Hire laborers to move you, they will be more professional & efficient than these folks. A serious HUGE disappointment. Move occurred on 10/16/20, we arrived back in town 10/19/20, was so upset I waited until 10/21/20 to send the below email - no response. 10/26/20 received an email that late fees were applied to my account, I respond by re-send the same email to the collections department. Apparently not reading the email the young lady calls me advising that the invoice that I signed for (never did sign or receive an invoice) were were for services rendered & if I did not pay they would be auctioning off my things. I advised her that they moved me, not stored me, & they would be auctioning off nothing as I again requested a member of management to contact me, still nothing. Email: (due to text limit see attached pics for entire email) First off, please let me start off by saying that I used your services in 2018 and was pleased enough with them to give you all a call for this move. To say the least, my experience this time around was extremely different from the first time. Time and Inventory When the movers arrived the items they had to move was exactly as I provided on my inventory list, plus maybe 20 extra boxes. However, the patio and dining set was left there and the movers did not move those pieces that I had provided on the inventory list. The movers were moving a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath 1,100 sq. ft. apartment located on the ground level, about 200 feet from the side door, which is where the truck was parked on the side of the road. I had my sister sitting outside with the truck for security, so the three movers could do their jobs without being concerned. Please note, I am extremely organized and had the boxes neatly stacked and smaller items gathered together so the movers could come right in and start moving. The only item that had to be disassembled and put back together was one king bed, nothing else required assembly. With all of this in mind, the movers took over FOUR hours to load the furniture onto the truck and leave the apartment. This is unacceptable! Damage The following items were damaged during the move, photos are attached for proof. I am in disbelief that some of these items were not addressed by the movers, especially the sectional! 1. Sectional - (a) BROKEN leg on sectional, it appears the wood foundation that the leg is mounted to is broken and the leg just caves in under the couch. (b) RIPPED back corner of sectional. Hopefully this can be REPAIRED, possibly replaced. 2. Master Bed - (a) The king headboard is damaged in the top right corner. It appears the headboard was hit and a chunk of wood was taken out of it. (b) The corners of drawers in the footboard were obviously hit on something and damaged. This must be REPAIRED, possibly replaced. 3. Master Bedroom Dresser Mirror - The screw was put too far into the mirror when mounting it, resulting in the chipping off a piece of the wood on the other side of the mirror. This will need to be REPAIRED. 4. Rolling Bar Cart - Apparently something heavy was sat on one side of the rolling bar cart, now it sits higher on one side and barely rolls. It will need to be REPLACED. 5. Flooring - When the broken sectional was placed on the wood floors in the living room of the new house, the sectional was left scraping the floor. This has left scratched in that one specifically area of the floor. This will need to be REPAIRED. 6. Walls - there are SCRATCHES on every wall up and down the stairs, especially on the landing, and damaged corners. The house was just painted before we moved in. This will need to be REPAIRED. Final Bill I never received a final bill or invoice for your services. The only communication that I have received from you all is emails and phone calls advising that the balance of $1,149 would not go through on my credit card. This is absolutely absurd, I have no idea what you are charging me for at all! Summary The combination of the issues above have left for a miserable moving experience. There is NO way that it should have taken 8 hours to complete this move. At the most I would say 5 hours, the locations are literally 2 miles from each other. Please, explain how my estimate went from $630 to $1,464 when there was actually LESS inventory for them to move? Needless to say, I will not be paying the balance for which I was billed. Considering the damage caused by your movers, I believe MyPorter actually owes me money. Without the damage I would have been happy to pay the remaining balance of $315 and would have considered a little more but needless to say that is no longer the case. I could have hired more professional laborers at The Home Depot to move me cheaper and faster.

    Solid cherry dresser top gouged

My Porter promised great things. Those included caring for my antiques and valuables. As soon as my furniture arrived, I knew that had been a gross mistake. My antique wood furniture was soaking wet, a 150 year old table split completely down the middle (despite my having requested special treatment for it), dresser scarred so deeply it required complete refinishing, piano's music rack broken off, trim piece broken off an antique linen chest, finial broken off my grandmother clock. And the boxes--which they don't cover under insurance if owner packed--were soaking wet, falling apart, contents spilling out, crushed. Don't they at least have to handle carefully and protect from rain??? Or is the insurance clause a carte blanche to rip it up? It sure seems so. They also ripped holes in my wall during move-out, so that I spent a day literally watching the paint dry while repairing it, instead of unpacking at my new place as I should have been doing. The crew seemed nice at first. They gave me a review to complete after the first day and I gave a good one, writing off the wall holes as an isolated incident. The second time on move-in day, when the damage to my possessions was obvious, they didn't give me review to compete. How shady is that? Then, just getting them to talk to me on the phone about repairs, about the amount they should pay to repair (which obviously does not restore anything to its original condition, no matter how well done), and the delays in getting reimbursed--so frustrating. They sure weren't hard to contact when I was shopping around for a mover. They wanted me to use their repair place which got 2 star horrible reviews. They did consent to use the one I chose but only after I stood my ground. See my Google review for more pictures of the damage. The soaked, crushed, destroyed boxes alone will convince you. To date, I am still waiting for full reimbursement.

