I would give the food 4 stars but the service 2 stars. The waitress was nice but not attentive enough. They did not have a high chair for my 2 year old which was a first I've ever experienced. We had to seat her on a regular chair which isn't safe and just causes chaos. My biggest complaint, however, is the small portion size compared to other Thai restaurants. The portion of the white rice that comes with the entree is what my 5 year old can eat and he doesn't eat much. We kept ordering seconds of the rice. It was only $1 extra for an additional order, but still it doesn't help customer satisfaction and to have to find the waitress to order then wait for the rice was frustrating. The flavor for the food was on point. Thai iced tea was good but not the best I've had. Would not return to restaurant with young kids but may order takeout. read more

Best thai food ever. We love love coming here. It is a small place so making reservations is key. Also, the food may take awhile because there is one woman cooking everything but it is worth the wait and u can guarantee consistency. Food was okay at best. The dipping sauce for my spring roll seemed like it came straight out of a jar. If you ask for hot you may or may not get it. The service is not good at all. The polite way to describe it would be surly. They have a tendency to run out of things and be rude about it. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch with a friend today. Both appetizers and main dishes were excellent and prepared perfectly (we spilt each dish with each other so that we could try 4 dishes). Our waiter was delightful and very helpful with us both being unfamiliar with Thai. He was very accommodating and provided the perfect balance of being there when we needed something and leaving us to chat/catch up with each other and not making us feel rushed--even tho we took 2 hours and were the last ones to leave. As mentioned, I am unfamiliar with Thai cuisine, but everything was fresh and prepared beautifully. I love it when a cook/chef serves up perfectly cooked vegetables, shrimp and meat. My friend and I have decided this is "our monthly lunch spot" from now on. What a wonderful surprise: lovely food and charming service. My only complaint: their furnace isn't efficient enough to make the space warm enough on a cold January day. Dress warm for a winter lunch!! Well, we walked in right at 5pm on a Saturday evening...they had just opened and we were the only ones there the entire time. We had a young waiter who had no knowledge of what entrees contained gluten....my husband is gluten intolerant. We asked if the chicken wings had gluten...he said they aren't breaded, and the sauce most likely is ok. I told him some sauces have gluten and he looked at me like I had three heads. My husband ordered Pad King, since our waiter said it was gluten free. He then comes back and says "it's gluten free, but the soy sauce might have gluten"....face palm. He then ordered Pad Thai which the waiter said was gluten free and didn't have soy sauce.... Our chicken wings came....I go to a lot of restaurants, and I never really complain of portion sizes but this was ridiculous. 5 little chicken wings that barely had any meat on them. The waiter asked us if we would like little plates to share the appetizer....duh!!! The waiter is getting on my nerves at this point. Our entrees came out. Small portions, and my entree lacked a lot of flavor. I had the Pad Khi Mao. I guess this would be the equivalent to what other restaurants call Drunken Noodles. It was flavorless.... Barely any spice at all. My husbands Pad Thai was edible but not the best he has had. Our waiter didn't even come over to ask how our food was....we quickly got our check and didn't even get a Thank You. I always leave 20% tip, but he only got 10%. Such a disappointing experience. Cravin Thai is the best Thai in Sussex County....Narin Thai could take a lesson or two from them!! We won't be back..... read more

I was so happy to stumble upon this place. You basically don't even know it's there unless you are attentive while you are walking. I usually do a lunch take out. I am a big fan of the hot and spicy soup with veggies and shrimp. I pair it with jasmie rice. The curry is divine as they do it extra hot if you ask for it. They do give you a decent amount of food unlike some other Thai places. I didn't care for the pad thai but maybe it was an off day for the chef. I rather like the servers there as they remember my name and what I like to order. Do try it if you like quality Thai food in an understated yet elegant atmosphere. read more

Do yourself a favor and AVOID NARIN THAI!!!! Not only was the food cold and disgusting, I found a dead bug in my (what tasted like) microwaved dinner!!! There was no flavor in any of the other food and it was horrible. The chef/owner was rude and a disgrace and paid no mind to our concerns and told us to just GET OUT! . I came here for lunch with my boyfriend. I wasn't hungry, but he was, so we stopped in so he could eat. The restaurant was empty - we were the only two people there. We were seated at a very small 2 seater table and, since there was no one else there, we asked to be moved to a 4 seater so we would have a little more room. The waitress said okay and we moved to a bigger table. As we were browsing the menu, the waitress said that the chef said we had to move back to the smaller table just "in case" someone else came in. Fine, we moved back. My boyfriend ordered his appetizer and entree and I ordered a thai iced tea. The waitress took the order and went into the kitchen. A couple of minutes later a woman (presumably the chef) came out and yelled at us that we both had to order a main meal or she would not serve us. I tried to explain that I wasn't hungry and we were just there for one meal. She again yelled at us that we both had to order or she wouldn't serve us. So we got up and left. Service at this restaurant is HORRIBLE. They were rude and unaccommodating. I would think they would have been happy to have customers given that the place was empty, but clearly not. We will never go there again, I have never been refused service at a restaurant because only one person was eating! read more

