I had a really disappointing experience at Napleton Chevrolet in Palatine. I brought my car in for routine service, and in the 24 hours they had it, my driver-side mirror was damaged. It was completely fine when I dropped it off. I brought it back as soon as I noticed, but they refused to take responsibility. To make matters worse, they tried to charge me nearly $700 to replace it. After doing some research, I found two other dealerships that quoted me less than half that price for the same repair. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of me, especially as a woman driving a company car. I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any repairs here. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. They wasted my time and then ghosted me! After reading other reviews of the place, it sounds like the entire dealership needs serious training in Customer Service. Jay and Chris were very rude to me, treated me like I was young and naive. They wasted my time for 8 days, to then tell me it would be another 3 weeks before my car would be delivered. They let me waste my time obtaining the GM and first responder discounts to then tell me those discounts aren't stackable. I was driving from Wisconsin border southeast to Oak Brook early one morning. My new Subaru started flashing warning signs of low tire pressure and 'critical failure' (or something like that). I was alarmed. Was scared I wouldn't make it home from Rt. 12 before coming across a source of tire air. I remembered this dealership when I purchased my last Chevy in 2017. My car was shipped from this dealer to the one I purchased it from. LOVED my Chevy Trax! Was visiting my son in Palatine and my SUV didn't start. Had AAA jump me, just so I was able to get my SUV in for a new battery. Called Chevrolet of Palatine, since my exisitng battery was still under warranty. With an hour before closing they were able to install a new battery. Tony Benevice & Dan Piszczek, were extremely professional, personable, and knowledgable. They were ablle to get me in and out in less then an hour and I was able to still enjoy my visit with my son, instead of having to tow my vehicle back to Naperville. I purchased a used car from Chevrolet of Palatine on March 24, 2024. At that time, I bought the smart autocare warranty for $3,800 and was informed that I had 3 months to cancel for a 100% refund (June 24, 2024). Within two weeks, I decided to cancel the warranty. Despite my multiple attempts to contact Bill Archibald, the finance manager, over the past few months, I received no response. When I finally reached someone in the finance department at the dealership, I was informed that I needed to stop by and sign something. When I visited the dealership to cancel the warranty, May 24, 2024, I spoke with Joe Vallejo. He took a copy of our warranty and an odometer reading, assuring me that the refund would be processed the following day. I intentionally asked about signing something or any other requirements for canceling the warranty and I was assured there were none. Joe mentioned that the refund processing would take 6-8 weeks and our loan would be credited. Therefore, we won't know if the refund has been processed until after June 24, 2024, which is past the 100% refund deadline. In addition, I'm paying daily interest on the $3,800 while the credit is pending. We paid cash for the warranty, Bill failed to mention that was a "down payment" and he rolled the warranty into the loan. I even ASKED him point blank about it and he said that's why I'm paying cash because it's separate from the loan. After 4+ hours of being in the dealership, they bank on you being so done you just want to get out of there. And the icing on the cake they only gave us one set of keys as we left. We asked about the second set and they went back to their desk area looking only to realize there is only one set. Only to then say to use we told you before there was only one set. No. No, you absolutely did not say that. I'm just disgusted with how this is all playing out. I have been trying to reach both Joe and Bill for the past week to confirm the status of the refund, but neither has responded. New name, same bull. I was hoping for an improvement from the terribly sexist experience I had previous - it's been almost 6 years and has a new owner! I cautiously tried to go to their website, because there is an open recall on my car (I was reminded by a call from a much further away, amazing Chevy dealer). Their website isn't working today, apparently. So I called, and said there's an open recall, and was asked "so do you want to make a service appointment?" and maybe it's just me... but why else would I be calling? To just inform the front desk guy I have an open recall? I was then transferred to service, and they found me in the records from the 1 time I'd been in 2014. I was asked how many miles were on the car, and I said I didn't know, but that why does the number of miles on my car affect an open recall on the battery (that they themselves sent me a bright orange mailer about?). I can describe the recall, and what it does, and to my knowledge is the only open battery related recall my card has had in 6 years. She said without the mileage, (even though she found my car in the system and called me by my first name), she couldn't find the recall info or schedule an appointment. The only reason I can think to want the mileage was for warranty purposes, but an open recall means it is processed for free, warranty aside. Mileage was not needed by the other dealership (who I haven't been to in at least 2 years), so I know that's horse hockey. TLDR: Stick sucks, may no longer be sexist, but super-duper I'm-driving-my-car-1-hr-away-to-a-halfway(awesome)-dealer-instead. The most recent visit believe it or not is STILL the dreaded Check engine light after all this time. Palatine Chevy are demanding a $2000 + fee for a problem that was there since day one of purchase. Folks, this comes with a warning about purchasing a vehicle from Chevrolet of Palatine. Chris