I love a good milkshake and can appreciate when they're made with quality ingredients. I try to have a milkshake at least once a week from different places, but most restaurants and fast food joints have all the same plain jane flavors like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Now I have found the place who is going outside the box. My Milkshake is the Bay Area's first milkshake bar and they are changing the way milkshakes are made, once you've been here you will never look at another milkshake the same. It's a cute store, very small with limited seating and the interior is white and baby blue. The menu and ordering process is displayed digitally on tv screens and they even display IG posts and some Yelp reviews. When you walk inside up to the register all you see behind the counter on the walls is tons and tons of candy and chocolate, makes you feel like a kid in a candy store. So the milkshake ordering process is done in 5 steps and they are: *Step 1: You pick your size, there are 4 different sizes -12 oz. $3.99 -16 oz. $5.50 -24 oz. $6.50 -16 0z. take home jar $7.99 (All sizes come with one free fruit mix-in) *Step 2: You pick your milk, either whole milk or almond milk *Step 3: Pick your ice cream type which are vanilla, chocolate, soy ice cream ($0.75) or vanilla froyo *Step 4:Pick your mix in Step 5: Pick your topping and syrups They also have their "Awesome Shakes" which are the shops own custom made varieties, there are 10 different ones and they are all named after super heroes or villains. While all shakes come with a free fruit mix in all other mix-ins such as candy, premium candy, cookies, cake and cheesecake are all an additional charge ranging from $0.99 to $2.00. The mix-ins is what makes the shakes really pricey, you may intentionally order a $3.00 shake then after mix-ins it may turn into a $7.00 shake smh. The strawberry shake with strawberries mixed in and strawberry syrup was amazing but what was even more amazing was the Red Velvet Cake and strawberry milkshake with strawberry syrup, there was pieces of cake and strawberry in every sip.Oh not only do they just sell shakes but they also do flavored fries and waffle fries but I have yet to try those out. I do love this place and the whole concept because the varieties are endless and you will never have a boring milkshake. If you're looking for a custom and unique shake then this is the place to go. While the shakes are awesome and service is ok, I only gave them 3 stars because it gets pricey so be prepared to pay more than usual!! read more

My boyfriend and I love this place - so much that he jokingly asks to come here every time we don't know where to go for a treat. He usually gets Spider-Man because of the ferrero rocher, and I change my options every time. The milkshakes are always thick, creamy, and done on time! I'm not sure that people realize that places like these are operating with limited staff during the pandemic. That's probably why so many reviews mention the slow pace of the restaurant. I'm happy to wait for something I would usually only get in a diner. Not to mention, these ones are more creative than your traditional three flavours. If I were to suggest some improvements, I would say to please figure out ways to make the drinks live up to their superhero namesakes. Keep up with what's going on in the DC/Marvel worlds and switch up the packaging and add some more colour accordingly! read more

I was really leaning towards two stars, but these guys here mean well. I went in with a large group of 7. It was pretty crowded and there were just a bunch of people waiting around but no one in line. So we got in line and ordered. They really should of thought of how things were arranged in this store, because you walk past the menu with all the choices, but then you get to the counter and you try and remember what you wanted, and you look back at the ball, but it's impossible to see if people are blocking the way. Basically, work on your memory. Like Steph F. said below, we waited about 45 minutes for our drinks and it was a damn mess. The guys were working hard but at one point, no drinks came out for like 10 minutes. You could see that people were getting testy. We finally got our drinks and they weren't even milk shake consistency. It was more like a smoothie? Kind of thin. I really like the idea of creating your own milkshake because you can never go wrong and it will always be perfect. This is what My milkshakes offers. You can select from their signature milkshakes or create your own. The problem with creating your own is that you might be requesting the exact same toppings that are already found in their signature milkshakes making your custom shake more expensive. So be careful when customizing. They have 4 different