I ordered a cappuccino and a crepe (I think I literally ordered this exact thing in Paris a couple years ago ha). It was a perfect spot for people watching. I don't know what Firestone or Car and Driver thinks of this place, although the latter would probably not love it since it's not a BMW. All joking aside, if you consider yourself a foodie, then the 12 Course Menu Degustation is a multi-course bucket list item that's somewhat attainable. I've read horror stories of booking other high-end eateries, but take a shot here and you may get lucky. They happened to have a ton of reservations the week before Christmas, so we were lucky. I will say if you're doing a wine pairing, you may not want to get a cocktail beforehand when you're waiting for your table in the lounge. I had a Gin and Tonic and it was huge and blew away the Ultimate G&T by Jose Andres. But the wine pairing with the meal is a LOT of wine and you'll be tipsy unless you're a descendent of Oscar Wilde. Once the experience begins, you'll be amazed at everything that's happening. Service is impeccable with multiple staff members tending to your every need. I'll say even if you think you may not like something, try it and you might surprise yourself. I never truly liked any caviar before eating it here. With that being said, beets are still beets no matter how you slice them. :) It's expensive, but totally worth it in my opinion. I think they have other dining options besides the extravaganza deluxe, but I didn't really pay attention. It was also a phones away event (my idea) for full enjoyment, although a few dishes were so beautiful I was tempted to reach into my pants... for my phone... to clarify. There is a dress code so be sure to comply. For guys, I would recommend a jacket or a tie with dress pants/shoes. For ladies, I'd recommend micro-skirts and crop tops, but I don't think they do... so a nice dress or blouse with appropriate pants/shoes would probably suffice. Being one of the few Michelin starred restaurants in vegas I figured we would be in for an incredible time. Customer service was about as exceptional as you would hope it would be. The woman seating us did inform us that where we were sitting does typically experience a draft and might be cold, and that they had accommodations (likely a jacket or similar). She was right it did border on uncomfortably cold, however we just tolerated it. The rest of the staff was great, they explained things well, were quick, kept our counter area clean, and our drinks filled. No complaints here. The restaurant itself feels similar to alot of other higher end restaurants with the very dim almost dark atmosphere, it was clean and well kept. Prior to arrival I did not know we would be sitting at a bar style counter which was most certainly not the vibe I was looking for to celebrate with each other, as you are seated right next to other people on either end and the bar counter feels very cramped once you get dishes coming and going. We did not care for this setup, it was said to be this way as an experience watching the kitchen staff prepare your food. From our seats and angle mainly the only thing we could see was the one guy whipping the potatoes all evening. We had ordered the 9 course tasting menu for $255 per person. I requested the seafood to be substituted which they were able to accommodate, she ordered hers as it comes normally. The first thing we received was the bread, which despite looking very aesthetic it felt like nothing more special than anything you would receive at a mid tier chain restaurant, and there are some chains with bread I prefer over this. First course was a layered foie gras foam, I know this is strong but we both absolutely hated it and felt it set a terrible tone for the meal. Second for me was a take on a salad tomato with guacamole and other veggies with a sauce, her second was a small glass with caviar and lobster, these were both fine. Third was a corn themed soup that I found to be very good, the presentation, and flavor was top notch. Her third was a friend wonton type of langoustine. She said it was good but nothing special. Fourth up for me was a soft boiled egg with cheese crisps, and for her a scallop in some kind of sauce or foam, she said this was the best course of the evening. I thought mine was boring, bland, and underwhelming although it looked nice. Fifth was a foie gras ravioli for both of us, we both disliked this dish. Sixth was quail legs stuffed with foie gras for me, and a salmon or branzino dish for her. They told me mine was a house specialty, I thought it was bland, under seasoned, and generally unappealing. Again she said hers was good but nothing outstanding. Seventh was the main entree, you get to select this from a choice of 3, we both picked the ribeye. I understand this is not a steakhouse but for a main entree at a Michelin restaurant, it was disappointing to say the least, meat was on the tougher side and undercooked from how we ordered it, the flavor was good though. The famous mashed potatoes had an insane texture but the flavor was mediocre just tasting like a stick of butter. 