gave me my finance apr and I had communicated to him that I was going to check my credit union rate. The rate Chris gave me was 6.9%, my credit union came in at 4.5%. I told him this last night. I again told him that I was waiting back for a call from credit union. Nothing was said at that time. When I called Chris back to let him know of my approval and to make arrangements to come and pick up the vehicle and that I would be financing it through my credit union. Chris at this point said that his dealership was not accepting outside financing. I asked if that is because the dealership makes money off the financing as well, and Chris confirmed this. I then told Chris, that he should have explained this to me before I had applied through my credit union. I then expressed dismay to him for not telling him, and Chris's exact words were, "Well sir, if you want to play the victim," I thought Chris would have accepted ownership over his actions, but this never happened. it's sad when hard working people are trying to save money and they are called "playing the victim." Went there to look at a certified pre-owned suv. After the test drive we sit down to talk numbers, and see that a ceramic clear coat and interior protection plan is "not" optional. They also included delivery charges for a "used" vehicle. They came back and removed the delivery, upped our trade in, but refused to remove this exterior/interior spray on surface protector. And tell us that the website was wrong this is not a certified pre-owned. Just a used car and tact on an additional warranty without giving us details about it. We got up and walked away. After the manager said they couldn't honor the certified pre-owned, after he contradicted himself as saying it is just a warranty. Which we could just buy one. read more

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I brought my car in for a recall and to have them check out a few issues- including a check engine light and a TPM sensor that went out in the rear right wheel. I also told them I needed a new battery. They told me it would cost $180 for the diagnostic on the check engine light, but it would be applied to the repair. I was told the TPM sensor needed to be replaced and the check engine light was due to the battery dying-. They gave me options on the battery and I took the best one for $315 "out the door". I said I would pass on the TPM because it would cost almost $600 and the tires were new so I would do it later. When they rang me up, the new battery cost almost $500. They said the diagnostic didn't go toward the battery because the battery check is free. Even though they used the diagnostic to determine the battery was the cause of the check engine light. Lied to twice on that one. To make matters worse- I went to flip through my TPM- and now all 4 sensors are not working. Coincidence? I think not. I'll never use this dealership again, and, likely will never buy a Chevy again either. read more

Luis in Service really assisted me when I was in a bad situation. I realized that my tire was low on air and when I checked it there was 10 psi. The worthless machine at the Shell station failed to function. As I had to be with a client in less than an hour I drove across the street to Chevy and told Luis I would pay what ever amount to get some air in my tire. Luis said that it was no charge and proceeded to have a very friendly technician check and air up all my tires on a very cold day within 5 minutes. I do not even drive a Chevrolet. Buying a car with them was the worst experience I've ever had. 1st they refused any kind of credit union check. 2nd when they helped with car insurance they filled out all the information for me to help me get a "lower" rate, and a week later progressive ended up calling me to do a interview about some of the questions they answered for me, which they lied about, and when I answered them correctly my insurance almost doubled. 3rd and the worst part of my experience is Robert the finance guy, who gave me 50 dollars and told me to buy dinner for myself on him that he took out of the cash I gave him for a down payment. He also told me if I ever needed help paying my monthly payment to call him and he would help me and to think of him as a "sugar daddy", as I'm crying because this was the first time I was buying a car by myself and my car broke down unexpectedly, so it was a rough couple days for me. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS... I WOULD! I bought a brand new 2019 Chevy Equinox. It's still under powertrain warranty. Recently within the past year it's been having transmission issues. It's been brought to Chevrolet of Palatine on three different occasions. The 3rd visit, June 2nd, 2023, i came in and told them its having the same transmission issue. I asked them if they had a loaner I could use to get to work, like the first and second visit. They said no. However, once their tech drove the car and confirmed, yes, it's having the same transmission problem again, they then said yes we have a loaner. They lied the first time. Not a good faith response. Now it's been two months, and it's still not fixed. The vehicle is sitting on their lot with the brakes rusting and battery dead. I tried calling them for an update, but never got a clear concise answer, or they'll say "We'll call you back." On July 25th, 2023. A truck blew its trailer tire and hit the front of the loaner. According to the state troopers report, I was not at fault. I tried calling them but no answer. I finally got through and told them what happened. They asked me to bring the loaner in. Then they said they'd file a claim with my personal vehicle insurance. However, they also asked that I pay $1000 directly to them for the damage! No official damage assessment was even made yet by an adjuster. I wouldn't even have been in their loaner had they fixed my car in a timely fashion.... not have it sit on their lot for (2) months. This whole time, I've been paying my monthly payment on my car while I can't even use it. And time is being used up on my available powertrain warranty. read more

