I have heard so much about this place and so we decided to bring my friend for his birthday. First off, they have a limited menu which was not specified only. I ordered chicken and waffles and the waffle was dry! I told the server and she stated she would charge me for a side of chicken and then replace my waffle with food because there was an internal issue (cook) she stated the waffles aren't usually dry. I get my replacement and they charge me for that and the side of chicken. The manager has no empathy and said he could charge me for both if I want the fish. I won't be back. This was my 1st visit and it won't be my last. While visiting from NY, I wanted to try a new restaurant and stumbled across this gem. I arrived for lunch with no reservations on a weekday. There was ample parking in the lot and no wait to be seated. Our server was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Serve two large parties were present and the bar area was full. Average noise level for a Saturday brunch. Food was good, great price for amount of food. The oxtails especially. For the price, I got lots of meat. And it was flavorful and tender. The steak and eggs were delicious as well. The sauce for the potatoes on the dish was the best part of the dish. The best thing we had to eat was the skillet cornbread with blueberry compote on top. It was dreamy. We went with cornbread over the biscuits at the recommendation of the waitress and it did not disappoint. Parking was also hassle free (around 11 am), but on our way out (around 1 pm) I could see how it gets tights. Made a reservation online and was seated immediately after arrival. The space is literally the cutest. There's a full bar, outside patio, and fun decor. The ambiance is a chill vibe. They start out with a playlist, but around noon the DJ comes through. Both the playlist and the DJ were lit. But the food here is the star of the show!! Omg! The best Mac and cheese I've had in life (no ), and the cornbread tastes like an elevated Jiffy! Baaabbby! The strip club wings and collard greens were also a hit. And I don't eat oxtails, but my husband got them. It was a lot of food (oxtails were meaty), and they came highly recommended by the server. I normally get oxtails and serve a decent amount- the oxtails are a la carte so you can add on sides and share or keep it to yourself as I do. The drinks are good, my favorite is the Icey 2.0- anything with st Germaine is delicious to me. I had great servers during both visits- very attentive, engaging and they all seem to know the menu to offer suggestions. I sat at the bar and the bartender was super attentive, made great suggestions, and even gave my friend and I complimentary shots. Now about the food.... In a word, superb! I got the jerk sauce on the side because I was a little skeptical about the flavor but it was so savory with the perfect amount of spice and really elevated the salmon. I've been hearing a lot about this place, albeit most people talk about their brunch. Environment: I went during the day at an off peak time to avoid any possible crowds. I like that restaurant is located in a strip mall so parking wasn't an issue. The space inside isn't huge and I could see how they may easily get packed and loud during busier times. Food/drink: Sat at the bar and ordered the Skillet Cornbread and Strip Club Wings to eat and the NYC Nutcracker and another cocktail to drink. The wings and the cornbread were quite tasty. The NYC Nutcracker was too sweet for me and just tasted like juice. I don't recall the name of the other cocktail, but it was also not satisfactory in taste/execution for the price. There were plenty of tables available and the option to dine indoors or outdoors. The restaurant is much larger on the inside than it appears from the outside. The service was prompt. I loved the skillet cornbread although I must admit I was a bit worried about the blueberries on top! I ordered the oxtails and cabbage, my sorority sister ordered the kale salad with shrimp. The food was good although a bit pricey. We only had bottled water and a sprite in addition to the two entrees and the tab was almost $100! Would have been more - but they were out of desserts. Now that was really disappointing since I love a good dessert. So for them to have NO dessert at all seemed like poor management. Interior is somewhat on the small end but uses its space well. Great, large central bar with a festive atmosphere throughout. There's a young and free feel to it all. Carafes of amazing mimosas were brought out to many. I enjoyed the pomegranate ones. The steak and fries were very tasty as was the beef patties. We ordered the Mac and cheese and the skillet cornbread, both were very good, especially the cornbread. We ordered some to go. For entrees, we ordered fish and grits and the jerk steak and frites. Took my fiancé to Ms. Icey's for his birthday dinner. We instantly loved the DJ spinning early 2000s RB and the urban decor. We dined the day of the Warriors and Raptors final game so was a bit disappointed it was only showing on one TV in the restaurant but the server accommodated our need and moved us near the TV. We started our dining experience with tasty drinks that still gave a good kick. The BBQ Shrimp appetizer was AMAZING. The dry rub underneath the batter made each bite super flavorful and the shrimp were a great size. Probably my favorite part of the entire meal. My fiancé ordered the ribeye with mashed potatoes & asparagus and I had the Jerk Lamb Rib with sweet potato mash and kale. We had to send his ribeye back because it was over cooked. He did enjoy the second attempt at the ribeye but we thought for the price it was going to be a thicker cut of meat. I loved the lamb rib but the sides not so much. I later opted for regular mash instead. The only major thing that made a deficit in my rating was the delay in service. When available our waitress was very engaging but we often had to flag her down to order additional drinks or express our concerns. The actual cornbread has a tender crumb, and the sweetness from the honey butter and blueberry sauce is what makes it great. The wings are very good. They were not crispy like I prefer, but the flavors are layered and craveable. There was a smokiness to them that I particularly enjoyed. For my entree I ordered the jerk chicken with a side of kale. The chicken was very tender and the jerk sauce was delicious. The kale had a nice crunch and was a great balance to all of the heavier items I'd eaten. I wish there weren't so many stems in it, but that's just my preference. I had an opportunity to taste the jerk pork chops which were scrumptious, and the grits which were super creamy. Overall the food was excellent and I'll definitely be back to try some other items. The restaurant is on the smaller side size wise.
