I have been to many Nardelli's before as I used to live in CT, but while back in the area with our hockey team; we stopped into this location and had an unbelievable experience. We called ahead and the manager said they would be able to accommodate 30 of us with less than 20 mins notice. I read the previous reviews and decided to try it the next time I was driving past on Newtown Road. Very glad I did. Walked into s clean, welcoming space with good lighting (if I can't see what I'm eating, is there a reason?!), with a well staffed deli counter. The sandwiches are split between pre-prepared selections that can be freely customized to your tastes, or any combo of cold cuts that can be tailored to your tastes as well. Any sandwich can be done as a plate as well if you're watching carbs. And on the subject of carbs, the wedge bread is a perfect launching pad for the fresh fillings offered. It's a great Italian loaf bread with good crust, solid innards, and soft without wimpiness or lack of absorbency. Bravo! Staff were attentive and friendly, and my sons were accommodated with care and genuine hospitality. This is not cheap chow. Its not expensive, though. I think that for what you get, the price point is right on. There are national chain sub shops nearby if you enjoy that kind of extruded plasticized bread with factory meats. I've been hearing about this place for years and for some reason never tried it, until tonight. I am now officially a Nardelli's convert. They had gluten-free bread which is still decently difficult to come by in a mainstream deli, the employees behind the counter were quick and helpful, and the sandwich rocked. I got a cold cut sandwich and my boyfriend got a buffalo chicken hot grinder, which he described as "excellent". Nardelli's is a constant in CT and they seem to be popping up everywhere. With that said, I have to agree with a prior review from Saul G. The bread is a huge fail. Actually, there are a few fails at Nardelli's. Cost being one and un-inspired sandwiches being top of the list. I've been to Nardelli's numerous times hoping and wishing that it would bowl me over. It just hasn't. And sandwiches should be easy, there are only so many ingredients you can stuff in them. The soups aren't bad however overall I'd say that it is mediocre food at a fairly decent price. Is it better than Subway, without a doubt yes. Is it better than Blimpies? Not really. Is it better than Jersey Mikes? Nope. I'd still say give them a try with your favorite sandwich, you may get luckier than me! read more

Nice place for grinders. I got the Italian special, which seems to be the house specialty. I got it with everything, and despite my Philadelphia-raised wife's horror at getting mayonnaise on an Italian hoagie, I would recommend doing the same. A textbook example of a classic restaurant going straight downhill after franchising it out. When you spend $10+ on a grinder, you expect some meat on it. Twice now in two different locations, I received one layer of chicken cutlet on a giant roll where often times you were taking a bite with no meat whatsoever. And the cutlet was mushy to top it off. My experience was very nice. I went with the Yelp recommendations and ordered a half Italian with everything. I am glad I went with the half as they are quite large. Service was very prompt and friendly. I had glanced at their menu before going in and was tempted by the desserts. When I saw them in the display, I could not help but to add a cannoli to my order. Were it not for all the hype I would consider giving the place four stars,. The portions are large, the ingredients are fresh, the sandwiches are well made, and the people are nice. But the bread is a fail. It's soft and cottony, with little in the way of a crust. The meats in the Italian combo are mild, the eggplant parmigiana is bready without being crisp, and the mozzarella in a chicken and mozzarella is industrial. A side of tortellini salad. was overcooked. There are places in the Northern suburbs that can pull off a real deal Italian sandwich, for me this doesn't make the cut. That being said, it's much better than a Subway or Quizno's.I added some artisanal hoagie peppers to the leftovers of my Italian combo and was quite pleased. Maybe that's the trick. read more

I was not thrilled when my husband wanted to stop at a sandwich shop for dinner. Menu sounded ok so I agreed. I got the balsamic chicken and hubby got a meatball. The chicken was excellent! I recently visited the Danbury location of Nardelii's. I ordered a ham, cappicola & provolone sandwich with a few toppings. The employee making my sandwich didn't write the order down and had to repeatedly ask me what I wanted on my sandwich. Lettuce, salt, pepper, oil & vinegar. I was dismayed to when I opened it to find that the ham was crappy boiled ham that is over processed - almost like a ham loaf. I have to say after driving by pass Nardelli's numerous times, finally I decided to walk in. Wow, what I've been missing, Everything you look for in a Deli. A great selection of fresh cold cuts, fresh bread, prepared food, salads and imported cheese. Not to mention they carry there own brand of root beer soda. Which I love. I had an amazing tunafish sandwich and my girlfriend had a roast beef sandwich we split both sandwiches and we were very satisfied.
