I live in Santa Monica. I dropped my dog off at the groomer next door, and they told me to come back in 2 hours, so I went in for a pedicure to kill some time, since I was going to add one anyway. The salon had only a few customers inside, and someone was available right away. The atmosphere was very relaxed. He did an excellent job on my toes, but after reading the reviews here on Yelp, I probably will not get my hands done here. My go-to place is Poppy Salon on Santa Monica Blvd, where I get a Russian manicure and Gel x, and I won't change it. Overall, I had a good experience here, and the pricing was reasonable - $40. I just moved to the Marina and needed a good nail salon preferably walking distance from my place. I am very fussy about my nails, not that I get them done as particularly as many women do, I like to keep them pretty plain, but cuticle removal and shaping is important to me. I got absolutely SCAMMED. I came in and only asked for a gel color removal which was supposed to be $10 and when the lady asked if I wanted a regular pedicure package I said no, I only want the removal. She chipped my toe nails and cuticles for 30 minutes and put salt in the cold water and put a hot towel on my feet for 30 seconds. After nearly 40 minutes I was thinking gosh hopefully this isn't more than like $35 because she's really doing way too much here. I go to check out and a different lady tried to tell me it's $50. I DIDNT EVEN GET COLOR ON MY NAILS! After going back and forth trying to tell her I didn't want any pedicure package and communicated that she wouldn't accommodate or change price. I'm so irritated a $10 quick stop turned into them keeping me for 40 minutes and charging me $50. Absolutely fucking ridiculous. read more

The vibes are 80's beige. The painted all over my cuticles with gel polish, the manager had to fix the external visual issues but the next day my nails were inflamed and infected. I had to have a doctor drain one of the fingers, and there was so much chunky nail polish that grew out from under my cuticles. My pedicure was just as bad, the younger gentleman never cleaned the sides of my toes or cut the dry skin, he removed the polish, trimmed the nails minimally and soaked them in oil to avoid me seeing that they weren't cut or cuticles cleaned. The next day it looked like I got a polish change and not a pedicure. They comped the manicure but my doctor visit was way more than the manicure would have. Stay safe and avoid this place. read more

I'll start with the good. There are a few talented nail artists here. I will not take away from their skill! The owner is sweet and means well. However, if you are just looking for a well done gel manicure or pedicure in a simple color. There are plenty of options in the neighborhood nearby. My low rating is due to the lack of disregard for anyone's time. I make an appt every time I come, nails or lash. The last handful of times I waited at minimum 20 minutes, typically 30. They'll say they can take you /they're on time, just to get you in the chair. But unless someone starts on you within a few mins, I'd keep asking for updates. I've witnesses other "walk ins" walk right back out after 15 mins, on majority of my visits. They should just be honest! I'd rather know it'll be 30 mins, run an errand and come back. My lash appointment last time I waited 30 mins, with an appt. I made an appt this morning for a lash fill (I leave for a wedding tomorrow) and after waiting 30 mins, asked for an update as I have things to do. I was met with a very rude angry older gentleman who took the opportunity to basically yell and argue that someone is in the "back" room because they came early? I asked him why he was so angry and arguing with me and he just kept going. It was not a language barrier, it was just bad customer service. And completely unnecessary. Do better. I live in Playa del Rey so this salon is only 20 minutes away from me. First, you can shoot them an email to schedule an appointment and they really do respond quickly. You can't beat that! I requested an appointment with Lee. I've now learned he is no longer there. Lee is great. You get a cold water bottle when you first sit down. I absolutely love that! I got a gel manicure with ombre glitter and coffin shaped nails for $45. I was also checking out the prices on their menu. For $75 you can get a deluxe mani and pedi. That includes paraffin and a 15 minute shoulder and arm massage. For $40 you can get a regular pedi, paraffin and a 10-minute massage. The shop isn't insanely crowded like Phoenix. I arrived today to learn that I had no appt. Apparently the email appt wasnt forwarded to Lili.. I came here again as a returning customer 45 min before closing time and they didn't let me in. She was mouthing from inside "CLOSED" I pointed to their sign that reads they close at 7:30pm and she ignored me. The lady at the front desk is RUDE. I came in another time to fix one nail that the gel polish had chipped off of. I was charged me $5 to repaint ONE nail. When I asked what my total was she looked up at the ceiling before answering $5 ...it was as if she pulled the number out of you know where. Does that mean a gel mani cost $50? No it costs $30... I thought it was insane to charge that for one nail, not even an acrylic. I swore I would never come back after I was treated so badly and overcharged, but I had a crisis with my nails and needed the gel taken off really bad from a previous bad mani. Avoid. We requested an appointment through yelp a few days earlier and the owner said confirmed. We had requested 3 specific technicians. We called the morning of our appointment and they didn't seem to have it listed. But they said it should be fine and we can come in. We didn't get the technicians that the owner had initially confirmed for us. The whole experience after that was off. I brought my own nail polish, Louboutin that was gifted to me - first they made a big deal about it, and then one of the technicians put thinner in it. The other technician told her to stop, it was clear what she was doing was not ok, and when I confronted her to ask if she had just mixed chemicals into the newly opened bottle of Louboutin, she denied it. I told her I saw her, and she just made up an excuse that the nail polish was too thick (that's the point!) but she still didn't mix anything... If she had just told me the nail polish was too thick and she preferred not to use it, or asked if she can take some out separately and put thinner in just that portion, I would have appreciated it. But instead, she chose not to ask and ruin a gift and then lie about it. And within the same day, my nail was chipping because of the thinner. My other friend also had a really poor experience. She had a technician that didn't seem to know how to remove and replace gel nails. Her hands were covered in acetone throughout the experience, and because she was applying the gel too slow, they would dry before being put into the machine. Her nails were a hot mess by the end of it, with pieces crusting off and uneven nail beds. Management - Please train your staff better. read more

