After a good 3 weeks or so of putting the tweezing on hold (as a result of being told by a brutally honest eastern European brow woman who literally said "Your brows are too thin... I can't do anything with these!"), the brows were getting just a bit too close to the Amazonian look for my liking. I decided to stop by Nanu to get them cleaned up a bit because god only knows what would happen if I had the tweezers back in my hand. It was a bit quiet as there weren't any other customers at the time and I was greeted by the only lady in the place upon coming in. Turns out I lucked out since the lady was Anje. I told her I was in the process of growing the brows out and just wanted them cleaned up a bit. She totally understood and started to get to work. I swore that considering how painful it was (I was literally tearing up and had to stop her midway to a little Kleenex break) that she was threading literally all my work (yes, it's a job to NOT want to tweeze) that's been the culmination of 3 weeks of not plucking... but no. Anje cleaned up the mess and thankfully made me look more presentable to society and less like a geico caveman. I did try to ask for that frequent threading card (after seeing the promo here on yelp)... she said they ran out. Kinda weird considering that the promo only went up like 2 days before I went in, but regardless, I'll probably be coming back. To experience more pain. Can't. Wait. read more

I'm glad to say I'm a repeat customer now even though my go-to lady doesn't seem to remember me. She still gives me excellent service and she is so thorough with all her work. And though the lotion is probably not face lotion grade, I think it's still worth it for the soothing eyebrow massage. Wait or ask for the Anje, aka the lady in Chair #1. I have a friend who goes here and highly recommended it so I decided to try it out. Apparently everyone who goes here loves Twinkle. Luckily she was working the day I went! Twinkle was great, gentle and fast! No issues and best part was I had a check-in offer for first time customers ($7 instead of $9 for brows). I goto Happy Nails usually right after I go get my threading,and in the past few times, when I got threaded at other places, the ladies at Happy Nail always offered me 'we do threading.. we do it for yu'. but this time after my threading at Nanu I went to Happy Nails, and for the first time ever I hear those very critical vietnamese ladies compliment me on my eye brows! My new favorite place to get my eyebrows threaded! I used to go to the place over at UTC (Sutra Threading Salon) all the time, until the one of the ladies gave me cuts under my eyebrow while threading. You can check out my review over there, and needless to say, I won't ever be returning there again. This place, on the other hand, great and friendly service, and they're quick (without cutting you)!! My eyebrows came out clean and polished, which is how they're supposed to come out afterwards. I came here when they FIRST opened and I haven't return until recently! Let me tell you, I came here with a GED and finally returned with a Bachelors! Hahah! Yeah, its been THAT long! Yes, I did maintain my brows within those 4 years by plucking and letting my friend master her threading skills on me. :) Back then, I believe it was only $4 for both freaking eyebrows! I called and asked how much is a Brazilian waxing, and the person answering the phone said $35. I saw on yelp if you check in then you get $5 off your Brazilian waxing. So I came in and it is my first time getting a Brazilian wax. I have read about getting waxed so I asked for wipes, because first thing the staff here tells you to do when you get in the room is to take off your pant and panties. So I wiped myself clean and then laid down. The staff here tries to make a conversation with me, but I can totally tell she had no interest in hearing anything from me. She just wanted to get my mind off of things, so that was nice of her I guess. I just didn't feel it was personable and it really hurts too. The girl giving me the waxing was quick about everything, but that really hurts a lot. I thought I read that if you get a Brazilian and there is still hair, then they'll tweeze it. She said they don't do it here. So I mean, a cleaner kitty than before and I got what I paid for. Except when I went to pay, the lady at the front said it costs $40 and I showed her my $5 off when checking in. She asked me if I'm a new customer and I said yes (I even wrote yes on the question on paper). So she charged me $35. With tips I guess $39 was worth it, I can't do this myself. I just thought I would only have to pay $30... I'll definitely try groupon next time, since it's probably more professional people. Especially since they require appointments and charge more. I had a horrible experience at another threading salon in Orange County, so I had been letting my eyebrows grow out for awhile so that I could get them re-shaped and re-arched. I think I might have let it go a little too much because I'm pretty sure Oscar the Grouch and I had matching eyebrows. I popped in to Nanu after reading some glorious yelp reviews. I came in at lunch time and did not need an appointment at all. I was in and out within 15 minutes. I was seated right away and had Madu doing my eyebrows. I told her exactly what I wanted (good arch, not too thin, and evened out) and she went right to work. She was really gentle an did not break a thread once or put me in any pain. It was pretty fantastic! At the end of the session, she put astringent on my eyebrows and gave me a mini eyebrow/temple massage that was greatly appreciated. Pros: -No waits -Clean Shop (very mom and pop) -Friendly threading ladies who listen to what you want Cons: -Parking in that center is just plain deadly... I've been going to this place to see Madu on a regular basis, about 1-2 times a month, for the past year and a half. She really helped even out my eyebrows after I downright failed with my crappy tweezers in college. Everything's been nice and even and tidy ever since :) I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes, and have always been welcomed with a smile. Madu's really talented with the thread and $9 is a steal, given the quality of the service that you get in return. Highly recommended. read more