The food here is absolutely delicious. I live in NYC and eat a lot of Thai food but this place is really one of the better Thai places I've been to. I've eaten in the restaurant a few times and had take out a number of times as well. The staff is really friendly (particularly the young man who often tends to the front and is a server) and the food is just so flavorful! I do think they could give you a little extra rice instead of the tiny boxes they give you (to go) but the food is so yummy I really don't care. It's much better than most of the places I've gone to in New York and I definitely recommend it. Most of the restaurants in Sussex Country really aren't that great but this is an exception. The Cashew entree and the Massaman curry in particular are amazing! read more

THE WORST TREATMENT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. We called in the afternoon to make a reservation for 3 and they didn't take reservations. We said we would like to come at 7:30 they said, no problem. The owner is also the chef and after we had been waiting an hour (arrived at 7:20pm, they close at 8, even though their website says 9:30 - we were assured that we would be seated without a problem) we were told to leave. We were drinking our bottle of wine while waiting for our table, they opened it for us and brought us glasses. The one waitress started to take our order as they were setting up our table then another waitress came out and said that the chef wasn't cooking anymore food and told us to go! They explained to the chef we had been waiting for an hour, we were the last table etc. etc. She didn't care, said I'm not cooking and "tell them to go". My friends and I have all been there several times. We didn't get loud or upset at the waitresses but I commented that the chef should come out and tell us to leave, of course that would never happen. I can not believe that you have the balls to treat your customers this way. So we left with our open half full bottle of wine, as we had no choice. We were in SHOCK! Now where to go at 8:20....we ended up at Riviera Maya on Rt. 206 for Mexican. They were happy to have us and feed us. The food at Narin Thai is good but I will never give my money to a woman who treats hers customers with SO little respect and disregard. She obviously doesn't respect her staff either putting them in such a situation...most people would have been irate and taken it out on the waitresses (the messengers) but we weren't going to stoop to her shady level. Disgusting that she runs her business this way....I hope you take this into consideration when deciding if you want to support a person like this. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by the food and decor. One of the few places in the area with duck on the menu. Could probably use a second waitress during peak hours. Hard to imagine how they turn much of a profit without liquor license, but BYOB option is nice for the customer. read more

Thai is one of my favorite cuisines and I've eaten in numerous restaurants. This one is by far the worst I've eaten in. Even my daughter won't eat the food here. The chicken coconut soup tasted like dish water, the various chicken dished I've tried all taste the same - steamed or boiled chicken coated with whatever sauce happens to be called for in that dish. I know a lot of people who like this place and I can not understand why, unless this is the only Thai food they've ever eaten. Thai Nam Phet (also in Newton, just outside of the center of town) and Thai Ping (in Boonton) have excellent food. I spent enough money the 3 times I've eaten there and I will never eat at Narin Thai again. read more

I would give it 5 stars as the food is great, but the service drives me insane. They never answer the phone for you to check on availability. In addition, you cannot get food to go in any shape or form. I walked in wanted to place an order to go and did not care about waiting for it, but was told the kitchen does not allow to go orders. On the first visit, we waited for what seemed like FOREVER to be seated, and again to be given menus, and AGAIN to have our drink orders taken....finally we had our drinks, and when we tried to order, the waitress said "Sorry, we can't serve you tonight....one of our chefs is going home sick". So we left.....and didn't return for a while. On the second attempt, we brought our own wine, and upon entering the restaurant, were told "We're not seating anyone right now". Well, I will tell you that I won't give this place the chance for a third strike.....I will NEVER go back to Narin....even if the food is good....I'll find Thai somewhere else. read more

The fact that the waiter put food in front of us that wasn't even what we ordered (with or without the chicken) and didn't know what he was serving us was just beyond comprehension. There was no attempt to get us the correct meals either. But he was kind enough to tell us it wasn't our fault?!?!? Really!!!! This was our second visit and we were disappointed each time. Absolutely horrible customer service. They do not pick up their phone during business hours for takeout, and they will not rectify errors on their part. I order the same dish each time and this time the chicken in the dish tasted fish-based - either the chicken was stored raw next to fish products, or it was cooked on an uncleaned surface. When asked if they could prepare another one, they refused. Then when asked for a refund, they refused stating they simply weren't going to give my money back because I didn't like the way it tasted (despite the fact I'd had it before and it was fine). Extremely unfortunate, as their food is otherwise very good. I will not eat there again, and encourage anyone looking for a positive customer service to go elsewhere. read more

Soup nazi in Newton. The most impossible place to have dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. The owner seems insane and not really looking to please customers as far as customer service goes. Pulled up last Saturday night at 7:57pm and was told they are no longer seating people for dinner. They do not take reservations. Another incident I had visited with a friend who had already eaten dinner, when I ordered 1 entree at a table for 2 I was told 30 minutes later the chef is refusing to cook for 1 since we were occupying a 2 person table?? She insisted we order a 2nd entree. Insane. I have witnessed them turn people away at the door an hour and a half before the scheduled closing time and seen waitresses demanding peoples full orders before the whole table has been seated. There is something very wrong with this chef/owner. I guess she would like to close her business as she has upset quite a few customers with her own personal demands. The food would be delicious as long as you get there by 6pm and be ready to order everything immediately. Poor way to do business read more
