it's FAST. People complaining about the arrows... There are two streets, Craig and the side street. If you enter from Craig it's straight into the parking spot, but there's not a lot of space if they have a lot of people. But nobody enters there, they all come from the side street, and that arrow just points at the building and is unhelpful. Try to go in from Craig entrance if possible. read more

I had him show me what he talking about and the little female the plug thier machine in had fallen off its clip. If I can give it a ZERO I would, I went there my second time(first go around was rough) but I thought I'd give it a second try. The fat African guy working has a huge attitude problem and lacks customer service. The vibe was completely off from this guy the second time around. I still have 3 other vehicles I need to smog and I will definitely take my business up the street to the Meineke which is 2min away for any other personals with the same situation. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Went in, he put the bricks under my tire, went to hook a cable up & told me it wouldn't work with my car (it's a 2016). He then started the "test" & told me I failed because he couldn't hook that cable up & I still had to pay... he knew he couldn't complete the test in the beginning but he forced me pay anyway.