I have had nothing but good experiences here! It is close to Ziba (with some of the same girls that use to work at Ziba), it is cheaper and there is usually no wait at all! They also give you a frequest "threader" card-you get the 10th threading for free! They have always done a great job on my brows. I've always came here as a walk-in and they're super fast. Yet they always do a very thorough job. This was actually the first time I tried threading, and I don't think I can go back to waxing anymore. Threading is really fast and gets out every single, stubborn, hair. Naturally, I have pretty terrible eyebrows. I've struggled with shaping them since middle school. They grow in super weird and different from the norm, so people have trouble figuring out how to least awkwardly shape them. However, at Nanu, I got no comments about how weird they are. They just did their thing, and I walked out with normal eyebrows. I am taking off a star because of their poor waxing services... I got a brazilian wax here once ($35) because it's just too damn cheap. However, you get what your pay for. I'll spare you the gruesome details, but if you want to keep your skin in tact, go elsewhere for that. read more

I used to go to Ziba's for all my threading needs, and now I'll never go back after finding Nanu. A girlfriend and I came here hoping to find some better quality 'brows than Zibas and given the Yelp reviews, thought we'd give it a shot. I had Navi, she had someone else. Navi is simply awesome. She really pays attn to the shape of your brow and unless you ask for different, won't go all thread-crazy on you. Afterward, she'll ask if you want a massage, and my response "YES!" Make *sure* you say yes, cuz that TLC is what you need after some crazy beauty maneuvers. She massages your brows after she thread and plucks them. Then trims them down to ladylike status. After this, I went to a Ziba's about 3 weeks later. And I miss Navi! Definitely as for this lady when you get your 'brows done; no regrets! read more

I got my Legs waxed, only to come home and discover the lady left a good area undone on one side! I do NOT think this place is great! Been coming here for over 5 years. Tina is nowhere near the same skill level as twinkle, but it was cheap because they have been sending out a bunch of coupons to try and keep their customers. I've been coming here for the past few months after hearing about Twinkle and she lives up to the hype! She always gives me a natural eyebrow shape and listens to what I want. Her threading technique is great- quick, consistent, and relatively painless. I also really like her because she is one of the few people who truly matches your eyebrows to the shape of your face. I've never left Nanu with my eyebrows too thin. I've tried a few other threading places in Orange County and the eyebrow artists are never as consistent as Twinkle. I haven't tried going to anyone else at Nanu because I am so satisfied with the way she does my brows. I definitely recommend her! read more

