Upon our arrival, the waitress told us to take a seat where we'd like. After about 15 minutes of no wait staff coming to our table, my friend went up to the front counter to grab menus and alert the staff. Once we got our hookahs delivered to our table. First off, it was clear that the hookahs were not clean and second, the flavor of mine was clearly not what I had ordered. After about 20 minutes, our waitress finally came back to our table and I told her my hookah was not what I had ordered. She said that if SHE had come by sooner and I had the chance to tell her sooner, she could have switched it for free but since she didn't, I would have to pay to fix the mistake her and her staff caused. The entire conversation with her was rude and we were just dismissed by her. We were not served by her for the rest of the night. We decided to order a dessert and had to flag down another server to get menus. Which was not easy. We ordered the Naara's Best and waited for about 25 more minutes. So we waved down a separate server and she went to see where our order was. Then the server that initially took our order came out and informed us that the he had forgotten to put the order in with the kitchen in the first place. We spent over 2 and a half hours there and 80% of the time waiting. They went up on their prices as well. We paid for 5 star service but got 2 star service. I would not suggest this place to anyone, rude staff that can't handle their jobs. read more

Naara is my favorite hookah spot in San Antonio! The hookah is sooo smooth. At one point, I had gone here 6 out of the 7 nights of the week. That being said, I docked off a star because there are some areas which need improvement. The service is fantastic on some nights, but mediocre on others. It's a gamble and completely depends on which server you have. There have been a few who are proactive on checking if you need anything and have a cheery attitude. Here are some of two bad experiences: 1) One of the staff who hands out coals took an liking in my friend, who made no move for reciprocation. He came to us several times throughout the night to make small talk, then proceeded to ask for her social media information despite her clear disinterest. The next night we came, she politely asked to be seated in an area that wasn't his. Later, we found out he got fired because of this incident. Good move, Naara! 2) Last week, we had a cranky server who pushed us to leave faster. It was the strangest thing- asking if were done ordering for the night after taking our order, so that she could bring our tab to the table even though we just received our hookah and food. Half an hour after eating our fries, when there was clearly more than half of the food left, she again inquired if we were finished with it. We told her she could take it, and she immediately took one of the fries and ate it in front of us?! Overall though, the place looks nice. There is even a fountain outside with (possible faux) vines which serves as good decor. The service is inconsistent, and how busy Naara is can also be inconsistent. I've seen it nearly empty at 10pm and it packed at 2am. There was also a time when I came with a group of five that we were turned away because there was no seating available, so I would call to ask if they take reservations if you are planning on coming with more than 2-3 people. read more

Naara is the perfect place for a night out with friends, they always have a band, belly dancing or just music playing. Hookah is great, the peach tea is amazing! The hummus is a great appetizer with the hot pita bread! The Bakalov is also a perfect dessert for two! read more

