We live in town so we don't get out to Kapolei much but I've been hearing more and more about great restaurants out here so I really need to make more plans to get out to the west side! I checked out this Yelp page to see what people were recommending and after a bunch of favorable reviews I ended up getting the blue crab eggs benedict with the truffle home fries and a side of malasada pancakes with custard sauce (to share, I promise!) The food here is GREAT. The eggs benedict did indeed come with a really generous portion of hollandaise sauce and it was actually based with a thick French bread toast instead of the usual english muffin which made it much easier to cut in a takeout box (yes, I really should transfer food to a plate like civilized people, but DISHES, you know?) Home fries were tasty and if they were hot and crispy would've really been spectacular, which is the only caveat about takeout food. I should've crisped these up in the air fryer, but...you know... Now to the pièce de résistance...those MALASADA PANCAKES! Yuhhhhh...! Get these. Don't second-guess yourself. Just get them. Get in your car, drive down there, and get these. No joke. Amazing food, especially the flight of pancakes. I like that it's not just the sauce on top that is different but the pancake themselves are different. For example the taro sauce is over the chocolate pancakes. We came two days in a row. Both days had to wait around 40minutes. We came around 9am. This is our go to place for breakfast on the West side. We are always pleasantly greeted by the staff and the team as we enter and thanked as we leave. It always nice to know they appreciate our business. Getting back to the food. They have quite an extensive menu. Some things like breakfast plates which include pastele or chorizo sausage, furikake panko crusted fried spam and a keiki menu. Oh, even a flight of pancakes (buttah luva, chocolate taro and lilikoi(passion fruit). Our favorite is chocolate taro haupia pancakes and kamaaina fried rice. The servings are large enough that we share. There are two large pancake to a order. Our chocolate pancakes were smothered with the most delicious taro haupia sauce. The pancakes are always most and tender with a rich chocolate flavor. Our kamaaina fried rice is loaded with the local favorites, spam and Portuguese sausage. Seasoned perfectly and topped off with egg, however you like it. Go early as the seating area seats approximately 30 people. It's not uncommon to be placed on a waitlist if arriving after 8a.m. They do offer paper menus or you can order off their Cooly designed chalkboard like menu. Way cool. Parking can be challenging as there are other businesses in the same building. But it's worth the hunt and wait. Finding this place is not hard, but it's very hard to decide what you want to eat. Excellent in all areas. The food is amazing! My second time there as I live in California. This time around we ordered the traditional loco moco with a homemade hamburger Patty although I was tempted to try the katsu. Maybe next time. The sautéed onions and mushrooms are an amazing touch. Only tiny critique is I wish it wasn't so expensive to upgrade to a fried rice option. Other than that, it's delicious. We also ordered the malasada pancakes. OMG! Looking to start the day off with breakfast before a road trip around the island, I stopped at My Cafe. There are a few businesses around sharing the same lot so parking was competitive. I checked in at a stand outside, and had a short wait before one of the six tables inside was available. They do enforce and one hour limit on the tables, which starts once the order comes out. Food came out shortly after it was ordered. So many good options on the menu. I finally decided on the Kama'aina scramble, which has bacon, ham, Portuguese sausage, spam, sprouts, onions, & cheese. For a side you can choose potatoes (home fries style), two scoops of white or brown rice, or white or wheat toast. I chose the brown rice. The meal was pretty filling with all the protein and rice. All of the meat is chopped up pretty fine and some of them are very close to each other. Overall happy with the selection and would recommend. read more

We were excited to try this place after seeing some videos on social media. Will not be back. The staff seemed so confused and we were seated and waited about 7 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. The place is not large at all maybe 8 tables but the 4 girls seemed lost of who is doing what. There were 3 of us at about 12 noon and ordered 3 different items - 2 of which had to be actually cooked and 1 sandwich with a salad. The table next to us came in about 10 minutes after us. And they got their Cooked food and a sandwich with salad Before us which was strange. We got the two cooked plates. Thought the waitress was going back to get the sandwich - nope. With 3 of us sitting there and you only bringing over 2 plate's doesn't make you think. Oh where is the other food? Nope. We wait and wait over 5 minutes to get someone's attention. And then I ask about the missing sandwich. She looks at the other table and was like oh let me check. Oh I knew right then our other Sandwich was given to the wrong table. We wait and wait. She doesn't come back to say anything either. Comes back like 5 minutes later and says oh sorry the kitchen was behind. The sandwich was rather dry like the sauce or dressing was missing and the bacon was chopped up Bits. Yes bacon bits. Very disappointed in the sandwich itself. Maybe they ran out of whole bacon pieces? Not sure didn't expect such small bacon pieces instead of