The people there will make sure that you are happy with the results on your eyebrows. Although they work fast, it looks like they are accurate with the results. Outstanding waxing and threading services. The decor is nonexistent, but with such great service and prices, I don't care. Tika is wonderful. She is efficient, works clean and does not rush but does not take forever. The wax used is wonderful; it is very hot but one application is all that is needed to get everything. While waiting to pick up to-go food from Hashigo's Korean Kitchen, I decided to pamper myself a little bit and get threaded. Initially, I wanted to get my eyebrows, sides, and upper lip done but I figured it may be a bit too embarressing if I went back into the restaurant with a full-on blotchy swollen upper lip. Anyways, I took a look at their menu and found that eyebrows were $9 and sides were $8. As I was in the laying down position on the recliner, she informed me that it was $8 for each side. I was like, what the heck (in my head), and told her that I didn't want the sides anymore. She then tried to talk her way into charging me 5 dollars per side to which I said no but then she said 4 bucks each...which I couldn't really say no to since it was originally what I thought it was... So she tried to rip me off. I should have read the reviews before heading here so I would have known the set prices. I am sure they are somewhat negotiable due to this experience. After she finished my right side, she asked me if I still wanted my upper lip done to which I informed her no. She acted like we were done and I fervently asked her if she remembered to do the other side and she was like oh, yeah! :'( Anywho, she did a decent job, tipped her 2 bucks for the services and jet out of there to grab my beloved food next door. Although she didn't put as much love and effort as other threading salons I have went to, my eyebrows were clean and dandy so I was relatively fine with the whole experience. They are really attentive, quick, friendly, and really listen to what you want. You don't need an appointment here and the walk-in is quick. When I tell them that I want my eyebrows to stay thick or I just want a clean up, they really listen to me unlike the other place I've been too. I came in here for my first time to be threaded-- it was about two o clock on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was deserted!! I was approached by Navi who took me right to her chair and got to work. Everything was very quiet-- in this regard, I might instead try Ziba next time. It was almost eerie how quiet it was. Navi got right to work-- I told her that I didn't want them too thin and she got right to threading. Occasionally she would have me hold my skin tight for her and she would wipe away my tears with a tissue. On the tear subject-- it doesn't really hurt THAT bad-- no more than tweezing, a little more than waxing, but less than say, a tattoo. The tears were more of a knee-jerk reaction I guess-- more that my eyes and sinuses were irritated than that it actually hurt. Navi was quick, but not too quick, and she checked with me after the first eyebrow to see if I liked it-- I did. After everything, she asked if I'd like some lotion, and I said yes please! She gave a quick rub on my brows, asked if I'd like my upper lip done as well (no thanks, no hair there!). She gave me a business card for myself, and another-- "for a friend." I paid up front, $8. Love my eyebrows and while I will probably still maintain them myself for the most part, I am definitely converted to this threading trend, and I'll probably stop in once every couple of months to have things spruced up. Keeping this one short and sweet...cheap, quick, and precise. I have been going here since I was a baller on a budget in college. When eyebrow shaping and alcohol was of the utmost importance. I have recently cut back on my eyebrow shaping because of, well, bangs. Which is AWESOME, but when my boyfriend said something looked different on my face, I knew who culprit was, the cray cray furry monsters on my face. Sooo I ran my furry friends over to my trusty weed wacking partners at Nanu. They had me fixed up in a jiffy. If you are wondering if it is painful, it is. But, the thought of having droopy eyebrows at 40 because of waxing seems scarier then 10 minutes of pain. For someone like myself who is allergic to wax, Nanu's Threading is a great alternative. Also a great alternative when one has no clue what they are doing when given a pair of tweezers and a hand mirror (also like myself). It's only $8 for eyebrow threading which is $3 bucks cheaper than the more popular and more well-known Ziba's down the street. Not as fancy as Ziba's, but it's clean and they always have interesting Indian pop music videos playing on TV... or CNN oddly enough (?). I go to Anji with no appointment and it comes out great everytime. She's gentle, takes her time, and doesn't try to up-sell me other services (which can be offensive when someone asks if you want the upper-lip too... what are you trying to say?!). She applies Witch Hazel at the end and it's like a little mini eyebrow massage. =) Would definately recommend over that other chain establishment. read more

