    Clam chowda and clam cakes
    Cara M.

Loved the clam chowda. The clam cakes were mostly breading so I took a star off. Service was good. There was only one person tending bar and waitressing. The only suggestion is to be greeted or a sign that tells you to seat yourself/wait to be seated

Our family had lunch here on a Friday afternoon. I ordered the cup of chowder with two clam cakes which I have never had before. The chowder was good and had a lot of clams. I did enjoy the clam cake. It was like a hush puppy with chopped up clams. The dipping tarter sauce was very tasty. My wife got the garlic Parmesan wings that she enjoyed. The rest of the table got fish and chips, fish sandwich, and burger. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Best thing was an ice cold Narragansett draft that I have not had in a while. Overall a pretty good lunch spot.

    Chicken sandwich & fries

My boyfriend and I stopped in for our first time a couple weeks ago. The menu had a few selections that caught my eye but being by the water, I chose to try their fish tacos. I was happy with my choice because they were some of the best I've ever had. They were so flavorful and was loaded with fresh fish, lightly battered. I didn't have the chicken sandwich but it's my boyfriend's go to meal so he has tried many chicken sandwiches he enjoyed his meal as well. We don't drink but I noticed they have a good beer selection (both on tap & bottle).

My wife and I just happened to stop into this café today because honestly I wanted to use the restroom and I didn't want to just go in and not buy anything!... So we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of sodas and these clam cakes. I thought they were just gonna be six little tiny clam cakes that would take me about two minutes to eat, oh, how I was surprised!... These clam cakes were huge and came with a tartar sauce, dipping sauce, and it was basically a lunch meal for us! They were so good and if I go back to Jamestown Rhode Island again, I'm definitely gonna stop in and get these again. They were that good! Our server/bartender was excellent, and the price point was spot on. I highly recommend you stop in and try these clam cakes!

I was appalled by the poor attitudes of the 2 female waitresses. The mandatory 18% tip is unfortunate, but it's clear why they do it!

Very friendly greeting and service at hostess stand (we had to wait for our table 15 min but no problem, they were on it). Waitress was just ok, good enough but not attentive and we had long waits before she reappeared. Food was average. Zucchini chips were a surprise hit, very lightly fried (and I usually don't do anything fried), dip with it was very good. Caesar salads were generously sized and crunchy good, dressing solid. For entrees our table had 2 baked cod, both were good but the portion of cod was very small in comparison with the potatoes underneath. Our table had one of the specials which was pasta bolognese. For $37 it was a major disappointment, small size for a pasta entree, average taste. May want to enquire as what the price point is on any pasta special. Last entree was the Tuna. Nice portion size but didn't get it rare as ordered, it was med so for me that ruined it. The beans and broccoli rabe were so salty underneath I took half of it home. Not sure I will eat it. Sadly disappointed in overall meal experience. A shout out to our bread, water girl who was fabulous! I really wish we got her name. She was at our table whenever we needed anything and had a bubbly personality that made our evening fun. Side note to anyone coming from Newport: for years we would take the ferry from Perrotti Park to Jamestown. That ferry is not operating as it used to and the price is double what it was in the last few years. No problem, we drove over but certainly a deterrence for us as we loved bringing guests over on the ferry.

Beech Jamestown Where Date Night Dreams Come True…read more Listen, I don't write reviews often. But Beech in Jamestown had me pulling out my phone faster than I pull out my wallet at the end of a great meal. We showed up early like the eager, slightly-too-hungry couple we are. Did they make us wait awkwardly by the hostess stand? Absolutely not. They swept us into a bright, window-wrapped room so cheerful it practically hugged us. Turns out they'd lost power earlier that day. LOST POWER. You wouldn't have known it. These people were cooler than the other side of the pillow. Now. The food. Oh, the FOOD. I got the steak with puréed pomme, asparagus, and carrots, and I need you to understand -- this thing had a sear on it that made me want to stand up and applaud. The sauce? Somebody's grandmother's secret recipe dipped in liquid gold. It melted in my mouth so fast I briefly forgot my own name. My wife had to remind me we were in public. Speaking of my wife -- she ordered the Tortellacci. Stuffed pasta, porcini mushrooms, ricotta, limoncello cream sauce, white truffle shavings. She took one bite and just stared at me. No words. Just stared. That's how you know it was BANANAS. In the best possible way. The rolls came out hot and fresh, which is honestly its own love language. Our water and bread gal? Sunshine in human form. Smiling, attentive, welcoming -- the kind of person who makes you feel like a guest, not a table number. Our waitress treated us like family, which for two people on date night is exactly the vibe you need. Beech, you had us at the bread. You kept us at the steak. We'll be back on this island, and you will absolutely see our faces again. 10/10. No notes. Just compliments.

