Maybe they think I'm a tourist and won't care, but I live in this town and it is still annoying to have to make additional trips to the restaurant to get what we ordered. I have been so excited to go to Myst as I have heard great .things about them. So I finally made it there this past weekend October 26, 2025. I can't say anything great. I arrived with my party at around 1 PM to have lunch. The restaurant itself was not super busy however our server was incredibly slow. It took a very long time for her to come and get our drink orders. She took half of the orders and then walked away without taking everyone's orders for drinks. She actually did this on refills as well. We ordered the sushi and sashimi boat for two which comes with soup and a salad. The soups and salad were incredibly inconsistent. Out of the two salads one had cucumbers and carrots while the other one had nothing but lettuce. The dressing was very good. The soup had very little tofu and very little seaweed. The boat itself came out and looked pretty and tasted OK however, both me and my partner were sick for two days after eating it . for all the hype and the price I was incredibly disappointed. I definitely would not go back nor would I recommend this to anyone. read more

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere! We had the shrimp drunken noodles and chicken teriyaki bento box. The chicken teriyaki with the onions and sauce was amazing. Comically bad. I should have had an inkling that this townie bar wouldn't have the greatest Japanese food, but the reviews were so positive! The first warning sign came when I ordered the chirashi and was asked to repeat myself three times -- the bartender said he'd never heard of it. It came with giant leaves of iceberg drowned in dressing and what I think was supposed to be miso soup with no miso in it. The chirashi wasn't a bowl, but instead pieces of thick-cut fish next to some rice. In fact, they were extra thick because the individual slices weren't separated from each other completely. I had to cut the fish myself with my chopsticks. That said, the bartender was very nice and price was right at less than $23 for essentially three courses. read more

This place has it all as far as Japanese, Chinese, and Thai cuisine goes. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable about the cuisine too. I was able to order the chicken and filet mignon hibachi with both fried rice and udon noodles which was delicious . They even gave me a bonus soup, clear soup + miso soup and salad with the traditional Japanese ginger dressing. Every time I'm in Jim Thorpe I try something new. I'll proba try this place again the next time after the winery across the street. read more

I guess if you are a local, you don't know much about sushi so I guess this is the best you can get. I live in southern California and this would be a disgrace to serve, not even fit for the homeless. The miso soup was also very bland and needed flavor. Don't waste your money. read more

Thank you fellow yelpers for your reviews! We were at Jim Thorpe for the fall Foliage train ride and were super hungry after the ride. The glowing reviews made it pretty easy for me to go directly here for my late lunch. Hubby wasn't in the mood for Asian food so he only had salad. I ordered the prawn tempura bento box lunch special. The soup and salad arrived first. Salad was good but I wish the soup was miso. The bento box came out about 5 min later and it didn't disappoint. The portion was bigger than I expected and definitely tasted a lot better than I thought it would be for a 'mountain tourist town'. (I'm comparing the quality of the food and price-wise to Asian restaurants in other tourist town). If we ever go back to Jim Thorpe (and we will since I've fallen in love with this town!), I would not hesitate to come here again. read more

I've always had an aversion to Sushi. Probably because ever since I was a boy (and that was a LOOONNNGGG time ago) we fished with fish eggs, and I think that's why I avoided this type of food for so long... too long! Then, about four months ago my family ordered TWO large platters of assorted sushi from Myst that we had in our home. Long story short, after a bit of needling they got me to try some, and then some more, and before the meal was through, I was no longer freaked out at the thought of "raw fish", eel, etc. Instead, I am now a huge fan, as are all of the sane members of our family! Well, last weekend, while I was visiting from out of state, my children took me out to the Myst Restaurant in Jim Thorpe, PA, which is a quaint "walk-about" village that is very popular to tourists. It was a wonderful day topped off with a KING's FEAST, a Sushi Boat, some more side dishes and Alan as a wonderful host! My son had a lobster dish that he loved as well, so don't avoid this place just because you too have an "aversion" to this type of food as I once did. There's plenty of other choices for the squeamish of heart. (lol) So, FINALLY, my summary. GREAT food, SUPERIOR service, and the artful display with our Sushi boat was simply outstanding! From start to finish this was a very special experience with reasonable prices for what you receive. Just don't go if you are on too strict a budget... but expect to receive a high-quality meal, every time, at a fair price point and you won't be disappointed. read more

When entering the establishment, we were greeted by a young, messy young man who mumbled. Absolutely no interest in a friendly greeting. He was sitting at the bar on his phone and had to keep getting up when people came in. Ordered the General Tso chicken. The rice was good, but the chicken was over fried or twice fried. I couldn't even cut it with a steak knife. Some servers with long hair were waiting on people - hair should be pulled back. The place would probably improve with better management. read more

