Delicious food, but absolutely mediocre service at best with pretty feisty waiters that kicked us out 3 mins before closing as we were still wrapping our meal. The service needs serious improvement. We went back two days in a row because of the food and we were treated poorly both days, which explains how empty their restaurant was at all times. Perhaps takeout is a better option for this establishment. I love the massaman curry and the fresh spring rolls! The roti is good but not as crunchy as it could be if they didn't stack them on top of each other. This is one of my favourite neighbourhood places and I've been somewhat thrown by neighbours who said Naam is a 'hit or miss experience". It's been more hit than miss for me, but I ordrered a Spicy Noodles this week and it was at an off hour, but still.. it was terrible, I am tossing out half of it and I am somone who writhes at wasting food. We've both eaten here and had take out from here. The food is good, above average Thai. The best dishes on the menu are the specialities. For example, I had a special curry on a recent visit that was kind of in between a yellow and red curry. It was obviously an in house speciality and was very tasty. The speciality dishes are outstanding. Other dishes we have had are good, above average Thai. Service is friendly, though a bit sluggish and not all that attentive. We've never had an issue with rudeness. The only issue I have with Naam is they sometimes get heat levels mixed up. We'll order a 1 and a 4 star on two different dishes, and we'll receive the dish that was supposed to be 1 star with 4 and the dish that was supposed to be 4 star with 1. See other reviewers have had the same experience (or not the higher star heat as requested), so Naam needs to work on this. Otherwise, we'll certainly be back. read more

Short and sweet: Got take out, expensive, small portions (one container was less than half full), average flavors, undercooked shrimp, strong fish flavor mussels (either co-mingled with other seafood or nearing spoiled). AMBIANCE Naam has a really nice family restaurant feel to it. The services is solid and the place is simple and clean. Nothing to complain about here. FOOD We started off with shrimp satay which was pretty good. Nothing amazing, but the peanut sauce was the winner with this dish. I kept it around to put on my main dish. Everywhere does Khao Soi a little differently, and I was a little disappointed by the noodles here at Naam. The broth was really nice and rich, but the noodles lacked flavor in my opinion. Great toppings in it that were fresh. The Phad Kee Mao was really good. The flavors were all there that you'd expect in a Phad Kee Mao, and the vegetables were really fresh providing great color to the presentation, and a nice bite in texture. No complaints here. Not the friendliest service or the best Thai food, but for an affordable and quick lunch in Madrona, Naam Thai Cuisine is here for just that. I volunteer at the nearby school and needed a quick lunch before then. Since the business centre of Madrona is basically a street of businesses, Naam Thai Cuisine is one of the only restaurants that's open for lunch. I looked on Yelp and saw that the restaurant opens at 11:30, but saw that the "open" sign wasn't lit up. I walked in and asked who appeared to be the owner if they were open. She was at her register, counting money and said, "Yeah, we open at 11:30." So I went in closer to her, to be seated and even proceeded to take a seat at the bar where she was when she didn't turn around. She never once looked up until finally, I asked to see a menu. Her response, "Okay, fine, I'm trying to do something..." Then she took a menu and started walking towards the dining area. I can only assume to follow her and take a seat. Once I was ready to order I didn't even wait for her to come back to my table. I went up to the bar and just told her my order, since I was on a time crunch to get to my volunteer shift. Naam Thai Cuisine has lunch combinations, all for about 10 bucks. It's a solid deal, with a side of steamed rice, phad thai, a spring roll and your choice of one of the entree combinations. For mine I ordered the yellow curry with chicken. Food was A-OK. It's far from the best Thai food I've had, as my main complaint was the lack of flavor, which is astounding for Thai food! I even asked for yellow curry to be spicy, and it was not at all. But since I was in a hurry to eat lunch I didn't ask for chili sauce, especially since the owner was scrambling around, helping the other customers getting takeout. Plus, she was rude, so didn't want to deal with her again. However, the portion was a good size, especially for 10 bucks. Yet, don't expect anything worth craving again. The only reason why I'd come to Naam Thai Cuisine is purely out