How furniture was loaded from storage and arrived

My first experience with this company was exceptional! Employees arrived as scheduled, inventoried items, loaded items from my home, moved a portion of items to storage and a few items to new location. They set up and assembled beds and had incredible team work and energy. They were courteous and professional. A move out, move in and set up completed in less than 3 hours. Truly a fantastic experience! I referred My Porter to multiple real estate clients and friends after my experience in March 2018. I also arranged for monthly storage after multiple conversations and emails with John to determine size and cost before confirming. My possessions were in storage for 11 months until my scheduled move in February 2019. This move required items to be loaded from storage in addition to items from my temporary residence which I scheduled and confirmed with Jennifer when we finally spoke after multiple phone calls and receipt of automatic emails prior (over a week to have personal conversation). Incredibly frustrating! On day of scheduled move, I was given an arrival time of 10:00am and movers arrived at 11:30. After phone calls and emails to company, I received a call and explanation from John that i was given a window of 10-12. This was NOT the case. Nevertheless, movers arrived with a fully loaded truck and no room for remainder of items from temporary residence. Two movers, no space and a scheduled move within 3 miles of current location. Expected total move time = less than 3 hours. Upon arrival to new location, I saw how the truck was loaded and how my possessions had been mishandled, broken into pieces and several family estate pieces unrepairable. I contacted John and Robert immediately and received a return call within the hour asking me to note items for claims purposes. As the tenth hour of the 3 mile move of a 2bd/2ba condo approached and I asked movers to stack boxes so we could place the sofa, they shared there was no sofa. As they brought beds inside to assemble, there were no screws, bolts etc. I contacted John and Robert again and they responded that they would be arriving in person to oversee situation. They made a genuine effort to locate and deliver sofa, purchase screws, and assemble beds at 10:00pm that evening which I am extremely appreciative of their time and efforts. Unfortunately, I experienced the aftermath of internal operations issues, lack of communication when trying to schedule move and lack of follow thru after move, overall frustration due to complete lack of communication. And finally after multiple emails and phone calls re: claims (2+ weeks following ), I spoke with John to attempt resolution. In negotiation efforts on Johns behalf, he shared that the company had undercharged me for monthly storage fee--- I couldn't help but wonder why I'd been charged at all given the condition of items upon arrival and how they were stored. Wow! Just Wow! Yes, I've lost pieces of family history and incurred immense replacement expenses. To date, I have NOT received my antique dining room table base(broken into multiple pieces) or my daughters heirloom dollhouse (still missing). I have been charged twice in the final month for storage rental fee. I can only share my experience in efforts to encourage consumers to do their homework. While I appreciate the sophisticated tech/user-friendly platforms offered by My Porter, I can not, in good faith, recommend or refer any company or service that lacks critical customer service and status quo " forgotten" communication skills. I love supporting new businesses. This one has some growing pains. Hope this feedback may be received as helpful

From the moment they arrived, they got right to work and did not waste a single minute. I was honestly impressed by how quickly they packed/moved everything while still being careful with my furniture & boxes. As a busy nurse who's juggling work, grad school, and life, I truly appreciated how seamless they made this process. Their professionalism and work ethic did not go unnoticed. If you're looking for movers who will show up, get the job done right, and exceed your expectations, ask for Omar, Eswin, and Jose. They were phenomenal, and I would absolutely use them again. I recently hired Top Dog for a move -- and it turned out to be the worst decision I've made all year. During the move, one of the movers entered my private bathroom without asking permission. He remained in there for several minutes, during which I was still being charged for his time. This was not only unprofessional but also a clear violation of boundaries. When I called the company to address the matter, the response was dismissive and unprofessional. The representative told me he "didn't see a problem" and compared the situation to letting a mover use his own bathroom. I explained that my bathroom had been professionally cleaned the day before -- and I had not even used it myself yet. I requested they arrange for it to be cleaned again, but my concern was brushed off. I was told they would "call back after speaking with the worker," but I never received any follow-up. No apology. No offer of resolution. No discount. Nothing. This company demonstrated a complete lack of respect for its customers and their property. Based on my experience, I strongly advise avoiding Top Dog for any moving needs.
