You can never go wrong with Nando's. My friends and I took a study break to grab lunch here and we got assisted with immediately even though it was prime lunch hours. You order your food and go to your respective table and food is brought out to you. Easy as that. Highlights of Nando's are the chicken skewers and their whole chicken (recommend to share between two people). I love their mashed potatoes as the side. Service was a little spotty the day I went because one of my friend's food ended up at a different table so he had to wait extra long for his food to come out. Other than that, no complaints. Was so excited to try this place for the first time. Ordered a meal to go and just wanted a drink while we waited. The staff member working the front counter was so rude. Your restaurant was filthy and she kept emphasizing how they couldn't give us an inside table just to have a drink. We were fine to sit outside while we waited. However the only reason there were no inside tables was because nothing had been bussed and nothing new had been bussed in the 20-30 min that were there. People came of the mall walk way and just helped themselves to sit at the patio. Meanwhile we were immediately yelled at to leave because we'd ordered our food to go and I wanted to try a bite before we left. Something to balance out the drink. We were immediately told to leave because we couldn't eat to go food there on the patio because it was someone's tables. While I totally would understand that again random people were sat outside that we saw walk up sit down and never order. There was trash on the majority of the other tables not sat and still there were emotional tables. I haven't even tried the food and just want to throw it out as this experience left nothing but the taste of disappointment. read more

The customer service here is A plus, so exceptional! They happily explained the ordering process and were very accommodating upon ordering. They even walked around offering drink refills. Very nice. My daughter and I came here for a lunch date and I already knew it would be all about the chicken. Obviously. My eight year old gleefully ordered a half chicken meal "plainish" with garlic bread. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the portobello and halloumi cheese wrap with sides being "chips" and red skin mashed potatoes. My daughter loved, loved, loved her meal! The portion was huge, although she ended up eating the entire thing(she loves meat). Her garlic bread was delicious, and I was happy I was able to partake in my stolen sneak bites. Now, my wrap? No good. It was warm and fresh, but there must have been a total of 4 small pieces of portobello in the whole, small thing. Thankfully, there was adequate cheese to compensate. Then halfway through there was just hard, folded over wrap without anything in it. For the money charged it was not worth it. The chips and mashed potatoes were flavorful, though. I understand this is a chicken focus restaurant, but you've gotta throw vegetarians some kind of bone. Also, please don't forget to provide cups for trying the sauces. Nando's was really great. The #1 item they deliver is exception customer service that comes with a healthy dose of smile. When it comes to the food the chicken is prepared wonderfully. The prices are not bottom-of-the-barrel, but you are getting meat that *isn't* pumped full of stuff to make it unnaturally hefty. The flavor reflects the care they take in preparing it. The fries and desserts that we tried were quite tasty as well and frankly all of the sides looked really good. As for the Peri-Peri sauce there are a ton of options. I almost wish there was a handle having 6-pack or something to help take them all to the table because I'm the type of person who can't decide and wants to try them all. That said - while they all have their own special thing they aren't all so different. Once you visit once and find one that you like you can have your chicken prepped with the sauce on it... though it is good to take some for dipping fries as well. The "waiters" are there to help and I really can't get past how awesome the service was - they ask if you need anything and really want you to leave a happy customer. Great work Nando's! read more

What a terrible experience. We have been to Nandos before so our first confusion occurred when, despite many open tables both inside and out, the host told us it would be a 10 minute wait and wanted a cell number to reach us when our table was ready. Since you normally order at the counter and your food is served, we didn't understand the reason for the wait but gamely played along. 30 minutes later and still no text. I went back to the host stand to check in only for a different dude to tell me he could seat me immediately and had no idea why we'd been told there was a wait. I asked if we should order at the counter but he said no as he lead us to our table. He said someone would take our order and bring our food. I joked that things had changed. We sat there for 10 minutes with zero acknowledgement and finally said screw this and left. No excuse for the abysmal service. read more

This chicken place ran out of chicken? Yep it's shocking but true. Decided to treat my family to a great lunch at Nando-didn't happen. We ordered 3 skewers and a avocado wrap. The young girl at the counter told us they only had enough chicken for one skewer Even the food was unsatisfactory. Had to switch from a skewer yo a 2/2 chicken plate. The love I have for the bird they serve is intense, dudes. This place is so warm and welcoming, great location right next to AMC upper level, the flame grilled chicken is the moistest with several sauce options and the most delicious Portuguese tumeric rice and cole slaw. That's what we got - a whole chicken (quartered) with rice and slaw and two fountain drinks. We were in heaven. I felt like I was at my moms house eating her home cooking (but I was with my mom!). This restaurant has always been a favorite of mine! It's always delicious! I usually get the boneless chicken breast with medium sauce and fries. The peri sauce is so good!! I also usually get corn on the cob as well. This time they didn't have it (I'm assuming due to season/supply) and got the garlic bread. It was good, but not amazing. We are on a strict paleo diet so eating out can be a real challenge. After a couple hours of tiring shopping we chose Nando's peri peri to lunch at. We ordered the half chicken "plain-ish peri peri sauce" with Portuguese rice plus a side of Brussel sprouts. It must have been my low expectations but we savored every bit of the chicken. It was indeed extremely delicious and so was the regular side of Portuguese rice. This will be my go to place whenever shopping in Oak brook center. Price was OK. The one star I took off was for the side of Brussel sprouts. It was $4.70 and I wouldn't have paid a $ for it had I known it was chewy and dry. Overall a great experience for the price. read more