All 3 times I was there I had a great experience when it comes to customer service and food. The food tastes great. First time I had a koobideh with rice and house salad, second time was Vavishka Plate and third time wrap with hummus. Definitely recommend all 3 platters. The first time I tried Naara was a few years ago and I loved the food so much, I started going on a weekly basis. Their gyros are great and so are their pizzas. Then one night I went to dinner with a friend and was told that they had started charging for water. This "coincidentally" happened at the beginning of Ramadan when many patrons would come to break their fast at the end of the day. This left me kind of annoyed, but I still came back occasionally until the customer service started going downhill. Fast forward to present day... I decided to grab a falafel wrap to go for dinner tonight, and I must say it was probably the worst I've ever had. To start with, it is no longer wrapped in pita bread but rather a giant flour tortilla. A tortilla! Never in my entire life of eating Mediterranean food has anyone ever made a falafel wrap with a tortilla. Just unfortunate. Then the falafel patties themselves were too salty, soggy, and overall lacked flavor. They used to have pretty good fries, but that too has changed and their French fries now taste like they borrowed them from Wendy's and put some seasoning on them. (BTW Wendy's fries suck). Overall I'm giving them 3 stars because I know their gyros and pizzas good. I don't smoke hookah, so I can't comment on that, but I've heard good things. So here is a review after visiting this place a few times. I was generous in the previous review since the food was ok, but the service here is extremely slow and not to forget terrible. The young guys on the register have absolutely no respect for people. Customer service is the worst you will ever experience. It is unfortunate that a restaurant that claims to serve halal food is this bad. This is one thing that american food chains have done right, always great and fast service and courteous to customers. I seriously wish I could rate this place higher, it has a great location, well priced food and an awesome middle eastern vibe. Truth is, if you're not there to smoke, you'll probably get terrible service. I've only ever had one attentive waitress while eating there and I've yet to ever see her again. I can't judge their Hookah, but if you order food, expect to not have any sort of follow up. You pay for water and I pretty much just sit myself whenever I go. First time I went with a friend, I was asked to wait to be sat, 10 minutes later I was told to "sit wherever." All that being said, they have an AWESOME selection of drinks. The turkish coffee is phenomenal and the food combos are great. The best things about this place for me is the hours, they are open till 2 and 4 AM. Simple review for Naara ahead. Food: awesome! Always consistent and delicious. Ambiance: I personally love a laid-back, outdoor environment so they won me over. Several TVs outside so you can watch the games when available. They do have an inside seating area but it's a bit stuffy for me, especially with the hookah smoke. Hookah: it's good as every other place but I will say its definitely overpriced, but the environment makes up for it. Service: This they can improve drastically. Consistently long wait times before you can even order. Waitresses aren't even friendly or polite. We found Pasha's only be driving by. What a delightful finding! This is a busy middle East (Meditaranian) restaurant that is both good and reasonably priced. There are already two Pasha's in San Antonio and a third one about to open in two weeks in the Forum Live Oak area off I-35. All look like great successes. They seem to follow the same formula for success as the Peymonds Cafes in Las Vegas. If you miss a good hummus or lental soup and a gyro plate, this is the place to go to in San Antonio. Of interest, there is a smaller middle eastern cafe right behind Pasha's called the Naara Cafe. We actually like this place better because it has more atmosphere, great outside pation and some of the best pizza in town. And, it is the only place we've found a true Shawarma (wrap) in San Antonio exactly like the small street places in Damascus. Naara Cafe is like a typical small coffee house in downtown Damascas or Tehran. It was then that the waiter told us that Pasha's and the Naara Cafe had the same owner. Was that his Maserati parked next to my Honda Fit right out in front? Maybe it's the sam guy that owns the huge Ali Baba food market in the same complex. read more

I love relaxing at naara cafe after work. My server Delilah give me A1 service every time I come. She made me kiwi mango mint and then for my refill she recommended twisted, blue raspberry, and melon dew. She makes sure my hot tea comes out the way that I want it. Naara has a beautifully decorated patio area to smoke in; we went on a Tuesday night and the music was lively and had some great belly dancers coming around for entertainment. The hookah menu of flavors is extensive, and they offer many great add ons such as an ice base, ice hose and even fruit bowls (such as pineapple). We enjoyed a great flavored chai (tea) recommended by our server that was a black tea with rose water and cardamom. Our server Kiki really made the experience for us; she was friendly, knowledgeable and always checking in to make sure our experience was a great one. It was my first time at this location but it is definitely going to be my go to venue from now on - in large part because of her. read more

Been coming here almost 3 years now and the past few months here have been horrible. I don't know if it's change in management or different servers or a mix of both but they do not care anymore. We live really close so obviously we'd rather come here for convenience but recently we have been making the drive to Rotana or Hookah Harem and we are officially done with this place. The past 5 times we have been here we have had to ask to be served after waiting close to 10 minutes and we see other customers with the same problem as us every time. And if we are able to be served good luck with getting your coals flipped or ordering food/drinks! Last time being there we talked to a manager and were told "sorry". I really like Naara. They carry Starbuzz, which is nice. I prefer their house specialties, though. You can't smoke inside, though. Not sure why. Don't know if it's a San Antonio thing or just their personal preference, but it would be nice to be able to smoke inside, especially on really cold days. (They have outside heaters, but that only helps so much.) Their food is freaking DELICIOUS. Their tzatziki sauce is so refreshing. Today they put in some sort of chili sauce (think Sriracha) with the tzatziki. Surprising and different but so so good! My only complaint is the attentiveness of the wait staff. Tending to the customers are definitely not their main concern, that's for sure. I'm a returning customer, and will continue to be, but I hope they step their customer service up. The customer service is so bad, their is no one at the door seating you, when you try to find a table, all the tables are 'reserved' only for the parties more than 4 ... ! I have been coming to naaras cafe everyday for two years and the two people who keep my friends and I going is Stephanie and Kaitlyn. They are the most professional attentive staff that I have dealt with. Kaitlyn and Stephanie have amazing leadership skills and keep the "regulars coming back. Only reason I give this place a 5 star rating is because like I many people have witnessed Kaitlyn and Stephanie run the entire restaurant and taking orders in conditions that for other servers I've seen work there stressful they do it seamlessly. If I were the owner I would do what ever I could to keep those two there they keep the place running !! read more