She left them too thin, took so much out that she completely erased the arch on my left brow, had never been so disappointed. This review is for the henna tattoo done by Angie. Do yourself a favor and don't go for a henna tattoo at this place. Angie showed me a beautiful design which cost $25 per hand. The design on paper was intricate and the price was fair. Once Angie started applying the henna to my hand, it became very apparent that she had no henna skills. The design on my hand did not resemble the selected the design at all! it looks like something a caveman would draw - crude, uneven lines and spatially just wrong. Needless to say I was not happy that she asking for $25 for each hand. I talked to the manager and said "look at the design and now look at my hand, how is this $25 worth?" I've had my share of bad henna artists where they take too much time and lack in the creativity department, but this was the absolute worst. She could not even copy the design correctly. Even my husband commented on how bad the artistry was. To be fair she did reduce the price to $15 per hand but to be honest the work was not worth more than $5. You know what they say that you get what you pay for.. I don't apply that to MOST things in life but I do apply it to somethings.. Like getting your eyebrows threaded. Its only 11 bucks for eyebrows and upper lip. I was NOT impressed with my eyebrows, it looks like one eyebrow was crooked and she said that it was MY fault. I NEVER EVER pluck my eyebrows cause I would mess them up. She made it sound like it was my fault that she messed up. I wasn't very impressed with my eyebrows once they were done. From the quick look took in the mirror, they looked passable but not impressive. I paid my $9 and was on my way. Later on stuck in traffic I noticed a few giant hairs were sticking out and thought...how could she have missed those. I was a little annoyed I just gave someone $9 and then had to go home and finish it myself. One side was more roundy than the other which was less than festive. Anyhow it's $9 so not the end of the world. Also they didn't completely destroy them, and I still look human, and will be able to fix them in a month when they grow funky again. So, yesterday I was cramming to find a place to get my brazilian wax coz I will be leaving for Miami tomorrow. I went on yelp, for help then I stumbled upon this place, "Nanu" and realized its just right around the corner from where I worked. I called them up and tried to set up an appointment. The person I spoke with said I didn't need to make an appointment and that I could just walk in. So, when I walked in there after work, they immediately accomodated me. The place is fairly-sized and clean. It probably has about 4 or 5 work stations. Navi, ushered me to the back room. She was GOOD, GENTLE and FAST. I have had my brazilian wax done multiple times before and she is one of the best! She did my brazilian in 15 minutes! I did tell her to be fast, so I wouldn't have time to feel the pain, or to scream. Even though she was fast, she still did a very efficient job. I will definitely recommend her to my friends and family. And for the price you pay, ($40), it was all so worth it! read more

I've gone here for threading for the last 3 years, when I first found out about threading. Since then, I've seen the prices for threading steadily rise each year, and just recently, it is now $9 for eyebrows. ): ... that's not too bad a price, but I can find cheaper for equal quality. Their service is inconsistent, but I come about once a month so my eyebrows are like wild bushes every time. I've had great times here (forgot with who), but recently I've had to ask them to tweak it multiple times. My roommate has been going here for awhile, it's her go-to threading place. She invited me and my threading-virgin roommate to go with her. And I am in love! The place was nice and clean, the people who work there are very attentive. I went on a weekday afternoon- no waiting. One of the ladies sat me down and got to work before I could count to 10 she was done! I have done threading before, but I haven't done it in a long long time. I forgot how awesome and better than waxing it was. Nearly pain-free and no sticky left-over goop on your face like waxing. All three of us loved it, and my roommate who had her first time said it was pain-free and loved that it gave her eyebrows some shape she can't achieve from tweezing alone. I needed to get my eyebrows "did" for EDC so I found the YELP announcement for a free eyebrow wax with print out for Nanu. Arrived at 5:30PM on a Friday thinking it'd be packed, but I was the only customer in there when I walked in. Anje was at the front desk so I gave her my coupon but also informed her I wanted a lip wax too. She sat me down and started going at it. Wowzers, threading to me is a bit weird and my eyes started watering but no pain no gain right?. The lips (oh boy the lips, owie!) As I was done, there was a man that was at the front counter and he examined my print out and told me it was $4 (for the cost of the lip threading). I was amazed at how less the swelling is in comparison to when I get my eyebrows/lips waxed. Very nice and friendly staff. The only reason this place is receiving a 4 star review and not a 5 is because everyone here but Twinkle is not very friendly from my experiences. TWINKLE IS AMAZING! She is the only person I allow to touch my eyebrows! She is very gentle (or as gentle as you can be with threading) and never misses a hair. I always get a ton of compliments on my eyebrows and it's all credited to her. The place is very clean and the new receptionist is very nice (the girl before her was very quiet). The prices are as fair as they can be. $9 for eyebrows. The other prices I am not quite sure of as I only do my eyebrows. They also have a stamp card so for every 10 visits you get 1 free threading of your choice! Thank you Twinkle! I always recommend everyone over to her! read more

Warning: Don't be offended if they ask you if you'd like an upper lip threading. Happens all the time. I am a loyal customer who's addicted to threading. They take their time and don't rush the customers, even when there are people waiting, but it's all done within a reasonable amount of time. One of the ladies (who I believe is named Nanu- she signed my card that way) spends a little more time massaging your forehead & it makes my day every time. Including tip, it's only a $10 treat. I've tried Vinita's in Tustin, but I did not feel welcomed & the dumb girl overcharged my credit card. No bueno. Go to Nanu's, avoid any problems. read more
