BAIT AND SWITCH + THREATENING BEHAVIOR I visited Napleton Palatine Hyundai on 5/28/2026 to purchase a 2026 Hyundai Sonata SEL Sport AWD (Stock: PH100221, VIN: KMHL64JA0TA535480). Your own website advertises 0% APR for 60 months on Sonata models through 6/1/2026. My salesman Lian Torres and I agreed on an out-the-door price of $32,711.42 with $15,000 down -- resulting in a correct monthly payment of $295.19 at 0% APR. When we reached the finance office, the finance manager unilaterally changed the terms to 0.99% APR without any explanation. When I presented screenshots of their own website showing the 0% promotion, the finance manager told me to either sign at 0.99% or use one of the three doors to leave the dealership. Additionally, I was denied the Hyundai college graduate discount that I legally qualify for as a recent graduate -- with no explanation provided. This behavior constitutes: 1. False advertising / bait and switch under the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act 2. Threatening and unprofessional conduct toward a customer 3. Failure to honor advertised 0% APR promotional financing 4. Wrongful denial of the Hyundai college graduate discount program I have screenshots of the 0% APR promotion, full documentation of the agreed terms, and a complete record of all communications. Sales associate asked what color car we wanted then sent us on our way....alone. Halfway through the drive, engine warning lights came on and the car shut down. I should have checked Yelp before taking my 2020 Santa Fe here. My car has been burning through oil like crazy and we heard that is an issue with Hyundai from my mechanic and he recommending taking it to the dealership for warranty review. Instead, this dealership charged $250 to look at it and came up with several other things (not related to the oil) that totaled over $2000 and said to do this 1st and never addressed the oil issue. Talked to a few people and they said they are notorious for this type of foul play. Run for the hills and look for another option. read more

I had reached out about a car on a Friday morning, they said it was still available so I made an appointment for the next morning. When I got there they went through all the motions said they just had to get the car washed before the test drive. Then came back and said it just sold the day before and offered other cars for me to look at. I told them no thank you and that I didn't appreciate that they wasted my time. Common courtesy would have been to send a message or call me in the entire 2 hours before my appointment to let me know. I went to Hyundai of Palatine to have my 8,000 mile maintenance worked performed on my car. This work consisted of an oil change and a tire rotation. The check in process was very slow. This should have been a warning sign. I asked how long the service would take and I was told to expect an hour and a half. This seemed longer than normal to me. The waiting area was nice and there was free wifi. The drink and food selection was minimal and it wasn't until well into the morning that the snack selection was refilled. The waiting area soon filled up quickly, spilling into the showroom area. I waited over two hours before being given an update. I was told that there was a backup at the car wash. When I got back in my car there were baseball cards in the cup holders that weren't there before. This wait time is too long for something simple that normally takes less than an hour elsewhere. My AC was not working and my RPM's revved up when changing gears before changing. I went in and stated that my air isn't working and I need to change the AC Compressor and there can be a leak and I also stated that I may have a leak. I also stated to them that I needed them to check the transmission and timing belt for the change of gears. I came in three times, first time they said I just needed an oil change, second time they could never get to the car and third time they charged me $500 to do a diagnosis confirming of what I just said above. They gave me an estimate of $5200 to fix everything, on top of the $500 they charged me for telling me what I already told them in the first place. I won't trust to use their service again, and I will be filing a complaint to Hyundai. read more

My hyundai is a 2022 Santa Fe i bought with zero miles and on the first oil change they left the cap open for the oil and spilled oil all over my engine. After that my horn stops working every like 2 months and they have to replace and its always a hassle because supposedly they have to inspect it and they have no loaners for us. I had a good experience buying my car at Hyundai of Palatine a year ago, but since then I've had a very bad experience with their service department. Apparently appointment times don't mean anything to them! My appointment yesterday was at 11:15am for a simple regular maintenance oil change/tire rotation. After being told by the desk time after time that it wasn't ready and would take even longer, my FRUSTRATION really began. BTW, I, not them, had to keep checking in with them, NOT the other way around. I did not receive my car back until 1:20pm (over 2 hours!) and missed an appointment that I had!! If I could give a score worse than 0 stars I would. Timeline: Purchased 2022 Hyundai Palisade in December of 2021 from Leader Automotive In Lincolnwood IL. September of 2022 Hyundai of Palatine replaced the faulty radiator. March of 2023 Hyundai of Palatine replaced the faulty Thermostat. Now the radiator and Thermostat are giving me issues. Independent mechanic diagnosed problems with radiator( leaking coolant ) and Thermostat not working properly. I've had it for service three times and Hyundai of Palatine techs claim the radiator just had a loose hose and the Thermostat is working properly. Clearly you can see drops of coolant under the hood and the tech told me to my face that the heat didn't feel this cold when he checked it last week. On top of them not fixing the problems, the customer service advisor who handled my claim was far from pleasant or sincere. Thanks so much Hyundai for taking care of your valued customers. read more