Last night my husband and I went out to enjoy a hookah at Naara Cafe. We have been there many times over the years and expected to be a great experience. To our great dismay, it was an absolutely horrible experience, and as a result must change my rating of this establishment and recommend that NO ONE go here if you are looking for basic customer service because the staff and management is certainly lacking right now. We were attended to by a lady named "Bianca". We asked her how her night was going and she said....okay I guess . We ordered a frozen mint lemonade, and an absolute zero / blue mist hookah with iced tip and ice base. We had asked a question is to why anyone would want to use a milk base and she seemed very dismissive and had no idea why people order or why they'd offer a milk base. I have worked in various industries and various levels of management. As a result, I would expect that anyone in direct customer service role to have a certain degree of knowledge to up-sell my product and increase my bottom line. After taking our order, she came back a 2nd time to confirm our order. She returned with what she said was my frozen mint lemonade. Upon tasting it, I discovered it wasn't what I had ordered. Unfortunately, she had given me what tasted like a milk-based matcha green tea milkshake. Ordinarily, that wouldn't be a problem, but when you have a medically documented severe milk-allergy it's a whole other problem. Even now hours after taking medication I am still having symptoms of a allergic reaction. We called Ms. Bianca back to confirm with her if what she had given to us was in fact the frozen mint lemonade, and again she said it was correct. It wasn't until I told her that it tasted like milk and of my allergy that then she took it back. She then returned with the correct drink which appeared very different from the original drink. Next, came our hookah, but yet again incorrect. We did not have the ice base or the ice tip we had requested. By this time, we were done as it was pretty clear she was not paying attention nor really interested in being at work that day. I understand we all have bad days, but you come to work to work. We told her were not satisfied and were just going to leave. She said she was going to bring us our check. At that point we told her we were not going to pay for the hookah as we had not smoked it. We asked for the manager and a man with a name starting with the letter "H" (wish I could remember) tried to fix the situation. We explained the whole situation to him at which Bianca heard what we were saying, and then blew up on my husband about having an off day. I just looked at the manager like, really? You're going to allow this? I have never experienced anything like that. She then stormed off after she made her point. The manager and I were speaking to which I explained I am willing to pay for the drink that was barely even consumed. At least 3 times I offered to pay for it, he said no that he would take care of it and was sorry for the situation. While we were walking out, Bianca saw us again and was talking to other staff loudly saying we did not want to pay and that is why she was upset never telling them the full story. At that time, my husband heard her and said to me, she's still "bitching" about the situation. That is when a supposed 10 year tenured employee named "Jack" whom we had confirmed to us through other members of the hookah community is actually named "Tyler", then confronted my husband asking like he was throwing us out as he thought my husband had cussed at Ms. Bianca which was not the case. Jack/Tyler was very boisterous and grandiose. He repeatedly denied us information on how to contact the owner or owners (not to worry we got that information on our own), because of the now needlessly escalated situation. Mr. Jack/Tyler made it pretty clearly by his own word and actions that he feared no repercussions for his words or actions because he had been there for 10 years. Even when the manager came up to where we were at, Jack/Tyler wouldn't calm down or back off. Any place that has employees that do not have respect for management, that management has no final say in how problems are resolved, or to even allow for show such bogus treatment to customers when the failure of attentiveness by employees started the problem in the first place. I / We take no joy in sharing this experiencing because Naara is a place we have had many years of great experiences and referred many friends, family, and new-comers to San Antonio looking for new experiences, relaxation, dining, and smoke experience. We really hope that management will read this, take corrective action, and make it the cafe and hookah bar we have come to know over the years. read more

I typically LOVE this place. The service is usually so inviting and the food is typically what I'm always in the mood for. I'm so disappointed in the service now, my waitress seemed annoyed, and apparently the menu has changed; but doesn't reflect when scanned. I love Pita bread and usually the plates come with it, it was unfortunate to know that it doesn't, especially when I'm ordering something and it doesn't state the changes.
