Amazing Indian food in the heart of manhattan. What more can you ask for? Muna is a delight for the senses. The tastes, the smells completely encapsulate you form the first step into the restaurant until your last bite. The prices are fair and the food is delicious. And the all day special is incredibly worth it. $30 for entree app and dessert is unheard of these days. If you are looking for good well priced Indian in nyc, don't look further than Muna.

Customer service was great, no complaints there. Food on the other hand was ok. It was a buffet and even though that's not my preference, it was priced perfectly during the lunch hour ($19.99) and I wanted options. There were several options and all were standard, but nothing truly overwhelming--I believe the lamb curry was the best as the chicken in the other dishes were dry white meat. The biggest thing I noticed were several people taking their used plates back to the buffet to replenish their food (yuck)! Now, I will say I didn't see anyone use the spoon from the buffet dish to touch their used plate, but still--I think there needs to be some oversight about this. Decent though and maybe I'd try something off the menu next time.

Muna has an all day prix-fix menu, which allows you to get an app, an entree and a side /dessert for less than $30/pp. If that's not a steal in midtown, idk what is! The portions were great and the service was wonderful! The staff were really friendly, attentive and welcoming. It's def one of my go to spots whenever I'm craving a dine in Indian food and in the area. Ordered from the All Day Pre-Fixe Menu - the Mango Lassi, Chicken Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan. The Mango Lassi was creamy and delicious. The Chicken Samosa was good - a little spicy for me but the sauce complimented it well. The Chicken Tikka Masala was flavorful - the sauce was delicious and the chicken was well cooked. The Garlic Naan was just ok - wish it was a little fluffier.

Excellent choice for Indian food! We started with Lamb Samosa's which were very nicely prepared and had Lamb Tikka Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken for entrees - all excellent. The Garlic Naan for a side was also terrific. The entire staff was friendly and our server Sunita was very helpful and attentive. Highly recommend for Indian food in the Grand Central Station/Midtown East area.

This is my go-to spot for delicious, savory and reliable Indian cuisine. I order takeout from Muna at least once a week and it's equally as delicious as when you dine in. All of their curries have a wonderful umami with tender meat. I dine in or order food to-go from here confidently knowing the restaurant is super clean. The staff is so polite and kind and the if you choose to dine in, it's very peaceful with nice lighting.

All Day Special/Prix Fixe- Mango Kulfi. Tasty

I went to this excellent new Indian restaurant a few days ago. They offer an "All Day Special" similar to Bengali Tiger on the west side but with a whole lot better food for $28.95 or a few bucks extra depending on your add-ons. This place has two floors with the bottom being more bar like and the top looking a bit nicer. The top area has their lunch buffet also though I presume people can sit downstairs as well. The staff was friendly. The All Day Special consists of three courses. It comes with an appetizer, a main, and either a bread or dessert. There wasn't papadum in the beginning but that was fine as we left plenty full. I'll be listing the price of the dish on the main menu (unsure if the portion is the same) but in terms of add-on, the lamb dishes cost $1.95 more, the fish/shrimp dishes cost $2.95 more, and the kulfi is also $2.95 more. My appetizer was the Lamb Samosa ($9.95) listed on the main menu as ground lamb filled in crispy pastry and fried on the main menu. This was outstanding. The lamb was well spiced and the samosa texture had some good softness and crunch. It was plated on top of two chutneys; mint and tamarind which worked well with it. I also tried the Pakora/onion fritters ($7.95) which had a nice light fry. These were also tasty and I would recommend them also even if I preferred the samosa. There was also a choice of veggie or chicken samosa as well as lentil soup. My main dish was the Chili or rather as listed on the menu "Chilli" Salmon ($25.95) listed simply as Spicy Salmon. The sauce as expected was the same as in Gobi/Cauliflower Manchurian which is a moderately spicy sauce with a smoky sweetness. I am happy that the sauce wasn't thickened too much. The salmon was very tender and of good quality. There was also some chopped green bell peppers instead as expected as well for the dish. Tasty as well overall. Another person got the shrimp version of the same dish which were bouncy. I tried the Lamb Curry ($22.95) listed as lamb with home-style masala sauce which was tasty also. The lamb was tender and the sauce was well flavored though not particularly spicy. The dishes came with rice which is a nice surprise as many spots in Midtown unfortunately charge now. They also gave us some Naan on the house which was tasty. Nice and hot and not too much ghee but still with a good texture. For dessert, I went with the Mango Kulfi ($7.95) listed as mango flavored Indian ice cream, almond, and pistachio. My preference is Carrot/Gajar ka halwa but it's not as common but this worked. This was a well flavored version with plenty of nuts mixed into it. Not the best I've had but certainly better than most other spots. I tried the Ras Malai someone ordered (I think this was a buck more also) which was a solid version. There was also a choice of Kheer/rice pudding as well as Gulab Jamun. This is an excellent new Indian spot with a reasonably priced and very well flavored prix fixe. It's not my favorite Indian food in the area but my preferred spot lacks said prix fixe so it's much more expensive (Chola) so it's nice to have a secondary option. Would go back and try more things such as the Nepalese stuff on the menu. Mid 4 for the deal/food.