Most difficult purchase I have ever made. I purchase vehicles for my company, about 4 a year over the last 25 years. I like to buy vehicles via mail. By that I mean I confirm the price and details via email, dealer mails me purchase documents and I mail or wire the funds. On occasion I do not even go to the dealership as they deliver the car or someone on my staff picks it up. I did not do that this time. BIG MISTAKE. This dealership was close to my home and there was an incentive for using their financing. Easy right? First day went there, loked at the car, did not need to do a test drive, filled out paperwork and waited, and waited and waited. Finally went into the finance department to ask when doc's would be ready. A 15 year old behind the counter told me 30 more minutes. Fine, I said I'll come back tomorrow to sign the documents. This kid said oh no you can't do that, you'll have to wait more than 30 minutes tomorrow. I left. Got a call the next day from my salesman (very nice guy Oliver) assuring me that all documents were ready. When I arrived I met Rebecca who wanted my ID and the same documents I had given finance the day before. Obvious question was why? Rebecca took offense to that and explained that the people working on the file the day before were new and she would have to do the finance paperwork herself if she was going to "Authenticate" it. In addition she wanted my original FEIN doc's. Why I do not know, FEIN is Federal Employer Identification Number. That LLC has no employees, I would have been miles ahead telling her I did not have an FEIN as they are not required in Illinois. Again, I left. That night I sent additional documents. On Friday I received a call from Oliver saying all the paperwork was ready. Burned twice I called Olivers sales manager. He also assured me the paperwork was ready. Armed with this information I grabbed an employee to drop me off at the dealership. We crawled onto the Kennedy at 12:45 hoping to get there by 2:00pm. At 1:28 I received an email from Rebecca saying that the documents I sent were not satisfactory. I saw the email when I was at 90 and 53. I had to turn around and fight my way back to downtown Chicago in Friday rush hour to bring my employee back to our office. That cost me 3 hours of my employees time and 5 hours of mine as I live just west of Palatine. I planned on cancelling my check and skipping this car but I received a very nice call from Oliver assuring me that if I came back Saturday this would get done. Picked up the car on Saturday. No I did not need the elusive FEIN documents. No Rebecca did not greet me or apologize. I did take the license plate frame off the car as I cannot advertise for this firm. The final straw was a call I received this week from the dealer telling me they needed 3 references in case finance needed to reach me. Pokerface! Came in on Saturday with my husband and 1 year old to buy a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. Was originally very happy with pricing and our trade-in value. We agreed on pricing and were set to complete all paperwork and finish up the buying process around 3PM. However, the next part of the process stalled and we spent 3 hours waiting to start the process for financing. We had let them know that we needed to leave by 7PM because of our daughter's bedtime several times throughout the day. We were promised that it would be no problem to get us out of there by 6PM. However, 7PM passed and it looked like we still had an hour or more left in the process. They failed to respect our time and ultimately lost a set deal because of it. We worked with Lian and Ben. Even though we were happy with our pricing, we didn't appreciate working with either of them. It was obvious that they were juggling too many customers and dropped the ball several times, ultimately leading us to walk away right before signing. The entire process was disorganized. read more

Their Finance team messed up the paper works the day we got the car, and after 2 weeks they asked us to come back to sign more papers that they kinda' forgot or messed up. I bought a used Ioniq EV in NJ that was still under warranty. It was intermittently losing power unexpectedly. Although the problem was very intermittent, Hyundai of Palatine did not question my assertion that the car was not working properly. Hyundai of Palatine consulted with Hyundai technicians in the central office and solved the problem. This involved many hours of diagnostic and repair work. Some local Hyundai dealers will not even attempt to service EVs. Hyundai of Palatine provided excellent service for a difficult to solve problem. read more

I reviewed this place about a year ago and recently purchased a new car through here...all I can say is WOW. It's truly a great place. They're professional, driven and aren't there to screw you over. My sales associate is Jason Kell. I could use a bunch of adjectives to describe him, but great sums it up. He is a true master of his craft which is a sight to see. He will work very, very hard to get you into the vehicle that you want and at a price that makes you comfortable. This is the second vehicle I've gotten through him and will keep going back when needed. I can not suggest him and Hyundai of Palatine/ Leader Auto enough. Do yourself a favor and go see Jason. All their vehicles come with two add-ons that add over $3,500 to the price of the vehicle. These two completely unnecessary add-ons are Xzilon Protection & LoJack. While the prices might seem great up front, they soon become obsolete when the final price is presented with little flexibility to the buyer. I purchased a vehicle less than a year ago and from the start they were trying to sell me additional stuff that I did not want. I drove from Indianapolis, In. I purchased a 2019 Genesis G90 that came off a lease. The driver side bumper's paint is peeling off. I went to a collision repair center and they said it was a bad paint job. There was some type of coating that was applied to the vehicle when I purchased it and they tried to get me to buy the warranty but I had no idea why and what all they did because this Dealership is NOT transparent in their doings. Attached are pictures of my car and what they tried to sell me but once again I didn't know what I was purchasing so I declined it. I called several times to get this remedied and now they're saying it's a manufacturer defect which clearly is not. Whatever they did is peeling off. So the body shop said the whole bumper would have to be removed stripped of the paint and repainted. read more

