Aw yeah, MUSASHI!!! If you want Asian food that's more upscale than tsunami, come here! They're a hibachi type place so they've got your standard grilled veggies, shrimp, steak and the like. I have come here to celebrate many birthdays as it's one of the only nicer Asian restaurants in the area. My favorite thing about Musashi is that they bring a whole big bottle of shrimp sauce to your table so you can drench your food in it. It's a little pricey but worth it and the staff is always super quick and nice. I love this place and crave it on the reg! read more

I've visited Musashi for a few times over the past couple years. Their hibachi lunch is decent. However, their sushi is very mediocre. I wouldn't recommend them for the sushi, but if you would like a quick filling lunch, you can visit them for their hibachi. The ambience is nice and dark. This restaurant has potential if they can address a few issues (primarily a few critical menu items). The service and owner were very nice, but the ambience was mediocre, there was an unpleasant smoke from the food prep area, and the food was rather spotty. The highlight of our meal was three gentlemen at the next table singing quietly for a little while. Here's the most important part: the food! The sushi menu was quite basic, although the California Roll was pretty good. The ginger dressing on the salad was overly sweet instead of sharp. The egg rolls were...bleh. Hibachi Steak and Hibachi Scallops were pretty good. Pad Thai Chicken was inedible (tasted smokey and very salty). Fried rice had no added vegetables, just added grease. If you want a particular kind of rice, be sure to ask for it, because they don't always ask and you may get surprised. read more

I wish I could leave a legit review on the food here because any time I've eaten here it's been pretty good, but today I couldn't even get through to do so.. For the first 30 minutes, I called and got a busy signal-which is fine, I figured lunch time on a Friday would be busy- but then, eventually it started ringing and ringing (and ringing, and ringing) until an answering machine came in and told me that their hours had changed and they're closed on Sundays (again, good thing it's Friday afternoon ). Had my co-worker calll back several times and never did get an answer. Went to this restaurant looking for a good Japanese place. Let down is putting it politely. The food is WAY over priced, and the actual entree left a lot to be desired. Supposedly it is Hibachi style, however, it tasted like they went down the road and grabbed some food off of a buffet line and brought it out. You would be better off going to Tsunami Buffet (they have an actual Hibachi chef and a made to order sushi bar all included in the buffet price) or Minoda's - a true Japanese steakhouse where they cook in front of you! read more

Good sushi bar. Some of the hibachi items are not that great. Teriyaki chicken kind of dry and bland. Sushi is quite good. The guy knows what he is doing. We always sit at the sushi bar and he is very friendly and attentive and gives you the good stuff if you ask for it. read more

Just got back from dinner there tonight. Good Japanese stir fry. Wish they would replace zucchini with broccoli or cabbage. Rice comes with the dish and is good, your choice of meat or shrimp or scallops, stir fried with onions and mushrooms, then zucchini. You can see the cooks behind glass as they cook on the grill and that is nice. read more

There is nothing Musashi can compare to the other Japanese restaurant in this area; low quality, rude manager, and bad atmosphere. Save your money and go try somewhere else. The sashimi dinner was not fresh at all, and the hibachi was terrible. Even Tsunami has better hibachi and sushi that cook to order. However, we like our waitress because she is really friendly and attentive, we will give them another visit when they were not that busy, and hopefully the foods would be better. read more

This restaurant has potential, considering he lack of alternatives for decent sushi in the area. The fish is fresh and the sushi/sashimi cuts are generous - which really is the most important aspect of going out for sushi in my opinion - so if you just are craving decent sushi, this place will scratch that itch. Had to lower my review based on service and atmospere. The space seems cramped, tables are so tight together it may as well be one big picnic bench. And the smoke from the hibachi wafts over the whole restaurant, so whether or not you eat off the grill, you will leave smelling like you had. And the service is pretty bad - it is apparent servers are not trained in customer service. My server got my order wrong, but was nowehere in sight to complain, so I accepted what the sushi chef handed me over the counter. Soup and salad that were to come with the meal were forgotten altogeher until I reminded them, so I ate (some of) it after my meal. The salad was simply chopped Iceberg with watery ginger dressing, and teh soup was nothing more than onion soup mix broth. And after I pointed out I had gotten the wrong meal I received no explanation, no aologies, no amends. So overall, the sushi is good - but next time I will take them up on their take out option. read more

We really love the food here, the hibachi is delicious and their sushi tastes fresh (and I don't usually eat sushi). The dinner is a bit pricey so we usually go for lunch but it's definitely one of our favorite places. We always get great customer service and the food is always up right away. read more

I love Japanese cuisine, even though I don't particularly care for sushi. We had hibachi dinner menu items and they weren't very good, at all. They were really overpriced, too. My steak, even though I asked for it to be well done, was burnt to a crisp. They chop it up very small hibachi style, so this was extremely hard to eat. Not the average char on the outside of a full sized steak. At any other hibachi style restaurant that I've gone to in the past, well done just means no pink, and I've always been pleased. My fellow diner had yakisoba and it was extremely greasy. We completely understand that it is basically noodles and veggies fried in oil, but they tasted purely like grease. I know this restaurant is beloved by the locals and that's great, I just won't be going back. read more

Horrible ... worst food ever. Ordered "Pad Thai" and got egg noodles with bland beef and cabbage tossed in pepper and garlic? Definitely not Pad Thai - no peanut sauce, peanuts, egg or cilantro. I absolutely love this place! I would say I'm a regular and go there about once a week when I'm home from college. They are ALWAYS very fast and the service is consistently great! Their ranch is incredible and the hibachi chicken is hands down the best I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend. read more

