Quick take: recommend by a friend This spot was recommend by a friend. The food is delicious and the service is also 5 stars. Can't go wrong going to Mr. Teriyaki. Bentos are good. Rolls are also good.

I recommend this place for people craving sushi rolls staying in the hotels near the airport off of Bayshore in Burlingame. I recommend the sushi and rolls. The Bento boxes are probably good for lunch weekdays and less expensive? 18.95? The Bentos are $24.95 at dinner. The food is ok and portions are not as large as some touted a few years back. We do not recommend the tempura items. Stick with sushi or single entree items. We were not as impressed with the Bento boxes

I'll start by saying that's it's good that it had good reviews. Otherwise, I would have seen the location and left without going inside. It's in a dark corner of a parking lot behind a building. It's a small restaurant with limited seating. No liquor but they had beer and wine. The nigiri was expensive but the portion size was generous and was roll that I had was very good! Service was good, but nothing exceptional. Will go back next time I'm flying out of SFO.

It was close to my hotel as I'm traveling and I just saw I could quickly walk to it. So I went. Now though if I'm back in town I will even drive to it no matter where I'm staying at. This is a totally legit Japanese place. The server and the hostess were both perfect. Since I had not really eaten the entire day, I did order a bit much of food but every single one was delicious. This is a great little spot for sure.

Wonder Woman roll! Topped with macadamia nuts and unagi!

Insane. In the best way. Most generous portions I've ever seen. Sashimi cut so thick you cannot believe it melts in your mouth. Fish is fresh and perfect. Prices are fair and an excellent value. Bar selection includes imported beer, sake, plum wine, and soju. You cannot go wrong here if you like tasty fish and fresh rice! The man next to me got a bento box with double salad, salmon sashimi, and salmon teriyaki. I ordered Wonder Woman roll and sashimi combo. He finished a delicious healthy lunch. I brought home an extra late night snack. Absolutely beautiful food, so healthy and fresh!

Food was great, service was quick, and there is a cute interior inside. Felt very homey and comforting inside. The staff were very polite. The locals are lucky to have this place! I had the Hilton sushi, it was well made and full of flavor.

I was craving sushi and came across this hole in the wall spot nearby. 10s across the board for the quality of food, service, price, and availability of parking. Since coming here in the last 4 months, I've gone quite a bit for a quick bite. So grateful to have come across this business!

When there's consistent business at a place as out of the way as this, then you know it's good. We really liked the sushi and would be down to try more rolls. The tempura was more of a miss - didn't seem worth the price. Not the prettiest interior but it was full of happy diners and good vibes.

    Avo Crunch

Food was amazing and super fresh. The menu made it easy to decipher cooked/raw/spicy and had a lot of pictures so you know what you're getting. The Avo Crunch appetizer was a good option for trying to stay low carb and it was very yummy. Our food also came out extremely fast so if you are having to wait for a table, it probably won't be very long with the attentive service and short food prep time (and even if you did have to wait, it would be worth it because the food was some I would like to eat again).

Bright red "tuna" that's so stiff, it doesn't even land or stick to the rice

We used to love this place because of their fresh fish but today: what we got was not it. We ordered our regular, the cherry blossom and sexy roll (because we used to love their tuna). Immediately, we noticed that the tuna was bright red, almost neon, definitely artificial and processed. The fish did not feel like the melt-in-your mouth tuna. It was leathery, tough, had a bad aftertaste and almost has a texture similar to a cooked a bell pepper. What did u guys serve us?! I hope anyone else noticed this coz that was the worst sushi we've ever had.

Best hole in the wall sushi! very nice place and service was great! Good drinks great food!

Restaurant is very open with great views of airport terminals and airfield. Servers were very friendly and helpful, especially Flora. I ordered a cocktail and we brought a bottle of wine from home to enjoy. The smoked poke was very good and also really cool when they took the lid off at the table. We also noted that it was the first time we've had something like this that had enough wontons on the side. Normally you always run out. Not here. The sushi was good but very small for the price. The last thing we ordered was pasta with foraged mushrooms. This was our least favorite. Was expecting a creamy earthy pasta with the mushrooms but the mushrooms almost seemed pickled. There was a very vinegary taste from the mushrooms that was off putting. The pasta was also very very al dente. Way too undercooked for us. Lastly this place can be a little pricey. Yes you're in the SF Bay Area and you're paying for convenience but to me pricey for what you get. Location and views are great and the staff is super friendly

I absolutely love Eggs Benedict, and so it's a no brainer for me if it is on the menu. One can upgrade the dish to include Thai style Dungeness crab cakes, and it is worth every penny. Service here is also warm and inviting. Depending on where one is going, the time of the flight, the time of season, and overall time one has; staying at Grand Hyatt SFO and getting a bite at sit down, in this case Quail + Crane; makes all the difference for a long journey ahead.

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and overall it was a really memorable experience. We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

Clean modern space, service checked in frequently and water refills were good. They answered any questions I had and provided good suggestions. Everything was prepared well. There was some waiting for different parts as some came from the kitchen and some from the chef. Since it was busy it definitely set things back a bit. Everything from the chef had a simple description for what it was. My faves for the meal were the scallop sashimi, the chiwan mushi, the yakimono, king salmon, and med fatty tuna. The scallops were flavorful, and just melted. Probably the best bite that I had. The cuts of fish were great. I liked how simple the chiwan mushi was. Definitely was great with the cold weather. The yakimono the butter wasn't overpowering and was well balanced with the ingredients. There was also a fried appetizer that was good but the name of it escapes me. Certainly worth the price tho if I had more people with me, I would definitely get reservations.

Fast forward, it's Mom's Day, kids having meals on their own as parents, our celebration is to go somewhere good to have a meal, no lines (didn't make a res), kinda spontaneous. Hanabi fits the bill. Ordered the pork belly ramen ( looked really good at a neighboring table) and the Mayu-ramen, spicy, with kfc chicken (not what you think, means something else), both with a miso base. Wait was reasonable, time to get a table was 30 seconds tops. Other nights it's been jammed but not Mom's Day, just quiet, enjoyable. Both meals were spectacularly reasonable, serving what you'd want, with enough of everything to want to dive in because you were pretty assured you were going to be satisfied. Not fru-fru or bougie, ingredients that make the dish memorable yet feel you are knowledgeable and appreciated. Pork belly was soft, fatty yet lean, cooked well enough to be tender, yet with a little chew (not disintegrating like some bellies), lots of noodles al dente so you appreciate the noodle was not a mushy mass in the bowl like some places. The Mayu came with 3 drumsticks burning hot from the fryer but oh so good because it's served in a separate dish so it doesn't get soggy. The spicy is good enough to keep things interesting with losing its identity (unlike a lot of places). And they give plenty of ramen because it's that good. We keep coming back because they serve no-frills, you-can-bank-on-it ramen that is satisfying, consistent; staff is friendly without being overbearing. It's not a big place, tables and a counter, but they know how to keep diners happy and coming back for more. What more can you ask for? Thanks, Hanabi, will definitely be back!

The Santa Barbara uni is still the highlight, rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. It's still one of the best I've had, although I did notice the portions have gotten smaller. As a regular who's been coming here for years, I was disappointed with the bluefin toro and kanpachi. The bluefin toro lacked the buttery texture I remember, while the kanpachi was missing its clean flavor and firm, delicate bite. Overall, the quality didn't feel as consistent as it used to. We also ordered a few rolls and a bento box, which were decent. Service was a bit slow, although they seemed busy, and the ambiance was fine. I've brought many friends and family here over the years because this used to be one of my go-to sushi spots. It makes me a little sad to say this, but I do feel the quality has declined.