of convenience and affordability. Since I'm in the area every week for volunteering it's good to know that there is Naam for lunch. Myself and a few friends were supposed to eat at Bottlehouse a few businesses down but I was told the wait would be 45-60 minutes so we said forget it and decided to venture off to see what else as around. We stumbled upon this restaurant since everyone liked Thai food so we were like why not? To my pleasant surprise everything was really good! We ordered a ton of food. Panang curry, mango fried rice, pad ka pow, phad Thai, spring rolls, crab ragoons, phad kee mao! Everything was delicious and you could tell it was fresh! Most of us ordered a Thai iced tea too which was really refreshing. The service was great and we didn't have to wait long to be seated or for our food to come out. Our server this nice man was very attentive and always refilled our water. I'm not really I'm the Madrona area at all but if I happen to be I definitely will come back here! I have eaten in the restaurant and it is never difficult to get a table. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to dietary preferences and certainly about the heat!! Hands down the best Thai business in all of Seattle. Nestled into a cute little neighborhood spot in Seattle, this place right now is take out only. Ordinarily the spot would make for the perfect dinner night. The vibe is definitely chill. The Kee Mao noodles are the best in the city. They have some sort of sweet savory tang that makes them rich in texture which I can't even describe in words. You just have to try it! The flavor in all of their curries are distinct and honestly the only way curry should be made. The crispy garlic chicken is also a huge hit of mine. This is at least up to snuff, maybe even a step above average (doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, but the average Thai in Seattle is a high bar). Their phad thai was just a little bit drier than ideal, but my initial texture issues with the wide rice noodles have been resolved. The thai iced teas were sweet and creamy. The food is spot on and thankfully not too spicy. Well balanced and well seasoned. My son loves the spring rolls. My wife loves the yellow curry with extra chicken on a bowl of rice. I love the house salad. It reminds me of Koh San Road but the quality of produce is better at Naan Thai. The peanut sauce is exactly how I like it: light on chili and oil. So when i called the food was cooked and i asked if it could be 3 stars. She was very annoyed and hung up on me. Not only was she rude to me but my post mates even texted me back and said she was rude to him. Yeah it was my bad that i forgot to mention how spicy. I ordered Pad Thai and LARB through Uber eats, I specifically asked for three star spice and spicy chili flakes on the side. I got none of those. Thai food is supposed to be spicy and that's why they ask you for how spicy you want it. They totally disregarded the information that I provided. I wish I could give more stars. I was with a Thai person and 19 other Asians who eat A LOT of Asian and Thai food and we all loved everything we ordered-- and we ordered a lot. Naam Thai accepted us and quickly placed tables together and accommodated our large party. Annnd, they brought our food out fairly quickly. We had two babies and four other kids and the waitress was unphased (though, important to note that the babies and kids were really well behaved; but some wait staff tend to get rattled or look irritated at the presence of kids. anyway.). Food-wise-- Best panang I've had. Very flavorful. I could taste the coconut and all the other flavors. I tasted my nephew's fried rice with crab meat and it was also excellent. So much so that he ate most of it and didn't seem like he wanted to share anymore. Others had chicken satay, beef salad, chicken wings, pad see ew, etc. but they didn't share! Everyone ate their food fairly quickly. Important to note that the ordering and check process were also efficient. We were able to order quickly, get our food and pay without the group confusion/payment drama. They really made it super easy. They were attentive the entire time and checked on us without rushing us. Excellent everything and they were very welcoming! I know the service in a place is bad, really bad, when I spend 30 minutes writing and re-writing my first paragraph about how bad the service is; each version just got longer than the next. Bottom line is that even though they have half a dozen people on the floor, none of them seem to know what they're doing. Long waits for seating, longer waits to order, drinks coming after the first course comes, no one checking in during the meal. Just truly awful. And that's a shame because the food is really good. Everything we ate looked pretty and was devoured quickly. They do a huge takeout business and I"m guessing that a lot of that is people who want the good food but can't deal with the horrible service. read more