For the good part, our service was good, our waitress was very friendly. Also the Miso soup was pretty good as well. My fiance and I just moved to this area from Kauai, Hawaii. We always ate lots of Japanese sushi and raw fish. This restaurant is not Japanese sushi, this restaurant would not even survive in Hawaii as a sushi restaurant. I've heard from many of the locals here that they like this place because its good sushi and reasonably priced. I now believe that they have never had real Japanese sushi or even good sushi. We got the Sushi Deluxe, that comes with a soup and salad, tuna roll and 10 pieces of sushi. The salad, was iceberg lettuce with thin slices of carrots and a whole lot of ginger dressing. The miso soup; was good. The Tuna roll was the smallest sushi roll I've ever seen in my entire life, it was nickle sized roll, and no vegetables just tuna and rice wrapped in seaweed. The crab sushi was imitation crab not even real crab, the salmon sushi was disgusting, I cringed when I ate it and had to take a gulp of my drink that's how bad it was, it was so fatty. I don't know why we continued to eat at this point but we also had the shrimp sushi, which was more than likely frozen farmed shrimp, no flavor. We also had the Tako (octopus) sushi, and that was also flavorless. The eel sushi was the only okay one, because it was slightly fried and had a extra sauce. This is the worst sushi I've ever had in my life, my Fiance was born and raised on Kauai, Hi and he doesn't think he will ever want to eat sushi in the area again. Basically the service was great but the sushi sucked. This in my experience based on my visit on 7/24/2014, I will never return nor recommend this place. Went here for lunch today with 3 coworkers. They ordered sushi, I ordered Steak Hibachi, medium rare on the steak. Their food came out and the waitress said mine was coming up soon. Well I waited and waited, no waitress, no food. Finally when the rest of my table was finished eating my food comes out. By then its time to return to work and on top of that the steak is well done. This place is the worst. The service, the food, the staff, management, everything! I have lived in the area for several years and have had nothing but bad experiences with this place. On one instance I went out to eat with my parents who were visiting from out of town. When we arrived the place was maybe half full. We waited up front to be seated for at least 10 minutes before we were acknowledged when we finally were it was by a short Asian guy who looked at us and mumbled something I couldn't understand and then walked away. Another 10 minutes goes by and we are finally shown to a table. We ordered our food from the same guy who mumbled to us earlier and he was very rude. When our food finally came out mine was cold, my mom's was wrong and my dad's had a big hair in it. It took us almost 10 minutes to get someone's attention to let them know. The manager come to our table, i explained my order was wrong and all he said was "that's the way it supposed to be", I told him my dad's meal had a hair in it and he said he would get us another one but it would take time. At this point we had been in the restaurant nearly 2 hours and hadn't even started eating yet. Another 15 minutes goes by my dad's new plate finally came out but nothing was done about mine or my mothers. It was was the worst chicken I had ever had, my mother didn't even eat because she lost her appetite from the hair and my father ate 2 bites of his steak before spitting it out and saying it was the toughest steak he had ever had. We got our check and were obviously charged full price since our food was so great and nothing went wrong. Needless to say this is not the restaurant to go to unless you're looking for horrible food, lousy service,and management who does not care and has no clue what it takes to run a successful restaurant. read more

I love this restaurant, but, the last 3 times I have eaten here at lunch time, the food portions have SIGNIFICANTLY decreased and the cost of lunch was a little pricey. 3 plates of hibachi filet and shrimp was $39 and some change. This was without drinks or anything extra. The price was way too much for lunch, especially for the portion sizes of everything. I have been very disappointed lately. It also took 35 minutes for them to prepare my food after I was told to be there in 15 minutes. I still love the food and the service and will continue to eat dinner there. read more

I have never had a bad meal here and my family and I eat there a lot. My kids even like eating here. Although the sushi rolls are on the smaller side they taste great! Some nights they get really busy and the service might be a bit slow but hey you are out to enjoy the company you are with right so sit talk and relax it is worth the wait! read more

Due to our jobs, we had to relocate to NC from California a few weeks back. Our favorite food to eat is sushi. This place was highly recommended on several occasions, so we decided to try it out. The restaurant itself looked promising. We always order the same thing; tempura, miso soup, seaweed salad and 3 rolls to share. This is how we compare; our base line. They were out of miso soup, really! We got our tempura shrimp and veggies; the first red flag. Obviously the oil was not hot enough as the tempura came dripping in oil. The seaweed salad was missing something, did not taste right. The selection of rolls, well...just about everything was 'blank' over California roll. We ordered the only soft shell crab roll they offer, the spider roll and something else. The crab roll had no taste, the other two came out with the raw fish warm to the touch! I went to whom I thought was the owner and let her know of the fish, she argued that they refrigerate the fish. I suggested she touch my food, but she refused. We paid and walked out. We did not want to risk getting sick. We left. We keep being told that we do not find good food in NC because we come from CA, as if we are spoiled! Our response is, people in NC also deserve to eat good food. Shame on this restaurant owner, they are a dishonor to their cuisine! read more

My boyfriend and I are visiting the area on vacation and decided we wanted some Asian cuisine for dinner. We wanted to visit the local Thai restaurant, but for some reason it was closed, so we drove down the road instead of Musashi. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our server came over quickly and took our drink order and made sure to ask if we needed sushi menus, which I did. My boyfriend ordered a hibachi dish and a tempura vegetable appetizer, and I ordered several sushi rolls and some individual pieces as well. The server was kind enough to suggest that I order the 3 roll special, which includes 3 sushi rolls of your choice, soup and salad, which I appreciated. She brought our soups, salad and appetizer quickly, and our main dishes also came out really fast. My boyfriend loved his hibachi, but said he would get plain white rice next time because the fried rice didn't have anything in it really... no eggs or veggies. My sushi was excellent, and I especially liked the spicy tuna roll that I got. Our server was especially kind and made our dinner experience that much better. read more
