This saddens me to make this review but this is the fourth time that my food has been expired that I've bought from the basket. I returned bacon last month that's expired in February. This time it's the bread bites. It's May 17th these bread bites expired in February(they were $8). The meat is super sketchy I bought hamburger meat a few weeks ago and it was already damn brown. Half was not and the other half was brown prior to me cooking it. I really was their number one fan but I've been going there religiously since I moved to Spokane and I'm now finding it's really not that fresh. I'm okay with buying perishables there just for convenience, bakery stuff and coffee but the meat I would not buy here unless it was packaged that day and make sure to ALWAYS check the dates of expiration. read more

More of a service issue- i was charged $16 for a poke bowl that consisted mostly of rice. At the register, I was told that there were clear instructions posted at the Poke station though I couldn't see any. I wasn't given the option to decline the purchase but rather was told that I had made a mistake and had to buy that bowl which probably wasn't worth more than 8$. Constructive feedback here: if you're going to require that people purchase the fish and rice separately, don't put the wide bowl as a plate option! Pretty bummed this place didn't turn out better, though it has potential should the service be improved. read more

Pretty cool store! Very similar to metro market or Whole Foods, has that quality and almost boujee vibe but nonetheless a cool place. They have everything from deli, to sushi, to exotic fruits. It is pretty expensive as far as daily grocery shopping goes, but if you just want to go for lunch or a treat this place is right for you! My Fresh Basket has officially lost its edge. I used to adore going in here to find the best produce, fresh bakery treats, and a vast deli case. I thought it was the best store in town. Now, I think MFB is on the same level as Safeway. The produce price is significantly higher than competitors but is not fresher. The sprouts looked grey and sad in the case by the flowers. But that's typical these days at MFB. The deli case is completely shut down after idk 6:30 or 7? I wanted to buy a sandwich for lunch the next day. But what set me over the edge is the bakery case. The desserts do not look fresh. I swear I see the same piece of cake Monday as I do Friday. It tastes like it too. Today I bought a package of red velvet cookies at 7:00 pm. They were burnt, rock hard, and stale at the same time. And they were over $7. I couldn't believe they were "made that day." They had to be at least 4 days old. This is the most unfortunate 2 star review. Because the store is nice enough. But the obvious disregard for checkers is infuriating. Not having a SINGLE non self checkout line open is unacceptable. And this is not during odd hours. This is prime time. Imagine having to ring in 8 different produce codes yourself (when I know employees can rattle them off by heart). Or waiting for approval because you bought beer. The amount of time wasted on my end is 10 fold. And in all likelihood, it's an attempt to reduce overhead by paying less employees. Ok. But are the savings passed down to the customers? No. You'll pay more than most grocery stores. I've been going since the store was built, and back then I would've given 5 stars. The best part is the coffee selection. Bagged or bulk, lots of local options. Coffee grinder available. I like that I can find specialty products when I need them and customers can request items and the managers will try their best to order. As a former employee, my issue is the lack of care from the upper management. There is little care for employees and they treat people as disposable. There is no loyalty or kindness past the floor managers. This creates a huge turn around and irritable employees. Lack of training and overall systems made it difficult to do my job at times. My manager was amazing and so caring and dedicated. But above her, I felt the store wasn't being run properly. The owners of the store would hike up astronomical prices on affordable items like bottled cheap water. Ethically and morally wrong imo. I'm happy to support local businesses but this store would rather throw away perfectly good produce, donuts, kombucha, sushi, desserts, etc than give it to employees. I saw produce throw away boxes of ripe bananas and other fruit bc they were instructed to. Why not give it to employees who are paid minimum wage and cant even afford the food sold at the store? I tried to provide feedback and was ignored. After 2 years I quit. Yes some food is donated to food banks but all the fresh or baked goods are thrown away in the garbage. As a "neighborhood store" you'd think the owners would be more giving and say, "you can have these day old donuts that we would be throwing away". Employees would be so grateful and it would be less waste. read more

I work right next door to it so I find myself "accidentally" forgetting my lunch a few times a week so I can have an excuse to grab some from here! The salad bar is ahhhh-mazing, so many items to choose from. Bought seafood from here too that was great. Pretty much everything I've gotten from here rocks. The flowers are fresh, the staff are friendly and the food is delicious. They have a hot bar for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a salad bar, ready made salads, a deli, a bakery with delicious treats... and kombucha on tap!!! Holllaaarrrr!! Great wine selection. Just a few things I love about this place... The poke bar! I love the selection and fresh rice, and if there's no rice, someone is on it right away. The signature cookies in the bakery are amazing! Honestly everything that comes out of that bakery is delicious. Eva in the bakery is always there to answer questions with a smile on her face! She knows her stuff and that's refreshing because most stores don't have knowledgeable pastry chefs behind the counter. We also love the fresh glass bottles of chocolate milk. They have a great looking deli selection. However, their tamales are dry and flavorless. The masa is super dry because they keep the tamales in cold deli case. The stuffing that are in the tamales are plain and have no flavor and could definitely use a lot of help. At $3.99 per tamale, come on make it something to remember. Parking is poor because it shares the parking lot with another building and when it gets busy you can't find a spot and almost run over customers. Other than that, it try's to hard to compete with Metropolitan Market in the Seattle area and Huckleberry's Market on the South Hill. read more