Predatory. I purchased my leased car through this dealership and they charged me what amounted to $9115.06 more than the buyout on the lease. They will take advantage of you at every turn. They sold me a $1000 insurance policy I didn't need, stated it would only be $5 additional per month (not true as the math didn't add up), stacked $1750 in unspecified fees onto the purchase, and changed the interest rate at the last minute. The place was so unpleasant and they prolonged the process so beyond ridiculously i just wanted to leave. I will never buy another Hyundai again. This has permanently turned me off to the brand. Completely non transparent from start to finish. Highly recommend working with a credit union for financing. I wish I did that but I was misled by Hyundai Motor Finance and this dealership at every turn. read more

Not surprised by the low ratings. We purchased our car here years ago. Car wasn't starting, but service was unable to reproduce the issue. They recommended a new starter, but we refused to have the work done. We were then charged a service fee of $185 because we refused to have the recommended repair. In none of our communications, either written or verbal, was this fee disclosed. Discussed a refund due to lack of transpareny with the manager, who did nothing. DO NOT USE Leo as your sales rep! Not only did he repeatedly ignore us. But after telling us yes, they had a car in stock when we drove out to see it he just told us well I don't know where it is, it could be out as a loaner or one of the business guys have it and we have no way of knowing when it will be back. I went home with my daughter as it was super late and I was sick of them saying oh no that comes with the car no way to remove it and not pay for it. Not to mention put new license plates on the car without my consent when we already had license plates that had just been renewed. They did not detail it. It smelt like cat urine, there was tons of garbage under and in all the seats. The windshield was cracked and only noticeable during a sunny day. They tried to refuse to do anything about the windshield or the fact that it was not actually detailed . After fighting 3 different people there to have a conversation with the head manager of this location. I was finally transferred to him he apologized and set an appointment for the windshield to be fixed and for the car to get detailed. As well as program a key fob as they "couldn't find the other one". When I went in for the appointment they told me they knew nothing about a windshield so that couldn't be done and they couldn't do the key fob because their programming system was down and had been down for the whole day but yet did not think to call the person who had an appointment that required that system.. This was after waiting almost an hour. Then they stated that they cleaned the car. And once again the car was not . Not to mention it took them almost 3 months to inform blue link and Hyundai that the previous owner did not own this vehicle so for three months of owning the vehicle blue link navigation all of that stuff did not work because it was in the name of the previous owner which they hadn't owned it for months prior to me purchasing it. Absolutely, worse decision of our lives purchasing a car from there. HORRIBLE service and they all think they're slick. DO NOT GO TO THEM! Find a different Hyundai or just a different dealership, especially if you're looking at used cars. All of the sales people stand out front in front of the door smoking and they don't care if you're walking up or even if you're walking up with a baby!! Honestly if I give zero stars, I would. Zero stars if i could! went in there to buy a hyundai santa fe. drove the car, was nice, i liked it. sticker price- $26,500. i told the guy i would put down almost all of that. he comes back with a sheet showing a $3000 down payment. and final price around $31,500. I said I told you i was going to put a shitload down on this, he says but they really want you to finance, and i notice there $2000 worth of BS fees- $400 for key replacement, $400 for some other BS and another $1200 for some "interior & exterior warranty" i ask the sale guy (kid)- what the hell is this, get rid of this i dont need this. he comes back with a manager and he says this is part of the deal im like hell no- your sticker says $26.5K- i dont want these. so eventually he says how about I take off $1500 (instead of the $2000 False advertising charge), i said sure. (i wanted the car) he makes me sit there for another 10 minutes and comes back and goes "sorry sir the car has already been sold". Im like are you F'n kidding me? We just bought a new car here and the Sales crew, led by Misael and Sola were really helpful and attentive. We made three visits to the dealership and spent some time meeting with both of they. They both did a great job to bring the deal to an expeditious close. Finance was quick and helpful (which is unusual in my experience for car purchase). In general, the service was good and I would rate them at five stars. One thing to note at the time of writing this review: MSRP on the sticker is does not match the offered price. This upwards "price adjustment" is a reflection of the current supply shortage across the industry and others. The only suggestion shared with the team is that they could do better to be more transparent about this discrepancy earlier in the process, for instance, in the test drive phase. read more

