Another super successful delivery night from Napoli's, this time from their uptown Hoboken location. Washington Street or Clinton Street, doesn't matter which one you go to. You could have two pizza's side by side from each location and they'd taste exactly the same. That's how good these guys are. I mean look at the picture of that chicken parm pie! It's beautiful! In my opinion the key difference maker with Napoli's is the sauce. It is without a doubt the best pizza sauce I've ever tasted in my life. I ran a pizza station formerly and I've still never been able to mimic this. Perfect balance of acidity and sweetness with a little tang. We'd gotten the Napoli's nod from native New Yorkers/Hoboken residents and decided to stop by for lunch. I'd read on the Napoli's website that the owner is part of the family that founded Lombardi's in NYC so he's from a pizza dynasty. All positive things! The pizza lunch special (everyday, 11 AM-4 PM) currently is either two Margherita or classic slices for $5 or two specialty slices for $7. A fountain drink is included. For the slices, you go up to the counter and pick from what's available. We sat at a table inside (there's outside seating too) and dined on the Napoli sliders ($8.95) and the pizza slices (I got Margherita and veggie). The four meatball sliders on garlic knots were delicious and had come highly recommended from a friend. Neat and unique concept. The pizza was good too but maybe not quite as tasty. The crust was pleasantly crunchy. Veggie featured broccoli, peppers, onions, and basil. The fresh mozzarella was a highlight of both slices. The young man waiting on us was pretty friendly, easygoing, and attentive. So Napoli's may not be quite as good as Lombardi's, but it's a foolproof choice in Hoboken for sure. Try 'em out. read more

However the real knock on this place is the service, both in house and for delivery and pickup. If you come hungry, well lets just say you are going to wait awhile for your food. Just last night I came in to pickup my food at the time designated on my e-mail and they had not even started on my order yet. When I tried to talk to a staff member they just brushed me off saying they were busy when the restaurant was practically empty at 9:45 pm. I love this place! Lots of room to dine outside or inside if it's too cold. They do have heaters outside. And you can BYOB !! I've tried a few different types of pizzas here but my favorite is the penne vodka pizza! It's the absolute best! The large pizza is huge! They have a pretty big menu but the pizzas are the best thing. We got garlic bread last time and it tasted pretty weird and I won't order the garlic bread ever again. We ordered pizza around 8:30pm, waited close to 90 minutes (which is expected on a Friday night) for it to arrive, only to find half the pizza flipped over in the box. We called and texted pictures of the pizza. The man who answered initially handled the situation, and said he couldn't make the decision to refund us, so his manager, who's also the owner, needed to call us to discuss. The owner looked at the pictures and told us nothing was wrong with this pizza; just a "few slices were flipped over." THAT'S YOUR STANDARD?!? We weren't interested in getting new pizza delivered since it was already 10pm. If they could have delivered new pies in 10-15 minutes, we would have considered it, but when asked how we wanted to handle, we asked for a refund. After arguing for about 10 minutes (which is ridiculous), we were finally offered the refund. To his credit, the owner also offered us 2 free pies (to be used tonight or otherwise), but that was after the heated argument, which should have never happened in the first place. The pizza that was delivered was subpar, and customers shouldn't have to jump through hoops and argue with the owner at 10pm to get their money's worth, or at least something resembling what they ordered. As a Hoboken resident of 10+ years, it's disappointing that a staple in town has such poor customer service. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to argue about a pizza that was CLEARLY mishandled during the delivery. Shame, Napoli's, because your food is very good but the risk isn't worth the reward. read more

My boyfriend and I come here for Valentine's Day all the time and we are never disappointed. This place is kinda small, but it's so cute and has a special ambiance to it. There is outdoor seating as well which is good for big groups. During the colder months they have the heater on outside so you're not freezing outside which is very considerate. For starters, we got the eggplant rollatini. It was so delicious and filling. This plate is meant to be shared by two people, so if you have a crowd, I recommend ordering multiple plates of it. We are a sucker for their penne vodka. It's not soupy or dry, it is the perfect consistency. Their portion sizes are huge so it took the two of us to finish the penne vodka. We also had the eggplant parm. With the eggplant and chicken parm you can choose what type of pasta you would like on top. The eggplant parm was crispy and cooked well. Last year I had their lobster ravioli which was delicious as well! I'm someone who loves spicy food, so I found the sauce a little too sweet, so I added red pepper flakes. But even without it was delicious. I wish they had given more ravioli as I believe they only gave around 5. Overall this place exceeded my expectations and is one of my favorite spots in Hoboken for Valentine's Day. This place has really big portions so don't over order. Italian food never gets old, but sometimes the pizzerias in my neighborhood do. Because of that, it's worth heading to Napoli's every now and again. Although the name makes it seem more like a pizza joint, Napoli's has got an extensive menu with lots of different pasta, entree and app options. The dining area is pretty small, but it's usually not hard to snag a table since a large portion of their business is take-out. The food here is absolutely incredible. Portions are large, so I'd suggest sharing. The personal sized pizza is more like a medium, the medium sized is more like a large, and the large...well, I haven't gotten that far yet. After seeing pics on Yelp, I was 100% positive that I'd order the garlic knot sliders during my next visit, and last week I did exactly that. The order came with four plump garlic knots, sliced in half with a large meatball, gooey mozzarella and fresh tomato sauce in between. Mic drop. Because the order of four was pretty large, that and a personal sized vodka pie split between two was the perfect amount of food. All of that for under 20 bucks with BYOB wine is absolutely a deal considering that most spots in the area will run you over 20 dollars for an entree alone. And everything here is way more fresh and delicious than most places that you'll find in Hoboken. I wish that Napolis was in Jersey City, but hey, it's still worth the trip over! read more

On my most recent trip, my friend and I sauntered in after an intense afternoon of sangrias at Pier 13, and we were ravenous. We began our feast by ordering the Pear Salad with the hopes of being healthy. A generous portion of peppery arugula was sprinkled with cubes of ripe pear, crunchy walnuts, and shaved Romano cheese, and then topped with their house made balsamic dressing. The salad was fine, but merely a warmup for the carb-heavy main attraction - a small Mediterranean Chicken Pizza. This pie from heaven was topped with a garlicky tomato sauce, tender grilled chicken, zesty red onions, smoky roasted eggplant, and briny Kalamata olives. The flavors truly transported us to a seaside café in Italy. Plus, the small pizza, with its six slices, was the perfect size to complement our salad and fill our bellies.