My friend whose a regular here recommended this spot for a last minute dinner - we were both super hungry and had a craving for Indian/Nepali food we did the dinner special which is an app, entree, and side/dessert for $27 which is such a great deal!!! we were immediately greeted with kindness and seated which was great. the music was popin they were playin lofi indian music from one of my favorite bollywood movies! we ordered momos and pani puri to start (off the dinner menu) which was delicious - the momos tasted pretty authentic. i wish the pani puri had chutney inside but we were given side chutney which i added for the dinner special i got chicken samosa, chicken tikka masala, and kheer. the whole course came with a side of rice complimentary which was very nice. all the food was so delicious - i wish the chicken tikka masala was spicier but its a good level to cater to all. i tried some of my friends biryani and it hit all the spice levels and flavors overall very delicious and authentic - would recommend and come back!!!

Been coming to NYC for years and stay with family, well this year our family has moved back to the UK and it's just us. So arriving in town I really wanted to get some Indian food for dinner, but try something new. Muna was a 10 minute walk from our hotel, and it being a beautiful night in March it was perfect to walk over. What a lovely find! So lovely and they are very welcoming when you walk-in. Service was excellent and they understood we couldn't have leftovers being in a hotel, and were honest if this or that was large or to be shared. I wish we could have ordered more, so many things on the menu looks worth trying... I hope to come back with more people in tow sometime soon. This is a definite must to try as the food spice level was perfect and so flavorful.

Very kind people making absolutely delicious food! We are new to the area and decided to stop in to try Muna and were very impressed! We were seated immediately, and they brought out a thin, crispy type of bread (I don't know the name of it!) and two chutneys. Both were delicious, but I especially loved the green chutney, which had a delicious herb flavor and decent amount of spice. Both were homemade. They have a prefix dinner special for $26.95 for an app, entree and side or dessert. They also have a great lunch special for $15.95. My husband ordered the lamb Samosa, chicken biryani, and naan. I ordered the chicken tikka masala entrée and garlic naan, but they also gave me a complimentary vegetable Samosa. Wow, the samosas were delish! The lamb samosa had a rich spiced flavor (not spicy), and the pastry was piping hot and crispy. I also really enjoyed the vegetable Samosa. It was so filling! The chicken tikka masala had a wonderful tomato sauce and juicy chunks of chicken. The chicken tikka masala was not spicy at all, so order a different dish if you're looking for heat. The chicken biryani was a very generous portion, perfectly seasoned, and moderately spicy. I have to say the naan was truly the best naan I have ever had! When I order garlic naan, I want lots of garlic flavor, and they delivered! I loved how thin it was with a nice amount of char - perfect compliment to the meal. We left stuffed and still had lots of leftovers Definitely check out Muna if you're looking for excellent service, a hot and well-seasoned meal, large portions, and reasonable prices. We can't wait to come back! We will be regulars. read more

I originally booked this place because it was close to our hotel. I wasn't sure what to expect. The service was phenomenal, they were very attentive. The food was delicious and so flavorful. I accidentally spilled some of the butter chicken on the table and they gave us more naan bread on the house! I was so touched, after all it was my mistake! The place is fun and clean. What a find. Found this on a list of the hottest new restaurants and was so glad we went. The food was GREAT! The server was shy but accommodating and super nice. It's far enough away from Times Square to get away from the madding crowd but still close enough to walk if you want to go for their prefixed ALL DAY meal! The price is so reasonable that you'd be surprised how great the freshness and quality is AND the size of the portions. Their samosas were unreal and big and hearty. They had many naan choices including a wonderful spicy chili one and one I never heard of it: coconut. Since it was my first visit, I tried my safe go-to dish: Butter Chicken and it amazed me. We actually then got tons of other things and were so happy to go to a place where nice people work and the volume of the place makes it great to talk to friends! read more

Away from the heavy traffic but still close to the theater district, this Indian/Nepalese restaurant is newly opened. The decor is pleasant, the staff is attentive and extremely welcoming. The food was excellent and plentiful, well seasoned and a bit spicy but not too hot. I recommend this establishment with verve. read more

Somewhat tucked away near Grand Central, Muna is an exceptional neighborhood Indian restaurant. Fresh food, generous portions, and reasonable prices. We both had the prix fixe and enjoyed everything. Grabbed a quick lunch here today. The service was friendly. They have plenty of vegetarian/vegan options, and a nice selection of chaat. This place was everything. The food, the service, the ambiance. It was all perfect. Went for lunch and decided to do a La carte rather than the offered buffet. Staff was warm and welcoming. Big plus for keeping water glasses always filled without our having to request! what a disappointment! we decided to have dinner at muna, because they are owned by the same group as a restaurant sathi, which our friends like. we were in the area, so it was a short walk to muna. should have continued walking. their cocktails should be listed as mocktails, since they have barely any alcohol. how they get away with the most blend food is a mystery. for an indian restaurant they should be ashamed to serve the driest basmati rice imaginable. it would only make sense if this rice was sitting on a kitchen counter for days. 2 very generous stars because the service was attentive. read more

