The place is very sketchy and dark outside. The sushi is very mid. The seasoning for the rice isn't noticeable and I made my boyfriend eat it for me. I wouldn't come again. The waitstaff was nice but I had to try to wave them down for 5 minutes before they noticed me

Amazing sushi spot tucked away in a little known building. The sashimi here is super generous and flavorful. The salmon sashimi we ordered were THICK slices and great quality. The rolls were great as well. My personal surprise favorite of the night was the Hamachi Kama - grilled to crispy perfection but still juicy! I love the sake selection here, there's a good amount of cold options. Ask your server for a recommendation! Note that this place is SO popular that they can start running out of sushi rice on a weekend night so I recommend coming or ordering early!!

Quick take: recommend by a friend This spot was recommend by a friend. The food is delicious and the service is also 5 stars. Can't go wrong going to Mr. Teriyaki. Bentos are good. Rolls are also good.

I recommend this place for people craving sushi rolls staying in the hotels near the airport off of Bayshore in Burlingame. I recommend the sushi and rolls. The Bento boxes are probably good for lunch weekdays and less expensive? 18.95? The Bentos are $24.95 at dinner. The food is ok and portions are not as large as some touted a few years back. We do not recommend the tempura items. Stick with sushi or single entree items. We were not as impressed with the Bento boxes

It was close to my hotel as I'm traveling and I just saw I could quickly walk to it. So I went. Now though if I'm back in town I will even drive to it no matter where I'm staying at. This is a totally legit Japanese place. The server and the hostess were both perfect. Since I had not really eaten the entire day, I did order a bit much of food but every single one was delicious. This is a great little spot for sure.

Food was great, service was quick, and there is a cute interior inside. Felt very homey and comforting inside. The staff were very polite. The locals are lucky to have this place! I had the Hilton sushi, it was well made and full of flavor.

Wonder Woman roll! Topped with macadamia nuts and unagi!

Insane. In the best way. Most generous portions I've ever seen. Sashimi cut so thick you cannot believe it melts in your mouth. Fish is fresh and perfect. Prices are fair and an excellent value. Bar selection includes imported beer, sake, plum wine, and soju. You cannot go wrong here if you like tasty fish and fresh rice! The man next to me got a bento box with double salad, salmon sashimi, and salmon teriyaki. I ordered Wonder Woman roll and sashimi combo. He finished a delicious healthy lunch. I brought home an extra late night snack. Absolutely beautiful food, so healthy and fresh!

I was craving sushi and came across this hole in the wall spot nearby. 10s across the board for the quality of food, service, price, and availability of parking. Since coming here in the last 4 months, I've gone quite a bit for a quick bite. So grateful to have come across this business!

Very impressed with the quality of a delivery order. Sushi & sashimi combo. ($39.00 via uber eats)

When there's consistent business at a place as out of the way as this, then you know it's good. We really liked the sushi and would be down to try more rolls. The tempura was more of a miss - didn't seem worth the price. Not the prettiest interior but it was full of happy diners and good vibes.

Food was amazing and super fresh. The menu made it easy to decipher cooked/raw/spicy and had a lot of pictures so you know what you're getting. The Avo Crunch appetizer was a good option for trying to stay low carb and it was very yummy. Our food also came out extremely fast so if you are having to wait for a table, it probably won't be very long with the attentive service and short food prep time (and even if you did have to wait, it would be worth it because the food was some I would like to eat again).

The service was amazing -- one super efficient waiter handled pretty much the whole room with a manager. Very attentive water refills and very accessible. The food came out so quickly and was delicious! Chicken katsu curry is $18 and generously portioned. I got the katsu rice plate (no curry sauce, but a sweet BBQ-ish katsu sauce) which came with a pile of cabbage salad, pickled cucumber salad, marinara spaghetti (somewhat inexplicably, but they do specialize in Japanese spaghetti here), rice, and miso soup for $19. A good deal! Chicken was tender and moist. The chicken katsu udon has a good amount of spice and flavor; just note it's on the spicy side. Also really appreciate the sesame seed grinder, the assortment of peppers and spices at the table you could add, and that there is a self-serve napkin dispenser. Those little things make a difference.

