Pizza slices are huge. I ordered two but it was probably the equivalent of three standard sizes. They have lots of topping choices, but it seems like they just put the toppings on when it's time to warm up the slice. Maybe some are already made. In a neighborhood with real drinkers' bars, you need places like these. As our pal, Sean, who sets up the BBQ in front of Malatov's, knows and steps up and delivers. But when you want pizza, you might think of going here. I like the crew, they've been running the place consistently for years if not decades, and there is value in consistency. But this is no Tony's. Not really a Domino's (if you order properly, Domino's is still in the game). But stick to the ready-to-eat slices and you'll not be too unhappy. I get pepperoni. The Athenian is not a bad choice. Chicken does not belong on or near a pizza, so my wife's choices shall be omitted from this review. But if that's your thing, she LOVES this place, so have fun. Also, because my wife loves this place and we live 2 blocks away, we ordered a whole pie for delivery once. Once being the operative. The stakes were high: I wanted anchovies. Seemingly the last person to want anchovies before me was in the 80s--these anchovies were rank. I would have walked my half of the pizza back to the shop and requested a refund, but I accept the risk I took ordering anchovies, and this time, I lost. But I might also add that my onions, which were red onions for whatever reason, seem to have been forgotten in the original prep. They were raw and crunchy: OK on a salad, but proper white or yellow onions mingle with the bell peppers and minced garlic when cooking and throwing raw ones on after the pizza comes out of the oven is just offensive. To the tastebuds, sensibility, and trust. Never order a whole pizza here. If you don't like Domino's, CostCo is a better option. Or take responsibility for your happiness and get a pizza somewhere that smells good and has a proper brick oven. But if you are in the neighborhood at this moment, check Sean out in front of Malatov's. Tell him Tim and Krista sent you. He'll set you up. Alternatively there're 2 sushi joints--one better than the other, so see their reviews. I think the cheaper one is the good one, but.... also, dumpling city, the Korean bbq. The Bar at Pierce and Haight has an entirely gross food menu. A common situation in top notch bars like this one who want to discourage food orders and focus on the drink. I'm told Otra is one to try. Walk up to Divisadero and the Hotel Metro has Italian but closes early. Horsefeather is fun the first and second time. But if you're wasted and in the neighborhood (although I doubt such a person would get this far in the review), then get the pizza. It's cheap and it'll do the trick. Or there are a few markets right there--get a pair of Hostess cupcakes, a strawberry milk, and a snickers. You can't go wrong. read more

My boyfriend raved about this pizza spot (Mythic Pizza) that he had stumbled upon with his friends. We finally got around to ordering a medium cheese pizza with pepperoni to-go. The restaurant itself is quite small and definitely gives hole in the wall vibes. I'm a huge pizza fan so I was already being hypercritical. We got our pizza fresh out the oven and took it home to enjoy. Upon opening the box we were pleasantly surprised at how large the medium pizza was. And for the price, it was well worth it! The crust is probably my favorite part, the bottom was light and crispy which is just the way I like it! The outer crust wasn't as fluffy as I thought it'd be but it was still delicious nonetheless! I do wish there they had added on more pepperoni but that's just my personal preference. I did make a note to myself that next time we ordered, we should get light cheese rather than regular because the regular was quite a lot of cheese that we ended up picking some off. I also really enjoyed their pizza sauce as it was much more seasoned than others I've had in the area. Mythic Pizza definitely has a couple of new fans in my household and since we're local, we'll be visiting again when we're craving pizza! I love a good pizza spot in San Francisco! Came here late last night after a night out with some friends. Wanted a slice of pizza that had vegetables and that was semi healthy. I ordered the "Athens" - (Pesto, Artichoke, Garlic). It was very delicious. The place is small on the inside but there is seating. 4 stars because the slice to price ratio is a little expensive for my liking AND ranch cup was $1-2 which I never seem to comprehend. I don't understand all of these high and flattering ratings. How many relatives and friends does the owner of this place have? The first red flag is that most of the writing on the chalk board is basically gone, and they haven't bothered to print out any paper menu, so I had to look it up on my phone. The man behind the counter said the wings are spicy, so that took care of that. I went with a slice of pepperoni, that must have been the Weight Watchers slice, it was so thin. Back in the day, a slice of pizza was actually two slices, so it seemed like you got a really great deal. There were a lot of pepperonis on it. I appreciated it, and the crunchy crust. The sauce was nothing to write home about, but it was edible. I really just needed something in my stomach before I went to Safewaay, so I wouldn't buy the whole store. One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco! I came here a couple times during the summer and each time I was so blown away by the pizza. All of the ingredients tasted so fresh and when it comes right out of the oven, the cheese and bread is just so chewy and melts in your mouth. It is just so delicious! I traveled to this city today for a meeting, and I was fortunate to have a lot of free time on my hands in the afternoon to check out the city. I did a lot of walking all over the city, up and down, and up and down these massive hills which took up a lot of my energy. Earing was super necessary and I soon discovered how expensive this city really is. This pizza restaurant was on my way to the Bart metro station so I figured it would I ld be the most economical to simply buy a slice and canned soda. Thunk again! The slice canned soda combo came out to be nearly $7.00. The slice was large and tasted good but I think the next time that I come to this city, I will bring a bag lunch! They require a $10 minimum to use a credit card, which is EXTREMELY annoying if you plan to stop in for a slice a pizza (what Bay Area restaurant still does this?). I had to order a salad too so I could get my daughter the pizza. It was completely unedible. It was just a bucket of dressing with some leaves in it. It was disgusting. I took the Caesar back to the counter and he asked me if I wanted him to put more lettuce in it. No thanks. Obviously he didn't give me a refund. I think this is a solid drunk spot. Just to be clear, I was really drunk when I ate here, so I can't be totally trusted, but it completely hit the spot! It's a good sized slice, and it's really doughy to soak up that alcohol. They have a ton of options, which is frankly a little too overwhelming if you don't have a clear head. It's veg friendly with various exciting options. I took it to go for the road and what do you kno. As I bit into my slice all I tasted was a smoky burnt taste. The bottom of my pizza tasted burnt. Although it was packed with toppings... I propose the pizzas are half cooked then extra toppings are added and it's baked again fully. That's kinda gross. Never again--I ordered two deep dish pizzas last night and with tax and tip for delivery it cost me $70. The dough was raw due to undercooking. I called immediately but I was told the manager wasn't in. I called two times today and finally got the manager. They said I have to call Postmates who delivered last night,for them to pick it up and bring it back. I told them Postmates was unwilling to do so.They refused to do anything about it and I told them I would take them to court. People complain about "too much cheese," as if that is a thing??? If you want shishi-fufu garbage then go find any of the numerous places in this city for that. I order the Greco calzone from here every time! I discovered this cute little place while I was working with my dad and we decided we would have a calzone from here. The calzone was about 14' for a medium and it was only $14 and fed us both and we were both pretty stuffed, they cook it there it's nice and fresh for you and you get a nice hot slice of whatever it is you want. The people were very kind and gave us extra sauce and made the food extra thick for my dad and I :) best place I 100% recommend this place for a nice hot calzone read more
