Just ate here this afternoon and the hot soup dumplings were just what my soul needed on a freezing February afternoon. It was packed but we got a table almost immediately. We ordered the pork truffle and chicken soup dumplings, noodles with chicken, honey chicken and spicy beef bao. Every single thing was delicious. Service was very quick. I was disappointed because they were out of cucumber and the green beans. We were there for lunch and those dishes were already sold out. They have special menu in addition to the regular one. I picked osmanthus honey chicken. The waiter was letting us know that it would take 20 minutes to prepare. It worth the wait. It's not overly sweet and not dry. I highly recommend it. The Taiwanese ribs are ok, there's some meat but a bit dry. The sweet sauce is enjoyable. It reminds me of barbecue sauce. I love the robot that brings out the orders. In terms of top tier soup dumpling franchises in North America, two other places come to mind before I pass judgement on Nan Xiang. First there is Din Tai Fung -- the undisputed global icon, technically flawless, universally beloved) whom I would place in the Michael Jackson tier. The precision, consistency, and refinement are world class and every bite feels like it was rehearsed a thousand times before hitting the stage. Kung Fu Kitchen, originating out of Flushing and now expanding into Boston and Florida, I would liken to the Justin Timberlake tier. It may not redefine the genre but it delivers confident, well executed performances across the board with its soup dumplings and hand pulled noodles. Clearly it knows what it is doing even if it's not aiming for absolute perfection. As for Nan Xiang which also has roots in Flushing, I'm reminded of someone who has transcended the mainstream but isn't quite the once-in-a-generation GOAT. That tier would be Beyoncé. Like the Queen B, this place commands reverence, not just enjoyment -- people don't just eat here, they make a pilgrimage. You research it, you dress for it, you post about it. The xiao long bao are technically elite -- the pleating is immaculate, the skin-to-filling ratio is almost spiritual, the broth doesn't spill. The menu also has a distinct point of view -- it's not trying to be Din Tai Fung. Who doesn't love a Michelin recommended restaurant? This place is hidden within the same shopping center as Trader Joe's and Cheesecake Factory, but is not to be missed! Their menu is quite a bit smaller than your average Dim Sum place, but eveything they have they do extremely well-- and all of the dumplings are made as you order (and you can see the guys working right behind the window!) We love the sampler soup dumpling 6 where you get to try one of everything, but you might just have to order your own basket to make sure you have each one all to yourself! read more

Decent amount of food for the cost and what makes everything worthwhile is that the food was simply delicious. Great service, nice ambiance, and a well prepped meal that hit the spot. The peanut butter chili dumplings were a good but between me and you ( a kick up in spiciness would have led me to rate them higher than good) But I get it, they could have added spices that gave the dish that top notch kick in flavorful heat on the tongue but probably didn't want to go too spicy and risk turning away those of us that are less flavorful heat tolerant Add robots serving food to tables to this night out and you've got an interesting dinning experience that leaves much more to talk anout then the usual dine and dash experience. Definitely worth checking it out even if just once, for the experience but if you're looking for authentic spices, flavors, and aroma I wouldn't send you here. It's more commercial than authentic. Best soup dumplings I have ever had! The unique, strong flavors were delicious to try and unique to other soup dumpling restaurants, as well as the great quality. We had the truffle pork and gourd luffa soup dumplings. The truffle and pork were the standout, we loved them the most. Gourd luffa was more veggies than meat but in a delicious way that we also enjoyed. We also tried some appetizers: scallion pancakes, cucumber salad, and the turnip and ham dish. Scallion pancakes were great and unique, cucumber salad was good, but the turnip and ham dish was strange and not what we were expecting (a little too flavorless and like a bun). LOVE LOVE this spot . Was visiting in the area from California and even I have heard the deliciousness of Nan Xiang from the west coast ! I was so happy that they were down the street from my hotel . Located in a big shopping plaza with plenty of parking . Nan Xiang itself is fairly large restaurant with plenty of seating and have tables for big groups as well . The food here is honestly not super expensive which I was surprised them being Michelin reviewed and all ! First it's really pretty in there the red touches everywhere honestly gives it such a nice vibe in there . Me and my bf got seated right away and were tended to quickly with water and I asked for jasmine tea which came out right away . We already knew what we wanted since I don't eat pork so went with the chicken soup dumplings , pan fried beef dumplings , beef noodles ... OMG everything was sooooo good ! We ate it up ! The staff was so friendly and helpful because it was my first time eating soup dumplings they explained the proper way to eat it and how to open it to let it cool down a bit ... I can't even deal with how awesome the service was here. We were a party of 9 with 5 being kids and 4 adults. We were seated right away and immediately after placing our large order, the food came out within 10 minutes - FRESH AND HOT. Service was obviously amazing - servers came to frequently refill waters and staff provided extra napkins without having to ask- especially seeing 4 toddlers at the table. The place was big and clean with a large window in the back that was a looking glass into the kitchen so you can see the talent behind the making of your soup dumplings. All the food we had was phenomenal. Every dish had its appropriate flavors. My favorite dish of the night with the exception of the soup dumpling was their sweet fish filet. The fish couldn't have tasted more fresh and had the right crunchiness to it, even though it was drenched in sauce ( not in an overbearing kinda way). Their scallion pancakes was hot and crunchy and their pan friend pork buns was perfectly made without the dough being too thick that it overpowered the meat inside. A must try is also the spicy dumplings which wasn't too spicy but just a nice little kick for you to enjoy. I would absolutely come back to this place again and highly recommend coming here! On our way to Atlantic City and decided to stop by the Costco in Cherry Hill. Found Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings on Yelp and decided to give it a try since I have been to the branch in Flushing and found it very good. This location is really nice, spacious and elegantly decorated. The wait staff was really friendly and helpful; and there were enough people working that it wasn't hard to flag down someone if needed. We ordered their signature Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Shanghai Stir-Fried Udon, and Sauteed String Bean with Garlic. Food came out very efficiently; everything was delicious! The dumplings came out piping hot with a lot of tasty juices inside. The noodle soup came with six nice pieces of beef shank which were tender and flavorful. The stir-fried udon was very tasty. I liked that both noodle dishes came with Shanghainess bok choy also. The string bean quality was excellent and was perfectly cooked. At the back of the restaurant is their kitchen and there is a glass window that showcases their dumpling chefs, eight of them! So, wife and I came across this spot via IG and decided to give it a try to see the hype. Let's say, it wasn't disappointing at all. We didn't have any robots serving us, as we had real human servers. Every item we ordered came out in mins, fresh, quality and quantity was amazing. No mess up on the orders either. However, the only complain we had is, we wanted dessert and a lady server decided to drop off the check and when we mentioned we wanted dessert, she apologized and took the check away. Reason I being this up, yes we as customers need to be mindful of the table time and how long we occupy a table as there could be others waiting, but this is also where I love the European restaurant service better. In Europe they don't bring the check until and unless you ask for it - reason being, they don't want you to feel that they are kicking you out. My friend recommended Nan Xiang to me in Flushing, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go to that location when I was there because it was too busy. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that it is a chain and they had one in Cherry Hill and it wasn't too crowded when we went (Sunday ~1:20pm). We ordered the braised beef noodle soup, rice cake with meat, and the original and crab soup dumplings. I preferred the original dumplings more. These soups dumplings are the largest I've ever seen (way bigger than Din Tai Fung) and the spoon they gave us was perfect. The beef noodle soup was okay but not the best I've had before so I would skip it next time. It also only had three slices of beef. I also ordered the mango & lychee green tea and it was delicious! The prices are fairly reasonable; nothing is particularly cheap nor too expensive. The restaurant is big and the bathrooms are very clean. read more