the actual bacon strip. They should say that on the menu because you are expecting actual bacon strips. No you gave it to the other table. Cause how can you miss it on our ticket when we all ordered together. I love to order one of their pancake flights for the table to share as a "breakfast dessert". They also serve lunch all-day and their furikake salmon is one of my favorites! Back to breakfast foods, the lox bagel is top notch (it's the sprouts for me) and you can also choose between cured and smoked salmon. They also have a Lox Benedict that I'm obsessed with- you can get EXTRA hollandaise for $2. The prices here are on the expensive side but the portions are pretty large and can be considered "on par" with hyped up brunch spots. I drove about 5 minutes to Kapolei Aquatic Center to eat them. They didn't taste bad but they didn't really have a depth of flavor I was hoping for - it was just hot. I like hot, so that isn't it. The tomatoes were nice and juicy, and very fresh. The avocado was similarly just the right texture and very fresh. But in my opinion there was not enough onion, cilantro, or sour cream in addition to the sort of flat profile of the overall flavor. With the addition of the kalua pig and a small tip the total was around $23. For that amount of money I wouldn't be getting this again. Maybe a bene or specialty pancakes next time. read more

I had this breakfast joint called - "My Cafe" bookmarked for the longest time, and today was the day I finally made my way to Kapolei to try some of the breakfast grub @ My Cafe. Located just across the street from the KFC area (look toward da ocean, or Makai), and you will see a complex building where your will see some businesses like Jamba Juice & Thai Lao, as the My Cafe restaurant is sandwiched between Jamba Juice & Thai Lao. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only 5 tables are currently being used (note, the restaurant is small). How it works - I came here with a few of my friends, and upon arriving at the restaurant around 8:15 AM, I walk up to the entrance area and placed my - name, cwl. phone number, and party size with a girl by the entrance of the restaurant. I was told that the wait time was approximately 1 hour to get a table, although the actual wait time wasn't too long, as I actually got called/text within 45 minutes. TIP!!!! While waiting for a table, if you decide to cruise da Kapolei Mall area.................PLEASE NOTE: Once My Cafe text/pages you that your table is ready, you must show up to the restaurant within 9 minutes, otherwise they will give away your table to the next group waiting, NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Before entering the restaurant, we had to fill our a questionnaire, about the folks in the party, then we were told to go to the marked station where our table was (we got table #5). Upon getting seated, we scanned the QR code that was posted on our table with our smart phones to see the menu. If you don't have a smart phone, no need to worry, as they did post the laminated menus to the plastic dividers by our table. We ordered the following items - 1. Flight of Pancakes ($13.95) - Mini style, Cookie Butta Luva, Chocolate Taro-Haupia, & Lilikoi Pancakes. 2. Breakfast Bagel Sandwich ($7.95) - comes with Tomato, Spinach, Egg, Basil Mayo, & Jack Cheese. 3. Chicken Katsu Loco Moco with Eggs over-easy ($13.95). Consistently yummy food. My usual is the country fried steak n eggs. I love to add an order of fried rice to share and take home for the next day. I just love how they have a good variety of the usual breakfast foods with some extra sweet treats like the pancake flight. They serve coffee out of mismatched ceramic mugs. Don't worry if your date got a bigger cup than you because they are always coming around to refill your coffee. I wish this place was bigger but I also don't because they constantly are turning out their food in a timely manner. Any bigger and I can see the service slowing down. My second morning in Hawaii I was looking for another good breakfast spot so I went with the 2nd highest rated place nearby and My Cafe was it. So, I love Loco Moco and that's what I was going in for but while delicious it sits heavy and I called an audible once I got seated for something lighter: the breakfast fried rice. My plans for a lighter breakfast came to a halt when I saw their pancakes and they offered a 'flight' of pancakes: smaller servings of their Lilikoi, Cookie Butta and Chocolate Taro-Haupia. If this was just for the pancakes this would be a 5 star review. The Lilikoi alone was slightly tart, slightly sweet, airy but dense. I liked the Chocolate Taro-Haupia the least but that's by a very narrow margin and that Cookie Butta straddled that border of sweet and savory. However, the breakfast fried rice was really disappointing. Supposedly, it had spam, bacon Portuguese sausage AND ham but aside from some pieces of Spam and the crunch of the bacon I didn't get much else from it. I had a brunch of fun dining at My Cafe! This place has been on my brunch bookmark for what seemed like an eternity! What drew me in was their delicious-looking pancakes. What turned me off was the fact that I'm not the biggest brunch eater and they're located on the west side. Although I can only speak for the pancakes--it was worth the time and dealing with the weekend brunch crowd! I came to My Cafe with my friend and her family. She lives on the west side and this is one of her go-to places. We decided to meet mid-morning and were met with a short wait time. The restaurant told us it was a 40-50 minute wait when in reality it only