Bought a used vehicle from the last week while looking over the car fax I asked if one of the recalls was taken care of the sales person asked his boss and came back and said yes it was. I got home and ran the vin number on the government recall site and found out that they had lied to me. I know that used car salesmen get a bad reputation but when this happens you see why that it is. I will inquire with the Illinois state's attorney office and the Better Business Bureau to report this incident. New name, same horrible customer service. I brought my car which is under warranty to Chevrolet of Palatine (Grossinger) to get repaired. Check engine light is on and the engine is horrendously loud, clanking. It was also sluggish. There was also an oil leak. Pulled into the drive with the check engine light on and the clanking was very loud. Service advisor David said "I hear it, something isn't right." Check engine light was on when he got the miles out of the car and he heard the noise. I showed him pictures of the oil leak, which you can see under the hood and under the vehicle which I brought it for last month and they said it wasn't leaking and cleaned it up. The oil leak was back. David calls me the same day, said there is no check engine light on (which he saw in the drive) said there is no noise (he heard it in the drive) and there is no oil leak only seeping (they cleaned it off last month and it's soaked with oil again.) Lying to me hours after he and I both witnessed these issues at the same time and addressed it to me. Lying to customers. He told me he is not fixing the car, even though he had admitted he heard the noise earlier, saw the check engine light and the leak. Blew me off. Not customer pay so they told me to pick my car up. I bought a car with a warranty so when it breaks I can bring it to the dealer to get fixed. Not blown off. He was rude and obviously does not want to fix anything. I came here thinking, hoping, and believing that this place would actually help me but only caused me more stress. Kevin Cayton who in my opinion is very untrustworthy and the typical car salesman who only wants to help themselves make the most commission of a sale sure did not look out for my best interest. After getting there in the mid-evening I ended up speaking with the finance team and I had let them know what vehicle I wanted. I then meet with Kevin the manager and he tells me that car was sold. I later found out that it wasn't a week and a half later. After looking at one car, he told me my car payment would be more than 750 a month. YEAH RIGHT! So instead of trying to put me into something I could afford, he pushed me into a vehicle that wasn't that much cheaper but is also a risk for high theft in my area. Two weeks after having the 2017 Hyundai Tucson, my catalytic converter was stolen from my vehicle as well as damage to the muffler. I now have to pay 1000 deductible to get that fixed and an extra 500.00 to get a clamp put on the converter so no one can mess with it. Money that should be put towards my car payments and not insurance claims !!! In addition to that, he also admitted to inflating my income to the bank to get me approved, lied about how much my monthly car payments actually were, and also lied about the company I would be financing the car through. I have been in contact with the finance company and the dealership to return the vehicle back with no penalty or to trade the car for something else but no one has returned my inquiries. At this point, I'm either going to go to another dealership or contact the attorney general. I definitely regret coming here and I would advise anyone to not work with this person or go to this dealership. read more

Patrick one of their sales managers did not call me back when I called to ask why Scott would hang up on a customer... The 'just of it;' they advertised a 2018 Centennial Colorado which had a MSRP of $45970 for $37975. When I offered the asking price I was given a run around about price, then quoted a higher price and when I pushed for the original sales price; I was then told they could sell it to me at the advertised sales price, but I would have to pay a destination charge of $995, which is already included in the MSRP. When I called Scott on this, he stated he has been selling cars this way for five years.... Just double check the numbers they give you... Paid $2,599 for it only to find out weeks later that they never installed it on my vehicle. I asked for a refund spoke to CHRISTIAN the "manager" he made me sign a paper to cancel it and I will receive the refund in max 5 days. It's been almost 3 weeks and I have not received anything. 2007 GMC 2500HD Duramax Diesel. The truck needed a Glo Plug Controller replaced which is about a 10 minute process. The controller was replaced on August 27 OK but the maintenance shop was not capable of finishing the job per the GM manual by having the new glo plug controller communicate with the Engine Control Module (ECM) for fuel flow data storage transfer to the new glo plug controller. Check engine light remained on, defect code P160C remained when the truck was given back to me unrepaired. Mechanic as well wanted to replace multiple components like the transmission controller under the hood that are not related to the issue. They also claimed there were secret passwords in the ECM, not so. They could not do the routine General Motors glo plug controller replacement job. I took the truck to Duramax Tuner in Woodstock, 815-568-7920. Factory required communication of the new glo plug controller to the ECM took less than 5 minutes, fuel flow data transferred to the new glo plug controller, check engine light then went out and code P160C was erased. The truck ran correctly. Here is a place that knows how to work on the Duramax diesel vs the Chevy dealer. A very nice shop and smart employees for your Duramax or Allison transmission repairs. I will not go to Leader for a car purchase or service on a car. read more
