This is a great after work spot for weary clinicians in need of a stiff drink. The service is always good, and there's a hospital employee happy hour. I wasn't terribly impressed by this place. We were there at like 9 on a Friday and the place was almost empty. The drinks are expensive and they only have a B rating. I probably wouldn't have even stayed if I wasn't with friends who wanted to stay there and I almost definitely won't be back. They do have a decent beer selection though. read more

Great bar/pub style place with surprisingly good food! Never a problem going there with a crowd, super friendly staff that actually interact with you. Burgers have always been tasty and filling, awesome fresh spinach quesadillas and great finger foods. Atmosphere is that of a classic small pub but cleaner and nicer people. What a great pub atmosphere in this place and they have some nice new TV's in there for watching games or whatever. It was not too loud even though I was there on a Friday night. I went for dinner and had the blackened porterhouse, which was on the specials on the menu that night and it was just excellent. This is a solid choice if you're in the neighborhood. I got the rueben and was really happy with it. It seemed like a pretty legit NYC deli sandwich. Fair Guinness, a bit warmer than I'm used to (and you can argue all day with people on the correct temp). The fries were good and the burger was delicious, but I hate to say, I got sick from my visit. It could have been coincidence, but I'm very conscious of sanitation and don't often get sick. The hospital bar, this is the 1st bar you encounter heading west on 70th St. Upon entering you walk in to the pub, a long wood bar with tables that surround it. There is a larger restaurant in the back of the space. The bar/restaurant is mainly staffed by friendly attractive young women. There are multiple beers on tap mostly the standard NYC beers with a couple seasonal offerings and sometimes a few stronger brews (Belgian). Multiple TV's including a nice HUGE one upgraded during the Giants last SB. The have house music and one of those internet juke boxes, so there is a good variety of music. The food is fresh and more on the bar grill side of pub fare. The regulars are folks from the neighbor hood and the hospital employees, with a nice mix of people of visiting ppl at the hospital which creates a nice crossroads. There is a dart board at the front of the bar which can be used if no-one is sitting there. The bar does have house darts for use or you can bring your own. A small two person patio in front where you can eat or drink if you snatch up the table. The bartenders are all friendly and personable if you stop by a couple times you will be remembered, pours are strong. The main issue here are the bar stools, they don't seemed sized well for the bar... you wind up sitting high compared to the bar, I would describe it as feeling like you're on a perch it's kind of odd, but at least they have backs on them. It's fine. I work across the street and I've ended up here for happy hour a couple times. They have TVs but it's crowded when there's something worth watching. The happy hour specials are cheap but the other drinks are a little steep for a casual neighborhood bar. Service is a bit slow. Cute place! Service was good and the staff was very friendly. I had the Virginia Ham monte cristo. Ham and turkey were very lean which was great. It was served on toast so not a traditional monte cristo but tasty just the same! My mom had the Reuben, which she enjoyed. The corned beef was also very lean with no fat. I love this place, the bartenders are amazing and make an effort to know the locals by their names. I have eaten dinner here twice and I'm always pleased with what I order. The prices here are also reasonable which is always a plus. My friends and I wanted to watch the playoff game at local neighborhood bar and we came to Murphy's Law ( where one of our friends in our party had been to many times). During our 4 hour stay, we had POOR service. The young waitress was extremely flustered, short tempered and annoyed. And it was not like she was swamped with tables; they were only three other parties eating. Many times, we would glance over and see her on her cell phone. The food was below average - The wings were ok. If you like dry rub wings, order the wings. They just add Tabasco sauce to increase the heat in taste. The portion size were good. The soup was AWFUL. We would not recommended it. Beer choices were limited. If you want a bar that has a selection, you want to pass on M.L. $$- CHECK YOUR BILL AND REMEMBER WHAT YOU ORDER! We noticed an added gratuity that the waitress did not inform us about. The menu stated they add a 20 percent with parties 8 or more, but we were only a party of 5 (4 adults and one kid under 10). When we asked her why she added it, her response was because the bill was high, they add 20percent gratuity. WHAT??!! We were shocked! Our bill was only $187, in which in NYC, that's not a lot of money at a restaurant! If that was the case, then first you need to inform your customers of you adding it to the bill and second, post that method somewhere in the bar or on the menu. Came across this welcoming pub during a difficult day when a loved one was at MSK. We were looking for a place that was televising Ohio State FB . Made a wrong turn and landed at Murphy's Law. Best wrong turn ever. Food was fresh and delicious! Service was awesome. We sat in the DR. The lovely lady that waited on us was very accommodating. I had three family members visiting from Ireland this past week who were staying across the street from Murphy's Law, leading us to stop in twice for lunch and drinks. Each time the welcome was warm, the food and drinks were great and the experience was brilliant! I would like to especially acknowledge our waitress Aisling and our bartender Grainne who made us feel very much at home with their kindness.