size cup including a mason jar. You have a huge variety of topping to choose from. For some this place is expensive but when you have money. I mean, maybe for those lactose intolerant like me, but you're safe here! For those that aren't lactose, they have regular milk, chocolate milk, vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream for your options! You can also add syrup but I'm not a syrup fan so I skipped out. I wouldn't say the customer service here is awful, per the other reviews, but it was average and nothing less than what I'd expect. My cashier was thoughtful enough to ask if I wanted whipped cream or not, which in my case, it was a no - so good thing she asked! We also got buffalo fries to share - cz if you've ever had fries and ice cream, its the best (drunk) combo ever. I think we should have went with non flavored fries cz the buffalo taste was quite strong and didn't mix well with my ferror rocher/vanilla ice cream/almond milk combo ha. Btw, my milkshake was delicious, well worth the calories (who currs, you only got on life to live!). I also liked how I got a full ferror rocher as a topping. For a place that has "milkshake" in their name it is shocking how astonishingly underwhelming their milkshakes are. Got their $10 "Stormm" milkshake which is peanut butter + bananas. At the bottom is a big ball of unblended peanut butter and overall the flavor for both the banana & peanut butter were barely even there. It was basically a super thick vanilla shake. I could instruct a 9 year old how to make this shake and tell them to use the exact measurements I give them for the peanut butter + banana. Visited this past Sunday after watching a show at the improv. I was so excited to try my milkshake and then when I got it I was so disappointed! It literally tasted like nothing. Not candy. Not banana. Not ice cream. Hell not even milk. It was weird! Just so plain. When I brought it up to the cashier she was so uninterested in trying to make it right. She told me I dunno what to tell you, there's nothing I can do. I asked for a refund she says oh no refunds. So then I asked if she could add more of the Heath bar and she says I'm not allowed to. I'm thinking wow the customer service here sucks. I will say she did end up making me another one, but when she handed it to me she said if you don't like it I don't know what to tell you, there's literally nothing I can do about it. This place is really fun. One of my students recommended it to me, and after explaining it to my seven year old son, he said we must visit. The two particular ladies who worked the counter today were especially nice and helpful, explaining how it works. Turns out it was simple, but I'm glad they explained it to us anyway. They need to be moved above and behind the counter. I ordered The Joker (strawberry, Nutella, almond mike and vanilla ice cream). A pretty chill and nice place to hang out in downtown area! I've been here twice and my visits have been great so far! It's kind of on and off here but for both time I've never seen the store too crowded or cramped. The store interior reminds me of a typical frozen yogurt place but the amazing is that they have a hugh shelf of any kind of sweets you can imagine to create your own milkshake (Although if they adopt some exotic Kitkat flavors that'd be a fantastic idea!) Their original combination of milkshakes sounds good and would not be too unordinary at all (Banana and peanut butter sounded awesome!). Besides you do have the option of creating your own milkshake, though the charge will be more for all the ingredients except the base milk as I remember. One thing that surprised me was that they only have 4 or so ice cream flavors, you would think a milkshake would have more options than that. Yum! This was literally the best milkshake I have ever had. I was blown away. I love milkshakes, but I am lactose intolerant, so it's kind of an issue. I was hoping that the fried carbs would line my stomach and help absorb the dairy intake. I don't know if that actually works, but I happen to also like fries, so it's a win-win. Heard about this place through some friends and through some Instagram pictures and the like, and clearly, that is a sign that I am missing out and becoming a decrepit, lonely recluse who lives under a rock and needs to get some sun. We're talking M&M's, we're talking Toblerone, we're talking Snickers, we're talking...Clif Bars?! I mean, they truly had it all, and I wasn't sure if they were just for the milkshakes or also for sale. My hunch is that they're for both. Going inside, the cashier was pretty nice and asked if my friend and I had been there before. We hadn't, and he told us to look at the five TV screens with convenient menu options and instructions. We could either build our