If you plan on visiting during the weekend, expect a wait. The line can get pretty long, but after eating here multiple times, I can confidently say it is worth every minute. Some restaurants are all hype, but Curry Hyuga earns every bit of the praise it receives. The katsu is consistently excellent. Whether you order the chicken or the pork, the breading is always perfectly crisp while the meat stays incredibly juicy and tender. That level of consistency is something I really appreciate because every visit has been just as good as the last. The curry is what keeps me coming back. It is rich, comforting, and packed with layers of flavor. Every bite has a depth and complexity that makes it stand out from your typical Japanese curry. It is the kind of meal that leaves you thinking about it long after you have finished. One thing I also really enjoy is the atmosphere. The restaurant strikes a great balance between being lively and comfortable. There is enough energy in the room that it feels welcoming and full of life, but it is still quiet enough to have an easy conversation without having to raise your voice. I often find myself stopping in for a solo meal when I am in the area, and it is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful lunch or dinner by myself. At the same time, it works just as well when I bring friends and family. It is one of those rare restaurants that feels right no matter who you are dining with. The staff has also been nothing but friendly and welcoming every time I have visited. Even when the restaurant is packed, they stay attentive and keep things moving with a smile. If you have been debating whether to wait in line, take this as your sign. Curry Hyuga earned its place among the Top 100 Restaurants in the country for a reason, and it continues to prove why with every visit. I will happily keep coming back.

Nigiri is $3.25 each; specialty roll is $2.35 each; and inari is $2.75 each. My bf and I each got a small box. I got 8 pieces of sushi and my bf got 9. We also got a Salmon Mayo Onigiri and a Pork Katsu Sando. The fish tasted fresh, and the cuts were a good size. The fish to rice ratio was good. There's a self-serve water and barley tea station. The barley tea was nice and cold. I love barley tea so it was perfect to have with the sushi. On the other hand, the onigiri was okay. I wish there was a little bit more salmon and mayo. There was just very little filling. There was a short line when we arrived but more people came after we got our food. The line wrapped around inside the shop so it got a little crowded. Ordered a few items, a shrimp sandwich and a tuna onigiri. Ordering was simple, very quick and transparent. I loved the food - sushi was very fresh and I was actually quite full after 4 pieces. The sandwich was tasty -- the shrimp was perfectly balanced with the slaw and the bread had a nice soft bounce to it. Dropping one star because seating is very limited and it's generally seems geared for a quick takeout. However we luckily found a seat immediately and enjoyed the warm weather. Despite this I'd def come again and will order more to try next time! If you find a seat, take it and enjoy the free barley tea offered as well. Friendly service too - thank you!

The place itself is homey, cozy, and feels like a family run place which it is -- apparently the owner used to be a chef for a former Japanese ambassador! The dishes, while *almost* kaiseki style, runs more homey too -- you will find simpler family dishes you can choose as mains like miso cod, tempura or chicken wing. Same with the drinks. There are nice sake and shochu flights, but not a specific pairing, and the selection is more mainstream (but still way more premium than a regular Japanese restaurant!) The waitstaff are all very polite and well trained, maybe not at the higher end (like starred restaurants), but definitely the best in the area. The set menu allows for 2 choices: your main and your starch. They are seasonal so you might not be able to get the same yummy thing as previous visits, but they really utilize seasonal produce well -- on a recent visit, the corn was simply phenomenal. Dessert, is à la carte, and I never have the appetite for it by the end of the meal. Honestly, the portions are rather huge, unless you're a hungry teenager or a large eater, it'll definitely be more than enough food per person. They provide to-go boxes if you need. It's definitely an elevated date night kind of place, and definitely make reservations via text! They are super responsive.
