I thought that the wings were not as crispy as typical Korean fried chicken that I have had, but it was still crispy and juicy. The sauce for the chicken is in a sauce cup that you drizzle or dip your chicken in and I did not like that too much as I felt like the flavors from the sauce did not absorb well into the chicken. We also tried their green salad (cabbage and corn with a 1000 Island-type dressing), Kimchee mac and cheese (not to our liking), and the Korean corn (kernels with mozzarella cheese). Didn't get a pic of our 1/2 bird before we chowed at it. For the Taiwan Beer, this was the least favorite version that we tried (mango and lychee were great tasting). The establishment itself was simple, with some bench seating and regular chairs around tables, black walls and a couple of tvs. You order at the counter and the menu is clearly displayed on the wall. The cashier was cheerful and welcoming. It wasn't long for our order to come up and the chicken was piping hot. I didn't eat all wings and French fries so I had leftovers and when I tell you it tastes better the next day!! I had been wanting to check this place out for a while, so my friend and I finally walked over for a Saturday night dinner. Inside, the space felt pretty industrial and seemed like more of a takeout spot, but there was still plenty of space and seating. The food came out pretty fast and the staff was super nice with getting us napkins to clean off our table which I appreciated. Very casual fast food vibe. The menu is small and very specialized to what they do. I ordered the chicken tenders which came with a very generous 6 pieces nicely breaded with a bit of a spicy seasoning (I'm a spice wimp so it was a little spicy for me). I ordered them with the Korean sweet heat sauce as the person taking my order at the counter said that it wasn't very spicy and she was right. She was also very efficient and friendly. The sweetness of the sauce pairs wonderfully with the already spiciness of the chicken. I also got the kimchi Mac and cheese which was delicious and also just a little spicy. They have a fountain drink machine with Coke products which I loved to see as so many places just have a cooler with bottled and canned drinks and I prefer fountain soda. Did some research to find the best Korean Fried Chicken in the ATL area and came upon this gem. The service is quick, the food is good, and the parking was easy to get, right out front of the restaurant there are a few spots only for this establishment. The ambiance is casual and the decor is so cute with personal photos of people and customers. To use the restroom you have to put a code in, you can get from the cashier. Please note, this is NOT your typical Korean fried chicken place with the double fried, thick crispy skin laced in sauce. It's more of a traditional fried chicken but not overly battered. It's the perfect balance of thin, crispy skin and juicy meat. My gosh, it's so delicious! I also love how the sauce is served on the side vs. doused on top of the chicken. It was my first time trying something like this. It was different yet tasty and a bit on the spicy side. If I were a spice girl, this place would definitely be at the top of my list! However, I'm not but I still forged through. The flavors are yummy and a, I would have never thought of this but surprisingly, it works! The space coming in was cool too, very modern chic. Unfortunately, on the day that I went the staff there wasn't as helpful. In a place so unique like this, it is imperative that someone greets you and when you tell them that you've never been here before, give you insight on what's in store and maybe offer suggestions. That didn't happen at all, it was more so, please know what you want before ordering because I don't have the patience or willingness to assist. Outside of that (which is a big thing because if anyone has read my reviews we all know that friendly staff is major on my list of feeling like me and my money is appreciated and for whether or not I'll return, share and invite others since I always have family and friends coming into town. Went to Mukja for the first time for lunch today. I had the wings which I thought were very good. Super crispy and crunchy, just the way I like them. My husband had the bird on a bun and he said it was just ok. I didn't try it. We had the cheesy corn and it wasn't very good. Also the Korean slaw was good but a bit too spicy for my taste but if you like spicy you'll probably love it. The inside is pretty cool with the murals. A lot of the chicken was very dry. My sides were max n cheese, fries and the slaw. The slaw was good. Max n cheese was pretty flavorless and mushy. I'm giving it 3 stars because the soy- garlic sauce was great and helped with the dry pieces. They validate parking for 2 hours in the Metropolis deck. Venue and Atmosphere The decor is sleek, simple, and clean. You order at the counter and wait for your food. They have a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine (win!) as well as canned alcoholic beverages. Service The employees were kind, professional, and helpful. Food was served promptly. Food and Beverages My date and I shared the wings, mac and cheese, tofu rice bowl, and Korean Slaw. I will say the mac and cheese was very creamy and flavorful; it was mixed with kimchi. Restaurant mac and cheese can be hit or miss and this was surprisingly good. The wings were well seasoned and crispy. The Korean slaw is plain and requires sauce; the soy garlic and sweet heat mixed well. The tofu rice ball was also delish; I don't usually eat tofu so I don't have a comparison point for the flavor, but I did enjoy it. My only complaint is that the Freestyle drink machine was missing several flavors... I was craving an Arnold Palmer with peach lemonade lol. Fun fact: fried chicken was first introduced to Korea when the American military set foot and stationed on Korean soil during the Korean War in the late 1940s. The US troops that were stationed in Korea during Thanksgiving only had chicken instead of turkey to celebrate - and the rest, as they say, is history In the case of Mukja (which means "Let's Eat" in Korean), two entrepreneurial friends (Peter and Sean) wanted to create a business that stood out while also drawing upon their vast restaurant experience. They decided to put their talents together, one thing led to the next, and ultimately Mukja KFC was born. There's something about every KFC joint that hits you slightly different. Maybe its the fact that the chicken is double fried that leads to a delightful crunch- or maybe it's how the chicken is usually tossed in sauces with sweet/spicy/savory notes along with a proprietary secret batter.