8th and 9th were the dessert courses, first was a tart cherry sorbet, and second was a complex yuzu ice cream dish. She really enjoyed the cherry tart one, and I thought the yuzu one was the star of the entire evening. I would return solely to get that, it was absolutely spectacular. We were gifted a trio of little pieces slice desserts, all three were good but not as special as the yuzu dessert. The final thing we were given was 2 macarons to go. I ended up thinking the macaron was my second favorite thing I ate all night. It is a shame we spent as much as we did for my favorite bites to both be desserts. Also after leaving she had mentioned that it bothered her that none of the dishes were hot and only room temperature at best, I did not notice until she had said it. In summary for as much as we paid, there were very few standout dishes, and we both left fairly disappointed having had just a few good bites of food while sitting at a cold, and unpersonal bar to celebrate. Maybe it was an off night but with prices like this, that to me would be unacceptable. Most of the dishes we had felt unimpressive, bland, and just relatively uninteresting, the most interesting thing about some of the dishes was the waiters ability to memorize the descriptions. If you have money to splurge on things like this frequently, I would recommend you try it as your experience may be better than ours. However if this meal is an extremely special or once in a lifetime type of meal, I would unfortunately recommend you find somewhere different.

Ohlala has such an elegant, inviting atmosphere, with beautiful chandeliers and a cozy French bistro feel. It's located on Rampart and Lake Mead, near Starbucks. We arrived at 11:00 for brunch, and by 11:30 the restaurant was alive and bustling. One of my favorite things about Ohlala is that the owner always comes out to greet guests at their tables. He makes everyone feel welcome and takes the time to check that everything is going well--a personal touch that really makes a difference. This visit, I had a cappuccino and the traditional French toast, which comes with honey, syrup, and whipped cream. The crust was perfectly crisp while the center practically melted in my mouth. Absolutely delicious! They have a great menu with plenty of options, and whether you're looking for brunch, lunch, or dinner, Ohlala is definitely worth a visit!

The food was delicious!! I did the Le Brunch offering, which is a multi course menu for $85. Bring your appetite, because it is all delicious and they give you so much food! Their pastries and bread are heavenly and such good quality. I would have gotten seconds of all the baguettes and pastries if I had any room to put it all! You're allowed to take as many pastries as you want. There were many different kinds as well, not just the ones in my picture. The inside of the restaurant is also bright and cheery and it really feels like you're on vacation when dining in here. My favorite courses were the chefs pastries, burrata with tomatoes and baguette, and the skirt steak with scrambled eggs. Definitely try the Le Brunch because you get to try so many kinds of dishes for what I think is a reasonable price, considering what it would cost if you ordered it all separately. For his chicken, I believe he was expecting a bigger piece than what he got. For my steak and fries it was done wonderfully. As I was halfway eating my steak and fries, they brought out the dessert! I'm looking at the time and it was still 9 something it wasn't even past closing time yet. I definitely felt like I was rushed. The worst part about it is that my dessert was the chocolate lava cake with ice cream. By the time I was done with my dinner and got to the dessert the ice cream was melted everywhere! From the moment you arrive they make you feel welcome and special - the captains and servers are constantly checking in and ensuring you have everything you need. This is truly an intimate and unique place and I'm sad they're going away. We each ordered the four-course "choose your own adventure" menu and every item was excellent. Super fresh seafood enhanced with delicate flavors. My wife had forewarned our server from the get go that she's very picky and not at all adventurous (she's team chicken breast all the way lol). He replied no problem and they proceeded to customize each course to remove any and all "offensive" items (i.e. truffles, mushrooms, seafood, anything with flavor etc.). I especially loved the loup de mer served over a Pinot noir reduction as well as the wagyu filet. The desserts are all delicious and they provide a complete petit fours tower at the end of the meal as well. Dinner for two came to $721 before tax and tip - obviously this is a special occasion restaurant but if you have the means and can make it out there before they close I highly recommend it. That total included a four-course wine pairing for me as well as two pre-dinner cocktails.
