It's a little hard to spot but it's right across the street from the old Kid's Castle and 85 degree bakery. We've been looking for our go-to Indian restaurant and can say that we have definitely found it after visiting Mumbai Chowk tonight! Don't judge the location/setting - judge the food! The food is absolutely wonderful! Perfectly seasoned, not overwhelmingly spicy (without requesting it to be that way). We took two people with us who were hesitant to try Indian food and they loved it and were even scraping the bottom of the dishes with their naan to get every last bite of sauce. Owner and staff were very friendly and lovely to talk to. It's nice when an owner will come out of the kitchen and chat with guests. Lamb Biryani - more like "medium" spicy - a little bit too spicy but still do-able. (comes with rice and a hard boiled egg) Our food came with a yogurt/cole-slaw thing that helped when we wanted our tongues to cool down from the spiciness. Food was good. Clean place. Yelped a near by restaurant and this place came up as a top search; decided to check it out. I've been to a few different Indian restaurants but I have to say, this place is authentic. When I saw the yelp deal for free mango lassi with check-in, we all asked for it. The waitress said it was only supposed to apply one per table, but she gave it to us all for free. I really like the food there. Almost all items are good. So I keep ordering from them. Menu is well designed with different types of food. I should tell that the ordering system is completely screwed up. Once I ordered a vegetable Biriyani for a party for my vegetarian friends. When someone found that it was chicken Biriyani when they took it in their plate , I was really embarrassed. I complained in hopes that I could help them. And I talked to the owner a second time to report the mishap. But they truly believe that it was me who made the mistake. It is time they give some training to person at front desk or get a better one! If you are ordering (especially for big party) , make sure they read back all the orders after writing it down. Amazing fish thalis! Try their surmai and pomfret thali. Reminded me of konkan food. The owners are super friendly as well and they said they used to have bigger thali pre-pandemic. Can't wait for that version of fish thali to come back on menu. read more