I interviewed for a cashier position with Maria on a Tuesday. I was offered the job on the spot. She asked me to come back the following Thursday to fill out paperwork. Thursday morning I got a text that she was out sick she would reschedule for the next week. She did not contact me, so I reached out via text twice before she responded. When she did respond, the hours of the position changed drastically from what was offered. All of this after I made accommodations at my full time employer to leave early 2 days a week to accommodate their needs. Spoke to David at corporate who had an attitude if WE DON'T NEED TO HIRE YOU. Update on the review below: The service department at this place is still insufferable. Ended up having to buy my leased car. Having the car for a total of 4-5 years at this point and the engine needed to be replaced. If you see my review below you'll see their own employee says their parts are trash. When I went to get it serviced they....once again... had my car for 3+ months. Each time I called they would tell me "it will be done at the end of this week", but pushed it out every time. The staff who answers the phone in the service department are so rude and will say anything to get you off the phone. Also, I understood parts were on back order... and I was very patient until it hit month 2 (the lying and miscommunication was the most irritating part). Just let me know a date so I don't expect my car to be ready and it's not. Once they replaced my engine- they forgot to screw on the engine cover splash shield which than fell out and was scraping the road as I was driving. I needed to go back again and give them my car so they could order a new shield since they ruined mine. After I got it back my heat was not working due to a leakage of fluid. I had to bring it back in. They forgot to replace a pipe which had gone bad and was apart of the engine fix. So for the third time I needed to give it back to them to fix (all within 1 month of them having my car for 3 months) Finally, I get my car back and the coolant is still leaking because they forgot to tighten screws which caused the leak. I brought it to another mechanic and he was laughing at how trash their service and mechanics are. Moral of the story do not go here and don't buy a Hyundai it will be the biggest headache of your life. read more

I can't begin to describe my level of frustration. From the length of times repairs take to the subpar repair work. We have two Hyundai vehicles. My personal one needed a new engine due to critical failure under 50,000 miles ALL maintenance was up to date and kept up to date. The replaced it now it leaks coolant or burns it.. constantly. Without a loaner I can't get it fixed. My husbands car was in months ago for repairs held for weeks no loaner offered.. And he's still having the same problems. First time service at Hyundai Palatine. And very really disappointed. My advisor is Fernando Hidalgo. The worst ever. I have appointment at 12.30pm and was there at 12.00pm. I know I have to wait until 12.30 to get my car worked on. I have already mentioned about my problem prior the appointment. When I was there I have to repeat my concern again and the agent told me dont know how long it will take ( unprepared at all) at least they can give me like estimate time. I have a problem with turbo or turbo or turbo harness. The agent told me only my turbo injector is old and need to be replaced which I dont know and I dont see any quote at all about what part will be replaced. They said they ran diagnostic but nothing is wrong only told me that it was around 500$ but i never get a chance to see a quote. I was there at 12.00 and left at 3.30pm Which is really frustrated. I came before anyone but left last. It sucks. The agent is suck. No update and no information and no knowledge at all. The advisor name Fernando Hidalgo. Before I went to the service at Knauz, it was always been brilliant because of Eddie Bauer. He was the best but now it closed. One half is service charges and the other is on the car. Then to make matters worse, they automatically got me a new set of license plates without my consent. I would never go back. I don't like driving the car I purchased. I am now hoping to purchase a car of my choice with better financing conditions. We bought a used car from them last week. Told them the car was being driven to Yellowstone so it had to be safe. They said they check all safety issues and the car was fine. Ok. We took the car to an independent repair shop and lo and behold, all four brakes were completely shot. They needed to be replaced immediately. The car was far from safe, let alone driving on mountain roads. I wouldn't trust a word they say. I wasn't even comfortable bringing it to them for repair. They can't be trusted. I went to look at a new Palisade Limited. Nice car. But when I had them run the numbers here's somethings you might want to know. First there were 2 charges they were trying to slip in. One is $1495.00 for a popular vehicle fee. Not only would they not discount from sticker but are tacking on an extra amount because they think they can get it. Second was a $2595.00 fee for sanitation and disinfection. That's over 5 grand in B.S. Fees. Then they wouldn't disclose the interest rate. My credit score is great so I should have been down around 3%. By my estimate they wanted closer to 5%. undervalued my trade in by at least 2k. So be careful of the dealership scams. Oh, I walked out. Maybe the Toyota dealer is a little more honest. 2 stars because the place was clean. read more

I met Terrell Grimes and he was very informative about the car I wanted and looked up questions that he did not know the answer to. He was very friendly and personable.
