The chili chicken momos were really tasty and the chili sauce was delicious. The vindaloo was spicy but still manageable. A relatively new restaurant where 1 Darbar used to exist. We had fond memories of it. It has two floors. Downstairs has the bar and table seating for mostly ordering off the menu. You are steered upstairs if you want to do the buffet. There are lunch specials available on the menu. The staff is lovely, some more attentive than others. (One of our group got up to fill his own water glass but after that, did not have to.) We came in for the buffet with big expectations after seeing the high ratings but it was merely adequate. Perhaps because we arrived at 2 pm, several trays were depleted such as the tandoori grilled meats and the vegetable samosas. There was no offering of any type of naan. I guess I'd better finally take the time to give Muna a nice review. We've been to the Lunch Buffet several times and it doesn't disappoint. I'm vegetarian but addicted to paneer, so I'm relieved that Butter Paneer seems to always be included and a few other veg standards as well. The appetizer option on the buffet is mini-Samosas whenever we've gone, which is fine but not my favorite, so last time we ordered a side of Veg Pakora to accompany the buffet and they were delish. They allow you to step up to Garlic Naan for a few bucks more and it's well worth it. Their Naan is an exquisite texture and probably the best I've had in the city. It's consistently chewy yet crisp and delightfully flavorful. The Chutneys are tasty, although the Raita seemed a little sweet last time. Hopefully that was just a fluke. Also, the entire staff is always super sweet and friendly. I'm not saying this is the best Indian or Himalayan food I've ever had but it's pretty solid and we've never felt burned by the experience or like it wasn't worth what we paid. It's surprisingly difficult for us to find acceptable Indian food here in Manhattan and we're grateful for this yummy lunch option. Absolutely incredible new place in midtown East! We tried the steamed lamb momos, chili chicken momos, and lamb biryani. The momos were juicy and came with both a peanut and spicy chili sauce. Muna has a great Indian lunch special. You get two entries and a choice of rice or naan for $16. The only catch is that to get the lunch special, you have to get takeout only. The service was nice while we waited. They let us inside and gave us water to drink. I got the tikka masala and the butter paneer with rice. Everything was pretty good for the value. Came here for (late, ~2:00 pm) lunch on a Wednesday and it was almost completely empty. The restaurant was very large, with 2 floors and seating for large groups, but I think I saw only 2 people there at the time I went. After we were seated they gave us a free fried cracker type dish with 2 sauces (Papadums? not sure). It was good, and they brought more when we finished the first basket. I got the Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka Masala with rice lunch special. Both were very good and tasty, and the Chicken Tikka Masala was almost overflowing. I was stuffed afterwards, and it could pretty easily have been split into 2 meals. Seems like this place is new but they're definately making a good impression. Even though we were one of only a few groups dining, the food took a long time to come out and we had an item wrongly ordered. We came in on a Wednesday and though the restaurant was half empty, there was a steady stream of diners coming in.   This is a great spot for lunch located between Lex & 3rd on 46th Street. There is a nice selection of popular dishes for the $15.95 lunch special. Portion sizes are pretty good from our observation of other diners who partook. Most everyone had to request for a take-away bag.  It's such a great value and we will have to partake next time. Instead, we opted to order other items on the menu. We got Tandoori Chicken Tikka, Chicken Masala (there is a lunch special version btw), cilantro naan, garlic naan, jasmine rice, vegetable samosas, Mango Lassi, and rice pudding for dessert.  With tip, the entire meal came out to $82 and we were not disappointed in the least. My favorite place to get them is in London U.K. at this hole in the wall news stand (you read that right) in Piccadilly Circus. But I've always found them greasy...no matter where I've gone to get them--even in Jackson Heights, NY.  I end up using lots of napkins lol.  But HERE?  I was taken aback because they were NOT. Like, AT ALL.  My first thought was if it was overcooked? It was darker colored than what I'm used to.  Still it tasted great and the outer shell was flaky and crispy. The filling was deliciously spicy.  I would totally order it again. I need some yogurt on the side though because -- SPICY. Everything is FRESH, FRESH, FRESH!  I highly doubt any of the food is sitting under heat lamps or in chafing dishes in the kitchen waiting to be served. I had to wait 15 minutes for my tandoori chicken tikka because, to be properly served, it must be cooked in the clay oven and that takes time (as the server explained to me after I ordered it).  We really enjoyed every bite of our meal. My favorite thing to do is dip the naan bread into the masala gravy.  Yum. Yum. Yum. The Service was exceptional.  Our water cups were never empty and the staff was happy to stop and explain things or just to chat for a bit.  They care about your allergies and will ask about it as you are ordering.   There is a party room available upstairs that can hold up to 75 people.  It's free to use with your catering order. If you cancel on them at the last minute, you will be charged a fee for having had them hold the room for you. There is a lot of seating for Twos and and a few tables for bigger parties.  The two well kept restrooms are located in the back of the main floor just after the bar and the staircase that goes up to the party room. The decor is quaint. Check out the pictures I took to see for yourself.   They have a sister restaurant called Sathi which is located in Gramercy. It's on our list to try. We sat upstairs where it was quieter and more spacious and ordered a la carte. The Palak Paneer, Veg Biryani, yellow Dahl, and Malai Kofta was all delicious. By far my favorite "Indian" in the area. After trying a few Indian spots around Grand Central, Muna immediately stood out. Firstly, the quality of chicken is one to two levels above others. Second, the naan is not an afterthought but is actually really good, it's airy and not burnt. Their rice comes with cumin seeds and has a delicate flavor. The samosa actually seems baked and is not oily. One note is that their baseline is not spicy (subjective, yes), so I typically ask to add a little heat. My husband and I stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night. We were there around 8 p.m. and they were able to seat us right away. The wait staff were very attentive and kind. We were very pleased with the service. It is a small intimate setting with white linens on the table. It's a great spot for a date night, or just dinner with family or friends.
