We've lived in Newtown for two years and thought it was time to try out My Place. Umm...I don't think we were missing out on anything. Our caesar salad was okay (but anything would have tasted good after traveling all day). My penne with vodka sauce actually came out as rigatoni with vodka sauce. The pasta was overcooked and there was way too much sauce. My husband got a small pizza. Also just okay, and he said he wished he was at Carminuccio's. We definitely won't be going back. read more

My plate of angel hair pasta, dry roasted tomatoes and grilled chicken had one short hair in it. I got up went towards the kitchen and noticed the cooks were not wearing Caps or a hair net's. I spoke with the manager and expressed my disgust. I told him this violation is in his face and he should of corrected it. I refused another plate. My wife finished her plate. Upon leaving I noticed what I told the manager went in one ear and out the other. I will be making a complaint. RESTAURANT ETIQUETTE IS TO COMP ANOTHER PLATE OR SOMETHING OFF THE BILL. My Place is my go to for good pizza and good beer. As a self described pizza snob, their pies are the best in the area (outside of New Haven). Plus there beer list is fabulous and immense. My favorite thing to do is get a table in the bar area, order a margherita pizza and ponder the variety of beers on the board. read more

My feelings about this place are pretty much mutual to what the other reviewers are saying. The food is good, not expensive and a good beer selection. People at the bar are friendly and very welcoming. I like the bruschetta appetizer they have, the tomatoes taste fresh and the bread isn't soggy. I've never sat in the dining area so I can't speak for that but the bartenders are very knowledgeable and very nice. Portions are big so I always seem to have lunch for the next day which is wonderful. If you haven't been here I would definitely suggest giving it a try. read more

I have been meaning to go to My Place for over a year and I was not disappointed. The service was excellent; a server/manager named Sunny helped us out and she was great. The food was good, but since I'm a pizza snob being from New Haven, I can't say it was my favorite. The tiramisu was awesome and so was the antipasto salad. The reason why I wanted to go here for so long is the beer and I was pleasantly surprised to find Imperial Stout Trooper from NEB, Blue point Rastafarye, and Hitachino Red Rice on tap. The prices were very reasonable (3 beers, salad, a pizza, and dessert for under $40) so I will definitely be back soon! read more

Over the past few years I have been coming here every few months to have dinner with a very good friend. The last 3 dinners have gone from poor to terrible. I'm not sure what I was more dissatisfied with tonight. It could have been the waitress addressing me as buddy, ordering 4 different beers and the waitress returning each time to declare they were out of stock, the fake chicken cutlet served as Chicken Parmasean or the absolutely awfull coffee that was served. We are speculating the owners are either going out of business or they are not committed to the business. Either way my friend and I agreed we will not be returning. read more

I stopped for lunch yesterday. I ordered the chicken Cappone sandwich which is breaded chicken with Gorgonzola cheese and fresh spinach on a garlic roll. It sounded delicious. The chicken cutlet was fried to a hard crisp and was so overly salted that after several bites I put it aside. I told the waitress about the problem, but she gave no response. This was a $9 sandwich that was not edible. I won't be back. This is not My Place. read more

Met friends here for dinner. No wait for a table for 3. Always an interesting draft beer selection. Dinner menu did not list burgers, but we were able to order them anyway. All were delicious-served on pretzel buns. Onion rings were very good also. Service was good. No complaints except all to Boston Red Sox decor in the bathroom -LOL. read more

Beer taps is a 10 star. Awesome selection of great micro brews. Ive been here a bunch of times and the only dish I have not liked is the pasta... It was ack luster. Other than that food is tasty but a bit over prices for the portion size. Worth the stop for any beer dork like me. read more

We practically live here, between school events and softball we seem to always end up at my place. The owners and wait staff are very friendly. They get busy sometimes and it may take a little while to get dinner but they keep the drinks flowing. Makes for great conversation Great place to go with family and groups. read more

First time here but I will definitely be back! The cheese plate was fantastic and had lots of great accompaniments to the 4 different cheeses. I ordered the NY strip steak & requested gorgonzola on top & rather than just throwing the cheese on there, the chef created an amazing sauce with herbs, garlic, and gorgonzola which was incredible! My husband had buffalo wings which were spicy and meaty, and the Jamaican jerk duck which he said was great. Laurie, our waitress, was bubbly & sweet& provided great service. I have only been to My place twice, let me just say I've had a great experience both times. We held our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding a few weeks ago and they did a great job! The staff was great and so was the pizza! My favorite pizza was the Margherita pizza! It's very garlicky and the crust was nice and crisp and they added feta cheese to it which is awesome! My husband likes the famous " My Pie". Which has bacon, eggplant, broccoli and garlic with fresh tomatoes. That's pretty yummy too! We returned for the second time today, because I wanted the Margherita pizza again! Yes, it was that tasty! Great little pizza spot in a nice area. They have a cool patio too. Amazing and extensive beer selection in a friendly bar. A great place to sip a beer or watch a game. The Restaurant has good food. My favorite appetizer is the hot pretzel with spicy mustard. It is the best hot pretzel outside of Philadelphia. My favorite entree is the fish and chips. Huge portion of fresh fish. The Pizza is an excellent choice. The back room is a fun place to host sports team dinners. The staff is very accommodating and it's good on the parents wallets. read more

I've never written a negative review. However.... We used to get pizza at My Place regularly. It was tasty and substantial, and a rival to any other pie in town. Apparently, not anymore. I purchased a pie last night for the first time in months, and it was nothing like it was before. Thin, with very little sauce and cheese, not to mention lacking flavor. I wouldn't even be writing this negative review if it wasn't that we called to let them know we were disappointed, and were treated very rudely. I won't be back. read more

As someone who has lived in town for 26 years, I've been to My Place plenty of times... However, I always remembered it to be "ok" (specifically, from when I was in middle school, circa 2001-2002). Well, I've revisited a few times since then and (especially recently) I've been blown away by how good their food is. The calamari is always fried just right (and they also will bread and fry some cherry peppers in there, for those of you who like a little heat). Their clam pasta dinner is phenomenal. Their pizza is a bit generic for my taste (and it's not easy to compete with Carminuccio's down the street, which makes a much more authentic Connecticut style pie), but it is still very good. Also, can't complain about the prices (very reasonable for the area) and their beer selection is great. read more

Great for families with young kids, beer lovers, meat lovers, and vegetarians. Best family restaurant I have been to in years...seriously. I know that may sound overstated but it isn't. The owner saw my 2 year old daughter was crying and came over to give her a little gift. Then she saw I had a 5 year old daughter and gave her one too. They didn't make a peep after that. She also came over, found out my wife was a vegetarian, and made her a special meal that was great. My meal was a chicken club between oven baked pizza dough and was delicious. What can we say - we love My Place and have been calling it our home kitchen away from home since we moved here in 2003. Our kids have grown up there. The pizzas are great and I we all love different things on the menu. Louise, Mark and the rest of the My Place family are like your family. Or at least they seem like our family. Just came from having breakfast- disappointed. Ordered corned beef hash; could tell was from a can. Was tasteless. When I questioned owner Louise she said that it was from a can, that it was not marked on menu as being fresh made on premises and that they don't make corned beef so why would I think it would be fresh made. I said that if you go to restaurant for a fresh cooked meal you would think the food was made on sight- if I wanted canned corned beef I would have gone to Big Y and bought a can. So what about rest of their food? Do they make their own sauce or is that canned too? read more

Really terrible entrée tonight. Don't order the Mako shark nor sit in tap room and maybe you will have a better experience than me.
