Hot and sour soup has no chicken and very little tofu. It's been consistently bad. They load it up with bamboo shoots, which is like eating wood. Don't get me started on the egg drop soup, which is so easy to make. I make it better than these Japanese folks. read more

Easy to get to, easy to order on their website. Food was not good. Even the dumplings were awful. Sweet and sour chicken was mostly breading. Mongolian beef was in a gravy with white onions. Very little green onion and no crispy glass noodles. The dumplings were deep fried and the filling was tasteless. Potstickers are pan fried to make the bottoms crispy and the tops steamed and chewy. This is just laziness. SS chicken combo, Mongolian beef, and order of dumplings was $30. I wasn't looking for anything stellar, just quick, easy and filling. The worst part after eating the food, was that I was sick all night, and we were camping! Hopefully I simply ordered what they do worst and other items are better. IDK but not worth another try, that's for sure. Just don't do it. read more

My friend suggested this place for lunch, and I will just say that we are no longer friends. I ordered the sesame chicken combo, and the chicken was clearly old and then reheated by Microwave. The broccoli was mushy and clearly frozen and reheated as well. The sauce and fried rice had decent flavor, but overall this was very below average for Chinese food. I do not recommend this restaurant. Maybe they should change their name to the BamPOO express. read more

Pretty typical for quick Chinese food. I always get the bourbon chicken/ chicken fried rice and an extra order of crab rangoons. Food is usually ready for pick up in 15-20 minutes. I never get delivery bc I live close and the one time I tried they didn't have anyone available to drop it off lol Not overly friendly, but there's not much interaction with the staff so it's fine. If you're looking for great quality, go somewhere else. If you're looking for a quick meal adequate Chinese food, this is a good option. Large portions, comparably priced. I recently moved to Allendale and was disappointed to see a lack of Chinese restaurants in Allendale. But one day I was driving down Lake Michigan and I saw a sign for Bamboo Express so I thought that I would give it a try. The place is on the smaller side, and it is easily missed, and unfortunately it is only take-out or delivery. I was disappointed by the fact that it wasn't a sit down restaurant, but I guess I should have expected that with the name. But I still gave it a try and just took the food home. I ordered a small hot & sour soup, and the orange chicken combo which came with fried rice and an egg roll. All of the food was fresh and had a pretty good taste, and the prices were reasonable. I liked the hot & sour soup. It wasn't the best I had, but was still very good, and I appreciated that they gave wonton strips to eat with the soup. The egg roll and fried rice were decent, nothing special but better than a lot that I have had. However they did not give any sweet & sour sauce for the egg roll. Luckily I had grabbed some duck sauce just in case. I really liked the orange chicken. It had a good flavor and your could tell that it was made fresh. It had plenty of sauce, which I liked. It also had a reasonable of orange peels which definitely added to the orange taste. The only thing that would have made it better had been more broccoli. There were a few pieces, but not many. I would give them 0 stars if I could. We paid $29.63 for old slimy salmon sashimi. Jelly slime soup and a plate of orange "beef" which consisted of 90% breaded coating. The only decent food were the crab ragoons. The salmon sashimi was extremely warm and slimy like it had been out of the fridge for hours. The "beef" were deep fried chunks of flour in a overly sweet sauce, whatever protein was inside the flour was sketchy looking and tasted unrecognizable. The owner seemed bothered by our presence when we got there, there aren't tables to eat. Only a counter filled with advertisement but we thought we would make it work. When we finally got our food and tried to address our concerns she didn't even bother checking. She was conveniently busy with a phone call. We returned everything and did not request a refund or compensation. None was given either. That did not matter. We were simply trying to make her aware that the food was not edible. She was very bothered and annoyed. She dismissed us and seem to hurry our departure. We left and all the food. I would not recommend wasting time or money at this restaurant. With all honesty, you'll find better food at a gas station. read more

Ordered the Honey Chicken combo meal. What can I say, egg roll was not to good, just plane & not much flavor. The fried rice was real good, and now the Honey Chicken, flavor was real good, but, it was soggy, not fried crisp. Was it sitting around? When I got to the last 2 pcs, I tried putting the fork in & it was real crisp, but when I started chewing, those last 2 pcs were just the coating, no chicken. So at this point I give only 2 stars, I will try them again and hope next time its better, or it will be the last time. Side note: when I walked in I saw a lot of food that was pre made on shelves, this should of tipped me off, pre battered meats and other items. This tells me it's not made fresh.
