So we have been coming here for quite sometime for breakfast and now I am ready to give my local breakfast diner a review. This place is a hit or miss I feel like. I've tried many menu items and while some very delicious, there are some that are just ok. Eggs are a hit or miss as well. Sometimes they come how you like it(over medium for me) and sometimes they are either over or under on the cook times. they get really busy but that is no excuse for a bad egg. pancakes are fluffy and delicious and almost all the skillets are delicious. Stay away from the Benedict though. The sauce is comes broken. The wait staff is also hit or miss. I usually get people that are friendly but once in a while I get seated with someone who just isn't as friendly. I found a dish that i personally love and it comes consistently good every time which is the Mexican skillet. Hash browns are crispy and the bacon is as well. I suggest giving it a shot and if it's a miss the first time it's probably a Saturday. read more

Our waitress was delightful. The food was all pre-made microwave food. I had better food from college dorm cafeteria. My dinner was room temperature. My husband had chicken that was impossible to cut it was so hard. The rolls were stale. The coffee was very weak. read more

Pretty much standard Denny's style diner. Burgers are decent but they ask to cook to order but don't fulfill. Our 'medium' burger was VERY well done. Lots of frozen items used in the cooking. Wasn't impressed. read more

It's been 8 years since we went and our 7-year-old son wanted to go there since we pass it so often. They've really improved over the years since our last visit! They must not be practicing good sanitation. The last 2 times I ate here, I ended up sick to my stomach. Today I had tuna salad. It tasted abnormally fishy, but I ate it anyway because sometimes tuna can be like that. I am totally regretting eating it now. I will never again go back. Love this place! Wonderful food, my family is never disappointed! The service is great with an organized waitstaff that works so hard to accommodate everyone. Crepes are excellent, I definitely recommend! Kid and adult friendly menu, and the friendly environment makes a perfect atmosphere to accompany the great food. The portions are great and we never leave hungry. In a display case at the entrance, they have delicious looking desserts and though I've never tried them it's definitely on my bucket list. Pile of luke warm GARBAGE !! I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and got chopped celery with mayonnaise on stale , cold bread. We had to keep getting up and GOING TO our waitress who was more concerned with flirting with the guy at the counter then her tables. We had first ordered an appetizer that she forgot to put into the kitchen. We had to flag down a different waitress to fill our drinks. When we complained about the food ( which we didn't eat ) the manager said they would replace it ( what are they going to do ?? REFUSE to cook food ?) but WOULD NOT take it off the bill. By far the best restaurant in the area. I've been a regular here since moving to Illinois over 2 years ago. I measure a family restaurant by how good their biscuits and gravy is and this place is #2 of my all-time favorites. Great sausage, generous gravy, and good biscuits. Food was fair at best. I got the strawberry pancakes with eggs special, was ok, but wish the eggs came on a separate plate as the strawberry sauce was all over my eggs- that was not tasty at all. My husband got skirt and eggs- the steak was not good at all. What really got me was the additional .50 added to each of our meals. When I asked our waitress, she said didn't you see the sign on the door, which we didn't, - she said it was due to the issues of chicken that had to be killed due to disease. I asked why wasn't it on the special board, or better yet in the menu where people would actually see it. Both our meals came with eggs, so was not happy to see we got charged .50 for eggs we already paid for per the price on the menu! Very underhanded I feel. We go out to breakfast a lot, and have NEVER been charged an extra fee for eggs. Two people for breakfast and two iced teas 30.00 for a below average meal- we will not be going back. read more

My family and I have been going to Mrs. V's since it was Blue Bay. We loved the resturaunt. until our recent visit. The service was great as usual. The reason for ok rating was because of the price. We have two children 11 and 5. We ordered three skillet meals and a kids meal. My husband ordered a diet pop, my kids had hot chocolate and I coffee. The price our our meal was $40 (not including a tip). I expect this for dinner, but not for breakfast. $10/person (one with a child's meal), is absurd. We will not be going back for a while because spending that kind of money on breakfast (eggs, veggies for me, sausage for the other two, hash-browns and toast) is an insane price. I know prices have gone up, but not at more than $10 per person for the big people meals for BREAKFAST!! The kids meal was equally pricey for ONE large pancake shaped like mickey mouse (that it is ALL-no meat, toast). The food tasted good, but it was not gourmet by any means. Disappointed in our local place. read more