I can consistently count on Nando's for a quick and relatively healthy meal. I always order the portobello mushroom & halloumi wrap with xtra hot Peri-Peri (it is the best of the 3 vegetarian offerings) and a side of vegetables. Previously, I would order the brussel sprouts, but they disappeared from the menu a while back (tears). The roasted vegetables are a decent alternative, and the cucumber and poppy seed salad isn't horrible either. Their setup is similar to Panera's, where the meal is paid for at the counter and a wooden number is taken to the corresponding table (dinnerware is left on the table after dining). I didn't get to read much on their mission statement, but I could tell that there was real effort and heart put into the restaurant (and franchise I realize as I'm writing this review and reading others). Cleanliness and service were perfect, nothing to complain about there either. As pertaining to more current events, they've adapted readily to COVID regulations and have managed to maintain a productive flow without any hindrances to their service or quality. I love places like Nando's. The food is good, ambience is right, and service is punctual. That being said, this was my first time at Nando's, and first time trying Peri-Peri chicken, and boy was it good. Peri-Peri chicken is simply roasted chicken with a slice blend including the bird's eye chili. We ordered the half chicken plate with seasoned french fries, chicken livers with grilled corn, and a Portuguese egg tart. The chicken was juicy, well seasoned, and had a kick from the spice rub. The fries were good and came with "Peri-nnaise", their seasoned mayo (10/10 would recommend). It's hard to find chicken livers like this, so we went for it and they did not disappoint. They were juicy, seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. You can't go wrong with grilled corn! After you order, you can go to the island in the middle of the shop and choose from a few different Peri-Peri sauces. We tried the lemon and herb, garlic, and hot sauces. The lemon went well with the liver. The Portuguese egg tart is something I have experience with, and well, it was pretty good here! It comes with cinnamon sugar on top, which I felt was unnecessary. Nandos is one of my favorite restaurants. period. But as I've visited many around the world I've come to know that not all are created equal. Today was my first time at the Oakbrook location as they are only one month old and I have to say I was very happy with my visit. Per the regular Nandos standard the ambiance is absolutely beautiful bright and inviting. All of the staff that help me were smiling friendly and genuinely happy seeming. My food came hot quick and as delicious as ever. Perfectly cooked chicken a beautiful array of vegetables and the signature Nando's Peri Peri sauce, perfection. This Nandos is located on the second floor of the Oakbrook center mall in the new area called the district, directly next to the new AMC theater. There is easy access via escalators near the nordstroms entrance. If you have not tried at Nandos that I highly recommend it! read more

Portion sizes are extremely small. I ordered a chicken sandwich and the breast filled up less than half for the sandwich. The fries that came with it probably had 5-10 fries. I also ordered a rice bowl that had three tiny pieces of chicken it. And to top it of, I had a cheesecake that was a tiny amount. I am pretty disappointed considering how much I spend on the order. I wasn't filled up with either the Standish or the rice bowl. I will not be going again. Despite, going several times previously hoping it was just a one off. read more

We tried Nando's for the first time. The thing I love most was the service was absolutely stellar at this location! The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and wanted. My husband and I both got sandwiches. Mine was the chicken breast on garlic bread and I got a side of the rice. The chicken was delicious but otherwise my meal was good but nothing to rave about. My husband's sandwich had the chicken thigh meat and that was delicious! His side of mashed potatoes was just OK and my brownie was really not very good. One cool thing is they have a dole dessert soft serve machine here if you're into that stuff! I'm from LA and we don't have any Nando's locations here so I knew when I first visited Chicago, I had to try it here. My friends and I didn't really know what to expect but I ended up ordering their Peri-Peri chicken bowl since it was a Nando's favorite. We also tried pretty much all their sauces since they were all out for you to try. I think my favorite sauce was the extra hot sauce. I tried the extra extra hot sauce but it wasn't that spicy and it was pretty tolerable but I still liked how it tasted. The chicken was very tender and I really liked the Portuguese rice with it as well. I can't wait until they start making some locations over in this area. But if I'm ever in Chicago or Washington DC, I'd definitely get some Nando's again! read more