Worst manicure experience I ever had. Unprofessional and unhygienic. I asked for a basic manicure without color and to take off the gel I had. When I left I had a finger that won't stop bleeding and rough nails with scrappy marks all over them. First, do not take off your gels here. This is the roughest method I've ever seen. They wrapped my nails with alcohol three times and just heavily scraped the gel off in tiny pieces. After three rounds I could already see my nails had really heavy marks all over them. And there's not any smoothing process after that either. Then comes the scary part of cutting cuticles. The technician left MULTIPLE CUTS on my fingers. One of them wouldn't stop bleeding but she showed NO concern. Usually even if there's tiny cut the technician should immediately take hygiene/sanitation methods. I asked for alcohol cleans and she only sprayed alcohol on my nails AFTER she finished and even applied lotion on me. During the time there's clear blood coming out and she just tried to press the towel on my finger to stop the bleeding. (NOT CLEAN, you know how dirty the towel can be, those that are put under hands during manicure) Now I can only wish there's no infection. Will never ever go to this place again. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it is so close by but just had a terrible experience. I went once before and I had a very lovely nail tech. I'm leaving a 2 because the lady I had the last time was very nice. Tonight was terrible. - I called to make an appointment and they told me they had time and to come in, but in the middle of doing my nails the lady stopped half way through painting and just left to go work on another customer. No consistency. - They started painting my nails the wrong color and I kept saying that's not what I picked and they tried to push it on me. - The other lady who did my nails just did a super rush job. My nails have missing paint spots, are messy and uneven. They never even asked what shape I like. You can see the pics. - I paid for the package with paraffin and they were rushing to put my hands in it and they dropped it all over my pants. Picture below. Barely got a sorry. She said if it didn't wash out to come back and laughed. - Upon leaving they wanted to charge me the full service price even though I was leaving with pants, part of my sweatshirt and phone covered in wax. It was just awful. They took no accountability. It's a bummer. I rarely leave reviews like this but I can't believe they ruined my pants and charged me fully for my nails. Do not go here. My friend and I went for mani pedis and I am not convinced these employees are trained. I spent $70 and I honestly I could have done a better job. I have had bad mani/pedis in the past but nothing compares to this. Half of my toe nail wasn't painted and none of my nails are the same length or shape. Thank god I only did regular nail polish or I think I would have cried. Please please if you care about your nail care don't go here. I wish I could get my money and my time back.
