Pick Two Rolls - spicy tuna and cali roll
    Riley B.

We got the pick 2 rolls and the sushi was ok. For the price, there is better sushi in Grand Rapids imo

Rolls are huge. One roll per person is plenty. Very unique rolls. Excellent service. Nice atmosphere, great spot for a date night. Will be back. Rolls are on the pricier side but very good

Maru is a sushi lovers delight - everything is reliably good. Loved the seasonal special kimchi arancini!! The yellowtail crudo is a go to for me when I see it on the menu and this dish held up. The sushi rolls are also great - you can't go wrong with what you order. Our server was lovely and helped us figure out how to best round out our meal. Cocktails are finely crafted - try the espresso martini and sake lemonade. The patio is good sized as well and has good vibes!

My husband and I went here on a Monday evening and it was lovely! My husband got a specialty roll and I got Salmon nigiri and gyoza. The sushi was good quality and flavorful. They also had some speciality lemonades and I tried the Mango flavor. It was delicious! Our waitress was kind and answered all our questions. Our food took about25 minutes to come out which was a downside to our experience but overall we had a great time. We sat outside on their deck which was nice. I would recommend this place to anyone in GR!

Incredible place with great flavor! They seated us right away on a Friday night without reservations and didn't rush us when we stayed late. Definitely coming back. A star was knocked off (seriously not a big deal) because the crab rangoon dip needs more deep fried chips with how much dip you get. They served it right away but we stared at this delicious dip with not enough chips for far too long! A bit dramatic but it was torture because it was that good.

Came to Maru on a Wednesday night for their $4 wine night deal. It was busier than I expected for a Wednesday night, but we were seated right away. Got a couple of glasses of their house wine and split sushi with a friend. The rolls are a bit expensive in general, especially compared to other spots around town, but they are delish and have some super creative flavors. We got the cosmo and spicy tuna, both wonderful. Maru also has a great outdoor space to take advantage of as weather in Michigan gets nicer. For a spot to get some high quality rolls we will likely be back. They also have a great lunch deal to take advantage of!

Mangolorian on left and Nirvana (no longer on the menu so they got close to what was at Lansing loc)

Familiar with yummy Maru of Lansing area so when found Maru in Grand Rapids, you know we had to go! It's graduation weekend so, reservations required! We were lucky to snag a couple seats at the sushi bar as tables were booked til 8:15p last night! Wonderful waitress at the bar! Yummy homemade lemonade with salad and sushi! It was all delicious!

Parking in a public lot across the atreet. Download app.and upload license plate to pay. We made online reservations for three and arrived 15 minutes early. We were welcome and seated promptly. The place was packed and everyone was hustling. We got a table by the window and our waitress arrived promptly to take our drink order. I ordered Jasmine tea and loved it. The tea pot was clear and you could see the beautiful tea leaves floating around. We ordered the shrimp appetizer and was presently surprised that it had a kick that impressed me. There was sush, and hibachi dishes ordered with this meal and nothing disappointed. The price matched the meal and the serve was outstanding.

According to the Google machine, the last time I visited was 11 years ago- and I wasn't impressed honestly. Came back many years later to try it again for our anniversary- knowing this is a more expensive sushi place that for us is more of a special occasion place than others. We were impressed and my opinion definitely changed! Staff were attentive and welcoming. We ordered the honey garlic shrimp appetizer which was light and crispy with really tasty sauce. We took advantage of their "Maru Monday" promotion- repost their Facebook post to enjoy 2 signature rolls for $30 (a savings of around $10 at least it seems). The rolls we got were great- well made, interesting combinations (one had kimchi in it!) And not too big you could hardly eat it. We enjoyed the chocolate truffle dessert- it was small but rich and perfect for a post meal sweet treat. I also appreciated that they had a mocktail menu that was more than 2 things and seemed thoughtfully chosen- i had the strawberry basil drink and it was refreshing. Parking was easy- next to Vivant.

came to maru with a big group during a work trip. the service was great despite how big our group was. i honestly think we ordered just about everything on the menu. the sushi was great, as were the appetizers and sashimi. portions are big, we shared most everything. we always know when we go to maru that the service will be great, as will the food.

miss saigon full of green stuff and half empty. not tasty at all

extremely negative transition from one of the best to very bad qualiy. expensive sushi selection grade are half filled. the filling is mostly parsley and green ognion. see the picture. sashimi and nigiri are of microscopic size. total deterioration of service during the last year. waste of money. waste of time.

WOW! Ventured here to get out of our safe zone of flavor....so glad we did! The food and staff were amazing! So fresh and light. My daughter and I shared an appetizer, roll and a bowl....it was the perfect amount for us.

It's been years, but we made it out for a double date here. We had a 6p reservation for Saturday night and good thing because it was hopping! After finding street parking, we were seated at a booth sharing a window with their outdoor enclosure. Their specials sign caught my eye because of the words OMAKASE sashimi. Run (ok, walk because snow) now! There's blue fin tuna and it was butter! Scallop sashimi - amazing (my favorite sashimi). Also, our server, Kayla was great - efficient and friendly!

We all had a different entree for dinner, and it was the first day of the new menu. I had the strip steak, it was supposed to be medium rare, it was definitely medium but so forgivable because of the excellent flavors.