took about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't take reservations so come early to avoid it. After waiting, we were called by the hostess and brought inside. The inside of the restaurant is very small and homey--only seating six tables. Diners are allowed to eat for an hour so they can have a quick turnover. Service throughout our meal was quick, efficient, and attentive. My friend recommended the pancakes which I've been dying to try! Her favorite is the Chocolate Taro Haupia which she ordered while her family ordered the Adobo Fried Rice. I got the Flight of Pancakes with no whipped cream which I thought was the perfect way to sample everything. The flight came with three mini-sized pancakes (two pancakes per each flavor) which included their: Cookie Butta Luva, Lilikoi, and Chocolate Taro Haupia. Out of the three the Lilikoi was my favorite since it wasn't overly sweet and a tad tart. Each pancake was decadently sweet--the sweetest being the cookie butter. As other Yelpers said, I agree that the quality of the pancake tastes like your typical pancake mix. The cookie butter tasted like straight-up sugary cookie butter with cookie crumbs on top. The taro haupia came on chocolate chip pancakes smothered in taro sauce and topped with shredded coconut. The lilikoi was simple as it came with lilikoi sauce. My friends enjoyed their dishes and we all had to take our leftovers home as the portions were ginormous. Along with their sweet pancakes, waffles, and french toast, they also offer breakfast plates, egg dishes, local-style dishes, and Latinx dishes. They truly offer a wide variety that's perfect to please all palettes! I'm glad to have tried the pancakes but it's a dish where once is enough since it was a bit too sweet for my liking. My Cafe is a cozy brunch spot serving up hearty breakfast foods on the west side. The restaurant is located in a shared shopping center with free parking in the center's lot. First bite, disappointment. It tasted like a frozen chicken fried steak with a homemade sauce. The potato's were slightly over cooked, but were okay with the gravy on it. The eggs were eggs. Overall I think my friend hyped it up too much. My cousin and I both were left underwhelmed by the food. The price to quality for me wasn't there. We are out on our vacation adventures on Oahu. We stopped in this venue because of the 4.5 star rating in search. For brunch we had pancakes, Belgian waffle bacon, potatoes eggs sunny side up and over medium. The food was good. Service was "ok". I felt a little rushed after the meal while I was having coffee and taking in the atmosphere. I personally found it odd they still use clear partitions that really have been proven to do nothing for the spread of viruses. And made me feel closed in. Very enjoyable modern breakfast stop located on leeward side where Makakilo meets Kapolei. Surprisingly diverse selection of brekky and brunch dishes, made doubly delicious by their offering the entire menu the entire day! This was much appreciated as there are not many places one can get a salad for breakfast.... and even fewer places that offer this quality of freshness. Staff is very friendly. Loved the mural depicting the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit! Should bring the Sunday school class here! My dining companion was intrigued by the 15+ themes and variations on the humble Eggs Benedict so they ordered the Benedict with fresh asparagus and blue crab (the door porter recommended it). I ordered grilled chicken Caesar salad. Everything was amazingly fresh and ono from first forkful to last mopping up of the plate with fresh baked sourdough bread! Expectation Management for future patrons: there is usually a wait list and you're notified via text when your table is ready. No more than 5 per table. Masks required except when eating. Restrooms are located 200m away and up to the top floor of the adjoining office complex (access code required). Finally made it to this place only after 6-7 years lol! When in the West side, this will be my fave breakfast/brunch place. They don't take reservations so be ready to wait! They will call you though. So that's a nice thing they do. I had the Lilikoi Waffle. The lilikoi topping was yummy! I was expecting it to be super sweet but surprisingly it wasn't! I just wish the waffle was a bit more crispy. I also had the Lox Benedict. The salmon was meaty and tender. Very flavorful. My husband had the Chicken Avocado Omelet. The omelet was HUGE with a generous amount of avocado. He also had a side order of Biscuits and Gravy, which he said it was okay. Service was great at the start. Hostess seated us right away and brought us water shortly with menus. Server came about 7 mins later. Food was amazing! We got the flight of pancakes, country fried steak, and uncles smoke meat. The only downside wad trying to get attention after food was served. You're kinda forgotten or it's "wait for your server vibe". I was able to get the Hostess attention for container and she gave us our ticket for payment. We waited a awhile before trying to flag someone down. I caught back of house waitress ( I'm assuming she waited the table towards the sat side since we sat more towards the front) while she was drinking water. We made eye contact. Then she just ignored me. Benefit of the doubt. She handed a water to kitchen staff. Checked on her tables. Came back to the main area and just stood there. Hostess is busting out drinks and our server just got 2 new parties sat. She was able to do 4 rounds on her tables and hang out. Then it took the Hostess telling her to get our payment.
