Great place to get a sandwich. I usually pick up a chicken salad whole grinder or the eggplant chicken. I hold on the "diced veggies" since peppers tend to overpower the other ingredients. Prices are decent and can get a little out of hand if you keep ordering more items you see in the case, but they do offer $5.00 off coupons in local flyers. Service is always speedy! read more

Living in NY with lots of family in CT, we pass this place ALL the time on 84. They advertise "Best grinders in CT". So today we were shopping in Danbury (starving!) and decided to stop in, excited to devour 2 of the best grinders in the whole state of CT. Boy were we disappointed... The service was exceptional and the place was very clean, but our sandwiches were "meh" at best. I got the chicken cutlet with "everything" and my husband got the Italian combo with "everything". When the nice guy behind the counter repeated "everything" (?) my husband said EVERYTHING, sweet and hot (peppers), oil and vinegar. The guy gave a quizzical look and went off to make the sandwich. In NY an "everything" Italian combo means all 4 meats, provolone, sweet and hot peppers and oil and vinegar. That was OUR mistake for saying "everything" cuz here that means mayo, olives, etc etc. But my husband specifically asked for sweet and hot peppers and oil/vinegar. Not on there. And it was mostly ham. He kept saying "who puts mayo on an Italian combo?". He did however think that the bread was very good. My chicken cutlet was taken out of the case and MICROWAVED? It was a very thick slab of chicken, breaded with tasteless not seasoned breading and again...microwaved? How is this the best grinder in CT? I have 8 local Italian take out places that do it 100x better, nice thin seasoned cutlets that take 3 minutes to heat up in an actual oven. Ugh, it was dare I say disgusting let alone NOT the best grinder. I left most of it in the garbage. And LOADED with mayo btw...and they forgot the hot sauce... Walked away thinking we are both very fair when it comes to reviewing places, but both agreed we wouldn't even give it a second try. read more

I have to say that this restaurant is absolutely INCREDIBLE! Our first introduction to this company occurred when traveling from Maine to Baltimore, Md., which I drive down /up, each month. Approximately five months ago, our trips have included ritual visits to Nordelli's, based on our first experience when while driving up North, our clutch went. This was Martin Luther Kings weekend and nothing would be open for three days. While we waited at the local hotel, we were given a menu to Nordelli 's and we ordered our first of many greats! This past Wednesday, 6/4/14 , we were driving up to Maine via Rt.84 PA, and my husband just had to have an Italian Cold cut. Just had to have one and while salivating on past tastebud memories, we missed the crucial exit North. Needless to say, it took the diversion route of an extra 2 1/2 hours out of our way, before we came upon Danburry's finest. Two and a half hours out of the way!!! Just to have that Italian Cold Cut...I was driving for the past six hours and just wanted to get home, but my husband had to stop at Nordellis. So we did. This trip was my first time into the store, I usually waited in car or at hotel. Once I entered the store I was overwhelmed with the cleanliness, ambiance , amount of fresh Italian "dishes" that were beautifully displayed for customers, the enormous take out/dine in menu above, Italian cafe', specialty desserts, and Nordellis own, soft drinks plus more. Jimmy and Jorisel greeted me as I was in such wonder. I told Jorisel my story of our 2 1/2 hour out of the way trip, just to have a sandwich, she smiled and listened and Jimmy chimed in from the back with a big smile and said- I will make it worth the trip! May I say that the two employees went out of their way to see we had what we fully enjoyed the whole experience. I had the stuffed Pastrami , OMG...out of this world with flavor!, the husband had his grinder, which must of had two pounds of each meat, fresh Italian bread, perfectly seasoned. We also order the stuffed clams for home, and they were delicious. Commendations most definitely to this location Nordellis should be in order for greatness. Nardelli's catered a large event for us and it was exceptional. We had bids from OTHER caterers and the menu was uninspired and expensive. We spoke to Jimmy who totally took care of us. He worked with our budget, offered different options that went well together, and followed through each time he was scheduled to call. I knew we were in good hands - and our guests enjoyed it all: sandwiches (meat and vegetarian), cold salads and hot entrees (especially the meatballs!), and desserts. Great sandwiches! Front line workers wanted a good hearty delicious sandwich so we called in our order. The worker that answered the phone put me on hold for 2 minutes, she informed me that she was cashing someone out. When she came back on the phone, she was not pleasant when I informed her that I had 3 separate orders. Our second order was suppose to be toasted on a regular grinder but she informed me that they only toast ciabatta bread, as I'm informing the person that requested his bread toasted of the only option, the worker proceeded to angrily inform me that she has a line and I'm holding her up. She repeatedly cut me off during my ordering to let me know that I needed to hurry up. Also noted is that a couple days prior we went in for lunch and both ladies were rude to us. For this reason they get 3 stars. Customer service is key for any work place. Love the food but due to the attitude on both occasions, we will not be ordering from them again. read more