We just had another fabulous dinner at Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant--our second time dining here…read moresince last fall, and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

The place itself did not seem to care because nobody said anything to this table. It was a large group. I kept saying to myself if people come to my city and give it the reputation that we have of being snobby then I see why because this would never be allowed in a restaurant in my hometown. At any rate, this is the best lobster bisque I've ever had in my life. I really enjoyed it. I got the plate where it was stuffed. I thought it was just OK but I was just eating something I don't normally try.My partner got steak frites which he also really enjoyed. I love the way the vegetables were cooked. They were perfect not mushy and not underdone. Will definitely return here, if we come back to Newport. I just hope for better patrons.

It's sad to say that our first experience at this restaurant was one of the most unprofessional…read moreimpressions we've ever experienced. Upon our 5:30 p.m. arrival, my wife and I were immediately seated in the far corner of the outdoor patio. From the beginning, the host's demeanor came across as cold and dismissive. When she told us to "enjoy," her tone made it clear she didn't mean what she said. When our waitress arrived, she wanted to explain what the daily specials were, but before she began, we politely asked if we could move to another section of the patio so we could sit in the sun. After speaking with the host, she returned with what I can only describe as a smart-ass attitude, saying, "Those tables are for people who actually have reservations." We completely understood if those tables were reserved, but there was absolutely no reason for the condescending attitude. Instead, we were moved to another corner table, and after the host decided to tell us "enjoy" with the same condescending tone. Once we sat down, I asked the waitress if she could explain the daily specials, but then she quickly replied, "now that we're at a different table, the other waitress/waiter will have to do that" since it wasn't her "zone". As we sat there, we couldn't help but notice what appeared to be a noticeable difference in how other guests were treated. The tables that gave off what I would describe as a more "upper class" appearance, well-dressed white guests who appeared more affluent, seemed to receive a warmer welcome and far more attentive service. Whether that was intentional or not, we couldn't shake the feeling that we were viewed differently. I'm white myself, but perhaps my tattoos or the fact that I was dining with my Brazilian wife caused us to be perceived differently. I honestly don't know. What I do know is that we left feeling like we didn't fit the restaurant's idea of its preferred clientele. For example, our waitress never offered us the option of tap or bottled water, while nearby "upper class" tables were given that choice. Around 6:10 p.m., we ordered appetizers, which took roughly 20 minutes to arrive, while tables seated after us were already receiving their food. We then placed our entrée orders and waited... and waited... and waited. In addition, we found a hair in the salad that we ordered, and when we brought it up to the waitress, her only answer was "that's impossible, everyone in the kitchen wears hairnets... At approximately 6:40 p.m., the hostess came to our table and explained there had been a "mix-up" because we had switched tables, causing our entrée order to be delayed. That explanation made very little sense. How does simply switching tables result in an order being delayed by that much? It pointed to a serious lack of communication between the front of the house and the kitchen. By approximately 6:50 p.m., I believe a manager came to our table and asked if there was anything he could do. At that point, I bluntly asked for the check because waiting well over an hour for our food was simply unacceptable. Ironically, our entrées finally arrived around 7:00 p.m., but by then we had completely lost our appetite. I sent the food back and again requested the check. Even then, it still took another 10 minutes to receive it. To the hostess's credit, she apologized, and I told her I appreciated the apology. However, I also explained that this restaurant clearly has a major communication problem. More importantly, the dismissive attitude we experienced from the moment we walked in set the tone for the entire evening and left us feeling unwelcome. In a nutshell: We waited an hour and a half for our food we never received, we were mistreated, felt discriminated, and there were still PLENTY of open tables in the patio facing the sun. This was our first visit to Narragansett, and unfortunately it was not the welcome we expected. I didn't even bother asking if the restaurant offered a military discount because, by that point, I already felt like we didn't belong. We will NEVER return.