The xiaolongbaos 's wrapper was way too thick, and the orange chicken had such small pieces of chicken and the taste was equal to packaged orange chicken from Costco (where is the Osmananthus flavor?). having just been to taiwan last month, i was on the hunt for a delicious xiao long bao (XLB). this place exceeded my expectations! the size of the xlb here is very good, it holds so much soup in the dumpling. i mix together the sauces of the chili oil, vinegar, and soy sauce with a bit of the provided ginger and carefully land the xlb onto the sauce, and take a small bite from the top to suck out some of the soup, then take a huge bite of the whole thing when the temperature is right. i found this dumpling to be so amazing, with a chewy skin... you could see them being made fresh in the little window in the back! for a side, we absolutely loved the bok choy in garlic sauce. it was cooked in chicken broth or something i believe, with a light flavor and nicely cooked pieces of mild garlic. the bok choy had a great texture. this place boasts a michelin star and i can see why they have it in the first place -- a commitment to quality and great flavor! xlb here is amazing,, will have to come once more before i leave home for the west coast :} read more

Just as you wouldn't want REAL Mexican food, you really, really wouldn't want REAL Chinese food. Nan Xiang, for better or for worse, is the real deal. The Shanghai flavors are... odd... to us; cinnamon and nutmeg on the meats. Gushy dumplings that are tricky to eat with chopsticks. The tea is a sort of jasmine, but not what we're used to, not even what I had in China. If you want that authenticity, go to Nan Xiang. Otherwise, stick to your local Chinese place. read more

I came around 11:30 AM on a Saturday and there weren't that many people there. I was able to be seated immediately and my server was so attentive (as well as the rest of the staff here), they took such good care of me! I had the chicken & shrimp siu mai, which was the absolute favorite, it had so much flavor and it needed no help from soy sauce or the chili oil, it was a standout dish for me. I also had the nan xiang soup dumplings, which were incredibly juicy and flavorful. I will admit there was a little too much dough to meat ratio, but probably to hold all that soup! Finally, I had the boiled shrimp, pork and chive dumplings. Again, incredible flavor and taste. I will say here that the dough to meat ratio was off, the dough was incredibly thick. That being said, you can tell it's homemade by the way it's made and the way it tastes. The dough tastes exactly like my dad's dumplings! The ube dessert dumplings, however, left much to be desired -- just doughy and bland. The service wasn't great, though. Our waiter was friendly, but he came by only once after our food was served, and it took ages to flag him down to order dessert and then ages more to get the bill. But overall a good experience. Hands down the BEST Xiaolongbao ever including the over rated Din Tai Fung! The other dish which may even edge out the Xiaolongbao was the black pepper beef. It had great flavor and the beef was so tender without being weird, for those who go to Chinese restaurants know what I'm talking about. We also had the crispy noodles with seafood and the Shanghai siu mai which I would not recommend because it was mostly glutinous rice. Wow this place is fabulous! The interior is high end and has the feel of luxury. The staff is super helpful and can answer any questions. The food is great.