I super enjoy more and more places being health conscious. The location is awesome too because I drive by to and from my work. They have stuff I love like Bragg's Liquid Aminos and kombucha and 4 for $5 avocados and fresh sushi. Then they have stuff that my husband loves like Doritos. Omg! It's about time Spokane got a nicer high end grocery that is fresh, with a wider selection of meat and seafood. Not quite the level of Whole Foods, but certainly a nice alternative to what we have here! They have a great salad and hot bar. The deserts in the bakery look amazing! I can't wait to try them. They have delicious ceviche. I tried the tuna poke not sure of the exact name but it had an Asian flare and sesame. So good and fresh! They have a great assortment of fish and rare meats like alligator and octopus. Very nicely laid out store with great options and lovely seating outside. The place is overpriced for ANY groceries. My biggest beef however is the hot bar food taste like garbage every single time we have tried it. The salad bar is great and I would go back for the salad bar, except for the fact you can't get the dressing on the side.. So if you get your $10 salad and don't finish it, it's ruined because you have to dump the dressing all over the top of it. It's fun to have a nice and new grocery store downtown Spokane, but don't be fooled by the new construction and fresh paint. When I first went in to My Fresh Basket, I was SO EXCITED! I heard it was like Whole Foods! Although I think it's a great step for the city of Spokane, it is NOT like Whole Foods. Their salad bar, lunch bar with hot foods, and cold case is not very healthy. It's a bunch of nasty looking food covered in sauces and grease. I was underwhelmed by the options and felt like there was nothing that healthy to grab and go. I ended up getting a salad which was fine, but cost me $12 for a bowl of lettuce and carrots basically. I love peperoncinis and was looking for an organic jar of them. "This is a healthy new store! Surely they have tons of organic options!" NOPE! Just your regular jar of peperoncinis available that is full of crap and yellow dye. We needed some organic spices... $10 for ORGANIC GARLIC POWDER! Seriously?! That is insanely expensive!! And they only have one option for that so you can't get a cheaper option! If you walk down all the aisles and the refrigerated sections you will find out that it's full of all the same unhealthy, processed shit that every other grocery store sells. Sure they have lots of kombucha options and organic produce, but I am pretty disappointed with this grocery store. I don't feel like it is different or better than any other stores we have. Huckleberries,Trader Joe's, and Fred Meyers health section have more options and are better than My Fresh Basket. read more

I love the layout of this store. Before you walk in, there is a large outside covered area where you can people watch or eat after grabbing something from inside the store. I found the store bright, airy, very attractive layout. Very much reminds me of a store like this but in Seattle or Portland. I would describe it kind of as a cross between Huckleberries and Trader Joe's. Store was heavy on organics of course. I found the selection generally quite good too. I thought prices were also generally competitive as well. They have a food bar, and a salad bad, as well as a food (bistro) to go option/area. I thought the parking lot was fairly large. There is up front parking available for handicapped too. I really like it, and will be back! read more

I typically enjoy shopping at this market and particularly enjoy the salads in the deli. Stopped there on 3/24 to do some shopping and while I was there went to a nearby business (2 doors away) to ask a question. I then shopped at the market spending over$70 on food. When I got back to my car there was a warning ticket that I was not to park there as I wasn't a customer. I called the number on the ticket because I certainly was. She advised me that I need to move my car to another spot on the street or the vendor parking lot and am not allowed to combine my shopping in the neighborhood. Didn't seem like a very community minded option and didn't make me want to shop there again. If it happened again there would be a fine. read more

Best looking grocery store I have ever been to. It has everything that a new fancy trendy grocery store should have. Tons of fresh produce, growler fill up station, kombucha on tap and lots of inside and outside seating to enjoy lunch on. It is located in Spokane's newest and trendiest neighborhood, Kendall Yards. What's not to like!? Everything is awesome, except the prices. Good golly everything is expensive. But you know you are paying for that great experience as well as the nourishment. This little gem hasn't been here long in Spokane but so far it's been great! They have a pretty good selection of natural foods that has a similar feel like a Whole Foods. It's easy to get lost and spend a good amount of time in their because it has a legit selection of variety of canned food, fresh food etc AND a nice buffet with salad, hot food, cold food, pastries, deli and probably more. I appreciate how clean they keep everything. I wish they had a bigger organic produce selection but am glad for what they do have. I can't say much about the groceries. This review is really about the coffee shop within. I LOVE Roast House coffee and how the management has run their shop here. Rhonda has done an amazing job. The prices are reasonable and the coffee tastes great. The seating could use some work upstairs though. Every time someone moves a chair it sounds like a cat was hit by a semi downshifting. I am in love with this store!!! This is a great addition to the City of Spokane!! They carry a lot of items that are hard to find the the area!! The seafood is fresh....you will find anything oysters to lobsters to octopus! In the meat selection, you will get anything from lamb to frog legs!! The product selection is the freshest I have seen in Spokane since we moved here a month ago. The vegan selection is amazing!!