Coming home from Outlet shopping in Central Valley New York . I saw the billboard and stopped off . Upon walking within 5 seconds I was greeted . Great feeling to have considering I've been to some high end restaurants that don't even do that . Today I went with the Hot Pepper Chicken with Prosciutto told the gentleman whom I think is an owner to load it up . I ordered a side of potato salad as well to go with my sandwich. Everything was spot on . Great food great service just like the one I go to in Wallingford and Waterbury. I eat here every time I stay in Connecticut and always purchase the cold turkey. A whole grinder is monstrous. Their desserts are tasty - try the Mud Pie Cup (Oreos, Pudding, Brownie, and Whipped Cream). Very fast and friendly. They are currently giving away an iPad. My husband and I have eaten there many time, always excellent quality food. We were hosting a weddding rehearsal dinner , and decided to have the party catered by Nardelli's. We ordered the stuffed shells, meatballs, Italian salad, and chicken with tomatoes and mozzarella. First of all when you walk into the place is impecably clean, the food presentation is great and fresh. The customer service I got was really nice. I love their tortellini and grinders, they taste really good and you can tell that they are not old. The bread taste good. It is a family enviroment, with good conversation even with the people that works there. I was amazed with the presentation of the food and I was not there early in the morning. We had a large bus group of 56 coming to do tours in the Danbury area over Thanksgiving. The food Nardelli's delivered to our Hotel was sensational. I'm a loyal customer. I'm on my third punch card. Service is fast and usually correct. I've seen the owner training a new maker and he's meticulous. Their sandwiches are scrumptious, soups delicious, cannolis might as well be from NYC (according to someone who spends a lot of time there) and salads yummy. The whipped cream on their desserts is not to my liking, more like icing than cream and has an odd undertaste. The cake slices are from Cheesecake Factory. The makers are always polite, friendly and attuned to the customers' satisfaction. This is so even when they're slammed at lunch. The prices are well thought out for the amounts given. We came into town for a wedding and needed a place to go for dinner. We chose Nardelli's because of it's good reviews and it's menu choices. All five of us were pleased with our meals. Their grinders are not flimsy or skimpy! Very hearty and full of flavor. I like how some of us were able to skip the bread and just order the filling, heated up if necessary. All the people who have worked there complains about the owner and her husband. I heard its a torture to be there and they treat their employees like crap. I've been there 10-15 times and the service is consistently attentive, professional and friendly. All the sandwiches I've tried are good but I always go back to the Italian combo. We ordered a platter of cold cuts and cheeses for New Year's Eve from Nardelli's. Being from NYC, we didn't know where to go, so the day before, we called the hotel we were staying at - Hampton Inn. They said that they often use Nardelli's - directly across the street from them and that they do a great job. That they did! We ordered the day before, and it was ready when we came to pick up. They accommodated our dietary restrictions, meats / cheeses were fresh, price was reasonable, platter looked beautiful! Service was also spectacular . . . they even carried the tray out to the car for us (in the snow) :-). We highly recommend them, and will use them again next year. read more

I've eaten Nardelli's several times at this location and a couple of their different ones for years (love their eggplant parm!) ... but after having this Danbury shop cater a party for me for a second time now this past weekend, I felt I should finally write a review. I ordered the assorted grinders and wraps sandwich option for 25-30 people for the graduation party I threw. I also had several specifications (no red meat, etc.) and pretty much customized the entire thing to mine and my boyfriend's liking/food preferences. They gave me no trouble at all for doing this. Although Nardelli's is closed on Sundays, the gentleman I placed my order with (I believe his name was Jamie) volunteered to go in early in the morning on his day off just to make my entire order fresh for the party later on that afternoon. He also did not charge me extra for all my customizations (he honored the original $129.99 price on the catering menu... which is very reasonable for the amount of food you get). We got three huge trays full of delicious, super fresh sandwiches, containers full of olives and pickles, and all the mayo and mustard we could ever need. They loaded it into my car with extreme care to make sure the sandwiches would stay as good looking as they did. They looked great, were absolutely delicious, and HUGE. They served way more than 25-30 and we had a ton of leftovers. I don't eat meat, just fish/seafood, so finding a place to do great sandwiches everyone including myself will love can be difficult. The seafood salad was super fresh and all the guests absolutely loved the grilled chicken ones. Such a nice change from typical, salty deli meat gross sandwiches you find elsewhere. I was so appreciative and it's really obvious that they care about what they do there. Will recommend them to anyone and will absolutely have them cater again in the future. read more

We were traveling from Pennsylvania to Massachusetts. We had passed the one in Waterbury many time prior but never had the chance to stop. We ended stopping at the one in Danbury. I went to this place during lunch time and wanted salad, it was grab and go which was convenient but you still had to wait in line for the cashier because it seemed like she was also doing kitchen and cashier which was understandable but would've probably made the line go quicker had she just done that and that's why I don't give it a 5 star. The food was awesome, I got the Italian mixed salad and it didn't even need dressing it had all these natural flavor a that mended perfect to each other and the guys behind the counter were eager to make a fresh one or specific one if I was unhappy with the grab and go selection! Hello. I'm a customer from Danbury, CT and I feel the need to share my experience with you. I had an extremely long day today and at the end of my day all I wanted was a good old turkey club. I told my boyfriend that I wanted Nardelli's and he agreed to go inside for me because I was honestly exhausted and didn't want to get out of the car. My boyfriend went inside and came out with a hot sandwich and I was surprised. I said are you sure this is mine turkey clubs arent usually hot? So I asked him to go back inside and see if the employees could redo my sandwich. He came back and stated that the employee was somewhat annoyed (which I understand to an extent) and I doubled checked my sandwich and it looked okay so we headed home. When we got home I looked closer at the sandwich AND THEY JUST SCRAPED THE CHEESE OFF THE BREAD. What if I had an allergy? I find this completely inexcusable. I understand when the turkey club was ordered we should've verified that you had your own version of a Turkey club so that was our mistake. But this completely ruined my whole day. I was just looking forward to having a turkey sandwich. It didn't even taste good. I found pieces of meat left from the original sanwich (technically this is still the original sandwich because everything was either scraped or just pulled off of this one). And I only ate some of it was because I was so hungry. And I'm not sure if there is a price difference between the two sandwiches but nothing was done with my card. I'm extremely discouraged and will more than likely not be returning to one of your facilities because if this is your standard I do not wish to eat here. I hope you take this information and make it a learning experience. And they have yet to reach out to me. read more

Stuffed pastrami = great; Italian Combo = Great; Meatball parm = pretty good (I'm biased for my own meatballs); kid meal = no complaints (was all eaten).