This place is good, although I don't think it's hype worthy good. I don't get why people are going bananas. The place was slightly confusing coming in, there was a guy standing up front to explain to us what to do, but he was quick and I didn't pick up on anything. He really didn't explain the menu as I thought he would. The food isn't bad, they have a bunch of sauces you can put on your chicken and they have extra on the side. I had the Lemon Herb sauce on my chicken breast and had the butternut squash with cranberry. The wait can take up to 15 min, I'm assuming they cook every chicken order to order which is good, but chicken takes a while to cook. I will try this place again, but again, not hype worthy. I just discovered peri peri chicken and South African cuisine earlier this year so it's all new to me but I definitely dig it. Flavorful, healthy and hearty? Count me in! We stopped at Nando's for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and no surprise, it was pretty packed. The concept is a bit confusing if you don't know whats going on. You walk in, get assigned a table #, sit, decide, walk back up to the counter, tell them your table # (why, I don't know when they give you a sign with the number that matches a number on the table), wait and they bring you your food. I got the quarter chicken with cole slaw and mashed peas. Everything was delicious but they forgot my mashed peas side and we had to flag them down for it. I totally get it being a little late but no one ever followed up with us and we had to chase someone down. The tables around us seemed to have the same issue and really, it came down to the employees. They all looked miserable and apathetic, I guess the whole taking-pride-in-your-job doesn't fly here because no one smiled or seemed happy to help. Wow! Now, that's some GREAT chicken! I've been a little disappointed with the chicken options in my area. There are a few decent chicken places within a few miles of me, but none of them are great. There are two or three great chicken options that are a bit further away. Nando's is among the great places of chicken, and - mercifully - one of their locations is actually somewhat closer to me. I keep thinking about how perfectly they prepared my half-chicken. The meat was so tender, and every bite was seasoned thoroughly. The skin was perfectly crisped, with extra seasoning on the outside. Every bite was excellent, and all of the sides I tried were fresh and delicious. I got to eat just before the lunch rush, and our food was served quickly. Watching the lunch rush pour in, I was impressed that they seemed to keep up just fine. They have a lot of flavor options. I got to try a few of their sauces, and every one was unique and tasty. I was also happy that their hottest sauce was genuinely hot - even for my seasoned palate. Good thing they had that Freestyle drink machine, with all of the flavor options, to help wash down the fire in my mouth. I'm looking forward to hitting the other Nando's Peri-Peri chicken locations. This visit ranked among my top chicken dinners. As a chicken fanatic, I'm happy that I now have another great chicken option to add to my list of go-to restaurants! read more

Pricey, Pricey is more like it... I think the flavors were good, but the portions were rather small and were not represented well by the menu pics. We ordered the Wing platter with 2 sides. The wings were tasty but tiny. They must use little chickens! We did the hot flavor which was not hot, but maybe they could be described as savory. The sides were Rice and Macho Peas which were both tasty, but small servings and almost not enough to share. In addition, we ordered the chicken livers in lemon and herb and they were delicious, but for $11.00 bucks I could buy a bunch of livers and feed the whole family from the grocery store. The seasonings were great, but again...Spendy! Lastly, the packaging seems whimsical and makes little serving plates with lids. They are hard to eat out of because the lids keep snapping closed. Dump your take out order on a regular plate for a more pleasurable experience... Nandos in OakBrook mall I wasn't greeted by anyone. Stood there while everyone chatted it wasn't busy .After standing there for at least 7 minutes and them looking at me, finally someone decided to take my order. I noticed only one employee washed their hands and used gloves. I watched as an employee came in from outdoors touched food and counters without washing their hand and no gloves. The cooked walked into the back to chat with other employee and didn't wash his hands several times. The hand wash station is out front he didn't go near it. I asked why doesn't he wash his hand or put on gloves. Why only one employee following Covid protocols. The manager gave me several excuses. Then the rest of the employee started running to washing their hands and put on gloves. They washed their hands and remade my food. My favourite restaurant in Oak Brook. I know that's a bold statement since there are so many great places to eat in the area, but if I'm considering food quality, taste, and price...it wins. Delicious grilled chicken with amazing sauces is great, but pair that with fresh, tasty sides, and you got a winner! I love the mild and garlic sauces. As far as sides go, get the fries (with mayo dipping sauce) and cole slaw. The peas are good too, and it's hard to find peas as a side anywhere. Handwashing stations and help yourself sauce station are very convenient. Staff is friendly and helpful. Music and decor are on point. Go get some chicken! read more

YESSS Nando's thank you for coming to Oakbrook! I've heard such good things about this restaurant and decided to try it relatively soon after it opened. They have such a large menu with different levels of hot, but of course I had to get the chicken hot. I also had the side salad as well as the grilled corn on the cob. The chicken was so moist, so delicious, but could have been hotter (hey, I mean, didn't want to go too crazy on the first try, but next time will definitely got spicy)! I walked in, ordered my food, and waited about 20 minutes for it to come out. The restaurant is very nice inside, and the staff is extremely friendly. The sauces are always loaded with flavor as well and adds just the right amount of kick to your dish, depending on which one you use. Omgosh! What delicious flavors! Great place to dine for lunch or dinner. The food was delicious and so flavorful. They have like 10 diff sauces. I love when restaurants offer wide variety. The lemon and wild herb were my favorites. I had the chicken breast sandwich and it was perfect. The rice it came with was too good not to share. I offered a taste to everyone at the table who didn't have it already. The restaurant was clean and in a great location in the food court area of oakbrook. AND they have a freestyle machine.