Great food and service! We made a reservation for dinner on a Saturday evening, but we probably would have been fine without it. The location is so convenient to touristy places that I figured it would be too busy. The atmosphere is dressy casual, not stuffy at all. The food was excellent, flavorful, fresh, and delicious. We ordered through Uber Eats and the delivery person only brought one bag. When we called the restaurant, they remade our ENTIRE order and delivered it themselves to us. I was in awe of their generosity and willingness to make things right for us. Everything is delicious and the service is outstanding. We came the first time on Christmas night after mass and even though it was very busy, we received wonderful meals and service. We wanted Indian food and it was a close walk from Grand Central Station. The food and service was good. The chicken and lamb samosas were delicious and not greasy. Lamb korma and lamb vindaloo had tender chunks of lamb and both sauces were delicious. Unfortunately, the Chicken tikka Marsala had super dry pieces of chicken, even the tasty sauce didn't help so the chicken was left uneaten. We were happy with the garlic naan and the plain naan. If ever in the area, we would try again. read more

I came here for the lunch special and ordered chicken curry and cauliflower. I was hoping the food would be good because this is a new place, but it was very bland and flavorless. It tasted like it was cooked in one of those grocery store bought curry sauce. It seemed like it's cooked for palates that have never had Indian food before. I'm not coming back to this place again because in a 10 block radius there are plently of great indian/south asian places (in fact the curry house right next to it has amazing food). For some reason, there have been 3 new indian restaurant in this specific location the past few years, and all of them had terrible food. Cmon guys! The only thing that was really nice was their staff and servers. Very welcoming and warm and good service; but if the food is bland and uninspiring, no amount of service can make up for it. The chef really needs to get their act together, if this new restaurant is to survive in New York. Maybe this would be a good place in Kansas or Ohio, but by NY standards it's really poor. read more

Wow! Food & service were A+++. We had the: -vegetable samosa: great start. Full of flavors -lamb samosa: didn't leave a crumb -lentil soup: needs a bit more salt -steamed momo: we couldn't eat it all because we were so full but they were so good the next day. The spicy sauce is perfect with it -butter chicken: as expected, savory with lots of chicken -lamb korma: savory and just enough sweetness. Lots of lamb. Maybe a bit more nuts -rasmalai: perfect end to the dinner. Very aromatic dessert. Probably my favorite dish Service was impeccable. They knew exactly when we needed something. read more

I suspect that the word hasn't gotten out yet and not too many people know about this delightful midtown eatery. Take advantage of the honeymoon that comes with a new business and help keep them around for a while. Far east food, midwest prices and portions all in the big city. read more

As SATHI is getting so much love from our customers, MUNA is another step to serve midtown with simple dine in experience, private party hall and traditional and authentic food. We also offer patronage to Nepalese and Himalayan food lovers with Himalayan recipes. MUNA is offering Dine In, bar( upcoming), private events( up-to 75 people), takeout and delivery services. We started our first business named SATHI addressing 216 3rd Ave and operating as Indian / Himalayan restaurant. With a lots of love and support from our customers, we survived COVID pandemic. MUNA is new branch by SATHI. We welcome all Food lovers to be a part of our small food Journey. MUNA has different meanings in different origins. In Nepalese, MUNA is a new young growing leaf. In Arabic, MUNA is a desire or wish for something. In this Spring, with a desire to serve; we welcome all our food lovers out there with traditional homemade recipes and caring customer service.

Finally, without asking about desserts, another server came by with our check as if to say, "Please pay and make room for the next guests." I know we wanted a quick meal, but never thought we would be in and out of a situation down restaurant in less than 30 minutes. Hahaha Anyway, I live in Queens where we have same quality Indian restaurants at a much lower price point. Portions are bigger too. For me, this is an attempt at finding a gem that everyone seems to suggest. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to return to an Indian restaurant knowing they can't properly make naan.

Quick heads up if you've been to the original in New Delhi, while they share a name, the New York experience pales in comparison. New Delhi is a full tasting menu with bold, unique flavors and presentation. New York is much more westernized, a fusion fit for the American palate. Service was consistent throughout, though not the most helpful when it came to menu questions - don't expect much guidance if you're trying to decide between dishes. They start you off with a tiny mug of pumpkin soup, creamy and delicious. The burrata comes as a big ball of cheese with crispy lotus root for scooping. The dal with naan as your accompaniment is a generous portion and the dal is beautifully flavored. The tawa paneer has a lovely presentation but the flavor didn't stand out. Coorg black pork was moist and paired perfectly with the cracklings. Best part of the meal was the Truman Bazaar cocktail - Truman vodka, suze, and tomato foam. Sweet, bitter, and spicy all at once - a genuinely unique combination.

While waiting, was given Indian Chips (papadum) with excellent sauces, and onion fritters (Pakoda) on the house, both delicious. Food was absolutely fabulous.
