The City Buffet was by far one of the best we've ever been to. It appears brand new and is squeaky…read moreclean. The lighting is bright and everything grabs your attention. The service was prompt, we never had an empty or low glass. We also never had a dirty empty plate sit more than a few seconds. They had the largest selection of sushi we've seen at a buffet, and everything was labeled. The hibachi was really good too, pick out what you want and a chef cooks it for you. The Chinese was very good as well.

This place looked great and had good reviews so I was very disappointed with the food. Walking in,…read moreit was clean with high ceilings, classical music playing and backlit walls. All very impressive. Not too busy on Friday at 11:30 am but it got busier. Service for drinks was very attentive but almost everyone i saw just got water. I asked about Japanese drinks and the waiter said we go to the front and grab those out of a fridge. On to the food. I started with the sushi of which there was a very large selection of both sashimi and sushi rolls, including several different toppings. I was bitterly disappointed that the taste of the sushi was not good. In fact, I could not even eat it except for the fried items which were good, although not really hot. I'm a little embarrassed to say that I did stuff a couple pieces of sushi in a napkin so that it didn't look so wasteful but really I could not eat it. Unfortunately this was my daughter's first time trying sushi so still not sure if she likes it. Onto the other hot dishes, the Asian food such as general Tso chicken, chicken with mushrooms, and beef with peppers was all very good. However, the fried rice just had some color and onion in it, no egg, no carrots, no peas. And the noodles were very basic but edible. The spring roll was very mushy again could not finish that. At this point, I was kind of over trying to find things that I liked and decided to end with some ice cream. There were just little cups of ice cream three different flavors and this was honestly the best part of my meal. My daughter tried three little cakes and she said they were excellent. I'm not sure about the salads and the fried American foods they had but overall I would just say the quality wasn't something I would go back for. There were people that had been there before, seemed like regulars and even had reward card to punch so maybe certain palletes enjoy it. I do think that the Asian protein dishes were the best part for me but not worth a return trip.

It's Friday. Paid $30 at a parking garage because it's ComFest weekend. Ugh. There were 2 people there. The bartender and a guy at the bar. The music was excruciatingly loud. I couldn't hear her and told her so. Then I heard they were doing things differently and something about hibachi. I then asked if they would accept my voucher. She took it to the bar guy, came back with it and said something I couldn't hear. I said so. She was informed they could not accept it. I declined to stay. It was disappointing since I made a special trip but even more annoying to not hear because of the music. Why stay open 2 more days? There were no customers and it's ComFest. And why not accept the voucher? Goodbye. Forno received my business.

The sign said to seat yourself and we did. 15 minutes later there was no sign still of the wait staff. Finally we got the attention of someone who told us they were having staff problems and problems with the chef. That should have been our warning sign. Our order was for the pad thai, two sushi rolls, and poppers. The poppers were undercooked. The PadThai was made without the ingredients being mixed through and it was so salty that we couldn't finish it. the sushi rolls were kind of bland and the fried portions of the rolls were soggy. The raw fish in the sushi rolls was warm which made me wonder if I was going to spend the evening in urgent care. We were comped one of the appetizers but it couldn't make up for the missteps along the way. Piece of advice: if your staff is not organized and on board, don't open. The damage that can be done to your reputation isn't worth the one night of lost revenue. I wish it had been better but it made my last night in Columbus a bit disappointing.

Is not hard to find if you just follow your GPS, but if you just want to look for it, is kinda hidden, is behind the famous Waffle House. lol I went around 7pm on the weekdays, only maybe 3 cars parked outside. I'm not really sure they super slow on the weekdays or taken it easy day for them. What I mean by that you may ask? Well, when I walked in, I felt like they just open or they about to close, because after you at the counter, only the left side of the restaurant have lights on, on the right side the light is off, that's what I mean felt like they just open but not yet have all their lights turn off, or about to close, but I honestly think weekday is slow days for them, maybe? Anyway, the server which I only saw one, she really nice. There 2 different menus, one is the regular lunch and dinner Chinese restaurant menu, another smaller one is the dim sum, , not the full dim sum menu, maybe have 10-12 items I ordered the Beef Chow Fun, also on the dim sum menu is the Shrimp Rice Noodle. The Shrimp Rice Noodle is not one of the best, actually I think the dim sum here is not very good, I felt that they just giving the customer another options. The Beef Chow Fun is very good, so far I tried is one of the best in Columbus. I'm giving it 4 stars, will definitely Give it a try if you can just ignore half restaurant being close. lol

And boy is this place teenager friendly! Not because it is filled with teenagers but because the portions are enormous and can either fill that kid's hollow leg or be plenty for lunch for you the next day. So for most mere mortals this is a 2 for 1 meal deal. With all the selection does come a little chaos in terms of being overwhelmed by the options, not necessarily knowing you order sushi at a separate register than the other options, and the general crowd milling about waiting for pickup. As they clearly do a lot of take out. We have done both dine-in and take out. Dine-in is utilitarian and functional (and the outside porch can be a little less crazy) but it is not where you go to have a quiet, intimate dinner. The sound of the kitchen, the crowds, and the TVs mean there is an underlying soundtrack. So definitely a go to for quick, for wide set of choices, for prodigious portions, and for good functional food.