I only ended up here last night because the Louisiana Creole place I had been meaning to try on E. Cherry was closed, so I kept on driving into Madrona to check out the options. This was my first visit inside Naam. I do recall jogging by here last summer when they had the doors and windows open. At that time there was a miniature collie tied to the post out front, and it lunged at me as I went by. I remember the rotten little beast. It was blind in one eye and some old lady who had been sitting inside the restaurant came out and assured me her baby wouldn't hurt a flea. Yeah, sure. I loved the modern West Elm-like interior, especially the birch panels with patterns of circles that reminded me of fish and waves. The late afternoon sun was in full splendor and it was curious that half of the windows were covered with a blind, but no blind existed for the other half so the sun blazed in. They did have a fan going so it was comfortably cool, you just had to hang on tight on to your napkin so it wouldn't blow away. I wasn't massively hungry, so I only ordered a Thai Iced Coffee and the "Beef Delight." Though the restaurant was nearly filled and the wait staff were really scrambling, I received my food items quickly. Service overall was very good. I liked the smoky flavor of the Thai Iced Coffee. The Beef Delight, termed a "crowd pleaser" on the menu, was good. It consisted of sukiyaki-like beef, white onion, cabbage and a sweet soy sauce, topped with a light sprinkling of sesame seeds. I thought how the cabbage was cut and cooked worked out especially well. The beef was a little tough though. However, overall, this dish had a great flavor. Also, they didn't skimp on the meat. Noticed other restaurant changes in the neighborhood. Looks like Latin Bistro died, but according to the sign in the window, it will arise like a sphinx but now be named "Delicious Tiny Latin Bites". Also, I see that a restaurant named "June" has opened in Cremant's old location. read more

This was the third closest eatery by the glassybaby location my friends and I were glassmaking at the other night. Even with meh reviews, we all managed to agree on Thai and that most people don't mess up Thai food, right? It has very modern, chic decor. Taupe walls and dark woods. Lamps and not many bright overhead lights. We went around 8, so not too many people were there but there were several seated parties enjoying their food. After waiting for several minutes (some actually taken up by someone ahead of us), we decided to lounge on one of their large, round daybeds for our meal. The daybed was pretty cool but we kinda sank so we sat on the decor pillows for more support. Shoes off, if you please. The food was pretty yummy. We ordered the country-style pad thai, panaang curry, and pad see ew. I've never heard of a country-style pad thai before; apparently, they use thinner noodles and a tamarind sauce instead of a tomato-based one. It seemed lighter than your typical pad thai and was pretty tasty. I liked the thinner noodles. The curry was good, a little sweet from the coconut milk. My friend liked her pad see ew. However, rice was a side. Which is weird, because curry. How else do you eat a curry?! So, annoying. Also, their star-rating for spiciness seems off. My sister ordered a one star for her curry and it was spicier than my 2-star pad thai. Service is what dropped it from a 4-star review to a 3-star review. The service is slooow. Even when there weren't that many patrons, there wasn't a server to be found. We saw lots of people get takeout, which kinda indicated that while the food is good, people probably didn't wanna deal with the staff. Also, they forgot my friend's peanut sauce for her pad see ew and we had to wait for someone to come along so we could stop them and ask. Our server didn't come check on us until about 2/3rds through our meal. Then he came by again five minutes after that asking if the spice was alright. WHAT IF IT WASN'T?! Not spicy enough is doable- you can still eat it. Too spicy? Can't eat that. Wouldn't go out of our way to eat it. If we were in the area again, we'd probably try somewhere else. What I ordered: At the recommendation of my friend and dining companion, I followed suit by ordering the Lunch Combo Special ($9.95) Green Curry, including: chicken simmered with green curry spices, coconut milk, green bean, zucchini, bamboo shoots, bell peppers and basil, served with Phad Thai, a spring roll, Jasmine white rice. What I loved: The green curry! I opted for spice level four (out of five) and thoroughly enjoyed the creamy green curry with fresh, crisp vegetables and a burst of spiciness!