Went there for dinner on Sunday night and my wife and I had the broasted chicken meal. The food was very good and the portions generous. My wife loves French onion soup and when she went to order it and was told if she wanted cheese, it would be .75 cents more. We received two rolls in our basket and when I asked for more, was told it would cost .35 cents a roll. Also, i wanted a little side of barbecue sauce for my chicken and was told it would cost me $1.00 for it. I thought that was over the top in my opinion, since in all my 58 years of going out that was the first time anyone wanted to charge me for a little sauce. My suggestion to this restaurant would be to build these costs into the price. Even though the food was good I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Overpriced for the portions served. Went there for the first and last time last night. The server was good but most of the wait staff was sitting at the counter loudly talking about their plans for when they got out of there. Lots of Greek items on the menu so seemed appropriate to order gyros. The pita was more than half onions. Once I got most of those off I was disappointed to see the meat was the same flat, thin, lackluster crap you can buy in the freezer section of any Wal-mart. Tzatziki sauce was bland at best. You can get better fries at Burger King. Service isn't bad but you can hit any Denny's and get better food for less money. read more

I have been a customer of Mrs. V's for a little over 5 years now. I dine here with family, friends, and a few groups from my church. I have a lot of good memories there, this was the first breakfast place my now husband I went to, we ate breakfast there the day after our engagement the day after our wedding, and several other times in between. So it only seemed natural that on our our one year wedding anniversary that we go out to breakfast to Mrs. V's. Upon arriving, we were greeted and seated promptly. We were given 3 menus and no coloring sheet or crayons for our daughter like we usually receive. The waitresses offered my husband coffee and turns to me to ask what I was drinking. She didn't even address my daughter! Ok, I let it slide. We order breakfast and I ask for my onions to be well done like usual. The meals come and as I'm trying to put the soft whipped butter on the pancakes, my butter is not melting / spreading nicely. I flip the pancakes over and try the other side thinking maybe just the top is cool but as I do this I feel that the pancakes are cold. I flagged my usual waitress down and ask if they could just warm the pancakes instead of requesting new fresh warm ones. Then I get to my skillet where the onions are barely cooked and barely cut. Now I start to get really upset. I tell the manager if I can have a new skillet with no eggs and no onions he apologizes and sends me a new one. The new one arrives and I start to eat it and I bite into another onion that is not cooked. I look throughout my skillet and see onions everywhere in it. Now I'm becoming really upset so I tell my server and she retorts back we'll we already took the first one off the bill. Ok that's not what I asked I asked you to correct it again. So then the manager says from across the restaurant that he didn't hear no onions. So now I'm looking at the manager and the server thinking well are we gonna make it right now? After a few seconds of staring at the manager waiting for another apology and an offer to fix my skillet I said forget it just give me my check. I want to get out of here. I pay my bill at the counter with the manager try to tell him how rude the waitress was and that I'm a long time loyal customer he says he knows he sees me in here all the time. So my response was that I'm really upset and I tell him that today was really special for my husband and I and now I'm upset. He didn't really seem to give a world and just wanted me to leave. No problem, because I will never return! Congratulations Mrs. V's you have lost a very loyal customer and I will be sure to inform all of my family, friends, neighbors, etc. of the lovely service I received today. read more

We were a little apprehensive when Blue Bay suddenly became Mrs. V's, but after trying it, I actually like it better. Not much has changed about the menu... but the atmosphere is definitely nicer! I always felt there was an impending outburst ready to happen with the management and wait staff at Blue Bay. All the waitresses are great there and deserve to be treated with respect. I feel like that's happening now. Oh and you really can't beat it for breakfast. We just discovered how great it is to call in an order for take out too! My daughter is a ranch dressing nut, and theirs ranks up there with the best! read more

Perfect when you're looking for diner food. I'm a gyro fan, so I go for the gyro wrap or plate. Hot food, friendly service, close to home.

Just stopped by for the third time in a couple of months and so far, yummy! I have tried the Greek Wrap and fries-delicious, broasted chicken with broasted potatoes-sooo good and a huge piece of Carrot Cake for desert. The other day I tried breakfast for the first time and had the Mexican Skillet with over medium eggs. It was really good and my eggs were cooked perfectly. I have not had a bad thing here yet and the service was good and the waitress was great. I will be back to try the bacon waffle next time! read more

I have eaten at this restaurant several times over the years and this is the first time that I have been disappointed with it. I had ordered the broasted chicken which I have on several other occasions. It was still raw and the manager said it was cooked. He said that it was "pressure cooked" for 35 minutes. My daughter agreed with me on it being raw. So he took it back and said that he'd cook it for another 5 minutes. A bit after 5 minutes, he brings it back and two of the pieces were burned to a crisp. He asked that if I wanted something else but I said no. I had errands to run. So he said that he would take the cost of the meal off my bill. I thought that this was fair. But when I got the bill, he charged me for the soup and mashed potatoes. I thought that this was clearly unfair. I was looking forward to a nice dinner and thought once he cooked the chicken I would have an enjoyable meal, so I kept eating the soup and such because I was hungry. He should have just taken the total cost of the meal off my bill. He charged me over $2.00 for a scoop of mashed potato. Thus said, we will never go there again. read more