own milkshake or select one that had been already concocted by the minds at My Milkshake. Sheepishly, I asked the crew there if I could order the 12 oz milkshake since the menu said it was technically a kid's size. They all laughed pretty hard and said of course. I probably was the only person in the history of My Milkshake to ask. It was pretty funny though, and I like the relaxed atmosphere inside; it seems like the people working there went to SJSU or something. Anyways, all the milkshakes are named after superheroes: SpiderMMan, BatMMan, etc. Get it? The MM stands for My Milkshake! I ultimately decided upon "MM Hulk", which is a failed and obvious attempt to insert "MM" into the name. Anyways, it was a milkshake with chocolate syrup, Andes mint chocolates, and Oreos! What a grand mixture. Upon ordering, they ask what kind of milk you want and also what kind of ice cream you want (vanilla or chocolate). I initially said chocolate, but one of the employees said, "Ohhhhh nooooooo," and shook his head. I then immediately switched to vanilla, because when you order something, you usually don't want to hear someone go "Ohhhhh nooooooo". It turned out that he definitely was right--chocolate with the chocolate toppings would have killed me. Overall, the 12 oz was a great size considering I don't have the sweetest of tooths in the world. I liked how blended the shake was, and the Andes mints actually provided a cool little minty fresh aftertaste. The consistency was OK; I found that it was a little less thick than, say, an In-N-Out shake, and thus I had to drink it pretty fast. The overall flavor was nice, but nothing all too crazy. I found that mostly they just blended ice cream, so it wasn't a crazy recipe or anything. The candy and Oreos really carried the milkshake. Overall, at the price--$4.99+tax--of the shake with the relative lack of crazy flavors gives this place a slightly lackluster grade for the food, but the atmosphere, service, and concept gets an A in my book. Note that this IS in downtown San Jose, so you'll have to do your homework on parking; you can park in a nearby garage for a price, or you can do metered parking (free after 6 P.M.). This review is extremely overdue as I've been coming to My Milkshake for as long as it's been open & have loved every milkshake that's been made for me here. For first-timers, they have boards up with instructions on how to order and also have options to select pre-formulated milkshakes (convenient for first-timers and vets alike) named after various comic book characters. I don't think I've ever actually ordered one of the milkshakes off of the menu. I tend to stick to a default combination of coffee, chocolate ice cream, & brownies (yes, at extra cost, but so worth it). The 12 oz. is a perfect size, especially since I usually head here after a meal. They have an incredibly wide selection of mix-ins to choose from, most of which are free (first mix-in is free, unless it's on the premium menu). You also get an optional drizzle of chocolate, strawberry, or caramel syrup & whipped cream if so you choose. They do have a menu of fried food items, but I have yet to order anything from it since as mentioned, I've usually already eaten by the time I get here. Also, the place is called My Milkshake, not My Milkshake and Fried Foods, so while I expect the milkshakes to be bomb.com, I wouldn't expect the same from the fried foods, so why mess with perfection in my experience with these guys? It's also fun to hang out there & watch the social media board flip through pics and tweets with friends - mostly because I always end up seeing myself or someone I know on it. I've brought in SO many people in to this place as first-timers & have yet to have one walk out disappointed. One thing to note is that I only come here when I happen to be in downtown San Jose for an event as parking is not the most convenient or cost effective thing if you're planning to JUST get a milkshake... but so worth it to stop in if you're already planning to be there, OR make it a point to spend your afternoon or evening downtown JUST so you can grab a milkshake! Pretty good investment since I find myself still using it time to time at home after I took off the sticker! I got the Spider-Man and it was really good! They asked me if I wanted Carmel drizzle at the bottom and edges of my jar and I said "sure might as well!!" Some milkshakes sound way too crazy to be true, you can literally put almost anything you want into your milkshake (candy bar, cheesecake, cake etc) They also have fries here (waffle, sweet potato, shoestring etc) and they can be topped with a seasoning. We got some curly fries with sour cream and onion seasoning. It was pretty expensive for just a small amount of fries, I believe a small was $5.
