I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Always such great food with great drinks. The menu chairs every few months but still keeps some great options with those changes such as they French fried with a gluten free cheese sauce. I also enjoy the ceviche and tuna tartar nachos.

WOW!! Food was amazing! I don't even like vegetables, but those fried green beans were so flaky and crunchy and just perfection. Food is great, our server was funny, and the ambiance was amazing. I would definitely come again just for the green beans even as an avid vegetable hater.

I always come here with my coworkers, and everything--from the food to the drinks--is amazing. I tried oysters for the second time in years, and even though I'm not usually a fan, these were delicious, especially with the sauces and a squeeze of lemon. The whiskey sour was perfectly refreshing and had a smooth, relaxing finish.

French dip sandwich with fries (daily special)

Stopped by National Anthem for lunch and had the French dip sandwich with fries. Portions were huge, and the prices were pretty fair for what you get. The sandwich was solid--good quality and tasted good, though nothing mind-blowing. The atmosphere was really cool, making it a nice spot to grab a bite. Only downside? Parking can be a hassle unless you're willing to pay for the lot right behind the restaurant. Overall, a good lunch spot if you're in the area!

this place is CLASSY!! it always caught my eye driving past its most magical interior so we had to stop in for a drink! the midori sour tastes just like a jolly rancher, the bartender was generous and charming to chat with, and the pricing ($12-14 for a cocktail) was very reasonable for the location and ambience. the other patrons were chatty too and their food looked great. all around a lovely experience, great for an elevated casual date or hangout, with seating options for all party sizes and a lovely patio. GREAT spot to watch the sun set.

Wonderful service. We had a lovely and friendly young lady. She was very busy but she was super sweet and apologetic. Free birthday dessert for our friend! Bonus! My order took a bit longer, I ordered the fish and chips- lots of fries! Yes!!! I thought maybe there would be three pieces of fish for $28, eek, must have been a skinny little fish they caught. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. It was a nice evening. Pretty and cool place.

I've been wanting to try this place for some time and I'm so glad I did!!!! First of all, the ambiance was 5/5, we went early and it wasn't too loud, such a beautiful restaurant with a huge bar and awesome neon sign the minute you walk in. The service was phenomenal, Rachel was exceptional and recommended some fantastic drinks, she was attentive and nice and all around amazing. The FOOD though - I got the pasta special, braised beef malfadine and I would eat it for the rest of my life. The meatball apps were great too! The butterscotch brule was the best Ive ever had, I'd have picked that over the pineapple upside down cake which wasn't that exciting but still good. I'll be back to visit very soon. Thank you!!

Decided to have a staycation down in Dallas and came here on a recommendation from a friend. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was really cool. Very chill. We came at like 6:30 on a Saturday and the place wasn't overrun with people. The staff was GREAT! We got the Cauli Bang Bang for an appetizer and it was SO GOOD!! I'm don't usually one to like any sort of spice but I was pleasantly surprised that the spice was tolerable. There was still a kick but not enough for me to hate myself and my life choices haha I got the Fish & Chips for my main and I wanted to absolutely love it. The fish was a little too oily so the breading was really wet. Everything else about the dish was amazing. Loved the fries, the slaw, the tartar sauce. If the breading for the fish has been a bit crispier, it definitely would've been a 10/10 for me. I'll definitely be back either to try the fish again or maybe try something else on the menu. There were a lot of great options so I want to see what they're all about!

Drinks and food were great! I got the east side which is basically a south side with cucumber added. The gin was good and lime and mint were fresh! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the cauliflower grits were tasty. Seems like a great place for large groups. I went with 9 others and there was another larger group as well. All the staff members were super friendly and accommodating!

National Anthem is Dallas restauranteur Nick Badovinus's latest restaurant (Desert Racer, Montlake Cut, Town Hearth, Neighborhood Services, Brass Ram, and OSK (RIP)). It has a similar menu to Neighborhood Services, but with a more casual, upbeat vibe. National Anthen is a place to go for a great food and drinks with friends. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - National Anthem's is located in a very cool wedge building in downtown Dallas where Commerce and Jackson St. meet. The entrance is at the front of the wedge where you'll find some outdoor seating. Inside, you'll walk into an impressive bar with lounge seating on the sides. It's bright and white on the inside, very busy, and full of energy. 1 Star. Service - All servers at Nick Badovinus's restaurants are expertly trained. There are many off menu items, which our server shared in detail from memory. They are a team that works together, running out food, clearing dishes, or checking up on us. Outstanding. 1 Star. Food - I love the food at Nick Badovinus's restaurants, and National Anthem is no different. Some of the menu items are similar, like the excellent Fish & Chips. I've had this at Neighborhood Services, and it's quite good. The battered and fried fish is tender and flaky, but the real star of this dish are the seasoned shoestring fries that I prefer dipping into the tartar sauce vs. catsup. But what really separates National Anthem from the other restaurants are the energy and vibe from the bar. I've had some of the best drinks from Brass Ram upstairs, and National Anthem is just as good, but much more accessible. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. We have another winner. I really enjoyed my visit to the National Anthem. I will be back to try the burger (and maybe have another drink). 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

Well behaved kid friendly in the early hours, say 5:30 pm?

I'd take mine... plenty big seating areas, and cool environment. Might check menu for kid friendly options. The fries are yummy!

Is there valet or a designated parking area?

Yes, Valet is the best way to park. I do not recall the fee but it was low. Very convenient!

It just didn't seem to be anything over the top special so I would rather order something else as an app. My husband ordered the fried chicken and I got the Crispy Chicken Katsu. Both were delicious and I would definitely recommend trying both! The Katsu came with a spicy mayo that made the sandwich perfect! I'll start with a positive -- the appetizers were actually quite good. The deviled eggs, dragon…read moreroll, and pigs in a blanket were all tasty, and that's honestly the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, everything else was a struggle from the moment we walked in. We didn't have reservations, but eventually found seats at the bar. Given how busy the place was, we figured the bar would mean faster, more attentive service. We were very wrong. We ordered two beers, a non-alcoholic drink, and three appetizers. The drinks arrived, and the appetizers followed about 10 minutes later -- fine so far. But there were no utensils. We had to ask for them, and we asked for plates as well, which never came. The empty dishes from our appetizers sat in front of us for a solid hour with no one clearing them. The bartender who took our order never once checked on us. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food has potential, but the service was inattentive, disorganized, and frankly unacceptable for a busy restaurant that should know better.

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

WILL NEVER BE BACK!…read more HATED. EVERY. MOMENT. OF. THIS. PISS. POOR. EXPERIENCE. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. VALET. NOT. FREE. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K