This is the best sushi eeevvvveeerrrrrrrr especially the Sakura Roll. It is just so fresh and melts in your mouth. I've been to omakases, upscale sushi restaurants, and most of them are not up to par with Myst's quality. If I ever move away from the area I'll come back just for my rolls and my miso soup. I come at least once a week I swear I crave it in my sleep. The rolls are filled up with great quantity of the fish, not overbearing on the rice. The soy paper is to die for. Of the handful of restaurant choices in Jim Thorpe more were closed than open, as was the case with the one we were headed to. In asking around, 2 people recommended Myst. We weren't really in the mood for this type of food but, again, our choices were greatly limited and, well, 2 separate recommendations. Upon entering I didn't quite get that welcoming feeling but I'm guessing it was just the demeanor of the server who actually turned out to be kind of nice and who did something that was really nice. We didn't take the time to pour over the extensive menu which, looking back at it now, has lots of good choices. Rather, we quickly ordered the hibachi scallops and a myst roll. Both were ok, neither particularly exceptionally good or bad. The hibachi scallops lunch special comes with a soup & salad and the server brought 2 of each- 1 for each of the diners. I suspect it should have been just 1 serving for the person ordering that lunch special. So, I feel this was an unexpected kindness. Btw, the soup and salad were pretty good! read more

The food and drinks here were SO good. Their menu was extremely fairly priced - you don't see that with a lot of sushi places nowadays. Our server Catlan was wonderful and extremely attentive! I wasn't too happy with my waiter, waited 10 minutes just for my server to appear, having said that, I ALSO have to explicitly ask multiple times to get our water, ‍ seems to me the resturant prioritizes certain groups over others, came here with a group of 6 and were left unattended the entire time. Basically, felt like I had to plead to get water. Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to make a problem out of it but my dining my experience just unpleasant and overall just not good. Excellent food, service and ambiance. We shared Shrimp Pad Tai and General Tso Chicken. Both were delicious. The avocado salad was creamy on a bed of lettuce with a lemon vinegarette dressing. Amazing martinis and Mai Tais which were unique mixes. Our waitress, Kat, was attentive and pleasant. She helped us choose "the pink lady" which was tempora wrapped in pink rice paper. We would highly suggest this sushi roll section. No reservations were needed & did not have to wait. It was a great place to celebrate our anniversary. We definitely return to this gourmet eatery. Good edition to an area that is typically somewhat of a culinary void. I had pad thai which was good. We have two rolls too not pictured. Spider roll and a dragon roll. Both good. Only removed a star because they didn't have the duck that I was craving. Service and atmosphere were great. We met for a small family post Christmas meal between Christmas and New Years. As a local to Carbon County, I am absolutely thrilled this place is here, not far from us. We had a family with 3 vegans and 2 non vegans, and the menu here was excellent for all of us. There were so many things I wanted to try, so I can't wait to come back. We just stopped in for a quick little snack and ended up having the best freaking Tom Yum soup I've ever had in my life as well as the best cheese Rangoons! Our server was amazing! His excitement was uncontainable when I ordered the Tom Yum soup which got me very excited... I was not at all disappointed! Chicken and shrimp were over cooked, u don't get to see the cook to cook it, which is the whole point of hibachi. So if u were looking for performance, i don't recommend this place. Our eyes got caught by the sizzling pan with steak while we were waiting. Smelt really good. But I think they didn't put enough sauce on out sizzling pan. Flavor was good though. Long wait on Saturday night for no reservation. So definitely would recommend to plan and make a reservation. If we ever go back to Jim Thorpe I wouldn't go back to this place. read more

What a great find in Jim Thorpe! We got kicked out of Molly Maguires for our tiny lap god puppy, who is a 6 month old you kid and sits in our lap during dinner, quiet as a mouse. So, we stumbled upon Myst, and we are SO glad we did! This place is SO nice! They allowed our puppy to sit on our laps IN the restaurant, after we couldn't get a seat at MMG'S, on the DECK!!! The service was fabulous and friendly and everything we had was amazing! We were seated immediately, after waiting at the other place for about 15, with at least 25 more to go before someone noticed the 4 lb puppy in our arms and kicked us off the list. We tried sushi, fried rice, vegetable tempura, edamame, and cleat soup. All were amazing! The kids got the clear soup and some really yummy mocktails! We will definitely be back on our subsequent trips to Jim Thorpe. This is honestly the first restaurant we have been truest impressed with in the town. read more

My husband and I went to Myst in Mountaintop yesterday. We didn't have reservations so they added us to a party celebrating a hs graduation. I was surprised at how big the place was as this was our first time there, we have been to Jim Thorpe Myst many times. Our waitress was a young girl, maybe 18/20, who was totally overwhelmed. She was not welcoming at all and seemed bothered if you asked for something. The chef was pleasant, but all the food on the grill was touching, so my shrimp tasted like fish because it was smack against salmon filets. I couldn't eat it as I don't like salmon at all. The steak my husband had was good, but our chicken was very dry, even the shrimp was overcooked. When it was over one of the gentlemen at the table asked for 3 boxes and she basically threw them on the table. She brought our check without asking about dessert and when my husband asked for dessert, she retorted "you want dessert"? She was irritated. I think it has a long way to go before it can compare to Jim Thorpe. For us it's a one and done. read more
